NEW MYSTERIOUS ROMANCE FROM BESTSELLING AUTHOR AMBER GARZA...
Jade Mathews is on the run. Running from an addiction that almost destroyed her, and a man who wants her dead.
Kyler James is a writer, a recluse locked in a prison of his own making.
When Jade and Kyler meet they find solace in one another and start to heal. Until Jade stumbles upon Kyler's latest manuscript and is shocked to find that it is her story. One he couldn't know. Jade fears she's trusted the wrong person once again, and this time it may be her undoing.
Is the past destined to destroy them, or will they finally break free?
Amber Garza has had a passion for the written word since she was a child making books out of notebook paper and staples. Her hobbies include reading and singing. Coffee and wine are her drinks of choice (not necessarily in that order). She writes while blaring music, and talks about her characters like they're real people. She lives with her husband and two kids in Folsom, California, which is also home to another Amber Garza.
I was pretty excited to read this book when I first heard about it! First off, the cover is so amazing, and then second, the synopsis sounded right up my street! I've also read a few other books from this author and really enjoyed them, so I was looking forward to reading this one and finding out the story behind the cover! This book was about a girl trying to overcome her past! She learns in this book how to do that and how to appreciate life and that how you look doesn't define you! It was just amazing! The plot of this book was so beautiful! There was a lot in it too and I actually found it hard to put down! I also couldn't just read one more chapter! I had to read like six more before I could put it down lol! There were also a few twist and turns in the plot that I didn't see coming! My mouth was actually hanging open at one lol! I was in shock lol! I adored the plot though! It was a beautiful love story with a bit of action at the end and a big reveal that changed the story slightly! It had everything I love in the plot of a book! The characters were amazing! Jade was the main character and she though she was ugly and damaged because she had a scar on her face, she was in an abusive relationship and she took drugs! My heart went out to Jade because she was such a strong person who had been through a lot and she belittled herself because of her situation! As this book progressed, I found out that Jade had been through so much more than I thought she had though, and again, my heart just went out to her! She was just an amazing character that learned a lot about herself in this book though! And that was all down to her love interest! Her love interest showed her that that she was beautiful and she didn't have to hide! Kyler was the love interest of Jade and he showed her that her scar didn't define her, but her actions did! He showed her that it's okay to be different and okay to live, even after what Jade had been through! I just adored Kyler! I loved how he treated Jade too! He was so gentle with her and he let their relationship develop at her pace! Kyler sort of had his own problems and fears, but he put them to one side and he focused on Jade and he made sure she was happy and safe, which was amazing to see! It showed how strong his feelings for her where! I thought that this book was a standalone when I first heard about it, but it actually says that there's going to be another book called Break Through at the end of this book! I can't wait to read it! I'm assuming that it's maybe going to continue Jade and Kyler's story, but I'm not 100% sure as their story was pretty summed up! As I said, the cover for this book is amazing! I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it! The models on the front really suit the characters of Jade and Kyler too! Big thank you to Amber for an ARC of Break Free!
Jade has been through difficult times but I loved her spunk, "you like me? What are you in third grade? I'm not going steady with you so don't even ask." Kyler I loved him, he was such an easy character to love, "I'm going to go outside and have a look around the property." He reached for Edgar. "Come on, boy. You can help me." His gaze lifted to mine. "Unless you'd feel safer with him in here." He's a protector by nature and I loved that, "why didn't you tell me? I want to protect you, Jade. Don't you know that?" His tone was soft, not accusatory." This is different from Amber's other NA books and I have to say I enjoyed reading Kyler and Jade's story.
This is definitely one of those books that will leave an impression on you. Jade has a horrible life & it was amazing to see what she goes through & the person she becomes. Kyler is freaking adorable & the way he is with Jade is amazing, despite his few mistakes. I really adored this story & the characters. Garza is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Especially when it comes to NA where most are centered around sex, Garza focuses on the the actual story & I love it. The book is great & I recommend it & any book by Garza!
This book was astounding, to put into words what I would love to say is impossible. The way this book made me feel is unlike anything I have ever read. The events that happen bring back painful memories but give me closure and it is heartening. The topics laid out in this novel were so sad and upsetting but put the point out to you so you know what it is like, you understand them and want to know more even though it is disheartening. All of the scenes were laid out so well as if we were there experiencing everything with the character. Every flashback and scene felt like you were there with Jade experiencing the trauma and hurt. This book impacted me in so many ways and I can honestly say this is my top read of 2014. When you read BREAK FREE there are so many questions you are constantly thinking and wondering about. Nothing is better than an amazing story that keeps you wondering. I really hope you enjoy this book as much as I do.
