I'm a reader first, writer second. I'm not sure that this is a good thing, but it's certainly true! My favorite genres include YA, MG, literary fiction, fantasy, biographies, and sci-fi. Really though, I'll read pretty much anything except for bodice-ripping romances. Margaret Atwood, Francesca Lia Block, and Samuel Beckett have all changed my life at various points in my life.

I have a BA in English from the University of Kentucky, a MA in Literature from the University of Louisville, and a MFA in Writing from Sarah Lawrence College.

When I'm not reading or writing, I'm wrangling cats and kids, or trying to make sense of my sewing machine.

Kate had been best friends with London since they were children. their house was opposite each other, where Kate lived with her parents and London lived with his mother who was rarely home. their friendship was so tight that it was like they were a couple, yet they never did cross the boundaries of friends. to her dismay, Kate's father disapproved their friendship; where else her mother loved London. one day, a new student joined her class. Anastasia was a beautiful girl who often got what she wanted, except her parents' love and attention. she put herself between Kate and London, stirring things up when it seemed like she was helping.

i received a free e-book from the author in exchanged for a review. the story was a very fast read, which i managed to finish in one sitting. it was engaging and very relaxing until the twist came. initially i assumed the twist would be Kate finally realized that she held special feelings for Anastasia. while i was waiting for that to happen, i never did saw the actual one coming, which turned out to be far more crazier and had me dislike Anastasia that very instant. she disappointed me, forming a typical bully characteristic. she started out being so stunning, a complete opposite of Kate, who seemed so much more duller in comparison. it was extremely heart breaking to see how things turned out wrong in the end, suddenly making the title an obvious hint. despite not being a huge fan of sad ending, I was pleased with how unexpected the story often went, making it a very entertaining read.

I received a complimentary copy of The End of You and Me in exchange for an honest review.

Katie and London have been best friends for years. They spend all of their time together in school and out of school. Their classmates say their names as if it's one name: Katie-and-London. Then Anastasia moves to town and puts herself into their world. She's not as accepting of Katie and London's unconventional relationship and is on a path to destroy them. Katie's dad is also hell-bent on making sure that Katie stays away from London. Will Katie's dad or Anastasia succeed or is Katie and London's bond to strong to break?

I enjoyed this book even though I was completely surprised through much of it! I love that Katie and London have such a strong relationship - she's had to deal with a domineering father all of her life and he's had to deal with a mom who's rather be hanging at the bars every night than taking care of her son.

It was very easy to hate Anastasia. I didn't like how she tried to come between Katie and London even through the times that she made it look like she was helping them. The things that she did were so not what I would have expected to happen.

And I have to admit that the last few events of the book came as a complete surprise to me. I don't want to give away any spoilers but I never saw that coming.

Great debut book by Wendi M. Lee! I can't wait to see what tale you weave next for us!

I loved London and Katie. Their relationship was so like some I remember from high school - kids who had grown up together and tried dating. I was untrusting of Anastasia and wasn't sad when 'she got hers' and that situation played out. I would've liked to have known more at the end, but was pleased overall.

Kate and London have a fairly tranquil life; going to school, studying and hanging out with each other every day. It's been always like that, just the two of them together, best friends since forever. However, when a new, girl, a crazed red-head strolls into the school and into their lives, their safely built world seems to turn up side down.

The End of You and Me was a quick read. I absorbed it all at one sitting, and not just for it was rather short, but because it was a real page-turner, full of conflictions and mysteries that I felt I must find out and so I went on and on and on.

For one, Kate's overly strict and protective father never gave me a rest from worrying when Kate disobeyed; whether he would find out about it and if yes, what harsh punishment would he come up with this time as he was utterly cruel concerning punishments, or his daughter anyway. He was the kind of person who felt the need of ruling the whole house, because he was the father, the man, he deserved it and, of course, it was for the better of all. Only the love was missing from the so-called effort. He was particularly dour when it came down to London, Kate's best friend, who was a boy which was enough of a reson for him as it is, though there was probably more to it as he never approved of him, not even when they were too young to have serious feelings for each other. But what, I didn't really understand, since we didn't get much of an explanation, well that is apart from that he used to be a military man, though as it is, that should not be a reason, in my opinion. At any rate, he fairly pissed me off with his incredible attitude.

