3.5 stars a missed opportunity (contains spoilers)

I really enjoyed the book as I appreciated how the love story was built as a true partnership with a true balance of work, hopes and dreams.
I also like the idea of forgiveness and moving forward as a family like Tray and his parents.
However the ending was a real let down for me. The 2 year jump was frustrating as I felt that some real challenges worth exploring were just then with Tray becoming really famous and navigating the fame. Aleen wanting to be a respected lawyer and not just known as Mrs Rockstar. The wedding with the 2 sets of parents meeting knowing the huge social class differences etc. Did her mother come around?
A real shame.
As an aside I really dislike books making one of the protagonist a minority but then nothing in the book sustains that. For instance I don’t know any black woman with natural hair who goes to bed without wrapping it or without a satin pillowcase.

This was a cute little story about an unlikely romance between an aspiring rockstar and a hotshot lawyer. I liked how the characters complemented each other with their two distinct personalities and backgrounds and I enjoyed the opposites attract trope. There were some parts I thought could have been smoother, some parts I wished were fleshed out more, and some parts that could have been trimmed, but overall I liked it. I’d definitely read more from this author :)

This was a sweet love story between Lawyer Aleen and Musician Tray. Despite their differences their love story finds harmony. This was a steadfast relationship built on support of one another. Sometimes it seems almost too good to be true and too easy to navigate difficult challenges but overall it was a fast and engaging story to read

Won this book in a giveaway. Really tried to read this, but I can't get over the need for editing in this book. Then, I got to a scene with a coworker sexually harassing the FMC out in the open at work and completely got the ick. I couldn't do it anymore. I Dnfed immediately.

A sweet, heartfelt romance that defies expectations

I won this book in a giveaway, and it turned out to be such a delightful surprise. Unlikely Harmony is exactly what its title promises…a tender love story between two people from vastly different worlds, fighting the odds to be together.

We follow Aleen, a poised and accomplished lawyer from a privileged background, who meets Tray, a struggling musician, completely by chance. What starts as a simple seat at the bar turns into genuine conversation, undeniable chemistry, and a connection neither of them can ignore. Aleen’s world is polished and structured, valedictorian, successful career, parents who are a doctor and a dentist, while Tray’s is raw and uncertain, built around his dream of making it big in music despite financial hardships and a strained relationship with his parents.

Their romance blooms amidst challenges…band drama, a record deal, tours, and long distance fears. I loved seeing Aleen’s determination when she reshapes her career to work remotely, proving she’s willing to step into his chaotic world while still holding her own. Family dynamics add depth to the story, from her divided parental opinions to Tray’s emotional journey toward reconciliation with his own. The author handles this with heart, and I’ll admit I teared up more than once.

Yes, there are small indie author imperfections in flow and editing, but they didn’t pull me out of the story. The emotional core, the character connection, and the way these two navigate their differences kept me engaged from start to finish. It’s charming, sincere, and proof that love can thrive across all kinds of divides.

Final verdict: A warm, uplifting read with heart, hope, and a couple you can’t help rooting for.
