From the Amazon and Wall Street Journal #1 bestselling authors of the Zodiac Academy series Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti.
The sky is burning. The Reapers are keeping secrets. Vampires roam the wastes. And I’m headed down a path of destruction which can only end in death.
I’m a soul cast adrift on a tide of grief and lies. A clock ticking down the moments to my inevitable destruction, and all I can do is race towards it.
The nations are caught in this endless battle for supremacy and it’s hard to see myself as anything other than a pawn in the twisted games I’m helpless to control.
The Waning Lands are screaming, soaked in blood for so long that even the rivers run red with it. But those screams are whispering riddles that only some of us can hear, begging us to see the signs and listen to the meaning beneath the words we chant so obediently.
What if there is something more to this war? What if winning isn’t what actually matters? What if our magic isn’t the thing that truly divides us?
My heart is hardened to the wants of the world and all who occupy it, yet still I hear them call my name. Perhaps it’s time I started listening and found out why the stars have set us this fate. Or if not the stars, then who?
Something is rotting at the heart of our lands. So now I have a choice to make. Will I seek out the decay and work to destroy it? Or will I join it in its destruction of this world in vengeance for all the suffering it has offered me?
I’m starting to want things I shouldn’t want. Desire a man I should hate. Care for a warrior I should only wish to harm. The point is, I’m beginning to feel like more than just another pawn in this endless game. But if I want to be the one who rolls the dice then I’m going to have to pay the price of playing for real.

It was nowhere near perfect but boy, this is addictive. There's a lot of things that can be improved about this series and the way it's written but the plot and characters? *chef's kiss* 🤌
It took me a while to remember things from the first book but maybe that was just my issue. But I would be immensely appreciative if the authors planned on adding a character guide or a recap to the latter books. There's a lot of characters apart from the main ones to keep track of and sometimes it just confuses me.
But moving on, I loved how action packed it was. There was always something happening and not much of it was a filler. It all added up either to the bigger narrative or character complexities and I always eat it up. The writing is imo definitely far better than Zodiac Academy and more mature which sets this series apart from their other works. The side characters and their pov definitely adds to the story and thankfully it was just balanced right.
Everest and Vesper? Oh gosh, the feminine rage that they carried was something I loved to see. Sure, they both can be a bit humble but I'm going to assume that's exactly what is going to happen in the next book 😅 But I truly love how badass they are in their own different ways. The depths to their character is far more than Darcy and Tory. I love how the men don't take their spotlight.
Kaiser and Bastian? I can't pick one. I love them both 😭😭 They're so messed up, so morally grey and yet they're the perfect leads to those badass women. I loved how perfect they are. They're wicked, cold, aloof and brooding... And hot. Basically everything you could want in your mmc's. I'll honestly take them both.
The enemies to lovers and slow burn in this series is being so amazingly well, it physically pains me. The angst nearly made me throw my kindle. Kaiser and Everest are more so like Darcy and Lance. Vesper and Bastian are more so like Tory and Darius. And I ate both of their chemistry up 😩😭
The ending? I knew the cliffhanger was going to be brutal. I NEED THE NEXT BOOK!!!!
~•~•~
Time to dive into the Twisted sisters' world again. Bracing myself for the brutal cliffhanger that is sure to come 😩
IF THEY WRITE IT, I WILL READ IT. a great follow up to Never Keep and yet another crazy whirlwind of a read by the twisted sisters! i really enjoyed getting all the new POVs in this second book and reading this has definitely brought to mind so many new theories on where this could be going. the war politics in this has me hooked and i am so unbelievably invested in this story!! again a truly stomach turning ending (in true twisted sister style) and my love for Vesper and Everest has only grown more. side note - please tell me why Kaisers internal monologue was so funny hahahaha.
This book was a start-to-finish ride. I could not put it down. We’ve got multiple storylines, all equally gripping, and two of the most badass female main characters I’ve read in a while, AND A DRAGoN SHIFTeR.
If you've been craving something to fill the Throne of Glass shaped hole in your heart, this is it. Don’t be deterred by the first 100 pages of book 1 because this series is fast paced and digestible.
The ending? Whoa….👌. I LOVE Kaiser ❤️. And trust me I was Darius Acrux’s girl since ZA so I am surprised that someone can be even better BUT here we go 🥰🥰🥰. Ok, maybe not better but close enough 💕.
The story is good, quick paced and there is even a bit of comedic relief that I couldn’t find in book 1 so it was great !
As in the previous book a struggled with Vespers POVs, found them a bit boring TBH 🤷♀️.
I did have fun and I would recommend this series 💯%.