The core of the mystery was the new girl, who was a strange and confusing character, not in a neccessarily bad was though. She was spunky with his careless attitude towards school, "flirting with literally(!) everybody" character , drinking, inexlplicable experience that allegedly happened to her once and being part of an occult, but seemed nice to our two MCs nevertheless. Kind of. She talked to them, defended them when they were bombarded by bad rumors and even helped them with a pretty big favor. I was never really fond of Anastasia, she was too demented for my taste, yet I do think there was a lot more to her character that could have been brought out. For instance, there was never a decent explanations for the mystery around her, though I see that it was necessary to get a better picture of her behaviour, which, by the way, also ended up unexplained. On the whole, I would have liked to see more to her.

There wasn't much romance in the book. The insecure and afraid -of-change Kate and the protective and always kind London were cute together, but that was all. The chemistry was missing completely. Albeit, the fact that they sticked together without the usual drama when they both changed and evolved as the circumstances became different was refreshing.

What wasn't refreshing, however, was the ending. It was as if things got out of hand and went in a direction that was somewhat unrealistic and unestablished. It sort of just happened. It occured more than once in the book, but unfortunately, this was the biggest and worst of the array.

All in all, it was definitely not a bad book. If it were, I wouldn't have read it in merely five and a half hour. Despite its faults, it was enjoyable and thought-provoking and I would recommend it if you feel like getting emotional.

I received a copy in exchange of a honest review.

Defying the genre of this book was so difficult. I feel like it doesn't really fit in anywhere. There is romance, but it is not romance. There is mystery, but it is not a mystery. There is angst, but is it not a thriller. It's just... everywhere and nowhere at the same time. I was confused for a big part of the book and I don't want to spoil anything, because the surprises were the better parts of this book.

One thing I couldn't get into and which mostly decided my enjoyment of this book were the characters. There was no real depth to them and the decisions made by them were with no explanation. I'd like to see in their heads a bit and get to know them and there were all strangers to me. Their behavior all made no sense to me. For example, Kate's father is a major jackass who seems to want his daughters life miserable. WHY THOUGH?! It's just a complete mystery why he's acting the way he's acting. Same for Anastasia. I don't get why she's doing what she's doing. It just makes me confused and frustrated with the book.

Another thing were certain events (read: surprises in the books) were so unreal that it was eye rolling. It was just hard to believe. I like realistic fiction and this wasn't that. Also things seemed to move fast, especially the last 5 pages or so. Another thing that was really hard to believe. Lastly, a couple of events didn't seem to add to the story and could as well have been left out.

Maybe I wasn't the right person to read this book, maybe it was too much out of my comfort zone, who knows. But I do think if you enjoy some mystery and thriller, this could be an okay read.

Love is an extremely powerful emotion. It will lead people to do unthinkable things. Kate and London are consumed with their friendship to the point where everything else in the world does not register or draw away their attention from each other. That is the case until a new girl arrives and slowly wiggles her way into their life.

This is a story about young love and friendship and the lengths that two people will go to remain in each others lives. For Kate and London it is always just the two of them and no one else matters. I found this to be slightly annoying throughout the book. Obsessive relationships are not something I can relate to and it lead me to find Kate as a weak and dependent character. I did quite enjoy Anastasia and found her entertaining. Who doesn’t like a crazy, wild and outgoing female character. As with Kate I also found London a little flat and although he had goals in life he seemed held back by the engulfing relationship with Kate.

The End Of You And Me was an easy, enjoyable and fast read. It did cover some deep issues (although they were just lightly glossed over), with an extreme surprising twist that I did not see coming. I was caught off guard because I felt like there was a certain way the story was going to go and it definitely went a totally different way. The book was short so I felt like the story was lacking in some depth and development, but overall it was satisfying and quick read about friendship and love.