This book had everything you look for, a broken girl who needs not only some good in her life but some motivation. She also needs to have more confidence and to believe she is beautiful whether she recognizes it or not. There is love, not always the healthy kind either (if you could call that love). Strength is a huge thing here in such a big way. Forgiveness is the hardest thing to give, you try and try and it doesn’t always have the outcome you expect and in BREAK FREE you realize no matter how hard the task it will get done if you have faith. And lastly, this book has a beautiful outlook it may have taken so many steps and hardships to get to that outcome but it happens and you will be so amazed at how this book changes you. This book is a beautiful story, it has damaged people, hate, anger, disgust, and sadness but you end up with such a beauty that you will appreciate the life you are given and will hold those you love dear to you.
The characters are not the ones you’d expect. Jade is so sad and fractured, she needs the love that you hope for in life whether it is companionship, family, friends, or just from the people around you. She is a lot stronger then she puts off, not only emotionally but she can take what is forced upon her. When you read about her you will only grow to admire her strength and hope that what her life has given her will end up as a happy ending. You will also appreciate how she sees life, most people do not see things the way she does, and she looks for every possible outcome and tries to change them to benefit her. It isn’t always a good thing though. Jade likes to thing badly of everything nice said to her so she looks for the outcome that will hurt her less. We also are given Kyler. He’s the perfect guy in his own nerdy way. He’s an author who writes horror and doesn’t always look for a happy ending. You may think it is strange but he is the opposite of Jade. Jade may think of a positive outcome but Kyler is positive and doesn’t look for outcomes. When you learn more about Kyler you love him that much more because he is such an amazing guy at heart and you know he just wants what is best for everyone.
In conclusion, you will not only relate in some form to these characters but you will feel every emotion with them. When they are sad you can’t help but be sad, when they are happy you feel a smile tug at your lips, and when they have these moments that are special between them you will feel grateful that you are told of these moments because you feel their emotions as if you were a fly on the wall. The most amazing part of this story is the journey you take with the characters and how differently you will see things. I can promise you that this is different, you get to read a book inside a book and feel so many emotions (good and bad) and you will want more but be satisfied on the ending. The ending couldn’t have been better, Kyler and Jade get what they’ve always wanted and I promise you it is not what you are thinking it is so far from what you would expect. Back to the ending, YES it was filled with so much emotion and I couldn’t stop smiling, I couldn’t stop thinking about how it couldn’t have been better. Amber Garza has made a novel so amazing that it tops all her other books and is the best yet. I believe that she will continue to amaze me with her writing.
Great story I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a quick read. Jade and Kyler are easy to relate to and their story has a smooth flow.
The story starts with Jade having some horrible flashbacks , without knowing anything about her past you may assume it is a boyfriend or family member in her flashbacks but we do not really know. At the same time we see that she does live with an abusive boyfriend, Heath , and she is addicted to meth. She has struggled to get away and now decides to finally pack up and take off while Heath is asleep. Jade heads to the bus station and takes a bus to a small town looking for somewhere to stay and maybe start over. She finds herself sleeping in what she assumes to be an abandon barn. Little does she know the barn belongs to someone that may end up being her future but not before their pasts collide.
Kyler James is a writer and somewhat of a recluse. Living in this small town on his Grandmother's land that is now his since her passing. He is shocked to find someone sleeping in his barn and we do not know it yet but this may be a sign of fate at work for Kyler finding Jade. Kyler decides to take it upon himself to make sure he is the one to protect Jade from whatever it is she is running from. And with her bruises and issues that she wears on her sleeve he can easily tell she needs someone.
It seems weird to Jade and to us as a reader when he offers her a place to stay and even to work for him as an assistant. But for some reason it feels right to Jade and he feels safe so she agrees. Over the weeks of her stay they get to know each other , but not of their pasts just of the here and now. They both have secrets , we know Jades but we want to know Kylers. A trust is being built and a bond is being formed until Jade makes a discovery during her snooping. With doubts and fears invading her judgement Jade makes a choice that sends the whole story on a roller coaster , but luckily for us we will get our answers as well !!
When their pasts come crashing back into their lives , and yes they do come back with a ton of drama and a HUGE TWIST , can Jade and Kyler overcome their demons to start over.
