~*~*~*~

Billie Beringer teased me relentlessly for over a decade—as a friend.

The lead singer in a glam rock band, she's wicked cool. Meanwhile, I practically live in my parents' antique shop. I've always been a good boy, listening to their rules and helping out around the mall. When Billie kisses me on the cheek, she nearly reveals what I really am.

I want her like nothing else. She strikes a hunger in me that I'm sick of holding back.

Only problem is, if I give in, the monster in me might get out.

And once he’s out, who knows if he’ll ever stop?

Fed After Midnight is an unusual friends-to-lovers Halloween monster romance set in an 80s mall, featuring three special rules that should never be broken (and absolutely do), public play, body horror, ethically ambiguous doppelgängers, and eating out after midnight.

Such an over the top story and so fun. Billie and William were cute together in their weird banter and opposite personalities. She loosened him up and he was super supportive. I enjoyed the lore and would have loved more information about the how and why of it all, but understand that in a novella that can be hard to do. Overall, good read.

Spice: 3/5

Triggers: dubcon touching, overbearing parents, body horror, mention of homophobia, discussion of racism

I fell in love with Billie and William in Creepy Court and love it even more so now! The new edits and addition to the story really round it out and it was such a pleasure to read it again. Latrexa's stories are always amazing and this one is easily one of my favorites. Gremlins but make it 80s, YES PLEASE.

I liked the concept a lot, I just wish we could have at least one scene of William and Billie having spicy time in human form but nonetheless it was an entertaining read

This was so good.
If you’re a Gremlin fan... read it, you’ll see why.

Billie is so great. She’s fun and carefree, and she’s in a rock band.
While she’s trying to live her best life and explore her passions, William is the opposite.
He’s reserved, quiet, and follows the rules.

They are really two halves of a whole, especially when William lets out his “other half”.

I love the nickname Billie gave the “other half”, made me giggle every time.
I was very happy with this HEA and cute little 🌶️ slow-burn.

I never thought anyone could make Gremlins sexy. But just like the movie, the first half is really sweet -- William is shy, reserved, a little bit nerdy and Billie is a punk rocker with a lot of personality who chases him. Lots of fun banter and awkwardly cute non-date dates. The second half is such a smutty trip with distinct horror vibes. It's brilliantly done.

I could tell this was adapted from a short story. The relationship is well developed but as characters, especially Billie, we don't really understand their background or motivations. For example, it's mentioned several times that Billie's parents are bankers. It's even suggested that her dad is trying to assimilate to WASPy culture, but we really don't get a clear picture of how that animates Billie (maybe that's why she's a struggling punk rocker?). That said, there is a strong sense of finding acceptance, love, and home in each other. Very enjoyable read, especially for the fall spooky season

I was literally smiling the whole time reading this. Don’t ask me why it took me so long to figure out what was going on with William when the title is the biggest clue! This was such a silly read but it was actually really heartfelt and cute too. I loved William and Billie’s dynamic, her trying to pull him out of his shell and him trying to hard to reel in his attraction to her. When he finally did snap, it was soooooo good.

The magic and transformation elements were super interesting too, I liked that the other William didn’t just disappear after he was made. The dynamic between all three of them was amazing, especially because it was all of William’s deep desires finally out in the open. This has such a classic monster romance feel and I’m a big sucker for 80s stuff. I also love Gremlins and I watch it every Christmas lol! Super fun, quick read that I definitely recommend for spooky season!

Fed After Midnight by @latrexanova is a monster smut novella loosely based around the idea of the Mogwai from Gremlins. William can't stand the light of day, he can't get wet, and he can't eat after midnight. And he's been in love with Billie for years. She kissed him once, and he almost turned. Billie is a rockstar and all around hottie. And she had been in love with William for years, despite him running off after she kissed him. They stay friends, but he never leaves the mall and barely leaves the family antique store. But she's wearing him down. And when she finally tears down his defenses, things do NOT go the way she planned. This book is cute, nostalgic, and when the spice hits... it is surprising and shockingly good.

If you're looking for a spooky season monster smut read, Latrexa Nova has delivered with this book, and she has more out now and coming soon before the end of the month. Go give her a follow and peep the links in her bio for more information.

I never thought Gremlins could be made sexy, but this story does just that! The first half is charming and features William, a shy nerd, and Billie, a vibrant punk rocker who pursues him. Their playful banter and awkward “non-date” dates are a delight.

