“Bouchard dishes up the sweetest second chance romance that will warm your heart to the end.” –Caitlin Moss, author of You First and Goodbye Again

After an affair with a client's husband leads to scandal, private chef Devon Paige is left with only one client in Boston -a reclusive professional basketball player with a craving for cookies. With no other choice, Devon lands on the doorstep of Rockwood, a boarding school on the New Hampshire seacoast, taking a job leading their dining services. She is shocked to soon discover Kyle Holling on staff, who she hasn't seen in over fifteen years since a memorable night just before departing for college in different cities. Devon and Kyle must determine what their relationship looks like years later, all while dodging the cameras of an underground newspaper, dealing with the installation of a controversial campus sculpture, and grappling with the arrival of Devon's former lover's daughter as a newly-enrolled student.

When Devon meets a handsome paramedic named Heath, she ditches the possibility of romance with Kyle in favor of what appears to be a more straightforward relationship. But a trip to Los Angeles to keep her client well-fed ahead of his basketball game threatens to upend everything, forcing Devon to finally answer the one question she has been is fifteen years too late to rekindle a one-night stand?

Jenn Bouchard, the Author of “Considering Us” has written an entertaining, delightful, heartfelt, and captivating novel. The Genres for this novel are Romantic Fiction, Romantic Comedy, Sports Fiction, and Contemporary Fiction. In this well-written Rom-Com, the author vividly describes her colorful and dramatic characters, the various scenery, and an assortment of delicious foods, especially cookies. (“YUM”) Jenn Bouchard discusses forgiveness, second chances, believing in yourself, the importance of family, friends, honesty, communication, love and hope.

One of the female protagonists in this story, Devon Paige has an amazing history of romantic relationships. Her most memorable one was fifteen years earlier, and lasted for one day. She did try to contact Kyle, and never was able to connect again. Devon is now a well known chef, and loses her job and reputation in the local community after an affair with a client’s husband. Devon manages to keep one client, a famous basketball player, and starts a new chapter in an exclusive boarding school managing the food and menus.

A recipe for disaster strikes, when a new student is admitted, who is the daughter of the man she had the affair with. It appears that Kyle, from fifteen years ago, is the handsome history teacher and coach. There also is an underground newspaper with unknown contributors, taking incriminating pictures of the staff. Devon seems to be in charge for the many activities on the campus. Of course Devon gets to meet some likable men. There are betrayals and secrets. Can you guess the outcome? I highly recommend this enjoyable novel!

“First Course” was the first book I read by Jenn Bouchard and was a favorite and instantly became a fan. “Considering Us” does not disappoint.

As Chef Devon Paige tries to recover from losing all but one of her clients due to an affair with a clients husband, her best friend Tam makes her aware of a job as Dining Services Director at Rockwood Boarding School in New Hampshire. As Devon decides how to move forward, she takes the job as well as keeping on her famous client David Anders, who plays for the Boston Celtics, who struggles with self-confidence in his abilities.

Unbeknownst to Devon, she runs into Kyle Holling, who is the soccer coach and history/government teacher at Rockwood. She hasn’t seen him in 15 years since their unforgettable one-night stand 15 years ago.

As she struggles with her career, trying to figure out her feelings for Kyle, she meets paramedic Heath Davis.

Filled with references to 80’s and 90’s movies, and how Devon and Tam reference them to their relationships or occurrences in their lives, along with the descriptions of the amazing food Devon cooks along with her famous cookies, you will be laughing, crying, and craving the recipes. Including wanting to know the one for her famous cookies.

As Devon is in LA for her famous client David Anders, she’s at a bar drinking her favorite cocktail, a whiskey sour, and engaged in friendly and attentive conversation with bartender Charlie Donelan. She asks him “Is fifteen years too late to rekindle a one-night stand?” He answers, “It depends. Are the two people involved better suited for each other now than they were then?”

A romance, comedy, and love story that you will enjoy and maybe even make you wonder about second chances at what is most important in life. Thank you #JennBouchard and #BlackRoseWriting for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I’m definitely a fan and can’t wait for the next book.

