Welcome, guest, to The Storyteller's Cottage!

Inside these walls are the testimonies of hundreds of couples who have stayed here, each detailing their stories of finding true love. Do not take this lightly! Open your heart to the possibility of love, and let the legend do the rest!

~

Sheriff Becker Quinn liked his small town just the way it was. The last thing he needed was city-folk traipsing in and wreaking havoc. On Christmas Eve, as he responded to the call of a suspicious vehicle, the last thing he expected to find was a feisty woman sleeping in her car.

When Lenny Heckman purchased the small-town bakery in Avonbury, sight unseen, she hadn’t expected her introduction to the cozy little town to be spent behind bars. It didn’t help matters that the grumpy, sexy Sheriff had the appearance of a smoldering, untamed mountain man.

As Lenny settles into the legendary Storyteller’s Cottage, finding herself irresistibly drawn into its enchanting myth of guests discovering love within its walls, and despite butting heads, she’s also drawn to Sheriff Quinn.

When Lenny falls deliriously sick, it's Becker who comes to her rescue. The gentleness he exudes is something Lenny's not familiar with, and quickly doesn't want to let go of.

Perhaps starting over in Avonbury was the right choice after all...

It's officially the holiday season and there's no better way to spend the chilly days than reading a cozy Christmas story. Nalani Titcomb delivered with Mistaken Identity at the Storyteller's Cottage!

Lenny relocates from Oregon to Massachusetts after her parents' deaths and finding her third partner cheating on her. She finds her way to Avonbury, Massachusetts on Christmas Eve after a road trip to move across the country, but due to a snowstorm and little experience with such weather conditions, Lenny falls asleep in her car when she loses her way at the end of the night. Sheriff Becker Quinn wakes her on Christmas morning, and she ends up in jail after a case of mistaken identity. Becker clears her after a call to her ex-fiance, and she heads into her future at the Storyteller's Cottage, where she is renting, and her newly bought bakery, which she has yet to see or start. The Cottage comes with a legend that if you're searching for love, your wish will be granted at the cottage. In a new town with no history of her own, and a John Krasinski look-a-like for a sheriff, Lenny's story is just beginning on Christmas Eve.

This is a quick, cozy romance Christmas novella with surprisingly well-developed characters and plot for such a short book. I thoroughly enjoyed this read!

Umm, this book was really good and it had me sucked in during the first chapters but unfortunately I started to have mixed feelings about when I got to chapter 7 when he literally removed her clothes (as well as his)and got into the tub with her inorder help reduce her temperature and she was hardly alert.

I know it a fast paced romance and he was trying to help her but still come on.NO just NO. I don't think anybody should do that kind of stuff especially when you hardly know the person. But then again it's a fast paced romance .I personally just didn't like that whole stuff and won't what it to be done to me.

The book was absolutely amazing and if you are in for a quick interesting read you should surely go for it.

Thank you author Nalani Titcomb and Happyilybookedpr for giving me this arc.

A fun winter quick read with swoony moments and hilarious hijinks. I enjoyed seeing a softer side of Becker when he was taking care of Lenny. I did feel it was a bit rushed when Lenny jumped into bed with Becker right after she was found cooling off in the snow because she had a high fever. This just felt sudden and I even went back to see if I missed a chapter. I would’ve liked to see more relationship building or at least a time jump in the next chapter. Overall, this is a quick winter read with funny moments and a magic cottage.

While this novella might be part of a series, it works perfectly as a standalone—you won’t miss any context to enjoy the fast-paced, steamy story. The meet-cute is hilariously unique, unlike any I’ve read before, setting the tone for a fun mix of romance and humor. Watching the grumpy sheriff wrestle with his internal “angel and devil” was both endearing and entertaining.

The transition from annoyance to lust to love happens quickly, but the banter and genuine care between the characters make it feel natural. The characters quirks and sitcom-style rom-com moments bring plenty of laughs, while the open-door spice keeps things sizzling.

This story is the perfect blend of humor, heart, and heat—a perfect read for winter vibes and lighthearted romance!