The second half takes a spicy turn with strong horror vibes. While the relationship develops well, some character backgrounds—especially Billie’s—are a bit underexplored. We learn about her parents' banking careers, but it doesn’t fully clarify how this shapes her punk identity.

Overall, the themes of love, acceptance, and finding a sense of home in each other are beautifully conveyed. This book is a fantastic read for the spooky season, with a satisfying build-up of tension that makes the spice even more enjoyable. Perfect for anyone looking for a spooky, spicy escape!

So I went into this one blind and it was a trip!!
The first half of the book starts off super sweet and cute. Boy meets girl, he falls in love but holds himself back. However, said Girl is fiesty, and over the years, she pursues him and is determined to get what she wants.
You read it thinking, "Will they? won't they? WHEN WILL THEY?" And then he starts to crack. You think "aww he's a vïrgïn, and he's in love - it's going to be all cute and romantic," but no, you'd be wrong. Because he's a monster with YEARS of pent-up sëggsual frustration....then sh!t gets weird!
You'll go from thinking "ooh this is starting to heat up" to "WTF just happened? WTF is going on? WTF DID I JUST READ?".
It was quite the experience! Not your momma's Gremlins, that's for sure!

Gleeful Goblin Review: This is a super fun read that hits notes of nostalgia in a similar way to how Stranger Things does. For someone who would have had similar experiences in the time the book takes place like hanging out in malls all day, niche music and small shows, going to movie dates as the only way to experience new media, etc. it definitely brings up nostalgia and familiarity. I also think the author does a great job of blending real life nostalgia with the fantastical and paranormal, just like Stranger Things. It's a very cool feel to the world and I enjoyed my read through! 5/5 Stars

"Fed After Midnight" is an absolute must-read for me! It was originally featured in Creepy Court, and I couldn't be more thrilled that Latrexa Nova turned it into its own standalone novella for those who missed out on it. This book is an absolute gem!

It's a quick and thrilling read, with a slow burn that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The story follows William, who falls head over heels for Billie at first sight but keeps his distance because he comes from a long line of ancient monsters. Billie likes him back, and the tension between them is electrifying, but still William is hesitant to move their relationship forward...even a friendship is challenging. She literally has to wear him down and convince him to be friends and then he finally gives in. Over the years of friendship though, their mutual pining is off the charts!

But William has so many rules that leave Billie confused as he constantly runs away. No water...well no getting wet and no food after midnight... What will happen as the two of them give in to their hormones and feelings and break the rules? The slow burn intensifies into scorching heat as soon as William gives in!

This novella is a wild ride from start to finish! Latrexa's writing style is captivating, and her imagination is truly spellbinding. "Fed After Midnight" is another masterpiece that's not just about spice – it tells a compelling story and builds up the characters. It's an absolute thrill to read!

This book was so adorable and such a fun ride! I loved the nostalgic 80s mall setting. I never quite knew where this book was going and that is always really exciting.
William, the MMC, stole my heart. He is such a cute little cinnamon roll of a guy. Billie, the FMC, was such a strong and assertive character. The relationship between them was a complete will they/won't they slow burn and I just wanted it to work out for them so bad!
I would totally recommend this book! I even think I will reread it and I don't do that often ♥️♥️♥️

At no point in my life did I think I would see gremlin spicy story, but here we are.
William and Billie spend their entire friendship secretly in love with the other, but William is cautious cause of his "condition". After almost a decade of this, they finally go on a date and throw caution to the wind! But William's "condition" rears its head in way that will have you going AHHHH! But now there are two Williams. And double the Williams mean double the fun.
This was a fun story, a bit of a slow burn but when the flame comes on, it's high heat. Very Enjoyable.

Monster romance/ Friends to lovers/ slow burn/ size difference

Going into this I for sure thought I was gonna slapped in the face with some monster smut but I was so pleasantly surprised to get some cute friendship building and 70’s and 80’s setting with a punk fmc and a shy virgin mmc and some strong tension before the big ‘reveal’ and yes, it’s VERY big🤭 If you love Friends to lovers, “two is better than one”, and some public play this is PERFECT! Definitely add this to your spooky tbr or just your tbr in general you will not be disappointed!! And yes, the title means exactly what you think 👀

Ughhhhh I LOVE Gremlins - so to get the opportunity to read a spicy monster romance with major 80’s Gremlin vibes - I was in heaven.

