As I have known from my second time reading a Mikayla Christy book in the Bobcats Hockey series, this author is a hit or a miss. I loved the first book in that series but not much the second.
And then I attempt at reading one standalone of hers which I completely loved but this second standalone-ish is meh at best.
We are first introduced to Paige and Garret in the Bobcats Hockey series. And in that book it is quite obvious that these two are smitten with each other. In their own book, it pretty much starts as such. So there is not much buildup or intrigue or interesting plot. Just the unraveling of what we already knew was going to be their love relationship.
It was cute but it didn't make me feel things or yearn for things. So a 2.5 🌟 will have to suffice.
And then I attempt at reading one standalone of hers which I completely loved but this second standalone-ish is meh at best.

I love this story line. Back when I read Cross Check My Heart I could not wait for these two to have their moment. And Mikayla delivered.
I found Mikayla on IG and feel in love with her first book and I really missed this story and Lilly and Dom! I was so excited to read the continuation of this budding romance. It had drama and romance and spice and slow burn. So good!

This was the perfect short story, feel-good read. I absolutely adored Garrett and Paige together. I’m a sucker for friends to lovers and this checked all the boxes. Mikayla does such an amazing job creating relationships between characters and making you feel what they feel. Although this was a short book, there was nothing that fell short about this story.
Garrett is Paige’s boss and they have been working closely together for years. Although, Paige loves working for Garrett, she feels something is missing.. until he offers her the promotion of a lifetime. Now they’re spending even more time together on this new venture. Can they keep that professional line in tact? Or will they finally give in to their attraction?

Overall, this was a short and sweet read. Garrett is a secret billionaire who has been pining for Paige for years. And she's been crushing on him, too. When she finally takes a new role and is no longer working under him, he shoots his shot.
They have many swoony moments, but I feel like there was some depth missing to the characters and the plot. I think the length of the book is a disservice to the story, not giving us enough time to really build the emotions and clarity we need to understand each character's feelings and actions. The end drama was far too rushed and felt like it was written just to be dramatic, but there was no build-up to it, so it felt very out of place.
I wanted to love this one, but ultimately it fell flat for me.

If you’re into workplace, boss/employee, friends to lovers romances, this is the one for you! This was a genuinely cute and fun read. With a tiny touch of suspense sprinkled in too, I devoured this book!
Garrett has been Paige’s boss for the last two years, and has only had eyes for her since. Unbeknownst to her, she too has been pining over her incredibly attractive, kind, nurturing boss. He offers her the promotion of a lifetime, making her his equal in their business world, and now nothing is in the way of giving into their rapidly growing feelings for one another. The job, the office, the boyfriend.. the life she’s always wanted. Can Paige truly have it all, or will she doubt her abilities?

I’m always keen for a workplace romance but Garrett is hands down what made this one so amazing. Mikayla always writes amazing MMCs but Garrett might be top tier for me. He 100% of the time sees Paige as his equal even when they do have a power imbalance. But this man 🙌 He goes above and beyond to put her first and to support here while also respecting her requests and boundaries. Oh, and he just happens to have an entire list of all of her snacks so he can make sure she always has something he knows she will like 😍 100% Garrett and his dedication and respect made this book worth reading. Would totally recommend if you also love a green flag man through and through!!

The way I instantly fell for Garrett's and Paige's story, I may need assistance getting back up! The way their relationship teeters between friendly and co-workers, you can feel their connection burning through each other.
Garrett, my human teddy bear . I just want to cuddle up with him and eat candy hearts.

I have a crush on my boss but he doesn’t know and I act professional around him. I’m her boss and I have a crush on her but she doesn’t know. Then one weekend changes it all. We explore something and grow together. The feelings explode. This is a very cute book. I will reread it for Valentine’s Day as it gave me those vibes for some reason. Maybe just the love in the air!

1.5⭐️ | This was just so rushed, everything about the plot really felt surface level.
The fact that he was billionaire, kept it a secret and then it became public, his parents being like some sort of crime lords partnering with an ex-worker and everybody else's parents being dead felt a little too dramatic because it had no background to look at.

This was such a good book. I love reading about Paige and Garrett. I love Paige. Paige and Garrett work together. Paige is not happy and tells Garrett. Garrett tells Paige that he wants her to be the COO. They both have been secretly wanting each other but never act on it until they are spending time with each other. This book is secret billionaire,workplace romance, and just one bed.