Jenn has done it again! A wonderful romantic comedy that I couldn’t put down. The characters are each so well developed that they felt like friends. It was hard to say goodbye to them when I finished the last page. I love how Jenn weaves in places and things known to her and to her readers. Jenn’s details are top-notch — I could practically smell the foods she described — and, I think I might become a whiskey sour drinker!

Mistakes were made. Private chef Devon Paige knows mistakes were made... By her. As a result, she finds herself reputation under scrutiny and suddenly dropped by all by one of her clients. When an opportunity comes to serve as the dining manager at a private bordering school, Devon takes the job. At least for the time being. But when she shows up to work, she discovers Kyle Holling, the school's history teacher is also the One Who Got Away fifteen years ago. Add in private school shenanigans by the students AND the adults, a hot paramedic, a professional basketball player with issues, and an underground school newspaper with a vendetta against the school's newest employee. Devon has a lot on her plate, and it's not just the food she's serving up.

Set in small town New England, Considering Us is for readers who know sometimes the right person comes along at the wrong time but that fate has a way of bringing us second chances. Bouchard weaves a story full of romance and found family that will keep readers rooting for Devon to figure out exactly where she needs to be, and who she needs to be with, to find her happily ever after.

(Closed door, some language, will make you very hungry.)

This is a fabulous second chance romance set in a boarding school in New Hampshire.

Devon is a private chef in Boston who gets involved in a scandal. She takes a job as Director of Dining at a New Hampshire boarding school. She also finds out that her college flame of 12 intense hours 15 years ago is the history teacher and soccer coach at the same school.

I read this book in a day. I enjoyed Devon’s character development in both her personal and professional lives. I liked the drama that happened within the halls of the boarding school.

One of my favorite parts was Devon’s brotherly relationship with a 22 year old pro basketball player.

Food, friendship, sports, romance, academia, and even an understanding bartender make this a great romance read.

"Considering Us" by Jenn Bouchard is a lighthearted ode to the romantic comedy of yesterday. Think, "When Harry Met Sally" or "You've Got Mail", but updated for modern time. I found the characters in the story very lovable, and I was rooting for all of them to succeed in their own way, except one, he was not even likable. There was even a dash of mystery sprinkled throughout the story! I took this book on vacation and finished it on the plane before I even hit the beach! So, I read it again! The pacing of the story was on point and had all the ingredients to keep my attention! I would recommend reading this book and sharing it with friends and family! Now, if I could just get my hands on those cookies!!

A Second-Chance Romance with All the Feels
"If you love second-chance romance with depth and drama, this book is a must-read! Devon’s story is compelling from the start, and her chemistry with Kyle is undeniable. The tension between past regrets and present choices is masterfully handled, making the journey to love feel authentic and deeply satisfying. Bouchard has a gift for creating characters that feel real, and Considering Us is a story that will stay with you long after you turn the last page."

I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway and it came personally signed for me by the author. She also included a bookmark and a sweet note in the package, and it really made my day.

I loved the book. Beautifully written and kept my attention. It usually takes me several weeks to finish a book, but this one kept me coming back for more every day. I loved the characters and the fact that Jenn Bouchard created a love story that was interesting without being raunchy.

Can’t wait to read more of her books!

An incredible chef, the Boston Celtics and a New England boarding school. What could possibly be messy? Jenn Bouchard has crafted a culinary RomCom complete with mean girls, paparazzi, and delicious menus. Food brings people together and the ingredients in this story are as varied as enchilada filling and more complex then Devon’s Chicken Milanese. A delightful fireside read, preferably with a hot Carmel macchiato!

This is a fun second chance romance that takes place at a boarding school in beautiful New England. It's interesting to read about student reactions to adults trying to figure out relationships, and I really enjoyed the setting. The characters are well-developed and Devon and Kyle still had their attraction from years before. With student pranks and snarky dialogue this novel brings back memories and made me smile.