A quick heads-up: If you haven’t seen A Quiet Place (Parts 1 & 2) and plan to, watch them before reading this novella, as there are spoilers.

What a quick easy to read festive story this is to read, I lovely afternoon read. Lenny was taking her life in hand, no more putting her dreams on hold for a man. Three ex's and now she was making a stand, she was worth more than being cheated on. Except what she hadn't taken into account was the weather, and no longer being in the city. The snow came from nowhere and now its a blanket of white. Why did she drive. Now stuck and no way of asking for directions it meant a cold night in her car. Becker couldn't believe she slept in a car in this temperature was she stupid. But then she wouldn't answer his questions. Out of state plates her fiance has a record, defiantly needs further questioning. As sheriff he took his towns safety and security seriously. This was not what she expected on christmas eve spending the night in a cell. This is a perfect start to a story you won't want to put down. Can Lenny ever make a new start. Will Decker remember his professional procedures. Sit back and see if the Storyteller's Cottage can work it's magic again. I can't recommend enough

Want a cute Christmas novella with funny banter? Then this book might just be for you this holiday year. I think that Lenny and Becker had a very good meet cute especially when is is something that would totally happen in real life. I really liked the ‘magical’ cabin and how it brought people together. I really liked the banter in the book, I understand that its a novella but I would have like more back story and a little more build up, but that just my opinion.

🎄Starting over

Lenny (FMC) purchased a bakery in a small town, and wanted to fresh start after finding out that her boyfriend had cheated on her.
On her way to the accommodation, Lenny gets lost, and pulls over to the side of the road to rest overnight. Waking up to the grumpy and good looking Sheriff Becker Quinn knocking on her window, and accusing her of being a potential burglar, Lenny is shocked and confused, and the Sheriff puts her behind bars until he can figure out who she is.

After Lenny's mistaken identity is cleared up, the Sheriff drives Lenny up to her accommodation, which is at legendary The Storyteller's Cottage. Becker tells Lenny about the legends and stories that surround the cottage. Lenny settles in and finds a journal of past visitors, and is drawn to the mystery and charm of the cottage. Even though Lenny butts heads with the Sheriff, she also finds him extremely handsome and attractive. Little does she know that Sheriff Quinn is drawn to her too.
When Lenny falls quite ill, Sheriff Quinn finds her delirious and out in the snow. Survival instincts kick in, and Sheriff Quinn will do what it takes to take care of Lenny.

This book was sweet, swoony, cozy and utterly adorable.
Absolutely loved it!

Spice: 🌶️.5

This was a sweet, quick, holiday novella about a young woman, Lenny, who has decided to make a fresh start in a new state, far from her old life. She travels across the country (Oregon to Massachusetts) where she’s found the perfect location to open a bakery. She rolls into town in the middle of a snow storm, which has caused her to lose her way to the cabin she’s renting. She decides to pull over and park, sleeping in her car, until the sun comes up and she can see better, while hoping the snow has stopped. Unfortunately, the town sheriff wakes her up and takes her down to the station after receiving reports of a “suspicious vehicle” are made. Once at the station they realize it’s a case of mistaken identity, and so the sheriff gets her to her rented cabin and helps her settle in. He goes back to check on her a few days later and finds her rolling around in the snow and delirious. Upon further investigation he realizes she’s got an awful fever, and she was trying to cool off in the snow. He gets her inside and takes care of her, which is when the spark begins! Again, this was a sweet read, happiness from start to finish, a mild enemies-to-lovers in this small town romance. Minimal spice, but all leading towards a HEA. I highly recommend if you’re in the mood for a quick holiday romance.

“Good afternoon. Are you an Angel or a Devil today?”

