When my dad called to lecture me about how it’s time to settle down, quit partying, and get a job that will actually prepare me for life after college, I agreed. Mostly.

After spring break, I’ll buckle down and be ready to work, but until then, I’m getting my fill of fun. Which is why when I spot an attractive man sitting alone at a bar, I approach him with the hopes of being able to tempt him into a night full of pleasure. After all, being with an older guy is just about the only thing I haven’t done.

When I wake up in his bed with a note that makes it clear he doesn’t intend on seeing me again, I take it in stride. But when I show up to the job my dad set up for me, it turns out my new boss, Alexander Gates, is the guy who thought he’d be done with me after a one-night stand. On top of that, apparently he’s a friend of my dad’s, and the head of the company.

I tried moving on from our night together, but working with him day after day is just too tempting to not have a taste again.

Tropes: age gap, dad's friend, boss/employee, forbidden relationship
Feels: 3/5
Steam*: 3/5
Kinks: no
Angst: low
HEA: yes
Pairing: MM
Triggers/potential icks/content themes: internalized homophobia, bad parents

Jayden is 22, about to graduate college, bi. He is a very extroverted and social person. He's in the doghouse with his dad right now because his dad thinks he's not taking his future seriously, he's seen social media of wild behavior.

Aleksander is 41, gay, but very much in the closet. His parents were homophobes. They died when he was a young adult. When his dad found out that he is gay his dad was extremely verbally abusive. And he was also assaulted by some peers physically. So he has a lot of issues, and has internalized homophobia. Aleksander is Jayden's dad's boss and friend.

Jayden's dad arranges an internship for him. A few days after hooking up with Aleksander, Jayden walks into the internship and finds out his boss is his hook up. Jaden presses for them to continue a casual sexual relationship. Alek gives in, but he has a lot of rules for Jayden because of his internalized homophobia.

I have to say this book was not for me. I know dealing with internalized homophobia is a thing and it's a very human thing to struggle, but it's just not my cup of tea to read a romance novel that has such a strong focus on that. I felt like Alek was unfair to Jayden and every previous partner he's ever had, and it just made him an unlikable character for me. He made it such a big deal to refuse to kiss, reciprocate oral sex, or bottom, because he thought sex with men was okay as long as he wasn't doing those things. It's just very ugly to me.

Also I just could not see this couple making it work long term. They were at such different stages in their lives. And Jayden is so extroverted and needs that social stimulation so much more than Alek. I don't see their recreation preferences being compatible. There were also some jump the shark moments. Like Jayden getting drunk and calling Alek for a ride home from the bar, just get an Uber and on another occasion inviting Alek to his college graduation, that is not where your relationship is and you know it lol. At that point they were just f*** buddies.

The end was unbelievable too, spoiler alert, Alek gives up his CEO job and moves to be with Jayden who is in an entry-level job at his company. He does that when they are just deciding to move from f*** buddies to dating. They have not developed their relationship, they are not in a forever place, they have not exchanged I love yous and are committed. It's does not make sense.

This quote from the book sums up how I see their relationship LOL:

"Not every story needs a happily ever after, right? Ours could’ve been greater, even if we knew it was going to end. Sometimes, it’s about the journey and the lessons learned and memories made."

Other than my concerns with the plot content, it was an okay read. Jayden was likeable. The tension and steam between them was good. I wish the transition from f*** buddies to more had been done better.

*FYI, I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink."

Second read through on audio: I was so excited to start this audio since this is one my absolute favs by this author. Was so fun to visit Jay and Alek again and the narrator did a fantastic job. Definitely still recommend this story!

Ok it’s official. This is my favourite book of the series. Jay and Alek were 🔥!! I’m a sucker for a good forbidden romance book and this book definitely delivered with an awesome boss/employee relationship! There was a bit more angst to this one but it definitely made sense with their story.