It sucks you in and you can’t stop reading until you are done. This book kept me up late reading because I wanted more of Garrett and Paige. I love Mikayla Christy’s books, I love her writing, her characters and the way she describes the scenes helps me envision exactly what is going on in the book.
Who are Garrett and Paige? Garrett is a sweet, sexy, billionaire who has been pining after Paige since he hired her 2 years ago but kept it professional. Paige is a hardworker, sweet, caring and will do anything for the people close to her. Garrett and Paige both have horrible upbringings and they keep themselves a little locked up with their trust. Paige confides in Garrett that she wants more, she feels like she needs to be doing more with her work. Garrett has a promotion for her, to be partners, work together to run the company and the expansion company they are buying.
Paige and Garrett have been crushing and pining after each other for 2 years but since Garrett is her boss, they pushed feelings down, and kept things professional. BUT now the tides have turned and it’s not a boss-employee situation anymore, will Paige finally let go and allow Garrett to sweep her off her feet? YES!! The chemistry between them comes off them in waves, you can feel it from the first page and you are just waiting for the “F IT” moment the whole time. We all love those “F IT” moments. They opened up to each other, they leaned on each other when needed. They helped each other truly live happily, not just going through the motions. The slow burn was epic, I love how she slowly had them blur the lines before going full force.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The side characters add so much to the main characters. I loved getting little glimpses of Dominik and Lilly from Cross Check my Heart. Don’t forget the drama and the little suspense she added in towards the end just to keep you on your toes. It’s a short, sweet, semi quick read but it won’t feel that way. The small book packs a big punch with Garrett and Paige. And if you are looking for a swoon-worth billionaire, then look no further then Garrett Walker.

I absolutely adore Mikayla! She KNOWS how to write some incredible stories! This secret billionaire/workplace romance is no different than of her others! It's a shorter story, but she definitely packs a lot in it- as well as some familiar faces from previous books, which I LOVED!
Garrett and Paige have been friends for a couple years through work- he is her boss at Sweethearts Publishing. He is a great boss, but an even better friend to her. One day she comes to him and says that she feels like she's gotten everything she can out of her current position and craves something more. She does not know that he's been secretly working on a position made just for her that will solve her problem of wanting more out of a job, but also so that he isn't her BOSS anymore, but her EQUAL. That leaves a door open for something more on the personal level... turns out they both have been secretly harboring feelings for the other for a while now!
Things come to a head on a work trip while prepping for her new role.. but then, so does a HUGE secret! Mikayla packs some action and suspense into this short, steamy story and I was here for it! Garrett is the PERFECT guy in every area and Paige is a strong woman who has come through some hard times while growing up. I understand that this part of the story was not easy for her to write, so I applaud her for doing an incredible job with it! I can't say a single bad thing about this book. It was beautiful, sweet and perfect in my eyes.
Garrett and Paige are coworkers who secretly have been crushing on one another the entire time but could never cross the line because Garrett is the boss. But the moment Paige signs the contract to become a partner all bets are off. Garrett actively pursues her and its honestly the sweetest thing I've read. Garrett is top notch boyfriend goals. He is constantly thinking of Paige's well-being even when she doesn't even notice, he protects her when necessary because he knows she wants to fight her own battles, and he allows her to bloom into the person he knows she can be. But the best part that got me was his list of her snacks that she likes and doesn't like just so he can always have her favorites on hand and learn about her to!! But Paige my girl is strong, determined and impressionable. She has her goal in mind and doesn't let anyone stop her. I love how much she kept fighting her feeling for Garrett just because she thought her coworkers would care and the moment, she found out they had a bet going on all concerns were gone. Paige and Garrett are honestly the sweetest and one of the best couples I've read.

The dynamic between Paige and Garrett is one built on mutual respect and admiration, but turns into something so much more when they finally admit their feelings for one another.
Garrett is steadfast, kind, thoughtful, and truly just a one of a kind boss and friend. His only flaw? He’s down bad for Paige and is afraid to tell her. (He’s also hiding his billionaire status, but that’s not a flaw and he deserves his privacy.)
Paige is a badass, hardworking, dedicated, immeasurably strong, fireball loving woman. She stands up for what she believes in and on days when the doubt creeps in, she knows exactly what she needs to power through.
This book was heartfelt, funny, suspenseful and pulled on my heartstrings pretty dang hard. I also LOVED the cameos from all of the Mikayla characters we know and love from her previous books!

This book was heartfelt, funny, suspenseful and pulled on my heartstrings pretty dang hard. I also LOVED the cameos from all of the Mikayla characters we know and love from her previous books!

Really loved this book and being only 200ish pages it made for a quick and easy read! I really love Mikayla’s writing and she managed to pack this full of swoon, emotional depth and a sprinkle of suspense + mystery to keep me fully captivated.
Garrett + Paige work together while also being close friends and while they both have feelings for one another, they’ve stayed firmly in the friend zone. But with her promotion, they’re no longer boss x employee so Garrett decides it’s time to finally get his girl.
I adored these two together. I melted at just how down bad Garrett was for Paige, so much swoon points for this man. He’s so steadfast in his feelings for her, giving her the patience and space she needed to catch up while being right there with the sweetest gestures and reminders that he was still there, ready when she was. I loved the natural progression from friends and coworkers to something more, they were just so good together.
There was also some cameos and crossovers from Mikayla’s previous books which I really enjoyed!