"Our choices were made, our destinies set, but I never could have prepared for the pain of that goodbye."
WHAT. THE HELL. WAS THAT????? THAT LAST CHAPTER IS CRIMINAL. THE LAST FEW CHAPTERS WERE BRUTAL?? I know at this point I should expect this from the twisted sisters but seriously are you for real???? I'm feeling pain, rage, more pain and oh I want to throttle a very specific person. Ugh. But otherwise, oh my god this book!!!!
Spoilers from Never Keep below!! (and slight spoilers from Echo Fort but major spoilers hidden)
I knew from the moment I had finished Never Keep that Echo Fort would be a 5 star and I was right. Where Never Keep was a 3.5, my problem being that the middle was such a slog (the ending was amazing though omg 5 star ending), Echo Fort did not have one dull moment!! Like truly I didn't feel like there were any filler moments and every POV chapter felt so important and added so much to the overall plot. And while I did still have favourite POVs in which I was eager to get to more than others (Everest, my love), I really enjoyed all the other POVs (well okay not all, I'm just thinking about the main POVs) aka Vesper's surprisingly... but tbh for her it was more for what they were doing rather than Vesper herself as I still do not like her very much. In fact, after that ending I want to snap that girl's neck. Girl was literally pissing me off so much and those last few chapters really had me at my wit's end.
But oh getting Kaiser's POV was just as amazing as I thought it would be!!! LIKE HELLO I WANT TO GIVE HIM A HUG MY BABY😭 KAISER BRIMTHEON😭😭 Was he evil for having Everest under his control and making her follow his commands? Yes. But also he thankfully never crossed a line and you know what considering they're at war & enemies and looking at what Pyros usually does with their captives, he was honestly so chill?? But back to Kaiser--getting to see what he was thinking?? Oh man, it's as Vesper said, he's like an empty vessel😭 No feelings, no emotions. Just nothing. EXCEPT THOSE CERTAIN MOMENTS WITH EVEREST AHHH . Anyhow, I fell in love with Kaiser even more than I was before and once again I KNOW book 3 will make me love him even more
Okay and I have to talk about the love of my life, Everest Arcadia!!! She is so full of emotion, I love seeing her strength, kindness and anger, like go girl!! Get your revenge on everyone who's ever messed with you!! I'm a bit worried next book she will fall for someone's manipulation but I pray she isn't that desperate for their love??? Like in a way I get it but I also hate that bastard so I hope she doesn't listen to everything they say... Otherwise while I didn't like some decision she made at the end, I understood it?? It was better than the alternatives that's for sure, but I still sigh. Honestly every fae in this world is messed up and they all need help😭 The endless war really does seem endless but they all need to see who the real enemy is!! But I digress. I will also say that I love that Everest is slowly starting to see past the brainwashing (propaganda? or whatever you can call this) of the whole "other lands are evil and everyone there is evil, our land is superior and should rule the world" nonsense. It's slow but steady progress. Everest remains my favourite character and I was always so eager to read her chapters they were my absolute favourites (along with Kaiser's of course though his were few).
Then there's Vesper. I mentioned it before that I actually liked getting her chapters and I did to an extent. The travelling through Pyros was definitely interesting and I actually felt bad for her sometimes with her grief but... Listen, I get that she's mourning and feeling guilt over falling for Cayde's seduction & lies which led to her Dalia and Moraine's death but also??? This girl is dumb as hell. From the beginning why would she not go after Cayde right away, infiltrating Avanis and getting her revenge?? WHY would you listen to that manipulative bastard of a prince Dragor??? Sure, don't trust your judgement I guess but who cares about that as long as you can get your revenge on Cayde right??? But no! Instead she listens to Dragor to drag back poor Bastian into captivity AGAIN like what the hell😭 This guy has already suffered 250-300 years in isolation while being tortured by the Reapers and JUST got back his freedom (where everyone he knows and loves is dead too??) and you want him to go back to captivity again under a different tyrant??? But that was basically Vesper's chapters trying to bring back Bastian... Bastian's chapters were so good though and I loved getting his chapters they were so interesting!! I'm also really wondering if there'll ever be any connection to Solaria in this series since we know dragons exist in Solaria but here in the Waning Lands, we know Bastian to be the only dragon to exist.
And then Septa!! Completely new character!! I really enjoyed her chapters and I'm so curious as to what her purpose in future books will be. As of now I am soo shipping her and Earl Talford together like that one line he said about her??? "Were our places reversed, I couldn't imagine having had a single space in my mind for anything or anyone in the entire world and starlit sky above than the beautiful creature before you." OH HE IS SO SMITTEN WITH HER, HE HAS TO BE. Also it looks like Septa has some disability? I think that's a first we're getting from the Zodiac world and I'm so here for it!! Love the representation and I can't wait to see where her character leads to.