This is a nice story about the struggle to let go of the past and be open to starting over , there may be such a thing as fate !!
A beautiful and clean romance. This story was so damn beautiful. It captured me completely and I was in love ! To me, it started out dark, but the closer the characters got to emotional freedom, the lighter and stronger the story became. I will give you fair warning that this is no erotica, so do not expect HOT SMEXING.

Kyler is a wonderful beta-type hero who is strong and protective of Jude, but at the same time is gentle, sensitive, loving and compassionate. He is incredibly intuitive of Jude's needs and always tries to see things from her point of view and think of her first. The characters' emotions are brought to life so vividly that the reader can feel all their pain and fears as well as their joy and happiness. Here in lies the heart of the story as these two learn to love and trust each other. This is a slow, sweet love story in which most of the conflict is of an emotional nature.
When you reach the happily-ever-after in this type of book you can literally hear the violins playing in the background and you can envision the couple running towards each other in a field of flowers...they embrace and he swings her round and round....
Oh and that ending! Had my inner girly-girl sighing like a teenager with a crush.
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Break Free manages to be both heart-wrenching and heart-warming in one story. The very first scene is truly disturbing, as are all of Jade's flashbacks. I liked the message in this story, the strength Jade shows when she finally decides to stand up for herself and change her life.
Jade is running from an abusive relationship and a meth addiction. She's truly an amazing character. To recover from one or the other would be extremely difficult, and yet she has to deal with both. Fortune smiles on her when she finds shelter in Kyler's barn. Over time she begins to learn to trust again. Unfortunately for Jade, she discovers she may have trusted the wrong man.
Kyler is also suffering. He is a loner, a recluse in his farmhouse. A writer by trade, Kyler convinces Jade to stay with him and be his assistant. Frankly he comes across almost too good to be true. He's so sweet and understanding to Jade. The reason becomes clear at the end, but you'll have to read it yourself to find out.
Jade was an easy character to like. From the moment she was introduced, I wanted to give her a place to stay and protect her from the abuse she'd experienced. Kyler also was wonderful. He seemed to always know just how to treat Jade to make her feel safe in his presence. I appreciated how the story ended, found it quite satisfying.
All her life Jade Matthews has been hurt and abused and on one of those rare days when she's finally had enough, she decides to run away and this time she isn't stopping or cowarding out and going to ring her abusive boyfriend Heath. Jade keeps on going till she hits the end of the line in a small town community and from there she finds an old barn to sleep in till she can get on her feet and get a job. This is short-lived as the owner of the house finds her and takes her in. He gives her a job, feeds her and clothes her.
Kyler has a dark past, his wife died and he has been accused of killing her. Now he sits inside his house with his dog Edgar named after Edgar Allan Poe and writes his books. When he sees Jade , he can't believe his eyes as this is the girl from his past. As he nurtures her back to health and happiness, the two have sparks fly but what will happen when Jade discovers that he knows a lot more about her past than he is letting on. Will she run and feel betrayed once again or will she let Kyler explain and can Kyler prove that he loves her and isn't just another jerk that wants her for sex and to knock her around ?
Find out in this amazing heart-wrenching and emotional ride by Amber Garza and readers if you do not like reading novels about Abuse done at either the hands of a boyfriend or parent , then this book is not for you.
***Domestic violence doesn’t only happen to married women.***
Amber Garza breaks out with Break Free, an unexpected dark and edgy tale. Break Free is my favorite of Amber Garza’s so far. Jade and Kyler are so easy to love. The plot is intense with a surprising twist. Truly masterful.
I loved the idea of making Kyler a writer. Amber did an awesome job with portraying that life style. I’ve read other stories where the author has a writer as one of the main characters, but they never gave a great sense of what that life style is actually like. Amber knows, and wrote it to perfection. Her writing is wonderful. I don’t read descriptions too often because I don’t like spoilers, so I didn’t know that he was a writer until I’d already gotten swept into the Jade’s story, an abused and beaten young girl.
*I was provided a complimentary copy for an honest review.
This is an absolute masterpiece! I have never been on such an emotional roller coaster with a character before!! I truly wept as I read through some of the experiences that Jade felt.
She feels broken and she is on the run! She runs straight into Kyler and he doesn't really know what to make of her. Together they have to overcome some serious pain from their pasts, but is it worth it?
