Sweet On Me

Rate this book
There are four F’s I follow in this life.

Football.

Focus.

Family.

Fearlessness.

Everything was great. I was the golden boy of Syracuse, the star quarterback for the Spartans. And we were going places. Life was perfect.

Until it wasn’t.

One night living in a fantasy with her wasn’t enough to derail my plans.

But one slip of the tongue was all it took for everything to blow up in my face.

I need my career back. My focus is split though. Between making sure I make it up to the fans and showing her I’m not the player she thinks I am. Off and on the field.

She claims one night was enough, but I don’t think I’ll ever be satisfied.

I know she’s sweet on me, just like I’m sweet on her. So she can get her tight end into the end zone, and catch these feelings I’m throwing her way, because I’m not taking no for an answer.

It’s the game of the century. I’m playing for my career, my life, and for her.

And I play for keeps.

Sweet on Me by Koko Heart is an absolute delight—a lighthearted read that strikes the perfect balance between heart, humor and spice. From the very first page, I was completely captivated by the witty dialogue and clever text messaging that peppered the story, making it a truly enjoyable experience.
The characters are wonderfully relatable, particularly Angie and Jenson, whose believable second chance love story will leave you rooting for them every step of the way. Koko Heart has an amazing ability to tell stories that resonate, and this one is no exception. Jenson’s spunky canine sidekick adds an extra layer of charm, injecting fun and humor into the story.
What truly sets this book apart are the engaging supporting characters, from Jenson’s humorous siblings to his quirky parents, each bringing their own unique flavor to the narrative. Their dynamics not only add depth but also showcase the power of family, both genetic and found, that underpins the story.
I absolutely loved the blend of funny, sexy, and sweet moments that kept me turning the pages. Koko Heart’s knack for crafting relatable characters with their own unique quirks makes the reading experience even more enjoyable. Sweet on Me works as a connected standalone, making it perfect for both new readers and those familiar with Koko Heart’s work but fair warning, you will want to go back and read the other books in the series.
Sweet on Me is a refreshing read—an enchanting story that leaves you smiling long after you’ve turned the last page. If you’re looking for a book that delivers laughter, warmth, and plenty of spice, look no further. Highly recommended!

I love a book that makes me want to up sticks and move to live with a fictional family, and this one certainly did.

Jenson and Angie gave me all the feels they go through so much that their final HEA is fully justified, no need for a 3rd act breakup here.

Characters are well developed with recognition of others in this fictional world, building the love we feel towards the whole Brady clan.

This is the 3rd book in the On Me series! I loved the first two books, Count on Me and Lean on Me.

Angie is a gorgeous blonde, blue eyed bombshell raised to believe women need to get married and not have a j o b! But she is a bright, badass feminist working in London with a bunch of misogynistic twats!

Her best friend’s boyfriend’s brother is an American football player in London for a game. Jenson and Angie meet in a bar and have a one night stand.

Life gets completely twisted and two years later Angie gets a great job in America, yes, in the PR department for the team where Jenson is the star quarterback!

The characters in the book are hilarious and loving and sexy and delicious!! And the group chats are filled with the best banter and texts!!

And our girl Koko Heart brings on the spice 🌶️ 🔥 and the filthy talk!!!

Definitely read this entire series and thank me later!!! 💕💕

Sweet On Me is the third standalone romance in Koko Heart's brand new On Me series. A series that features so far, two irresistible--and cheeky--footballers and their better halves. It's time to add a third into the mix.

If you're unfamiliar with the series or have jumped in here, please note that this is a sports-themed romance series. One that I recommend that all readers-regardless of genre preference--should try out, as there is plenty of romance within these three books that balance the sports element out perfectly.

Though this is a read that can be read on its own or out of order within the series, I would recommend that readers start at book one. Get a general feel for the series and the men who will become its main characters, before proceeding through books two and here in book three. It will also be beneficial to do it this way to see Koko's growth as each book comes along, for I believe that she grows stronger as do her books with each instalment.

Jenson Brady follows only four things in his life. Football. Focus. Family. Fearlessness . Nothing more, nothing less. Well, maybe one more 'f' that he does follow. We all know what that one is, don't we folks?

Everything was going great in Jenson's life. He was the golden boy of Syracuse, the star quarterback for the Spartans (American Football). The team was going places and Jenson was set to go there with them. Life couldn't have been more perfect. Until, it wasn't. Cue the curveball that life likes to throw at you when you least expect it to.