Okay now the relationships in this book?? I know Bastian is most likely the love interest for Vesper but as of now I think he deserves better than her😭 But you know what, I'm sure the twisted sisters will redeem her (I mean if they were able to for the Heirs then they definitely can for Vesper). But as of now, they had their moments and I guess I just don't care about their romance?? NOW EVEREST AND KAISER THEY ARE SOULMATES THEY HAVE TO BE I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL. THEY HAVE SO MUCH CHEMISTRY TOGETHER??? The conversations they had omg one of them had me dying help Kaiser can't even recognize sarcasm😭😭 Also the vulnerable moments between the two?? I can feel the tension but this was so not enough and I expect book 3 to give me more KaiserEverest moments ASAP. This is such a slow-burn though, a very painfully slow slow-burn but it'll make the moment where everything explodes so worth it. My loves!!!🥹
Lastly, the plot!! There was so much going on??? It's why I had no issue with the pacing of this book and I love the way it all tied together. There's the war, the Reapers, the prophecy, the stars (something's going on there), and then just all the individual nations and their politics. And really the characters just make it even better because there are so many you either hate or love. I was hooked completely which I mean I finished this all in under 48 hours so that should say it all.
If it wasn't obvious by now, I adored Echo Fort so much and I'm so happy that it was a 5 stars. Vesper may have pissed me off but I'm not letting that ruin my love for this book. KAISEREVEREST FOREVER🫶 (I'll never look at "Silka la vin" the same way ever again.) And also props to the sisters for somehow making this darker than I ever imagined, these characters are genuinely all insane. I can't wait for Cinder Vale and once again I just know it has the potential to be even better than this was.
____________
here for the kaiser & everest angst we're gonna be served🥰
I am fighting for my freaking LIFE after that ending. What just happened????!!!
We pick up immediately after Never Keep (thank you GOD), and we just take off on even more unhinged madness that I can’t pry my nosy ass away from.
Everest and Vesper?? Some of my fav FMC’s ever. Vesper gives Manon, Everest gives hardass with a gooey center. I love them both equally and will hear nothing about it.
Kaiser? A menace (but I love him). Bastian? The sweetest of all hearts.
Also curious to see how Septa bleeds into the story in the upcoming books.
Now did the ending rip out my heart?? Yes. But that is how it goes when you read the Twisted Sisters books.
Excellent, 5 stars, compliments to the chef (just pls make it less painful next time, for me)!!!
um…. this was brutal. i need the next book like yesterday to know the fate of a *certain* character that wormed their way into my heart !!!! feeling devastated that this is over for now. there are literal tears streaming down my face bc of that ambiguous ending !!!!! ugh.
i still don’t have it in me to write a proper review for this book but i loved it !!! i don’t think it’ll be everyone’s cup of tea, but as a ZA girly, i loved it. i think i’m loving this series even more so far !! i can’t wait to see where it goes. the fmcs are amazing and i love bastian and kaiser too!

♥️ What I Loved I’m sorry but if you’re out here begging for something different, something that doesn’t just recycle the same tired tropes with copy-paste characters, then WHAT are you doing if you haven’t picked this up? This series is absolutely freaking unhinged in the BEST way. It’s enemies to lovers but you don’t even know who the enemy is. You’re sitting there like: “Wait… am I rooting for them?” “Did they just kill someone?” “Is this the villain or is it me for loving them??”
It is so twisted. So smart. So hilarious and dark and emotional and terrifying all at once. I was laughing. I was stressed. I was screaming. My notes app looks like a crime scene.
And let’s be clear NOBODY IS SAFE in this series. You think they won’t kill off your favourite character? Babe, they will. They’ll do it with a smile. These authors play dirty and I respect it.
Also, can we scream about Vesper for a second??? This woman is everything. She’s giving Manon Blackbeak with a full emotional spectrum and I’m OBSESSED. She’s fierce, terrifying, vulnerable, powerful, complicated, and just… ugh. Iconic. Legendary. One of the best female characters I’ve ever read, hands down.
This is not a book where you can predict the ending by chapter three. This is not a book where you know who to trust. This is a book that throws you into a whirlwind of betrayal, strategy, slow-burn tension, and complete chaos. And somehow, you love every second of it.
You don’t need to read Zodiac Academy first, it might help a little with the lore, sure but this series stands on its own. And trust me, once you start, you will NOT stop.
