A year after his father’s funeral, Luke still feels unsettled. Long-buried emotions resurface and cause fractures in the relationships closest to him. As his life falls apart around him, he’s forced to confront the tough questions he’s spent years avoiding.
When the chance to work with Jody arises, Luke can’t ignore it—even knowing it will bring unresolved tensions to the surface. A long-overdue reckoning with himself, his God, and his sexuality soon follows. What he doesn’t anticipate is the quiet threat of someone intent on driving a wedge between him and Jody.
This is the sequel to Fledged. It is not a stand-alone book.
A very enjoyable second part of a duet. Where the first book focussed more on Jody, this was in Luke's POV. The abrupt ending of Jody's complicated relationships with their families, their church and especially with Luke at the end of the first book clearly needed a lot of time and effort to start repairing and I'm glad that this was written over two books to give that time. I didn't feel as much of the emotions as in the first book, which, for me, was a little disappointing. On the whole, a really good duet with great character depth.
Really enjoyed getting the different point of view in this one and I think the author did a wonderful job of showing how all the complicated emotions after someone dies affect all aspects of your life in ways both positive and negative. Luke and Jody had lots of things to work through and deal with that many people much older wouldn't have handled well and their responses were real and emotional for me. I also like a story where the characters have an outsider conspiring against them and we get to see them deal with that.
I loved this book but it is essential you have read book two or you will be lost. I like the complementary nature of the two books in that book two gives us Luke's perspective and book one gave us Jody's perspective. I will say, like book one, this one gave me much to think about and reflect on. At its core for me it is a book about accepting who you are and loving yourself so you can be happy and find love with someone else. I did receive an ARC and leave this honest review.
I had really been looking forward to this after the well written, intense first book. You must read that first as it is Jody's pov whereas this book is Luke's. I didnt quite connect as much with Luke as i lovedJody! However that being said it was a great follow on to this coming of age storyline with great characters. I received a free arc copy and this is my honest review
This story is connected to the first in the series - Fledged. This one is told from Luke's point of view. This was a nice companion to the first one and it gave a nice message as well as a good wrap up given where the last one ended. I would strongly recommend you read them in order as this is an enjoyable read as a duet. I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book two of the Fledged duet and I liked that this part of the story is more from Luke’s pov and it is another good read it doesn’t have the emotional depth of the first part but was still an enjoyable read.
Second part of the Fledged duet and I have mixed thoughts. Overall I really enjoyed it. I especially enjoyed getting more of Luke’s POV. As others have said, it didn’t have the same emotional depth as the first, however it was still an emotional read and a strong story and definitely worth a read.
He is putting his father to rest and he knew he needed to tell them he loved them. His life is about to fall apart as he has someone who wants to stop him getting together with someone else. A wonderful read
Really enjoyed this duology from a new to me author! It pulls at your heartstrings and is very immersive! Book two was just as good as book one and definitely not a standalone. Looking forward to reading more for this author in the future!