One night of living in a fantasy state of mind and seclusion was not enough to derail Jenson, his plans or the direction his life was taking, but one singular slip of a tongue--a feminine tongue--was enough to light the fuse that would have everything blowing up in his face. Does it do it in a minor way in which he can bounce back and dust off his shoulders? Not at all. He isn't that lucky. When things blow up, it does so spectacularly and in style.

Needing to get a hold on himself in order to get his beloved football career back, he finds this difficult when his normal, laser-focused self is dealing with split-focus. He is stuck between making sure that he makes things up to the fans that he has gravely disappointed, while also convincing the lady he has eyes for, that he isn't the player of a person that she thinks he is--on or off the field. No easy feat for any man. Any person.

Angie Sinclair is convinced that the one night she and Jenson shared was more than enough. Him? Not so much. One taste of her was enough to realise that one night was not enough, and that he won't ever be satisfied in having enough of her. That she's as sweet on him as he is on her, without admitting so out loud.

Set on getting her tight end into the end zone, as he puts it, Jenson gives Angie only one choice to be on the receiving end of the feelings he's doing his best to get her to catch. Why? Because he's not taking no for an answer.

With the game of the century--and of his career--coming up, there's nothing else to do but to set his life straight and win his ultimate trophy in Angie. When Jenson plays, he plays for keeps and nothing less.

Before opening the pages, Koko and I chatted and she said that I would love Jenson. She knows me well enough by now to know what I do and don't like in both an MMC and a story, so when she hinted at me loving her new leading man and the story he starred in? I knew I immediately was in for a good time and would fall head-over-ball for Jenson Brady.

The personalised message written to me on the inside, along with her signature, is once again very much appreciated. I count myself very lucky to have such a friend in her as much as I do one of the authors I'm able to read and adore.

Back with another Brady, we are this time swapping out English football for American football, going Stateside for our next leg of this sports romance series. Jaxson and Lockheart were, in their own unique ways, book-boyfriend worthy, but after reading their stories and now here with Jenson? I can hand on heart say that he is in fact my favourite Brady and MMC of the series. He's a complex bag of many personality traits and qualities, which makes him all the more appealing to me as a reader. He wasn't written to be perfect, and the growth he goes through and the journey he went on to become a better version of himself. He loves as big as the game he plays on the field, and he really didn't take his eye off what he wanted, and Angie was always his end goal. His endgame. I didn't just like his character, I LOVED him. Out of all the characters that Koko has created, he is up there among my top favourites. I really hope others get to know and love him as much as I did. As I do.

A moment has to be dedicated to our leading lady as well. Angie. What a woman. After life knocked her down, she didn't lie down and accept defeat. No ma'am. She got up and decided it was time for something new, something different, and took the plunge and life into her hands in unknown waters. There comes a time in all of our lives when we too must have to do this, even if we are anxious and scared, and I feel the way that this was shown though Angie and her own journey was done so with dignity and respect. Koko has written a character in her that all of us can champion, and champion her I did. She was one-hundred percent written perfectly for Jenson.

What also was written perfectly, was THAT twist at the end. Well, almost at the end. We were almost at the end when a curveball--much like the ones that were thrown unexpectedly at Jenson at the beginning of the book--was thrown in. I certainly didn't see it coming and as an astute reader who tries to guess what happens, it was a welcome way to be caught out in the nicest way possible. It kept me wishing for that happily ever after, which I--and others--were granted.

In this book, I saw echoes of the potential I saw from Koko's debut novel, Mine, Always. I said in that review for it, that I could see glimpses at what I knew she was able to achieve as she releases one book after the other, getting stronger and stronger in her writing for her own voice and style. I knew she had it in her to create stories that would entrance readers and give someone a chance to have her as their favourite, and I still say that is true thanks to what I read with Jenson and Angie and their story. Those echoes are now fully-fledged strengths that show now what back then I knew she was capable of. Of course, there is always room for even more growth as we never ever stop learning and adapting who we are, but I'm incredibly proud of what she was able to achieve here from those humble beginnings.

Keep going, Koko. Give us even more books, characters and their stories for us to love you for even more than we do now.

Five stars!

Such a fun book!
I loved everything about this book! Angie and Jenson get a 2nd chance at love after an emotional one night stand that left them both reeling. Years later when they wind up working for the same company they slowly make their way back to each other with the help of hilarious family and friends. I loved both main characters and how they approached their feelings with maturity and care. This is part of the ON ME series, but I haven’t read any of the others yet, and I was not lost at all. Jump right into this book, it’s great!

This was my first Koko Heart novel, and I usually don't like to start a series anywhere but from the beginning. But I was told this can be a standalone, so I took a gamble, and you absolutely should too. What a fun, second chance love story this turned out to be. And instead of feeling lost starting with book 3, it made me want to go back and read the other characters stories.