📝 Overall Thoughts This is one of the best series I’ve ever read. Period. Full stop. Unpredictable, bold, deliciously twisted, and full of characters that live in my head rent-free. If you want something that shocks you, hurts you, makes you laugh, makes you scream, and keeps you on edge the entire time, this is it.
That cliffhanger was awful of course but I guess it could have been worse. I can't wait for book 3. I really enjoyed this. Echo fort follows Vesper and Everest after the events of Never keep. There are povs from their love interests and minor side characters but the main povs are from these characters. Vesper is devastated after her two best friends were murdered by the man she loved who was pretending to be someone else and didn't love her at all. She now seeks vengeance but she has no idea where she is. However she is given another task by Prince Dragor which is to find the dragon that recently escaped from captivity and recapture him. Vesper ends up finding him and it turns out that he is a dragon shifter. Meanwhile Everest is still at Never keep and is continuing her training to become part of her people's military there. Her longtime dream is to be a great warrior who is respected. However she is now bound to Kaiser despite the fact that he is her mother's killer which of course she absolutely despises him for. Everest is still planning to kill him but she has been unable to. Meanwhile Everest sees the Reapers doing suspicious things but her friend Harlon is a reaper and she knows he wouldn't take part in them. The romances Everest and Kaiser: I'm very invested in their romance, which is definitely a slow-burn because he is her mother's killer and her father killed his biological family. I didn't expect Kaiser to be a psycho with no feelings except for her. I kind of love that though. Vesper and Bastian: I didn't know Bastian was Vesper's love interest for a little while and I actually thought the prince would be a love interest but I now know he is not. I'm interested in seeing where this romance goes and these two definitely have a lot to overcome after that cliffhanger. My thoughts This was an entertaining and addictive read though I do wish I was more connected to the characters. I don't think I've had enough books with them yet to be so.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Damn, just damn. I fear this book has confirmed my obsession with this series. This was such an enjoyable read and a 10/10 follow up from Never Keep. The plot was PLOTTING and I found myself fully immersed in it from start to finish. The war politics stuff ect is genuinely so interesting and so well written.
I loveddd that we got some new chapter POVs - it was interesting to get inside the heads of other characters besides our two FMCs. This series has such a strong cast of characters and I genuinely find them all interesting (even the ones I hate with passion)
Vesper and Everest? Obsessed with them both. I’m excited to see their friendship develop as the series progresses. I meannn both their actions at the end made me want to repeatedly bang my head against a wall, but listen I’ll support my girls rights and their wrongs 💁🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Bastian and Kaiser? I’m sat 👀🫦 Genuinely can’t decide which man I prefer atp
Caroline and Suzanne, imma need book 3 asap bc that ending was criminal xx
If you love action-packed dark fantasy romance books with true enemies (to possibly lovers), powerful FMCs & unapologetic feminine rage, you NEED to read the Sins of the Zodiac series.
I’m somehow even more obsessed than I already was after finishing Never Keep, and I'm still equally obsessed with both FMCs. I knew Echo Fort was a 5-star read 30% in, but I made myself slow down because I didn’t want it to end (otherwise, I absolutely would've devoured it in under 48 hours).
The Twisted Sisters write top-tier angsty dark romantasy with chaotic humor that has me cackling at the most unhinged moments. I love how many POVs they include—it somehow makes this nearly 800-page book feel fast-paced. I wasn't bored for a single second.
AND THAT ENDING!?
No clue what I’m supposed to do with myself until Cinder Vale releases in February 2026. I guess this is my sign to dive into their backlist (I've already read Zodiac Academy).
A sincere thank you to The Nerd Fam, Caroline Peckham, and Susanne Valenti for gifting me a physical ARC ahead of its release date.
THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING!!! GIVE ME CINDER VALE RIGHT NOW I CAN’T WAIT!!!
Kaiser: yes daddy Everest: i love that girl Vesper: get your shit together because i want to punch you in the face rn. you were supposed to be my favorite character BUT YOU ARE MAKING IT REALLY FUCKING HARD FOR ME GIRL.
It wrecked me. Completely shattered me. I needed days to recover before I could even begin to form words. But here we are. I'm ready. I think...
This is Book 2 in what has quickly become one of my all time favorite romantasy series.
The sky is burning. People are hiding dangerous secrets. Vampires are unleashing absolute chaos. The endless war? It's tearing the realm apart. Something ancient and deadly has awakened. Nothing... and I mean NOTHING... is as it seems. And woven through it all are threads of revenge, redemption, and ruin.
