Done in graphic panels, this straight-forward and easy to read book for early readers is just fun. No SEL message about handling grief or big emotions, just two kids playing a game of hide and seek with an adorable cat buddy in a fantastic garden backyard. The illustrations are filled with details that round out the story and the brief dialogue as any good graphic novel will do and also provide caregivers plenty of opportunity to ask questions and help develop the speaking vocabulary of their preschool through 2nd grade children. Could easily be done as a read aloud as a springboard to Spring or gardening conversations and could be used when friendships are the topic of the day. But primarily, this book is a fun way for newly independent and/or emerging readers to practice using their learned sight words with plenty of picture clues to help along the way.

Target audience: preschool thru grade 2; Representation: Based on the illustrations, Monique presents as Caucasian and Clyde is darker skinned. Could be inferred that Clyde lives with an aunt.