I received a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

A Heartfelt Second-Chance Romance

"Considering Us is a beautifully written second-chance romance with all the ingredients of a compelling love story—past regrets, emotional depth, and the struggle to choose between what’s safe and what truly matters. Devon’s journey of redemption and self-discovery is both relatable and inspiring, while Kyle’s quiet strength makes him the perfect counterpart. Bouchard crafts a slow-burn romance that will keep readers hooked until the very last page."

I tend to enjoy books with a boarding school setting and loved this one! Rockwood was a unique school and I could clearly picture the New England location. Devon was such a likable character! She made a cringy choice early on but I was rooting for her regardless. She was a talented chef with such a good heart. All the references to her delicious creations made me hungry! There were some fun secondary characters as well and the character development was fantastic.

Big thank you to the author for an advance copy of this delightful book.

Chef Devon Paige fears her career and life are over when an ill-fated affair becomes public in a very big way. After losing all but one of her high-end clients, all she wants to do is retreat to her beloved studio apartment in Boston while she tries to figure out what to do to salvage her reputation, but fate- it seems- has other plans. Following her spectacular downfall, her best friend refers her to a job at the prestigious boarding school Rockwood in New Hampshire. With no other options in sight, and despite "the one who got away" working at the school, Devon accepts. Thus begins the first of many second chances for Devon Paige.

I'm a big fan of redemption stories and second chances. Especially after major public embarrassments. I'm always rooting for people to be better and have a better life. Most people. Devon is no different. After working for upscale clients, she gets sucked into a romance with an unhappily married man and gets ruined (because the woman always gets ruined, right?), and she has to figure out how to keep her life going while dealing with the very public backlash of her affair.

Being tucked away at Rockwood might have been just what she needed, if there wasn't someone on the school's underground newspaper with some sort of vendetta against her. Adding to that, the undeniable chemistry she still has with the man she had a one night stand with 15 years before, and she fears scandal will just follow her wherever she goes.

I found Bouchard's writing to be very accessible and the story to be a fast, light read. There's a hunky paramedic, a lovelorn coach, and even a professional basketball player with crippling imposter syndrome and a bad case of introversion. Not to mention loads of little historical facts that made this former historian-in-training smile more than once, and pop culture references you'll only get if you're 40+ (or Gen X at heart).

There is plenty of food talk, but not so much as to overwhelm the reader. Bouchard also (thankfully) manages to avoid too many food metaphors or puns.

Considering Us is chock-full of second chances, so if you love the second chance trope, you're going to absolutely love this story.

Things to love:
- Second chances
- Foodie references
- Historical fun facts
- '80s & early '90s pop culture references.

If you're looking for a light read that will make you smile (and maybe a little hungry), this is the book for you.

Engaging

This is a wonderful story, although I admit to wondering where it was going in the beginning. It's somewhat an adult coming of age, with interesting "characters" in all nuances of that term.

This is my first reading experience with this author, and it won’t be my last! I love books with characters who are belovedly flawed, and that is Devon all over. There is the understanding that while Devon doesn’t support a lifestyle of scandal and affairs, she has found herself amidst that very thing with her client’s husband, and the reader knows from the get go that while Devon is successful and enjoys what she does for a living, there is something missing from her life that has led her down a path she wouldn’t ordinarily take.

Armed with only one loyal client, she lands a job as the head cook in a boarding school kitchen, an occupation she’s never done and never really saw herself doing. It was fun to see her switch gears and go for something completely outside of herself, because that type of experience lends into character growth, and I saw a lot of that within Considering Us. Digging deeper into her past and how she was raised, by getting to meet her parents–one who has been very supportive, but the other has never let Devon feel good enough, not ever–along with Kyle, a former flame of hers who has felt like a lost opportunity, I felt like I learned so much about Devon and why she is the way she is, and how important her new job is to her. She has an opportunity to shape young minds while trying to figure out where she stands with Kyle, and how he could potentially fit into her life.