Our heroines are walking a razor thin line between salvation and destruction. Not just of themselves, but of the entire world. Their choices carry the weight of fate itself.
This book doesn't let you breathe. From the first page it's a relentless, heart pounding ride that will leave you utterly undone.
This is the great slow burn of our time.
I'm talking... maybe a kiss here or there. Maybe. A lingering glance. A whispered promise. The barest flicker of something more. It's agony. It's delicious. And I wouldn't change a single, torturous moment.
"I was reborn, a newly created being lurching toward an uncharted future. But the only thing I was truly aware of wanting up there... was her."
SWOON.
Out of nowhere... BAM... a possible age gap romance? I honestly don't know but I feel like we're being teased and... I'm surprisingly here for it. First in line honestly.
There's nothing better than when the mysterious hottie gives the female main character a nickname... and we don't know what it means for majority of the book... and then when it's revealed in the most epic and devastating way possible, you're left in a puddle of your own snot and tears. 10/10. No notes. Just pain and perfection.
When your enemy helps heal your wounds??? And a who hurt you moment? Done. Finished. I was giddy and sobbing at the same time... If that makes sense. (It doesn't. But also, it does.)
I can't tell you how obsessed and attached I am to these strong female main characters. This quote had me howling I loved it so much. "I've yet to try and please a man. It's the lowest priority in my life, but I've had many attempt to please me. Most have failed in their efforts."
LOL. So good.
In book 2, we're not just plunging deeper into the chaos, we're meeting new characters who will make you scream, cry, and curse the stars. They worm their way into your heart whether you want them to or not.
I feel like there's this very slow found family bond building and it has me so excited to explore but also devastated because I think my heart is going to get a lot more broken before it's put back together again.
"I knew what it was to walk alone, and perhaps I was stronger because of that."
Some of the choices these characters make will have you pulling your hair out. But this is the kind of story where the pain means something. Where the journey is brutal and beautiful in equal measure.
This isn't just an epic fantasy.
It's a raw, emotional exploration of worthiness, what and who is worth living for, revenge, suffering, emptiness, truth, self, and vulnerability.
It's about choosing to open your eyes even when everything around you is burning. It's about choosing yourself. And it's about learning how to let people in, even when every instinct says to shut the world out.
I was a blubbering mess through half of it, and I still haven't fully recovered.
I came for the romance. I stayed for the heartbreak. And now I'm begging on my hands and knees for book 3.
I should have known, yet here I am sitting on another brutal Twisted sister cliffhanger! If you’re looking for a fast paced, dark romantasy, with true enemies to lovers this is for you!
The tension in this book has really amped up! The multiple POVs were all fantastic! There wasn’t a single characters POV that I didn’t love and want more of!
If you’re looking for feminine rage this is definitely the series for you! The reapers are keeping secrets and honestly the only people any of these characters can trust is themselves. We had some questions answered in this book, like finally what Silka La Vin means, and I was not prepared. For every question answered I ended up with 10 more however.
We get graduation from Never Keep, Vesper basically giving up and betraying probably the one person who would most likely end up burning the world down for her, all for revenge on Cayde. Which was absolutely hilarious seeing Cayde go through what the curse Vesper placed on him. Can’t wait to watch his downfall.
We get Everest getting betrayed by a con man, who she thought was a friend. The tension between her and Kaiser was top tier, I cannot wait to see where that leads. Our broody unfeeling Fury finally has some emotions…watching Everest go back to the person I probably hate the most in this book made me so mad however.
The ending of this book was wild, there was so many things happening at once, I cannot wait to see where Cinder Vale takes us!
Thank you so much to the Nerd Fam and the twisted sisters for the opportunity to read this pre-release in exchange for my honest review
Absolute perfection. The twisted sisters write the exact kinds of stories I like to read. So much heartbreak betrayal, banter, and morally grey characters I love with all my heart
RELEASE MEEEEEEEEE. Finally done with this fucking book omfg. This is not what I anticipated 💀 the first book was so action packed and fun and this was just bland. The only thing I liked about this book was Everest, Vesper, and Bastian. I love the fmcs in this series soooooo much they’re in my top 5 already. And guys I feel so bad for Bastian at the end like stop it. He has nothing and no one and has been locked up for 300 years just let my man GO 😭 but other than that I didn’t give a shit about shit else. The plot wasn’t plotting for me personally, but maybe book 3 will be better, if i choose to read it. And I’m pissed Vesper didn’t get her revenge in this book. I just know they’re gonna drag this shit out.