There are two major things that stood out to me in this book. One being that Jay as the employee who got the job through his dad and was involved with his boss almost from the beginning didn’t get any special treatment at work once he started. He had to do the work just like everyone else and he was good at it! He was passionate about his role and what he was doing. I loved that his job was important to him and it wasn’t just a place for him to fool around with his boss.

The second is that this is one of those books that has an MC that has the rule of “I don’t kiss”. I know when this happens that the first kiss is going to be amazing and I can never wait for it to happen. In this book it was absolutely the sweetest kiss! It wasn’t during a hot scene or part of some huge declaration of love but I’d say it was better, it was so incredibly cute and was absolutely perfect for them!

This is the fourth book in the series and I absolutely recommend reading the others but you wouldn’t be lost I don’t think if you didn’t read them. I am quickly making my way through this author’s MM library and can’t wait to get to the next one!

* 4.5 stars *

Even though this is the fourth book in a series, it can work as a standalone, and that's how I chose to read it. I haven't read any of the previous books, and I could perfectly follow the plot.

"Tempting Him" starts with a random hookup between two strangers who have no intention of meeting again. And then, at a meeting for the new interns, they realize that they're connected in more ways than one.

Aleksander is Jayden's new boss at the company where he'll work to gain some experience until he graduates from college. He's also his father's boss and very close friend.

At first, they're both surprised by the unexpected reunion, but they vow to keep a professional distance and act as if they've never met before. Aleksander is drawn to the younger man and can't deny it to himself for long. He finds himself seeking Jayden out and wanting to know how he's doing with his projects.

Jayden, for his part, is open about how much he wants for something to happen between them again, and he can't help but tease Aleksander and try to make him jealous, hoping that will gain him the reaction he wants.

The secret relationship, age gap, and workplace romance tropes, along with Aleksander being good friends with Jayden's father, made for an interesting combination. All that, along with a spot-on execution, delivered an exciting and engaging story. I didn't want to put the book down, and I was sucked in the story quickly.

Both characters were interesting and likable, and their interactions were those of equals. There was no power imbalance between them. Work was work, and they never let their relationship affect their professional one. The age gap wasn't a big issue either, their major hurdle was Aleksander's friendship with Jayden's father, and it made for some fascinating scenes once the truth was out.

It's a fun read with some great characters and an exciting plot. Low-angst and perfect for a relaxing afternoon.

I highly recommend it!

So of course this story was sexy but it had its sweet moments too because Aleksander is battling some personal demons in regards to his sexuality and how he deals with intimacy and feelings. It stems from his upbringing, but once he opens up to Jayden, he is given the space to grow.

I love Jayden's character. He's charming and carefree and and just adorable.

Aleksander is an uptight alpha type but with the right person, he blossoms emotionally.

I really appreciated how the author handled Aleksander telling the story of what he dealt with in regards to his parents' homophobia. The experiences were told with respect without minimizing his trauma and how it affected him into adulthood.

The characters had great chemistry from beginning to end and were a great match!

This is my first read by Isabel and I loved every single thing about it. This is definitely one of my favorite "feel good" romance reads of this year.

I adore the upbeat, loving and 100% extrovert that is Jayden. This young man knows who he is, isn't afraid to go after something he wants and isn't afraid to love. He is one of those characters that made me want him as a best friend - Isabel writes him in a way where his energy just jumps off the page. I found myself smiling so much over what what flies out of his mouth, what can I say - I'm smiling as I type this review.

Alek had my heart gripped, this man was put thru Hell and beat down over his choices. When Jayden finds him, his whole world was lit up in a way that he didn't expect. I really enjoyed seeing him come out of his shell along with Jayden pushing the boundaries he made. How he goes from being buried so far in the closet to out, it was like having the opportunity of watching a flower bloom for the first time and let me tell you, when this man truly loves - he loves with all of his being.