Break Free is a book I suggest for mature audiences, for graphic scenes, but OMG I LOVED IT!!
I read this in less of a day, that's how much it drew me. Oh Jade was such a heartbreaker, i loved her so much and was so happy she found Kyler. This is a beautiful story of second chances. Loved it!
After the last beating from her boyfriend, Jade decides she is leaving. She sneaks out of the house while her boyfriend is passed. She steals $200 from him and fills her backpack with all of her possessions, which amounts to almost nothing. She heads to the train station and takes off to Red Blossom, a small town in the middle of nowhere. Jade is a meth addict and she doesn't even make it to Red Blossom before the withdrawls set in. She begins to doubt her plans and her ability to quit cold turkey. When she arrives in Red Blossom, there is nothing around. As a city girl, Jade isn't used to the open fields of the country. She finds what looks to be an abandoned barn and decides to sleep there for the night. A dog wakes her up the next day and she meets Kyler, the owner of the dog and barn. Kyler doesn't looks at her with disgust or pity. He just sees her. He makes her breakfast and offers her a job as his assistant. He's writing a book and needs someone to help take care of his dog and things around his house. Jade agrees and they spend the next month becoming more comfortable together. Kyler teaches Jade how to cook. Jade is free from the drugs and abuse. At night they read together. Their relationship grows from stranger to friends to more. Jade is finally seeing herself in a positive light and Kyler makes her feel safe. Everything changes when Jade sees the name of Kyler's current book - The Red Lighter. It's the same tool that was used to scar her face. When she tricks Kyler to go into town, she reads the beginning of the book and realizes it's her story. There is no way that Kyler could know what happened to her, but he does. Added to this, he's been lying to her. How does Kyler know about her past?
I am struggling with my thoughts about this. Jade has suffered lots of abuse and coped by using drugs. The parts where she talks about this aren't the easiest to read, but the way it's told flows well. The story reads super fast once Kyler enters the story. He's sweet and everything Jade needs. Jade reads one of Kyler's books (The Yellow String) and it does make you start to wonder about Kyle and if he is as good as he seems. When Jade confronts him about the book, I was not expecting the turns this story took. I was shocked at Kyler's connection to Jade and how he knew about her past.
The story finishes a little further down the road, so we see some of what happened. It left me wanting more. I hope we get to see more of Jade and Kyler down the road.

This book had me on the edge of my seat. I usually can start to predict where a book is headed while reading it, but I have to give it to Amber Garza, I could not predict how this book would end….
Jade is a girl trying to take a chance a break free from a life of drugs, physical and mental abuse. At first she just appears to be a lost cause that just can’t seem to break the cycle that she has been living in since childhood where men have taken advantage of her and abuse her. After Heath almost killed her again in one of his drunken rages, Jade decides she has to leave and just take the bus as far as she can away from here. This takes her to Red Blossom. Jade stumbles upon a barn to keep her out of the elements she had no idea what she would wake to in the morning.
Kyler is a writer and we learn he prefers to stay on his property alone with his dog Edgar. When Kyler found Jade in his barn, he didn’t ask any questions just offered her food and shelter.
Jade had extreme trust issues with other people and she just couldn’t understand why a person as handsome and nice as Kyler would take time to help her out. But no matter how many times Jade questioned Kyler's motives he continued to show her kindness and offer her the safety and security to stay with him and Edgar. Kyler had many great philosophies and thoughts in life and in his writing. When Jade was having problems with understanding the characters choices in Kyler’s book (the decisions that Clare made) he told her,
“Isn’t that how life is, Jade? It’s our choices that have power. Other people can do things to us, good and bad, but at the end of the day it’s our own choices that make or break us.”
I found this statement to be very profound and true....
I loved this book…It had the power to pull me in and keep me guessing. Jade might have a messed up past, but she is starting to see through the help of Kyler that her past doesn’t make her who she is today or what she will be in the future. The message behind their bond and growing relationship is one that makes you believe in the possibility of happy endings.
When Kyler told Jade that he wasn’t interested in getting to know the person that she used to be, that he only wanted to know the person she was now. It made me love him even more. Throughout the book this similar message is conveyed and I just felt it was so powerful. Thank you Amber for writing an amazing book that touches on some tough topics, and reminds us that our past is not what makes us who we are; we make those choices in the present and future.
Jade is running away from the ugliness in her life. Drugs and Violence. She ends up in a small town where she meets Kyler.
