I’m really enjoying the Meet Me in the Bible series, by Colleen D. Searcy. The Story of Jacob is an 8-Week Bible Study and is fourth book in the series and second book I’ve read (so far), though don’t think there’s an order they should be studied.
Jacob is an interesting key figure in the Bible, and I enjoyed getting to know him better—the good, bad, and sometimes ugly. I really like the attention to context in this study. The context questions aid in understanding themes and full meanings.
This series is suitable for both group and individual study. I prefer a more personal study, allowing me to spend as much time as I want on each section. The lessons are easy to follow, and the straightforward format and lay-flat spiral design are both appealing and purposeful. Each study book serves as guide, with prompts encouraging readers to dig deeper into God’s Word. They also serve as journaling tools to record discoveries along the way. I hope there’s a long list of books in the Meet Me in the Bible series!