This is one of those romances that made my heart so darn happy. I loved how it went from a one night stand, to a smexy times only, to something much more. I really enjoyed that, even though, Jayden was the younger out of the two of them he was wiser in a sense and wasn't afraid to speak the truth and his thoughts on things. Isabel covered issues of mental abuse and homophobia in a tasteful manner without taking from the characters or story itself. She brought the heat and turned it up high enough to make me want to stand in front of my open freezer. Last, but not least, she made me fall in love with not just the characters, but the whole story from beginning to end. I will definitely be checking out more of her works in the future.

Isabel takes us on a deliciously decadent and taboo journey that will tug at your hearts strings and leave your panties in disarray. Alek and Jay were so much more than I could have ever prepared for. I fell hard and fast for these two, especially Alek who takes a whole different journey that broke my heart. This book is full of all the steam that you can handle, but the heart that Isabel brought forth was what really cemented this book as a MUST READ for me.

Alek’s struggle through this story and the growth that he has was so viscerally emotional, you have a physical reaction to it. Isabel slices you open with his pain and shreds your soul with his internal struggle. The intricacies and layers that Isabel seamlessly wrote into their journey elevates this story in ways that you can’t even begin to prepare for. Simply, I could not put this book down, I blew through this cover to cover because these two owned me from the start, Isabel slayed it!!

4.5/5⭐️ 3.5-3.75/5🔥

South River University has come to an end and I’m going to miss these characters so much. Isabel’s characters that she’s written have developed into just beauty. Quick and Easy to read, predicable but just absolutely hilarious and cute that you just fall for them and the story itself.

Jay has a one night stand but of course, he sees him the next day at his internship AND finds out he’s not only his dads boss but his as well

They quickly have an arrangement but Aleksander has emotional problems with that fact that he is into men due to his family, it’s heartbreaking but just wonderful the way Isabel has written it. I keep saying Ronan was my favorite and then Travis but not that Jay is here. I completely lied and Jay is my beyond FAV to read. 🥺😍

This story follows party boy Jay & boring Mr. Drakos (Alek). One random night Jay meets a man at bar (Alek) who’s relatively older. They both decided on just 1 night together while they follow his(Alek) rules. Only Monday comes around and they come face to face bc Jay is interning for his company, yeah he’s the CEO. Oh and did I forget to mention he’s also Jays father’s boss AND friend ? Yeah messy…. that doesn’t really stand in the way though bc his dad & the main office are back in Chicago. After a few days of them working together the tension gets so thick they decide they’ll be fuck buddies until he leaves in a month.

What Jay quickly realizes is that Alek is dealing with some demons of his own that prevents him for opening up & being intimate. I learned something in this book that I was slightly aware of but not well versed in. Our MC grew up in a very toxic, abusive & homophobic household which caused him to have internalized homophobia. I applaud Lucia for tackling such a tough topic in this book without it being too dark & overshadowing the relationship between these two men. I really love her style of writing in that aspect. Every single one of her books touch on sensitive topics so it’s always an educational yet smutty read.

I absolutely loved the dynamics between these two, it was giving a bit of grumpy/sunshine & there are a lot of teachable moments between them. Alek is possessive, jealous, hate everyone but you & Jay is very extroverted, carefree & FUN. The banter was absolutely hilarious I was cracking up reading about these two. Jay us so lively & lovable & I loved watching him break down Aleks walls. The conflict in this book made me very sad but I’m happy with the way it ended. This was such a beautiful story & I loved every minute of it. Honestly this entire series mad me so damn happy.

And that’s another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ read from the South River series!

Book four was actually the reason I found this series, but I wanted to go back and read from the beginning and I’m so glad that I did!

I absolutely loved reading about Jay and Alek. I’ve been waiting for Jay’s HEA since book one, and it was so bloody good. I loved the chemistry between our MCs, I loved the drama and I loved the communication.

So if you like the sound of:
• One night stand with an older guy
• He turns out to be your boss…
• And a friend of your dads…
• Neither of you can stay away from each other

Then I would definitely recommend picking up this book!