Kyler is a writer. He pays Jade to take care of his dog Edgar so he can write uninterrupted. . He also provides her with a place to live. .Its a great situation for Jade . She finds out people can care for another person without fear.
Tyler has his own problems He feels responsible for the death of his wife. This pain has plagued him for a long while but Jade helps him with it.
They have a beautiful friendship that is finally tested by violence. What will happen..read and find out. You will not be disappointed.
This book is told through Jade. This a perfect choice as much of the story is about her transformation from an addict to a healthy individual. She describes her life with Kyler in great detail. The reader will feel like they are in the same room. While the author does not send Jade to rehab she has Jade expericing all the classic withdrawl symptoms. Kyler is richly described. The reader gets to see every part of him. His likes and dislikes, his feelings on modern technology, the way he feels about writing, and books. Its beautiful to see such honesty. Foods plays a major part if this book. This gives the book a more realistic feel.
The author has given a richly descriptive book that has something for everybody. Enjoy!

Kyler prefers to keep his life simple. No cell phone, hardly ever turns on the tv. . He does have a computer to write and stay in touch with his pulishers. He only ventures out when necessary. Grocery shopping, mailing his maniscripts, and shopping with Jade are the only reasons he goes out. He prefers to read on his downtime.
Jade learns to love this lifestyle despite tge fact that her friends in New York would call her a granny. She lflourishes in thism new environment. She reads ajd analyzes what she reads. Jade is obessex with every book she reads. Iits great to see her brain opened up to new things. In addition to them books, she has tge first cup of hot tea and learns to trust. These things are gentley explained. There is no rush to descibe anything.
When Jade arrives at Kyler's she needs a place to stay.. He takes her in and offers tge job of cleaner and
Break Free is a standalone novel by an author I am a big fan of. Having read several of Amber Garza’s books I was very excited to have been gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review so here goes...
I like Amber Garza’s books, all of the ones I have read have all had something in common, they are light, cheerful love stories that I can guarantee will leave me with a big case of the warm and fuzzies.
Break Free is not at all what I was expecting!!!
If I were to describe the books I have read from this author like a person I would say that they were a perky cheerleader. Well Break Free would be an angry Goth lol!!!
This book is dark and gritty, it’s uncomfortable to read and yet it’s breathtakingly moving and harsh, simply put its brilliant!!
Jade is a hauntingly engaging character, I don’t think I can say I like her but I was completely absorbed by her story.
To say that this book was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster would be a serious understatement!! I felt Jade’s pain and sadness, I cringed as she had flashbacks to her awful abuse and I felt my heart clench as she started to allow Kyler to get close to her.
I think I always knew who was abusing her but I still gasped when she turned to ‘him’ and said “Hi Dad”.
Now Kyler, talk about geek chic lol something about him was sexy which is odd considering that his behaviour was not sexual at all.
It’s amazed me how emotive the relationship between Jade & Kyler is considering they have very little physical interaction they have. I never really felt a sexual spark between them what they feel for each other felt more like and enduring love.
This book is weird and it definitely won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I loved it. Jade & Kylers love story is a quiet one that lingers and quietly creeps across decades of fear and abuse at the hands of the men in Jades life.
When all is said and done I really fell for this book just brilliant 4.5 stars
Well written and edited, with just a couple of issues. This is a stand-alone book with no cliffhanger. 3.5 stars, rounded up.
This book begins as a sad, suspenseful story that has an almost gothic feel, but ends on an optimistic note. While I liked the story, I thought the pacing was a little odd for a woman who had endured the amount of abuse the main character was subjected to. While the relationship was very gentle and sweet, it seemed unrealistic that she would be comfortable with the level of physical contact so early.
Despite the pacing, the couple has chemistry and the author does a good job of generating some heat between them, but it's all very G-rated, because the heat is mostly in her thoughts.
The main female characters starts the story with a chronic drug problem. The depictions of drug addiction were interesting, especially because I don't read about it often, but the pacing on that recovery also seemed to be unrealistically fast.
So, that's pretty much the theme of my entire review. I did like the story, but felt so many of the developments were either unrealistically fast or just too far out of the realm of possibility. If you can suspend your disbelief and just go along for the ride, as I did, I think you'll enjoy the story.
Recommended for fans of gothic romance and suspenseful romance.
What a beautiful story. I cannot appreciate how many times to find a clean romance. They are truly hard to find. I did not know what to expect from this story but the suspense was killing me throughout the whole time. My favorite type of book boyfriends are the geeky, goodlooking, and intellectual so Kyler is one of my faves now.
