Not only is Quinn a vampire, but he is also her long lost father. As Quinn and Nadia reconnect, can they help each other battle their demons, or is Nadia’s fate sealed? The story revolves around Quinn Forrester, a former rock star whose life was turned upside down when he was turned into a vampire. Quinn was forced to give up everything he loved including his family and his music. For years, Quinn lives in hiding until one night he meets his long lost daughter Nadia. The two reconnect and open up about their painful pasts as they bond over their love of music.

Nadia provides plenty of entertainment throughout the story with her quirky one-liners, outrageous antics, and her flirting with Tristan. Yet she shows her sensitive side as she reveals her painful past and deals with tragedy.

I loved how the author does a complete role reversal with Quinn's ex-wife Lacey and Giselle the woman who turned him into a vampire. However, I didn't like how Lacey's story ended, I thought it was a bit too much considering the earlier tragedies that take place.

My only negativity is the pace of the story. There are some parts where she goes into too much detail and I thought it should've been cut short. There were other parts where she speeds up the story and I would've preferred if she slowed down a bit.

My friend recommended this book to me. I wasn't sure if I was going to read it, because the whole vampire story line is getting kind of used up if you ask me. However, she assured me that it was an amazing story.

Well, I'm glad I decided to give it a try because it was really great!

Quinn Forrester was turned into a vampire against his will, and he lost his perfect life in the process. His wife and baby daughter were left to think he had abandoned them.

Eighteen years later he is reunited with his daughter Nadia...under very awkward circumstances I might add.
This chance encounter actually reunites them, and they become very close again. They begin a journey that will change them both forever.
Quinn will discover the truth about his family and his life before becoming a vampire, and the night he was turned. Which will change everything.

Enjoyed it immensely and the twists and turns in the story line kept me on my toes and guessing what would happen next.

I ended up getting this book from a goodreads giveaway, and loved it!!!! I've read so many paranormal novels regarding vampires and was no way disappointed by this book. I love the story especially Quinn reconnecting with his daughter. I don't like to give too much away about the book you can read the back the book for the description and decide whether you want to read it or not but I definitely suggest reading this book the author did an amazing job!!

This was a sweet beginning to the Vampyr trilogy. Ms. McFarland does a good job of introducing readers to her characters and setting up her world for the next story. The relationship between Giselle and Quinn was incredibly romantic, star-crossed lovers getting a second chance. Also, the way Ms. McFarland paints with words is fantastic. I've never been to New Orleans, but I felt like I could see club Vampyr. All in all, a wonderful story, and I'm looking forward to the next one! :-)

This book was given to me for an honest review. The story takes a turn from the traditional vampire tale and sheds a different light on the bloodsuckers we are accustomed to. I found it both interesting and entertaining. If you like vampires and New Orleans you will love it. Great job for a first novel. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Just Plain Great Story Telling

Marvelous and interesting Vampire story. Very vivid descriptions and from the beginning I enjoyed the pull in which I thought was going to be a cringy moment I’m glad the author didn’t push the envelope that much. You are pulled into this tale of a rockstar that faded into the darkness and know it’s a vampire book you can put two and two together but it’s very entertaining and the main character gets to tell you his tale. Very good book glad I read it for the year. I’d recommended it for my friends into Vampires.

An interesting beginning.

As others have said, this storyline has nods toward Anne Rice and her vampire series. There's plenty of differences though. I plan to continue on with this and see how deeply defined the characters can get and what plot twists lie ahead.

The thing that sticks out the most is the use of "daddy" is a little weird and very cringey. I enjoyed the storyline otherwise, the writing style isn't my favorite, but it was readable.

Disappointing Read

The basic story line is actually quite good. It's the conversation between characters that lacks any emotion. It is so stilted with very little feeling or emotional involvement.
Please ........I hope the next book is an improvement.
