18 short stories filled with madness, dread, death, and more. This is another beautifully dark collection by Newton that you need to add to your tbr. All these stories were excellent but I'd like to highlight my 3 stand outs

A Portrait Of Sin: Giovanni was a local painter in Florence when Bishop Lorenzo came knocking at his door. The Bishop wanted a painting of the Virgin Mary done and Giovanni was going to do it for a very good price. He got a deadline and started working. But he was having a hard time painting the perfect picture. Sleepless nights, fights with his partner, Giovanni was going mad. So mad that reality wasn't real anymore.
- I think this is my favourite one of the collection. I love maddening stories and this was just that!

The Troop: Sam and Wendy have moved into a new apartment. Sam runs into his next door neighbour who is a tad odd and studies mushrooms/fungi. Things are good until Wendy starts to get really sick.
- Fungus scares me because it's a real thing and I feel it will take us out one day. This story terrified me and confirmed that fugus will take us out

The Catfish Killer: Jedd was on a local dating site looking for a good time. When he sees a banging body, he's intrigued. Only problem is, she doesn't show her face. But he couldn't turn down that body so he gives her his address and she comes. Be careful who you invite over.
- Jedd got exactly what he deserved and I wish we could have seen more of his demise! I enjoyed what was under the mask and crave more!

Go grab yourself a copy of Volume 3 today! I promise you, there's something for everyone in here. Excellent collection!

A spine-tingling collection of character-driven horror (the best kind)! Love how Webb deftly conjures up so many different worlds and periods of history. I felt so immersed in each story's world, especially those set in the past - though I'm not sure I'd actually want to live in any of them...

Most of the horror has a supernatural element, but there's a lot of psychological horror too. My stand-out favourite story was Ain't Nothin' But The Blues - I was whisked away to New Orleans and the ending was beautiful. The Blood Eagle was especially brilliant and tragic (as well as rather gory), and The Winter Wraiths was surprisingly moving.

All in all, a cracking selection of creepy tales!.

This really is a terribly good collection of horror stories! Some twists you really don't see coming. Creatures are very well thought out. The story of the painter and the Virgin Mary has haunted my thoughts for days!

It is written in a beautiful way and I think a big plus is that it takes place in the past, so outside of modern technology. This also gave a more scary atmosphere. Definitely recommended!.

This book presents fascinating stories that showcase the author's skill as a master of horror. Each tale is intricately woven with a charm that keeps readers engaged and prompts them to ponder the boundary between what's real and what's supernatural. These stories delve into weaknesses and the shadowy facets of the characters, resulting in a thrilling read. In essence, this crafted work blends fear and anticipation, leaving readers hungry for tales.

This was most definitely just as dark as the rest of these books. These tales are most definitely out there but some what believable. This author's writing is very well and makes it easier to get immersed in these tales.

Elegant, chilling, well written. Engrossing. This was a great set of short (perhaps too short?) stories. Honestly a few of them could have stood to be a bit longer but all around excellent!.

I had been eagerly awaiting Vol 3 of Tales of the Macabre, but this just didn't live up to the quality of its predecessors.

Still a solid 3.5 and for $6 you don't have much to lose.

The story about the cocaine addict was particularly hilarious. Baggy anyone?

Newton Webb weaves a story like a spider weaves a web. Not to mention, I also find myself reading his books in his voice.

All 18 of these macabre tales pull you in and keep you there while also bringing you on a creepy journey through different eras.