I love how Billie and William meet, I was kinda getting a little bit of secondhand embarrassment for Billie up ons stage, while all her band’s equipment went haywire but in total punk rock style - Billie did not give an eff 😂 and William just standing there causing the mayhem 😂 it was such a great start and immediately got me feeling the feels.

The trajectory of their relationship, character development and story progression was fantastic and such a good adaptation from the Creepy Court short story.

✔️ Spooky vibes
✔️ Smutty
✔️ 1980’s mall vibes
✔️ Gremlins inspo
✔️ Diverse characters
✔️ Gorgeous cover

Old school 70s and 80s vibes. Monster mall with hidden secrets.

William represses all his natural monster instincts. He has to blend in and follow all his dad’s rules. But Billie pushes all his boundaries. She’s always been into him. And he’s always been super into her too. And she calls to his inner monster.

When things finally progress secrets are revealed. And things get spicy!
It’s a great quick and monstrous read.

Don’t pass this up if you’re looking for a fun read and love monster romance.

I received an ARC of this for free. I am voluntarily leaving this review.

This book is a wild ride. It’s why choose retelling of Gremlins! It was so good, Gizmo. Am I the one that greedy? William and Billie have been friends for a long time. She’s a rock star and he runs his families antique store at the mall. On Halloween, some magical stuff takes place. This will be your next read for spooky season.

Thank you Latrexa and your team for allowing me to arc this book! I can’t wait to read more of your books!

Sweet & Spicy

I really enjoyed this book. It's not your typical monster romance that jumps straight into the spice. I loved that we got to follow how Billie and William had some false starts but became longtime friends. When they finally gave into their mutual attraction, it was HOT. The 80s era gremlin-esque twist on a monster romance was both fun and steamy. I also appreciated the representation in the POC characters. This novella definitely delivered.

OMG! William is such a darling, sweetheart candy boy with a perverted, naughty center. Billie is wonderfully spunky and has the patience of an angel when it comes to her feelings and relationship with William. But eventually her patience runs out and so does Williams and their slow, sweet story explodes fast and hard (and spicy!)

Amazing story based on the Gremlins story (which I didn’t connect until chapter 12 and a snack break). Perfect read for Halloween or any other time of the year.

Thank you so much for this ARC! 🥹

I know there's spice, but why did I find this book SO cute?! I know why William was keeping Billie at arm's length, but there was just something about these two going around each other for a decade before they give in and act on it that I found adorable 🙈 and the spice hits just right between these.....three 😉

fun and freaky read!

Okay this was such a fun read! I absolutely loved William and Billie’s story and all the bumps along the way. I’ve not read a lot of monster romance but this was so cute because William is just a precious good boy with a secret that could potentially send Billie screaming, but doesn’t because she’s been obsessed with William for years. I love their banter and the moment William says f it and goes for what he wants. 4.7/5 stars!!!

Hot. Diggity. Damn. I already like Gremlins but if they were anything like this it would be my favorite movie hands down. I love the characters dancing around each other and building up that sweet sweet sexual tension then BAM! Double or nothing. I wish we had this mall where I live, I'd never leave. Another winner from Latrexa Nova!!

“It’s not enough to be nice when you’re fighting the monster that lives inside you.”

Fed After Midnight takes you back to the 70s and 80s, to the world of shopping malls and gremlins, and the ride is wild, spicy, and so much fun. It’s easy to fall into a quick friendship with William and Billie and feel like you’re hanging out at the mall in his family’s antique shop or the food court with them. The first half of this quick read was slower-paced, focusing more on the budding friendship(and attraction from him) between William and Billie. William is a quiet, shy, family-oriented character with a few secrets, and he’s paired perfectly with outspoken punk rocker Billie, who brings a little spontaneity to William’s subdued life.

I loved how, despite the few pages, the story did not cut off abruptly, nor were we rushed through their friendship and romance. The monster spice in this book was perfectly done, and just when I thought we were moving on, some more smut was brought out to play. This book is perfect for those who are friends to lovers, retro/nostalgia, monster romance, size difference, slow burn, and public play.

This was my first Latrexa story and guuuurl, you totally surprised me with a spicy Gremlins inspired romance set in the ’70s and ’80s! This was such a fun and unique read! I’m a big fan of monster romances, but I never thought I’d see gremlins in this light and now I’m questioning everything, in the best way possible. Definitely a fresh twist, and I’d highly recommend it!