I don’t know how Mikayla does it, but her men just get better and better!!
I usually really enjoy a grumpy hero but something about how cinnamon roll her hero’s are just works. I’m not sure how you choose a favorite between Dominik, Jackson and now Garrett. But holy heck Garrett was perfection!
I’m usually not huge into the whole friends x lovers vibe but this worked so well. They both had such mutual respect for each other that Garrett didn’t make his feelings known until he could actually pursue her and it not damage them working together.
Garrett is full of surprises with him always having a hidden stash of her favorite candy and having a WHOLE FREAKING NOTE in his phone of her favorite snacks😩 LIKE ARE YOU JOKING?! Ugh my heart.
I also really loved that Garrett was so straight forward with Paige and let her know like until you tell me no, I’m in this.
I also really loved seeing past book characters come back!
If you’re looking for a book that just warms your heart, this is it! 💗

Loved the writing, it was so easy to read and the story was really intriguing. Man, the way Garrett had it bad for Paige from the start! I don't know how she didn't see it, considering he constantly brought her food and even had her texting him when she got home so he wouldn't worry??!?!! That's not how a boss normally treats you. Not to mention their chemistry!!! Their pasts made me really sad. I'm so glad they had each other and their friends. They both had such good hearts. I really liked the little action we get towards the end. It spiced things up.
Now I'm really curious about Dominic and Lilly.

Workplace Romance win!
I love an office romance. Take that office romance and combine it with Only One Bed? Sign me up!! I genuinely liked this book. it was sweet and simple in the best way possible. I do feel like it moved quickly, character wise and time wise. However that did not take away from the beauty of this book.
Garrett has had heart eyes for Paige from the very beginning, but has not crossed that professional boundary of boss/employee.
And Paige has a massive crush on Garrett, but he is her boss.
However when Paige mentions not being satisfied in her work anymore, it is time for the project that Garrett has been working on to move forward. What is the project, you may ask? Well it is time for Paige to become COO of a partnering company. This job is the obvious next step for Paige, she has worked so hard to get where she is, past her trauma as a child, and grown into the beautiful adult she is now. Also the facts that she now gets the office next to Garrett, and there isn't anyone standing in the way of them becoming more than co-workers are pretty stellar bonuses!
Did I mention the first time we meet Garrett, he is bringing Paige coffee? The boss, bringing his crush a coffee... Swoon!

This book is what I like to refer to as a palate cleanser. It’s super cute, light and a quick read. The characters are relatable, the he falls first trope is adorable. It hits a bunch of crowd favorites: workplace romance, he falls first, (secret) billionaire, forced proximity/one bed, slow burn then blazing for the second half of the book.
I would consider the style something like an Emily Henry book but add a bit more spice. It does have references to other book(s) written by MC but can absolutely be read as a standalone.

This was a really cute book! Paige and Garrett work together at a Publishing company. They’ve always liked each other but, never crossed that line. When Paige gets a promotion, making her status equal with Garrett, there’s nothing standing in their way now!
This book was super fast paced but, it’s also about 200 pages long. For being a super quick read, it was the perfect amount of detail to plot to spice ratio. I liked the characters and the story was believable. I loved seeing some of Mikayla’s past characters as well as seeing the potential of next books that hopefully will interconnect with it!

Heart Like Your’s is a workplace, billionaire romance. Do not think you know where this is going, it is not. Garrett is Paige’s boss, mentor, and friend to her. He also has had a crush on her. Garrett is a well written character, he sees and respects Paige, enough to include her in future plans.
Paige is strong , dedicated, and knows when she needs more of a challenge. She holds her ground. She needs her friends, comfort food, and pro/con lists.
The story is an easy read, funny, suspenseful, and had me smiling most of the time. Almost a one day read, and it’s recommended.

It gets straight to the point: two characters are friends, attracted to each other, and they’re going to do something about it even if they maybe shouldn’t. It features some difficult topics but at a very high level so you don’t have to delve far into the nitty gritty, and it’s just a sunshiney, joyful read in general! Any and all conflicts are dealt with very quickly.
I raced through this book. Had I not started it late at night, I’d have probably finished it in one seating. It was fun, made me smile, and hooked me in. Definitely a nice palette cleanser after reading a few too many thrillers recently!

This a brand new author to me and I really enjoyed this story! It was an easy to follow, feel good read with some surprising suspense towards the end. I was not expecting that haha
Garrett and Paige were sweet together and it was interesting to see them navigate the whole workplace romance thing with relative ease. There was a nice mix of spice and plot in this one.