Read last night as part of my kindle unlimited. Man, I didn’t think anyone could top Dom and Trevor but I was sooooo wrong.

Jayden is freaking hilarious and such a ball of sunshine. He’s confident in his masculinity and his sexuality and gives no fucks. In walks Alek, authoritarian Mr. Missionary, a rich older man who apparently likes to fuck on luxury balconies.

Though this book was an explosion of chemistry and sexy times, Alek’s journey on the road to vulnerability was the highlight of the book. Him learning to accept his sexuality and seek therapy for the trauma his father caused was beautifully written. I honestly love Jayden and Alek so much.

Jay has been the fun loving and caring guy since book one and I was super excited to get his read because I knew it would be amazing. I was not disappointed going into this read. Jay loves life, likes to have fun, would do anything for his friends, yet he is also mature enough to know that at some point fun does come to an end and it is time to grow up. He gets an internship with his dad’s sister company and before he starts, he has one last hoorah that’s when he meets Alek. Alek is a workaholic broody man that has his own secrets, one night is all he can promise and that’s all he thinks he needs with Jay. Little does these two know that when Jay walks into his internship will Alek not only be his boss, but also his father’s friend and needless to say they are both surprised. While keeping things professional the tension melts off the pages until they collide and decide this is more than one night but no catching feelings, yet we know that is always impossible. While forming a friend with benefits situation Jay starts to get under Alek’s skin but everything is so forbidden because of the friendship with Jay’s father, Alek being his boss, and the age gap surely things can’t be more?! Alek’s past still gives him hang-ups about who he truly is and still play in his mind while he inflicts self-hatred on himself. Jay sees this from a mile away knowing that he is dealing with so much he wants Alek to get help so he can be true to himself. This book was so steamy, yet the emotions were so real, and I my heart hurt for Alek and all he endured. No one should be condemned for who they love and who they want to be in this life. This author took real problems from this situation and made me the reader hurt yet love these beautiful men with all my heart. Can Alek let go of his past so he can have a future? Will Alek run the first chance things get to be too much? Will Jay be willing to wait on Alek to come to terms with himself or will he have to move on? Such a beautiful, emotional book that I absolutely adored, and those steamy moments were off the charts hot!!!

5 Stars!

Much as I loved Renzo and Ronan and Trevor and Dom, Jayden and Alek were definitely my favorites! Tempting Him can be perfectly read as a standalone, but for maximum enjoyment, I suggest reading the series in order.

Jayden was the party boy, the extrovert, he was friends with everyone and went through girls and boys like they were going out of style. Jay never expected to feel such a connection with his one-night-stand or that he would turn out to be his new boss/his father's friend. Alek needed to be in control, topping exclusively and avoiding intimacy. Jayden is a temptation he might not be able to resist, though.

I loved Jayden. I wanted to hug him when he was so out of sorts because of how Alek refused to even kiss him or allow them to get closer. He seemed very mature for his age, especially considering how emotionally stunted Alek was. I liked Alek, but I wanted to shake him and make him see the light, so to speak. The things he went through during his youth made me feel so bad for him, though, and I was glad he heeded Jay's advice on getting professional help.

Despite the age difference, the chemistry and connection between Jay and Alek were out of this world, I just loved them together. This book was very emotionally charged and deals with some internalized homophobia, so if that's a trigger for you, proceed with caution, but really, it was worth the pain for that lovely HEA. Highly recommendable!

Genre/Tropes: MM, Age Gap
POV: 1st, Dual
Series: South River University, Book 4
STEAM LEVEL: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Okay, I have to say that this series has become a favorite of mine. Each book is sexy and sweet. But what I love most is how each book approaches acceptance and self-discovery. Isabel is both considerate and outspoken about mental health and seeking help when you need it and I LOVE that.