Couples: EverestKaiser was something I was highly anticipating, and I was severely let down. I obviously wasn’t expecting them to be full on bc that would be absurd, but I was expecting SOMETHING. A little tension and a little angst, but no. He actually can’t feel or understand emotions so that was so fucking boring. And I hated that he just controlled her the WHOLE FUCKING BOOK. I was like surely she will get a grip halfway through the book, but nope! I thought this book would make me care about him but it didn’t. I liked him more after book one. Now I couldn’t care less if he lived or died.
VesperBastian honestly just didn’t do it for me either. I think she falls for people pretty easily bc she wants to be loved but she also pushes it away, and then he has been locked up for ages so obviously he’s gonna fall for the only woman he’s come into contact with, especially when he’s spending a lot of time with her. I think their feelings for each other developed a little too fast for me or maybe I’m just not a fan of the way the authors went about it. Like when he saved her from the prison and they kissed I was just like… ok🧍🏾♀️. And I’m not a big fan of enemies to lovers back to enemies and then lovers again bc it gets repetitive, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.
i’m expected to just… go on?? live life after this???
holy shit this is how you do a sequel. this didn’t feel like “filler” or a “setup book” at ALL, and I will fight anyone that says otherwise.
character development 11/10. SO many new character POV’s, all crucial to developing the world, politics, and emotional impact. i absolutely love how the twisted sisters are able to sweep readers into a world and introduce us to elements piece by piece with exactly the timing they mean to. the morsels of details i can see coming together for huge things to come have me SO excited.
like any twisted sisters book, Echo Fort did a number on my heartstrings. what we learned about Kai HAS ME IN A CHOKEHOLD!! SOMEONE HUG THIS BOY! LET IT BE ME!! everest is stronger than me because oh baby you can bind me any day. cannot stress enough how feral im feeling towards bastian. his dynamic with vesper is giving ToryDarius and i quite literally do not know how to act. all i know is im acting UP. (im imagining bastian as lorcan but a dragon shifter and im actually gonna mcfucking lose it).
the only thing im confused about it why this book is called echo fort lmao. we spent most of our time NOT there. lol no complaints tho.
“Perhaps I’d never had a choice in this but she had. She’d made her decision and mine was the head her axe fell upon. My saviour, my sanctuary, my demise.”
⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ 🌶️
I have lots of thoughts on this. As far as fantasy goes pretty solid read in that regard. Lots of action and world building political intrigue, warring lands, high-stakes, adventure and mystery. You get a lot of different characters POV’s so you can definitely understand the story from all sides. Well written characters with lots of sass, comedy, trauma and grit!
As far as the romance goes, I’m not really sure how to feel…I really like the characters, I’m just missing a-little relationship building? I think because they hate each-other so much it makes it hard for their relationships to grow so we’re not getting the build and depth like I would like. Over 1400 pages between the two books and they all still hate eachother guts! Haha 🤣 however I am invested! Everything is building……..slowly! 😂 (still enemying hard) Maybe we will get to the lovers part soon… Fingers crossed for more romance in book 3 ❤️

✶⋆.˚ Characters ⭑.ᐟ BADDIES IN THE FREAKING HOUSE!!!!!! Not only did we get the stubborn fire ball Vesper!!! But we got the all seaking revenge glory killer Everest!!!!! Let me just say these two girls are literally amazing!!! The way I am freaking in love with their duo is so amazing. I love how Everest levels Vesper out, and how Vesper gives reality checks to Everest. I will say Vesper was on my last nerve, not only do I hate that the authors gave her the "I have no fears" with the Kaiser and her scenes, but when she's literally like "nobody can kill me I have ether and succubus gifts" or wtf that is!!!! like girl stop!!!! and nah they did Everest dirty by giving her bratty thoughts but that thank God was only in the beginning. Or else i'd be dnfing the series!!!!
ALSO WHY IS VESPER SO IDK BLAND!!!!! like she had so much potential but all of her personality traits is well succubus, ether, and oh no nobody cares for me!!!! Like bitchyouhavesomanyfreakingpeoplewholikeyou!!!!!!! not even mentioning the way she was with Bastien my baby dragons. Like how she's like "fae only use me" like girl you get use because that's all you think your good at!!!!!! ARGH SO FREAKING BLAND AND STUPID!!! can we also stop making fantasy fmc think being stubborn and head into fire think that's good? Anyways the scenes with her and Bastien was the only good thing but alone hell I might need to throw her out.