I loved the dialogue between everyone, particularly when Devon talks with Kyle. There is witty back-and-forth banter that made the experience fun, and I could feel the connection between them, and the camaraderie of their shared history. Heath reminded me of Chris Klein’s Dusty Dinkleman, from the movie Just Friends. It’s one of my favorite rom-coms, and I could totally see this overly sweet, seemingly perfect person–and they even share the same profession! And while Heath isn’t as much of a jerk as Dusty turns out to be, it seems everyone, including Devon’s friends and relatives, feels some type of way about Heath. He could be the safe choice–but who wants to play it safe?

I really enjoyed Considering Us. It was fun, and it was sweet. And I loved the connections–Devon and Kyle, Devon and her one loyal client (an epic scene between the two of them brought me to tears), and the friendship connections Devon makes along the way with some unexpected characters. It really was a joy to read, making it a five-star experience for me!

Nobody writes a New England story like Jenn Bouchard, especially with mouth-watering food you can taste while you read. I need those cookies! I loved this second chance love rom-com bursting with ordinary Jane vs highfalutin boarding school vibes that made me want to rewatch all the old movies mentioned and make a mixed CD. Considering Us is a feel-good, humorous yet realistic book that I’ll hold in my heart as a new classic.

It offers second chance romance, new romance, mean girls, sweet super star athlete, best friends, quirky situations, dumb mistakes. It's a wonderful slice of life you'll enjoy biting into.

A sweet second chance romance featuring plenty of delicious food, boarding school shenanigans, and a swoony soccer coach.

Devon Paige has had quite the successful career as a private chef. That is, until she has an affair with a famous client that leads to a scandal that has her losing all of her clients except for one (who happens to be a famous basketball player who loves cookies). Now with few options remaining, Devon decides to accept her best friend Tam's offer to work at Rockwood, a prestigious boarding school that is in desperate need of a food coordinator. Upon her arrival, she is shocked to find none other than Kyle Hollis among the school's staff. Her and Kyle met fifteen years ago in college and had a one night stand that Devon still can't get out of her mind. Devon tries her hardest to fight her feelings for Kyle, but she feels the same attraction that she did all those years ago. When Devon meets a hot paramedic by the name of Heath, Devon's love life gets even more complicated, and she quickly finds herself amidst a love triangle that she's having a hard time unraveling. Will she give true love a second chance, or will she take the easy way out and choose the man with the least resistance?

This is the first book that I have read by Bouchard, and I found it to be quite an enjoyable read. I thought that this was going to be a summery road trip book based on the cover, but it actually is a fall/winter read that takes place at a boarding school (which is honestly better in my opinion). I must say, I thought she was working at a college initially, but it is indeed a high school boarding school. Overlooking this fact made a couple of things feel a little odd originally, but I eventually figured it out. It was neat to read a rom-com that took place at a school between two adults. This just seems really unique to me and I can't recall reading another book like this.

I really enjoyed Devon and Kyle as characters. The fact that Devon is a chef is really fun; I may not be much of a foodie myself, but I think it's super cool that some people are super into cooking. Her relationships she develops with David, an elite basketball player, and Adrienne, the daughter of the man she had an affair with were sweet to watch form; seeing these bonds blossom was definitely a highlight of this book. Devon's intimate decisions are questionable, but I could overlook this for the sake of the rest of her character. Kyle was my favorite character, for sure. I love how into history he is and all the quirky stories he tells about the US presidents. Teachers like Kyle are ones that students really latch onto, and I'm pretty sure I would be no different. Kyle's character also has a ton of depth due to his divorce and his kid that he has split custody of. I loved getting to know these two as people and seeing them fall in love all over again was quite entertaining and a bit inspiring actually.

I also want to mention Devon's best friend, Tam. She has a love for movies and comparing the real world to events that happens in iconic (and less heard of) films, which I found really neat. I may not have understood every reference due to my lack of film knowledge, but I think having characters addicted to rom-com movies in a romantic comedy of a book is a ton of fun.

