She’s 70 years old and about to experience the best autumn of her life…
Monica, who just celebrated her 70th birthday is spending the fall with her daughter’s family off the coast of Maine.
Since her husband died 10 years ago, she’s given up all hope of a new happily ever after and tells herself she’s content just being grandma to two beautiful boys.
The thing is Monica’s always had a secret passion for baking and business. A passion she never got to pursue as a wife and mother. So when she sees a job opening in the local cottage cafe, she jumps at the chance. Impressed by her pastry skills, the owner offers Monica a chance to shine in the kitchen.
Over the moon with this new lease of life, Monica’s happiness is short-lived when she finds out that hotel developers are threatening to buy out the local cafe.
Then, when Monica finds a notebook left behind in the cafe one evening, she discovers inside it the story of Benjamin, a once-famous local sculptor who is grieving his late wife. The cottage cafe was her favorite place to be too. As Monica delves into the history of the town, she realizes just how pivotal the cafe has been to the people who live here through the years.
Intrigued, Monica sets out to make friends with the reclusive and crotchety Benjamin, who just so happens to be the only man who can save the cafe from its fate.
A reminder of the importance of friendship, love, neighbors, and reaching out to those around you. Spend a hopefull fall with Monica and Benjamin as they embark on an unlikely romance and band together to save the beloved local cafe from going under.

Monica asks Fred to research what is happening with the town and more importantly the Cafe. Everyone is so on edge not knowing what is going on and if a development will be taking place in the downtown core where the Cafe is. Lydia and Monica are walking on egg shells around each other all because of herself and Benjamin going to the Mayor to try and find out the situation of the town. Benjamin got himself put into jail and Fred got him out along with Monica. The Cafe that Donnie owns is on land that no one seems to know who owns, this is the problem with trying to figure out whether or not the Cafe will be torn down and a development built. Andrea seems to show up at the library where Fred, Monica and the boys are and she informs them that the development will be taking place on the condemned land. This is getting very exciting, can't wait for the next story!.

The suspense builds … what on earth is going on with Lydia? Why is she so combative with Monica? It was hard to figure her out, let alone like her. But Monica finally stands up to her and begins to peel the onion layers away. After all, a mother knows her daughter’s weaknesses and Monica uses them perfectly on Lydia with reverse psychology. Being reminded who she really is, makes me see a woman on a mission… a woman who fights for the underdog. I’m now seeing a new Lydia.
With Lydia’s knowledge and the information that Benjamin, Fred and Monica are digging up, I almost feel sorry for the bad guys. I said almost. It’s going to be rather satisfying to see Auntie Karma do her thing. Oh how the mighty can fall. I’m going to stock up on popcorn, this is gonna be good.

The emotions are all of the place in this book. Benjamin is in trouble with the law and Lydia is being rude. Monica is a strong mother who puts up with too much of her daughter Lydia's attitude. My heart breaks for Monica as she is doing everything possible to make her family happy. Lydia needs a wake-up call so that she can see that her behavior towards her mother is not okay. Hopefully book four will make Lydia a little more likable. Benjamin is a hoot, and I love how he and Monica are sweet on each other without realizing it! Their friendship is inspiring!

Another great instalment and the suspense is slowly building but once again we are left with more questions. Lydia is very much on the defensive with Monica and we can’t help but wonder if this is related to her personal or professional life. And what is the mayor’s son involved in? Monica is doing her best to keep everyone happy but it seems as though she is not succeeding especially when it comes to her friendship with Benjamin. I hope the next book bring us a little closer to revealing all that is going on in the council. Cannot wait.

I read the first three books of this series and I feel that they should have actually been only the first three chapters of one book. Each "book" was only a continuation of the one before with no resolution at the end of any of them even the third. I realize that this was a series but I have read series before and this is not the case for all series. I feel that this was a very deceptive practice of calling each one a book! I will not continue with this series or buy from this author again. I would rather pay more for a book that contains a full story than pay 99 cents per chapter!
Monica is in a unique position by not being a long time resident to have fresh eyes on Donnie’s predicament. The Cafe is a community staple that anchors the town. I am excited to unravel some of the mysteries concerning the development company, the mayor and her son. What does Lydia, Monica’s daughter, have to do with the land grab? Is Benjamin interested in Monica? Are Fred and Lydia headed for a separation? What is going on with Lydia and Monica’s relationship? Bring on the next book! Please hurry!
This Booksprout ARC is an exceptional addition to this series.
I continue to enjoy this series about the Cottage Cafe in Caloosaport, ME. In book 3 the mystery continues. Will the Cafe survive? Will Monica & Lydia mend their relationship? What is going on at City Hall? Monica continues meeting new people who are bringing back purpose to her life. Each novella ends with a cliffhanger… not sure why this author is doing multiple novellas versus one larger book. For monetary purposes? I’m grateful to be reading them under my Kindle unlimited, as I would not pay for each individual book.
This has made me completely engrossed in what is going on with the café! Monica is determined to find out why there is such a mystery as to whether the café is being sold and why no one will give her answers when she asks. Lydia is hiding a secret that Monica has no idea what it could be. I cannot wait until the next book comes out.

Like book one and 2 we are drawn to Benjamin and the cafe and all the people who are working there. The town is finding out about what is going on and they are to say the least not pleased with it. Monica is finding out more information and she is concerned as her daughter is worried about loosing her job with the City but Monica feels that people should be advised that someone is trying to ruin their community. Benjamin is beside himself as the past mayor and wants to do anything he can to stop it but who exactly is involved with starting this process and who wants destroy their happy little community.

Another five star book in a fantastic series. Suspicious events with stunning impact continue to totally draw me into this series and keep me rooting for Donald, Benjamin and Monica to save the cafe. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

The Cottage Cafe Book 3 continues following the story of Monica and Ben as they try to help Donnie keep his cafe. The drama amps up as they try to find out the source of corruption in this small town. Monica's son-in-law agrees to help and her daughter has issues she is not disclosing. There is a cliffhanger ending. Onward to the next one!
Like having the older characters and the fact that they have a second chance. There are a few bumps in the road but they have a common goal to work toward. Good continuation of the story can't wait to read more. Like the location and the story concept. Good read.

The bickering goes on between Monica and Lydia. Lydia is pulling away from Fred. Ben and Monica are playing detective, to see who owns the land the café sits on. And Donnie is trying to recover from his heart attack.
Lydia is hiding something and being combative with Monica. When Monica finally calls her on it, Lydia says she will help with the land grab issue. Fred is trying to do research on who might have inherited the land but is not having much luck. Just as this happens, Andrea drops a bombshell. What will happen next? I received an advanced reader copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion.
Monica and her daughter are now on the outs. Lydia thinks her mother is going to cause her to lose her job. Monica is just trying to keep the peace and Benjamin isn't helping with his wild ideas. What a fun series this has been!
Monica is on mission to find out what is going on with the cafe and the town. The owner of the land is a question mark. This is quite the mystery that keeps getting better.