OMG KAISER AND EVEREST!!!!!!!! My favorite couple!!! honestly half way through this book I gave up on Vesper and Bastian but Kaiser and Everest!!!!!!! OMG I LOVE THEM!!!!! sadly though it doesn't give off real enemies to lovers like Tory and Darius did more like a mix of that with Lance and Darcy. But it was still so freaking good!!!!!!!! The scenes were so hot and not even needing to get spicy the tension was AHHHHH!!!!!!!! Can we also just give out a warm Shoutout to my boy Galomp!!!! I swear if he dies i'll be going into the book and reviving him!!!!!!!!
Ngl Harlon was being a brainwash reaper, i'm so sad because I loved him so damn much in the beginning of all of this. But nooooooo we can't have one good non-toxic bestie (besides you galomp my bestie). But anyways Harlon was unessasarily stupid. And then there were two, why the actual fack did we get Dragor's and Ransom's POV!!!!!!! Like ngl when I finally said Ransom's name out loud it made no Damn sense but wtvs right. Anyways I feel like hopefully there's something between the two with their scenes but I also think Dragor's like idk 40 y/o and Ransom is like 19 idk. But we'll see more of them hopefully. But hey maybe I just need an mlm romance in this story.
✶⋆.˚ Plot ⭑.ᐟ PLOT? WHAT PLOT? There were TOOOOO MANY!!!!!! We get Vesper's Plot, Bastian's Plot, Everest and Kaiser Plot, then we jump all the way to minor plots there were SOOOOO many!!!!!!! I really though love that we got to see more of the world building in here like Echo Fort, Cinder Vale, and the kingdoms. OMG THE WAY I ACTUALLY THOUGHT I WAS DUMB WHEN ONE OF THE POVS WAS VESPER I was like errrrr what??? and not to mention Cayde's real name forgot it but why!!!!! Anyways I liked we got to see everything and even the sneak peaks to the next book. The way I need the next book like I need to breath is insane. Also I love the ending!!!! I'm smelling some groveling, some tension, some fighting scenes between love interests, some killing enemies and defying stars!!!!!! AHHHHh you know it'll be good.
✶⋆.˚ Final Thoughts ⭑.ᐟ This book was everything to me. it had their up and downs, good and bad moments with characters. Also the way these two writers can make simple words be poetry is insane. I love everything and I love how the titles are places in this world so creative and I love how like each book cover is an element. So i'm smelling four books in a series??? nah I neeed more than that. But we will see. I will say the scenes with Septa was very interesting I feel bad for her and I really need the Everest, Vesper, and Septa trio to collided. They be the baddest bitches in this series. Also not Harlon and Kaiser fighting over Everest. Fave scene probs. Overall amazing book and I can't believe 5 stars in a row hopefully it continues into the third book.
✶⋆.˚ Quotes ⭑.ᐟ ✮ We are all monsters in each other's nightmares.
✮ I am not so hollow when I am with you.
✮ It Happens unexpectedly, I cannot predict who I will get hard for. For example, my cock became hard when you touch me during our last Fearsire meeting." "What the fuck?" "I can't read your current emotion, Name it." "Disgust." "I See...but North tells me I am attractive to many Fae." "You're my enemy. My Mother's killer. I wouldn't fuck you if you were the last Fae on earth and I was doomed to die unless I rode your cock for ten seconds." "I see." "Do You?"
✮ What has a heart but cannot gift it? Offers pleasure freely but can never receive it freely in return.
✮ Bathes in lust but never love? has a face Fae would die for but a soul they would burn for?
✮ Succubus. Wanted by all but wanted by none.
✮ Are you so enamoured with death that you can't even remember how to live anymore?
₊‧.°.⋆ Pre-Read: the way i'm actually crashing out that I got this book earlier than the publishing date and forgot to read it. also finally we get the softer character but still badass (aka Everest) being rooted for⋆.°.‧₊
Oh my stars… Genuinely—WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED TO ME.
This book grabbed me by the throat and did not let go. The cliffhanger??? Not just a cliffhanger. This is the kind of ending that makes you want to scream, cry, and maybe throw the book across the room just to pick it back up again and beg for more. And guess what? Book 3 doesn’t come out until February. So I’ll be over here suffering.
Everest is officially climbing the ranks of my favorite FMCs… she’s fierce, layered, messy, and powerful in all the ways that make you root for her even when you want to shake her. Vesper is still that untouchable baddie I’d follow into war, and the tension between her and Bastian?? CHEF’S. KISS. I need it on loop.
This world is dark, twisted, and utterly brilliant. If you like: ➤ morally gray chaos ➤ addictive slow-burns ➤ complicated alliances ➤ found family potential ➤ elemental magic and prophecies with teeth
…you need to be reading this series.