After a two-week cross-country road trip fueled by heartbreak and lack of sleep, 31-year-old Eleanor “Lenny” Heckmen is done with Portland—and done with cheating boyfriends (three in a row, no less). With nothing but big bakery dreams and a playlist of regret, she rolls into a tiny New England town hoping for a fresh start. There, she meets Sheriff Quinn Becker—a grumpy sheriff with unresolved Jenny trauma (yes, because her name rhymes with his ex’s). Things spiral from “oops, I parked illegally” to getting arrested, to sharing space in a cozy, possibly enchanted cottage. Toss in forced proximity, small-town chaos, and a snowstorm’s worth of tension, and you’ve got a fast, flirty ride—like a Hallmark movie with a dash of spice!

This festive little novella is the perfect blend of cozy chaos and small-town charm. From hilarious meet-cute antics to snowstorms and sickbed caretaking, it’s got all the holiday rom-com energy you could want. The pacing felt a tad fast—one minute she’s feverish in the snow, the next she’s in bed with the sheriff—but Becker’s unexpected soft side and the cottage’s magical vibes make it easy to forgive. It’s sweet, spicy, and totally worth curling up with for a snow day escape—I loved it!

A big thanks to Happily Booked PR and Nalani Titcomb for sending me a digital ARC of this book!

This was a very fun & fast read! Light hearted and sexy, definitely a change of pace from my TBR currently. Loved it!

Just enough spice without it being over the top.

Lenny Heckman is starting over. She needs to get away from the string of bad relationships plaguing her. So she decides to move across the country. Her desire to establish a new life in an unknown town gets a rough start when she’s sleeping in her car during a snow storm and gets accused of being a suspicious person. Sheriff Becker Quinn does take kindly to strange troublemakers in his town. So he locks Lenny up until he can verify her story. Offering to drive her to the cottage she’s renting, Becker starts realizing that there’s more here than just his duty to protect and serve. There’s an attraction. The Storyteller’s Cottage is a local site of lore that those who stay there, find love. When Lenny falls seriously ill, it’s Becker who nurses her back to health, at the cottage. Something is drawing them together. Is it the legend of the Storyteller’s Cottage? According to the guestbook journal entries, many who have come before believe it is.

This one had me laughing out loud many times.

Lenny is looking to start over by driving across the country and buying a bakery in a small town, sight unseen. When she gets caught in a blizzard on Christmas, she starts to rethink her plan, especially when she is detained by a hot police officer, Sheriff Becker, for sleeping in her car. Once her name is cleared and she starts to settle in she learns that the cottage she is staying at is known for helping it's residents find love. Will Lenny be blessed by the Storyteller's Cottage too?

This was such a cute holiday story. It's hard to get people attached to characters and build excellent chemistry in a novella, but this one definitely succeeds. I loved the story, the tension, and the buildup. Becker's angel and demon situation got a little strange the longer it went on, but it still made me laugh in an awkward way. It's a really cute, feel-good story, mostly closed door spice, great for some cozy holiday reading.

Cute, easy cozy little holiday read. The concept of the Storytellers Cottage is adorable! Imagine staying at a place that is rumored to lead its occupants to their “true love”. And the journal that the renters leave …so cute!!

Lenny gets “trapped” on the side of the road during a snowstorm as she makes her way across country. Waking up to the sound of someone tapping on her car window, brings Lenny face to face with the very attractive Sheriff Becker. Misunderstandings ensue, which lead to handcuffs (not in the good way lol) and the town jail lol. Not the best first impression, but def a unique meet cute.

I would have liked to know a bit more about Lenny’s past, and her past relationship that was mentioned. And I get it, this is a short story, so the pace is quick, but it did feel a little rushed to me. I wanted a bit more time to connect with the characters.

Love the concept of this series and hope we hear more about Lenny and Becker in the next book.

This adorable cozy rom comfy Christmas novella was just what I needed this holiday season.

Great interactions and banter between Lenny our FMC , who is starting over life after some heart break in a new place with a fresh start, and Becker our grumpy sheriff MMC, who has excellent swoon worthy moments in this book like when Lenny gets sick and he takes care of her I am an absolute sucker for that micro trope think it comes from all the anime I watched as a teen!

Their hilarious fateful beginning soon turns sizzle steamy with those swoon worthy moments sprinkled in that lead me to say I would spend more than just one night in Becker’s jail

If you like short darling novellas with a theme to fit the season, forced proximity, one bed trope, small town vibes with banter that turns gooey then this is for you! It’s a standalone and is part of a collection in this series.