Funny, snarky dialogue, none of that third act breakup nonsense that we all groan about, found family that interact, like a true family and the color orange. These are the things to look forward to in this great story from Koko Heart!

This book was an unexpected pleasant surprise. I haven't read the previous two novels in this series, surprisingly it works as a stand alone, but I will definitely be going back to read them now. I also should mention that I am not one who follows sports much. I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy "Sweet on Me" because of this, but the world of sport is just the setting where the story takes place. The characters are so endearing and well written. From the first chapter, I found Angie and her initial plight, as well as her relationships with her friends, very relatable.

This book definitely falls in the romantic comedy category for me. Tons of snark and the practical jokes between the Brady family members & the family group texts got more than a few snorts out of me. A bunch of sexual tension mixed with spicy encounters between Angie & Jenson, as well as some seriously hot characters, on both sides of the pond, made this book a hit for me.

Finally! I've been waiting to find out the backstory for Jenson and Angie for some time now. It was worth the wait. I had a feeling that Jenson had done something stupid and I was right. Mama Brady is a fabulous mama that we all want. Just remember to trust Koko as she always gives us a HEA (even when she rips our heart out at the very beginning- *giving the side-eye to I'm All Yours*) I laughed so hard at this one, especially with all the Britishisms/Americanisms as I'm an American who lived in London for a semester. Also having a son who toured colleges and Syracuse was his second choice made this one even more poignant for me. Definitely recommend reading this one.

This novel is so freaking wonderful. I have laughed, cried, cried laughing, snorked multiple beverages through my nose, sprayed my Kindle with tea, fanned myself with my hand (and a large envelope that was fortunately close at hand), and absolutely swooned. It is my favorite Koko Heart book so far. Yep, Jenson and Angie have seriously stolen my heart. And this is such a wonderful level-up book for Koko. It's steamy, full of heart, and has so much incredible banter. I will most definitely be re-reading this one often.

What I Love About It:

Hilarious group texts. Especially Chapter 16
A heroine whose attitude and snark rivals my own
There may be groveling
Dirty-talking hero with a huge... heart
Solid and authentic dialogue
The humor is on point, the banter epic
Tears. From laughter and some incredibly deep emotional scenes
Family ties that extend far beyond the family you’re born into
Otto and the orange thong.

I love all of Koko Heart’s books but this is her best yet! She gave us these two characters whom I loved almost from the beginning, and it was fun to watch how the author brought them (back) together.

As with all Koko’s stories, the family texts and chats are hilarious and had me laughing, crying, and glad I wasn’t drinking anything so I didn’t spew it out on my Kindle! She really brought out the spicy times and Jenson’s dirty mouth is so hot! This story of found family, acceptance, and love will pull out all the emotions and leave you with a happy ending. Even with a few misunderstandings and miscommunications, there is no 3rd act breakup in this story. This is book 3 of the author’s Sweet On series and can be read as a stand-alone but you are going to want to read Lean On Me and Count On Me too!

Never has a title of a book encompassed all the feels from the story as much as this does! I loved Jenson and Angie and their surprise second chance that they get to have. Despite the start of their story, Jenson quickly became very hard to hate and very easy to swoon for! Koko does an exactly job incorporating side characters who those familiar with her stories already love while making the book read as a standalone for new readers to easily love, too. This series of found family includes all the feelings you want in a good small-town romance!

Book 3 of the On Me Series.

This is the first book by this author that I have read but I am glad that I found her. This book is fantastic and because it is book 3 of a series, I will have to go back and read the other 2 for sure! Sweet on Me gives us Angie and Jenson. They both fall in love with each other at first site but we know it is never that easy!

Koko does a great job keeping the reader intwined with this book and I just know all of her previous books as well.

I can't even describe how much I love Jenson and Angie. I knew at some point there was going to be a massive groveling happen and it was on point! I also laughed so hard at the family text messages, they were pure comedic gold. His family are so funny and Angie's sass and snark was hilarious. This may be Koko's best book yet!

I think I have found my new favourite book boyfriend. Jenson is "Hot". And after leaving Angie in the middle of the night without leaving his phone number he has a lot of making up to do. But he is up to the challenge.
Angie on the other hand doesn't want to forgive Jenson until slowly but surely he proves he is worth the risk. I loved this book so much. It was love a first sight for both of them. Jenson was just too afraid to face it at first. But all bets were off when he realised that Angie was nearer to him than he thought. And Jenson is definitely swoon worthy.