As much as I love my girlies… I wanted to punch both of them in the face after that ending.
KAISER. MY BABY MAN. SILKA LA VIN. KILLER OF MINE. Are you kidding me??? If I wasn’t already in love with this man before, I sure as hell am now. He’s free (mentally at least). He’s feral (always, my unhinged man). And we’re finally going to meet the real him in Book 3?? Unless, of course, the Stone Breakers ruin everything. Please, stars, protect him.
Ever’s guilt, her heartbreak, her denial of their connection?? You know it’s there. And now that she’s had her taste of revenge, I can’t wait until we finally get that reunion arc. The angst is so real I could scream.
Harlon. You naive little idiot of a man. I am BEGGING you to use your brain. He’s sweet, sure, but I’m losing my patience.
Vesper. HOW. DARE. YOU. TRAP. BASTIAN. You BETTER be planning something because I swear I thought we were escaping together but NO… she said “actually let me lock you up real quick.” Girl, I love you, but I’m mad.
Page 320: “I’m not so hollow when I’m with you” 😭
In conclusion: I am unwell. This book shredded me and I’ll be camped out waiting for Book 3 with bloodshot eyes and broken hope.
As with everything the twisted sisters write, I absolutely ate this up. While in the same world as ZA, this is completely different—different characters, different continent, maybe a different time period? The magic and order systems are the same ones we know and love, but other than that, it’s a vastly different series. In this installment, we moved away from Never Keep being the main setting and got to see so much more of the world, and this world is BRUTAL. There’s so many plots and secrets that I’m so excited to see uncovered. I loved the added POVs of Septa, Harlon, Ransom, and the MMCs. There’s so much happening, and I can’t wait to see how everything connects. I absolutely love both FMCs, and their scenes together have my whole heart. Everest was constantly underestimated, and people are finally starting to regret that. She’s the underdog with big dreams of glory, but she has every hurdle imaginable in the way of those dreams. Vesper is fueled by vengeance. She’s hardened from her circumstances, but deep down she’s good and those cracks are starting to show. I can’t wait to see her let her walls down more. My theories about Bastian were spot-on, and I can’t wait to see how their relationship develops (especially after that betrayal, ugh). Kaiser was really doing it for me in this book—I love how Everest’s void powers are the only thing that lets him feel emotions, and I am HURT by that ending. I can already tell this is going to be a god-tier series for me. Like, I’m obsessed. How am I supposed to wait until Feb 2026 for book 3???

Whewwwww, I am a wreck y’all 😭😭. Why does the pain hurt but feel so good??? I needed book three like yesterday! Anyways, dare I say the blue lizard dragon Calcifiend is my favorite, cute animal side kicks will always have my heart 🫶🏼😫
“You are my most ruinous fantasy,” he told me. “You’re like the sun drawing me to your orbit at all times, there is no light when you aren’t near, no joy outside of your company, no point to my existence at all. You found me in the dark and set me free so that I could dedicate myself to worshipping you for all of time, and I want to spend every second I have making you feel just a fraction of the bliss you offer me with your mere existence. Tell me you want me the same way, spectre, tell me”
The twisted sisters did it again! I think I even loved Echo Fort more than Never Keep. I loved all the additional POVs we received in this one and I grew to love Everest's character much more than I did in Never Keep. The ending was crazy and I absolutely cannot wait for the next one 😍
It’s taken me WEEKS to process this book before being able to write this review. 5 massive stars. I am obsessed with this series, clinically.
The twisted sisters have a way of leaving you on the most criminal cliffhanger & then hitting the ground SPRINTING with book 2. Echo Fort started out full speed ahead, right where Never Keep left off. This book is ACTION PACKED, fast paced, complex, and truly addicting. The magic system and potential for this world is truly unlimited. It brings together my favorite parts of the other Solaria series, wrapped into one EPIC package.
Everest continues to get more confident, badass, & strong. I know it makes me toxic, but I am obsessed with her dynamic with Kaiser lol their banter & true ENEMIES vibes are giving me life.
Vesper is one of my favorite (if not my #1) twister sisters FMCs. She is absolutely ruthless & her order is just iconic and makes for scenes that are unbelievably hot but also some that are hilarious (iykyk) 😂 her and Bastian are literally everything & I need more of them RIGHT NOW
The Twisted Sisters ALWAYS keep us guessing & I’m truly obsessed with them more with each book. 10/10. NO NOTES!!!
DNF at 6%. I just can’t get into this and I also just didn’t love the first book either. Zodiac Academy instantly sucked you in and this just didn’t do it for me.