Tempting Him finally brings us Jayden’s story and while Isabel said she completely rewrote his story, I can tell you this was PERFECT. After a one-night stand with the stoic and emotionally cut off Aleksander, a much older man, Jayden discovers he’s his new boss. What follows is an emotional, angsty, phenomenal story about overcoming past trauma and learning to accept who you are. Jayden’s extroverted, fun personality should have clashed with Aleksander’s introverted personality but instead Jayden brought life and love into his self-inflicted seclusion.

And the steam? Lawd, the steam!!!! Add in the age gap of 19 years, the tension, and alllll my favorite characters from previous books and I have to say I just loved this book. Dom and Trevor still remain my favorite couple, but there was just something about this romance that had me swooning. Maybe it was being attracted to Jayden’s personality since I’m an extrovert or maybe it was Aleksander’s character growth, but I’m leaving this series…happy and comforted.

Wow, wow, wow Tempting Him ~ book 4 in South River University Series and is an out of this world amazing age gap m/m romance.
I can’t believe this is the last book in the series. I’ve dying to read this for ages and it didn’t disappoint. I couldn’t stop reading it, but on the same note I didn’t want it to end.
I say this every time….. each book in this series I’ve read I’ve thought is my fav and the books couldn’t possibly get any better BUT let me tell you, I was wrong again! This book was just phenomenal. Im not normally a massive age gap romance fan but this one blow my mind. It’s sweet at times, funny, so, so hot and steamy but also so much depth to it. I was completely captivated Reading this and could really feel for the characters. Jay is so outgoing and lively and completely happy with who he is. Everyone loves him but for Alec things are very different. He hasn’t had the same sort of life or family as Jay. I felt very deeply for him and everything that’s happened.
I absolutely love Jay. When you read it you’ll see why. What’s not to love.
I don’t want to ruin the story for readers so I’ll leave it at this but trust me when I say this is a MUST read. Highly, highly recommend and worth so much more than ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you Isabel for an amazing last book in this series 🥰

A hot but definitely also sweet romance.

I really liked their relationship and could definitely see their chemistry together. The spice was really well done and I loved how Alek got more comfortable sexually as the book went on and he worked on his personal issues. Their teasing and affection was very endearing.

I think there should have been more tension or build up after they find out Jayden is the intern at Alek’s company because they continued their relationship way too quickly for me to feel the angst.

Sometimes I felt the characters spoke quite stiltedly/forced. For example they were having a conversation and then one of them said ‘I don’t think mental health should be a taboo topic. We all deal with our own issues, and though some might be more serious than others, I think it’s nice to be able to have a non-judgmental person listen to you and offer you advice and help’. To me this felt really out of place and just the author preaching about it (what he said is true but it’s the way he said it).

There was also this one plot point that didn’t sit right with me. Alek opens up to Jayden about being hate crimed for being gay and then Jayden goes and tries to make him feel better sexually? Personally I would have preferred him to show support/affection more platonically or at least less sexual.

Ok this is the fourth book in the South River series by Isabel and honestly when I read the last page all I thought was ‘that book was cute as shit’. I am sooo obsessed with this series. It’s 3 MM books and 1 MF and they’re all so light hearted and happy reads. I just adore them.

The characters in this were so sweet. I fell in love with Jay from the first page and just fell more and more as the book went on. He was an unapologetic, happy go lucky, good time guy who made everyone he mets world a better place and I wish he was my friend in real life 🤣

And Alek.. from the get go it was clear he had some deep emotional issues that went back a long time and as you learnt his story it was truly heartbreaking what he’d been through. He deserved so much better than the hand he was dealt and I loved how Jay made him see there was more to life and helped him start to love himself.

This is an age gap, dads best friend, boss/employee romance so it has a lot of tropes and they were all done so well. I loooooved them. And lemme tell you.. the sex scenes were absolute FIRE. Isabel knows how to write smut for real.

Overall, this book and series is definitely one I recommend if you’re looking for a feel good, *slighty* angsty, HEA book filled with spice!

Well, it seems my claims of Trev and Dom's story being my favorite was a bit premature. Jay and Alek have taken that spot. Jay meets Alek and the two have an amazing one night only type of thing. When Jay shows up for his first day of his internship, imagine his surprise when he realizes that his boss is Alek. Alek is refusing to let Jay get to him, and has made sure that Jay is clear that what they did will never happen again. But what happens when its Alek that caves, Alek who is so far in the closet that he doesn't even kiss as that is far too intimate. The two start a whole secret fling thing, a fling that Alek knows shouldn't be happening but he can't seem to help himself. What happens when that fling starts to mean more to Alek? What happens when Jay starts to want more from Alek? Will Alek be able to give Jay the type of relationship that he wants/needs, or will Alek have to cut ties?

This was such a good read! I enjoyed all the drama, the hot and steamy bits that were on fire, and of course the cast of characters that just make this series. I have no clue if this is it for the series or if there is more planned, but I have found an author that I will indeed keep an eye on. I give this 5 stars.

Isabel Lucero knows how to write a book with heart. Tempting Him is my first book by this wonderful author. This was the type of romance that kept a smile on my face and needed a cold shower. This is a workplace, age-gap, interracial, MM romance.
Jayden is in college and right before spring break, his dad lets him know he set up an internship for him at the company he works for but he plans to have a little fun before he has to get serious. Normally, his life is a party. When he goes to a bar, he is drawn to the gorgeous man having a drink alone. They have a one night stand never to see each other again, at least that’s the plan. The next day, when he reports to his new internship, he meets his one-night stand. His name is Aleksander Drakas and not only is he Jay's father's boss but his as well. What follows is a story full of emotion, past trauma, self-destructive feelings and one man who shines like the sun bringing light to another man's lonely existence.
This was time very well spent. I can’t wait to read more of this author's work. This review is my honest opinion, freely given.

Older man is tempted by a younger man what can happen? So in college you party and have experience what life has to offer. Until you are just about to graduate. Entering in the real adult world. Jayden is an extrovert liking everyone and they like him in everyway! He meets a man at a bar the they hit it off in an unusual way. They agree to one night of passion under his rules. Love them and leave it alone. So after spring break Jay is starting a new internship meeting his boss for the second time shock. Yes this was the man he spent the night with. Alek is his boss also a friend of Jayden's dad. They both try fighting their attraction for many reasons. Jayden's family accepts him being gay. Alex's didn't have that support. Alek and Jayden give into a hidden sexual relationship from everyone!!!! Until they have to face their past and people to find what they want. Jayden finds the right person to settle down with. Alek's found the right person to live again for and with. A very unique Tempting Love story

A Joyfully Jay review.

3.75 stars

Tempting Him is the fourth entry in the South River University series, but is easily read as a standalone. While other characters and couple do make appearances, it’s more as cameos than plot adjacent. Jayden is an easy-going extrovert — or extra-vert — as he can’t help himself from trying to charm everyone and everything around him. Including his grumpy boss. He flirts endlessly, making it clear what he wants and, while it might come across as pushy, it’s clear from Alek’s smiles, the ones he tries to fight, and the occasional snort of laughter (and the way he’s constantly showing up to watch over Jay’s group as they work on their projects) that Jay’s not the only one thinking about that night.

This is the fourth book in this amazing series and is Jayden and Alek’s story. Jayden is an extrovert who knows what he wants out of life and just goes for it, and when he spots an older man in a bar, they end up having a hot 1-night stand, and not expecting to see each other again. When Monday comes around Jayden sets of to begin his internship which his father has arranged for him, only to find out that mystery guy is not only his dad’s friend and boss, but he is now Jay’s as well, as he is CEO pf the company. Alek is challenged by his sexuality, but they chemistry between him and Jay is combustible and undeniable, and they complement each other perfectly. This is a well written story which is filled with emotions, humor, flirty and witty banter, family, and is an entertaining and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