I must admit, this book did have me missing my boyfriend a ton. His name is also Kyle, so reading a romance novel with a Kyle as one of the main love interests was simultaneously really fun and slightly painful. Kyle did end up being one of my favorite characters, though, so it was definitely worth all the emotions in the long run.

Overall, "Considering Us" is a fun romantic comedy that pulls off several iconic tropes with finesse. I am usually not a huge fan of second chance romances or love triangles, but I felt that they both worked so well in this novel. This book takes place at a boarding school and has impeccable fall and wintery vibes. I really like Kyle as a character and Devon was also a great lead character. They both have a ton of baggage, so I found it inspiring seeing them come together despite everything. I really enjoyed my time with "Considering Us" and will definitely be checking out more work by Bouchard in the future!

Thank you to the author, and the publisher for this ARC.

This is the second book I've read by her and hoping to love it as much as her first book. She has a knack for writing about food in a different way in this book than her first of course (I just made a pun since that was her first books title which is First Course).

As a private chef, Devon's life blew up when she was caught having an affair with her client's husband (15 years older than her) in Boston. She has one client left, David, who's a Boston Celtic player, who she still cooks for after she leaves Boston. He's sort of shy, but not with her and occasionally she travels to him at his away games.

Thanks to her good friend Tam, who's a reporter and anchor at a Boston tv station (and loves romcoms from the 80s and 90s and always mentioning couples from them for romance purposes) she gets another job at a boarding school in New Hampshire, leading their dining services. She meets up again with Kyle (how coincidental right?) who also is a teacher and soccer coach who she hasn't seen for over 15 years and only knew for 12 hours but what 12 hours they were! Will their romance start up again? Then she meets Heath a paramedic, who comes to the school for a 911 call for a soccer player who fainted in the heat. What will happen? Can't wait to see what transpires. Have to say one thing about Devon, she's honest with Kyle about their past relationship and how she tried to find him after he went to London and never came back but mostly about her honesty that she's going on a date with Heath.

The high jinx at this school is unbelievable and mean girls exist. As for the staff, Andrea was "thrown" into the job just like Devon and her niece is one of the mean girls. The other girl Adrienne, is -- Devon's former lover's daughter. Geez. How much crazier can it get? She tends to like Devon and Devon likes her and she takes her under her wing to teach her how to cook.

Devon's parents are one of a kind. Her father is gentle and all around nice guy but her mother is I guess you can say rough. She doesn't appreciate anything Devon does and says what's on her mind. I guess Devon got her genes from her Dad.

I liked both Heath and Kyle but they had totally different personalities and who would I pick? Not sure, just like Devon is. In the end, she made the right decision.

Can you tell I loved this book? My review is twice as long as all of my others it seems and I finished it in 2 days.

Can't wait for her next book.

To say that personal chef Devon Paige finds herself in a compromising position at the novel’s start would be an understatement: she’s caught in a hall closet with her client’s husband, and let’s just say they aren’t looking for fresh towels. To make matters worse, it’s his teenage daughter who gets a front row seat to their indiscretion in “Considering Us” by Jenn Bouchard.

The scandal rocks her world, and soon Devon is forced to leave Boston and take a job at Rockwood School, a New Hampshire boarding school, only to find that Kyle Holling, a man who stole her heart fifteen years earlier, also works there as a social studies teacher and soccer coach. As if that wasn’t enough, the daughter of her former employer who discovered her in the closet, a wealthy girl with a good heart and a rebellious streak, arrives soon after, having gotten kicked out of her previous private school.

Fighting her attraction to Kyle and still hurting from his subsequent ghosting after their long-ago one-night stand, Devon dates handsome paramedic Heath and tries to forget Kyle, who is divorced with a young daughter. After her previous scandal, the last thing she needs is another work faux pas. Meanwhile, a dash of mystery lurks in the background. Someone is publishing an underground newsletter, campus pranks are getting out of hand, and the paternity of a student is in question. All the while, Devon searches for a way to forgive Kyle and give him a second chance. Devon’s one loyal client, professional basketball player David Anders, is a steady force in her life during this period, as is her best friend Tam. They both nudge her along the path back to Kyle.

