This book was a snoooozer. The perfect book to fall asleep reading 😅 Should’ve DNFed but I was reading it for work-related things. I don’t recommend it honestly 😆
This book was amazing despite other people reviews. The book solely helped me quit smoking weed and vaping. Among other things like limiting the time I spent on my phone or playing video games, controlling what I ate and drank, how I communicated to those I love. I started hitting my gym more and becoming disciplined with the good habits I gained and bad habits I buried. Was it boring; yes. Especially when I don’t think my phone was an issue and it was a main recurring topic. However I highlighted many quotes and still remember them. I started my detox journey the day I got the book; as I read points came up as it was happening to me in real time like relapsing, how to avoid being consumed again, etc. By the end of my 21 days; I felt like I could accomplish anything and was prepared to do it consistently without worrying about falling back onto bad habits. I highly suggest anyone who DNF to finish reading.
I just found this book OK. I listened to it and it was really easy to zone out. I hoped there would be more specific advice and insight to the role of dopamine in addiction. The advice was very generic and really not helpful for anyone really struggling with addiction. THe author include lots of the science of dopamine but it just fell flat.
Honestly I had to DNF this, it was so boring. Most of it didn’t need to be included and I was reminded to take deep breaths far too much. I get it, I feel like it should be targeted more towards people that truly feel hopeless when it comes to their dopamine dependence. The first couple of chapters felt super interesting and informative and then it just started to feel really mechanical.
What I appreciated most about this book was its brevity—it was a quick, approachable read. While I struggled with starting a digital detox, I did find the tips and ideas helpful for easing into the process.