I give this a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and a 🌶️ on the spice scale!

This is a short insta love cozy read. Quinn was so sweet and protective with her. The banter between them at start was so fun. He went above and beyond for her to keep her safe. This is a really cute novella about a cottage with stories of people finding love within the walls. People have written in journals detailing their stories of finding love when they least expected.

Lenny is moving across the country and gets caught in a blizzard when she meets Becker. Her morning quickly lands her in jail starting a journey she wasn't looking for. Lenny finds the journal when she finally makes it to the cottage discovering the small cottage's secrets.

Lenny starts to document her journey as her relationship unfolds with Becker and her fresh start. Becker and Lenny's start is a bit different when she gets very sick, but it ends up being really sweet with the banter back and forth.

I felt like this story just kind of ends even though Lenny makes her final entry. I know this was a novella, but it felt like it was just over. It was fast paced and the story was great. The characters were wonderful, but it felt like an extra chapter would have been nice.

First and foremost, where does one find a cabin like this? (asking for a friend)
I loved this story from the beginning. Lenny just had an energy about her that you never expected what came out of her mouth. She is getting out of a relationship in which her fiance cheated on her and what did she do? She started driving with no destination in mind somewhere in Kansas she comes upon an ad in for a bakery that is for sale in Avonbury, Massachusetts and just decides to wing it and buy it. Becker is the sheriff of this small town.
From her “arrest” to everything that followed I laughed, cried and worried with our girl. The dynamic between her and Becker from the initial window knock at her car door to the end was felt in every word. Mistaken Identity of the Storytellers Cottage is a novella that has our girl Lenny starting a new chapter in her life and I am all for it.

This has been such an amazing, cute and entertaining novella read. It was packed with the right amounts of fun, romance, spice and Magic. The instant attraction between Becker and Lenny was quite cute to read, and you'll fall in love with them right from chapter 1.

I love how brave and independent Lenny was, to even start a new chapter of her life on her own. But she is stubborn as well which is actually funny and cute.

Becker is such a kind yet amazing sheriff. And it was cute to see how even when he tried to be away from Lenny, he was utterly defeated by his own heart. It was quite cute to see him talking to his angel and demon, which was completely funny no matter how many times I read them.

The cottage sure is absolute magic, the journey and entries just increased the charm of the place. Overall, it's such a beautiful perfect novella for the Christmas season 🎄 Highly Recommended.

After going through a breakup, Lenny travels across the United States with no destination in mind. However, half way across the country, an advertisement catches her eye. She sets her sites on this small town that promises owning her own bakery. The only thing getting in the way? The dang "Hot Dad", Sherriff Becker.

I will be the first to tell you that I am not usually a novella reader because I often feel like the story is rushed and missing key components. That is so NOT the case for Mistaken Identity at the Storyteller's Cottage. The amount of banter was *chefs kiss* for the time it took the relationship to bloom.

Definitely recommend this short story if you're looking for a snowy/Christmassy setting, small town, or even one bed type tropes. My only wish? That this would be longer! I could have easily been just as in love with Lenny and Becker in a full-length novel!

After driving across the country, Lenny parks on the side of the road to catch a quick nap… or what should have been a nice nap. Instead, she is awoken by a gorgeous police officer, I mean Sheriff, at her window who promptly detains her! The story unfolds here, and many laughs and sweet moments are had. This book was such an unexpectedly sweet and wonderful read.
Becker is so protective and caring - he certainly goes above and beyond his sheriff duties!
The banter of this book is one of the best parts. You can learn so much about the characters through their humor and common interactions. Add in the spicey times, and it was a no-brainer for a recommended read.

It is set during the holidays but the focus is on the “magical” legendary cabin. When Lenny gets sick and Beck comes to help, that is when their defenses fall and the real “magic” begins. It’s a perfectly written holiday romance that screams Hallmark movie in the making. Do yourself a favor and check it out!