This is a light romance—there are no on-screen romance scenes and most of the interludes are referred to in hindsight rather than illustrated for the reader—with a touch of humor and a side dose of mystery. Jenn Bouchard’s “Considering Us” will appeal to fans of clean romance and could cross over into cozy mystery or work as a YA crossover, with its subplots of boarding school intrigue. Foodies will appreciate the many dishes Devon serves up. A fun, light second-chance romance that will make your mouth water.

I enjoyed Jenn's last book FIRST COURSE so I was excited to read CONSIDERING US. Thank you @jennbouchardbos @blackrosewriting and @suzyapprovedbooktours for the #gifted book and this is my honest review.

I loved everything about this book of second chances and I devoured it in one day. After a scandal with a client, Private Chef Devon Page is only left with one client an introverted professional basketball player. Her best friend Tam finds her a job as Director of Dining at the private school Rockwood. Devon is surprised to learn that the man she had a one night stand with 15 years ago is the History teacher and soccer coach. Devon must decide if she still has the same feelings for Kyle. Is 15 years too late to rekindle a one night stand?

I liked the brother/sister relationship between Devon and David the basketball player. I enjoyed the quirky and fun cast of secondary characters. The mischievous students and the underground newspaper added tension and humor. There is mention of food and Devon's famous cookies that everyone loved. I could feel the chemistry between Devon and Kyle and wanted them to get their second chance at romance.

This refreshing and heartwarming story has engaging elements of the workplace, friendship, and a second-chance romance.

Devon (Dev) Paige, a personal chef to wealthy clientele, is trying to regain her footing after getting caught with one of her client’s husbands. She lands a job as the director of dining services at a boarding school in New Hampshire. Surprisingly, the man Devon had a one-night stand with in college fifteen years ago, Kyle Holling, is working as a teacher at the school.

I enjoyed how Jenn Bouchard seamlessly wove Devon’s career and romantic life together. The writing is so natural and easy; I got lost in the story and loved following Dev and seeing what choices she would make and what foods she would cook up.

Academia in New England was the perfect backdrop for Dev and Kyle’s reunion, bringing back their old memories and creating new ones. They were relatable, well-developed characters with whom I loved spending time.

From school pranks and gossip to fun friendship banter and even basketball, 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐔𝐬 is a warm, entertaining, and delicious read.

Thank you @suzyapprovedbooktours and @jennbouchardbos for a gifted ebook.

Overall this was a decent, fun read. I was drawn to it being from the same area it takes place and loving a good New England prep school read. I did like that it was more of a closed door romance, it worked for the vibe of this book. There were a lot of storylines - some that could have been more fleshed out and some of them seemed a little far fetched, but they all fit in and even made me laugh at times. The characters were interesting even if I wanted to roll my eyes at their behavior sometimes. I wanted more interactions between Kyle and Devon to make their chemistry believable.

That being said, the narrator for the audiobook was horrendous. The voices for the different characters were ridiculously over the top, the fake Boston and Maine accents were worse, she mispronounced places around Boston/Mass, and she mixed up words within sentences. If you read this, go for the kindle version!

I've been a fan of Jenn Bouchard since I read FIRST COURSE, and I've been eagerly awaiting anything and everything from her, knowing I would love it. And Bouchard did not disappoint with CONSIDERING US! This second-chance romance has all the heart and more I expected. Devon Paige is a private chef who makes a mistake in having an affair with a client's husband. When that relationship goes up in flames, Devon moves to Rockwood, a New Hampshire boarding school, and to head their dining services. There she encounters an old love, Kyle Holling, and though it's been fifteen years since she's spent any time with him, Devon is still intrigued. Humorous, heartwarming, and especially engaging--and full of culinary delights and Bouchard's characteristic New England setting--CONSIDERING US is one of my new favorites!