"Things are replaceable. They can break or be thrown away. They can be burned or damaged, and I could care less. Material things mean nothing to me." His gaze met mine. "People matter, Jade. It's people who mean something." ~Kyler
I swooned so much through this book and wanted to pull Kyler from the pages and give him my own smoochies. With Jade, I just wanted to hug her and tell her that everything would be ok. To remind her beauty comes beneath and not how we look.
"I'm the man who looks at you and sees only beauty. I'm the man who took care of you while you were healing. I'm the man who saved your life and will continue to do so for as long as you'll let me. And I'm the man who is falling desperately for you."
I cannot wait for Break Through which is another book in the series but a standalone. I really enjoyed Break Free and love Amber Garza's novels! She rocks!
From the very first word, this book dripped with emotion - it was a dark, harrowing story of abuse and fear, but also one filled with hope, love and trust.
I will admit that I didn't quite connect with the characters as much as I would have liked, but Jade's story was devastating, and I rooted for her from the start, hoping she'd find happiness. This story also held a bit of mystery, and I was intrigued by Kyler. Why was he so closed off from the rest of the world? Was he anything like the characters he created? And what was his real intent with Jade? I knew he wasn't sinister and he had her best interests at heart, but I got the sense that his compassion for her was more a means to fill a gap in his life.
The story felt a little drawn out at times, and I was expecting more excitement or drama. It did come, but much later in the story, and I was not at all expecting the curveball thrown into the conclusion of this book. Do not assume to know everything about Jade's past, especially when it comes to the flashbacks she experiences throughout the book, because you'll be in for a surprise.
This book was a good read, I just felt a little too detached whilst reading it.
Jade Matthews has lived through enough in her short life to know if she doesn't run now, she will not live much longer. A junkee on the run just needs a chance, Jade is scarred and life has never dealt her a helping hand but running into Kyler James everything changes.
Jade doesn't know the reasons that Kyler is willing to help her. He doesn't ask questions about her past, but he doesn't share a lot about his either. A recluse of sorts Kyler makes Jade feel safe, something she has never had before, until she finds out the secret he is hiding.
Riveting read. Had a very gothic feel to the story and there are a lot of references to Edgar Allen Poe that translate into the tone of the story. I look forward to reading more from this talented author, Kyler and Jade are an amazing couple to read about.
This was a great story that had me guessing from the beginning. It was dark and intense. Jade is a tough chic. Taking abuse but not letting it cripple her psyche. Kyler is understanding and benovolent. A little too much in my opinion but just what she needed to slowly unravel the tangled knots from her past. With severe trust issues from her abusive past AG kept the character solid with no waffling and the romance was perfectly blended and not unbelievable.
My favorite quotes:
"Guys in romance novels weren't real. I always imagined they were made up by some housewife whose husband spent all day watching T.V. and scratchinghis privates."
"It was like the book had a heartbeat, like he's breathed life into the words. I felt like Clara and Robert were as real as Kyler and I, like they were here in this room."
This book didn't really leave too strong of an impression on me. I did think that Jade was a strong character simply for the fact that she took the initiative to escape a violent relationship and give up her drug of choice, meth, at the same time.
There was a lot of the same thing happening everyday in this book. Kyler would work on his book while Jade would play with the dog and then they'd both spend the evening reading.
I enjoyed the glimpses of Kyler's first novel the most. We get to follow along a little as Jade is reading it and I couldn't help but want to read it myself.
While this was a quick read, I could have used a little bit more of...something...to really enjoy this book.
Break Free is one of those stories that is difficult to describe. It's a romance, mystery, inspirational, and gritty book rolled all together. I will add that Amber Garza is a truly gifted writer who I hope will not stop churning out stories for a very long time.

The characters each go through extreme trouble before coming together, but they make each other better (with a small twist at the end!) If you are looking for a book that you can believe in the characters and are pulled into the book this is the book for you! A definite must read!
This is not your typical romance and if you ask me, I'd say the romance takes a back seat to the real story, which is about overcoming pain and misery. It's about escaping from a horrible situation. I loved these characters and I think you will too.
Wow Wow Wow absolutely loved this book. Totally in love with Kyler how could you not be. Jades past is very troubling but with someone like Kyler by her side she'll be fine. Had this on my kindle for awhile glad I finally read it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐◻
