Andi Selby, a 27-year-old single mother of one living paycheck to paycheck, refuses to date and may possibly be cracking up due to longstanding loneliness and financial anemia.
Andi makes a last-minute decision to buy a lottery ticket for a drawing worth $212 million and learns that she is the sole winner. After she quits her job but before she cashes the ticket, she loses the ticket itself. For the next 182 days, Andi tries to find a way to support herself and her daughter, Rue, while searching for the lost ticket.
These six months become a trial in self-discovery for Andi. There are clashes with her nymphomaniac mother, who is on her sixth divorce and the reason Andi has sworn off dating. There is peer pressure to start dating and to get her job back, from her best friend of ten years, who may have had a hand in losing the ticket. On this life-changing journey, Andi gets life lessons from her ten-year-old daughter, picks up odd jobs, dabbles in awkward dating attempts, money-making schemes, and a new friendship with an eighty-seven-year-old pot-smoking crackerjack of a woman, Poppi. By the time the 182 days are up, will Andi have found the ticket? More importantly, what else may she have managed to find?
Sara great job! I found myself in a whirlwind of emotions but not overwhelmed, from laughter to tears. Since I live in Baltimore it was fun recognizing some landmarks. This book is very entertaining and I can't wait for next book.
Finding out what is important in life by winning the lottery .... And then losing the ticket.
Some characters written more as thin stereotypes than real characters. Jake, the mother ..... The rich guy .....
Some characters and scenes were terrific! Although even those .... too many characters were too good .... Or too bad. More complexity would have made for a much better book.
I think the author shows promise. A better editor would have helped.
Again, great beginning, but I can't bring myself to recommend it. I wish I had done what I wanted and skimmed to the extremely predictable end and saved a couple of hours of my life.
This was a sweet story that centers on a single mother who loses her winning lottery ticket. Over the course of the story she makes many new friends and grows in character and in her relationships. The ending is a little open ended but it allows you to be creative on your own with the details. Sweet easy read!!
This was a very enjoyable read... It had me anxious, wanting to know if Andi ever found the lottery ticket...I felt sick for her when she/Brigid lost it! And I wish the author had've elaborated more after her & Bear had found the ticket! However, Andi found riches beyond what money can buy...and that made for a great story!

I loved this story! Well written, and developed plot that makes it hard to put down. We all know people that are similar to the main characters. With that said, the ending had me so frustrated! I wanted more detail about what became of everyone.
Basically light reading. A few interesting characters, and lots of awful memories. The main character seemed kind of immature to me. Perhaps younger readers would enjoy it more than I did.
I really liked this book. At first, I wasn't so sure that I'd like Andi. But as the book progressed, I really liked her and her daughter, Rue. I was surprised that I liked this book as much as I did, because usually books that follow the plot of "main character has a crap life, main character has a life changing event, main character has a fabulous life" make me roll my eyes. But I was really interested in this story and I was rooting for Andi the entire time. I'd definitely check this out if you are looking for a fun read that's a bit more serious than usual chick lit.
I enjoyed this story of a single mother who won the lottery, but then lost the ticket before she could cash it. In the process of looking for it, and trying to support herself and her daughter after prematurely quitting her dead-end job, she meets a lot of great people who help her get out of the funk she has been in for the last 10 years. The ending was left open as to the lottery winnings. Despite that I found it a fun and happy read. The only quibble I have is that it could have benefitted from better proof reading.
Finding the Gray is a story where the character goes through some journey of self discovery and changes. The characters in this story were all relatable and their traits help And I (the main character) discover her true self. This was an easy read and a well written story.
I haven't laughed out loud reading a book in a long time...thanks Sara Landers! This book is hilarious yet incredibly moving. Landers brought these characters to life for me and it was simply delightful.
Feel good story for light reading. No deep thoughts here, just fun characters. My only problem with this story was the lack of proofreading. Way too many errors which prevent a smooth read. Great bed time reading!
Thoroughly enjoyable story well-told. The characters are all people we already know and quickly become like old friends. Multiple story lines make a rich reading experience. Very good.
Enjoyed this entertaining story of winning the lottery to then lose the winning ticket. Great read up until the last chapter and felt that I would have liked to know a bit more about what happened next.
I was sure after the first few chapters that this book would be boring. But,once started I was committed to finish. The story really filled out and turned out to be a delightful story.
Really fun little book. It's a great summer read for vacation or just to get lost in a book. A little romance, a little family relationship drama, and the quirky idea of a lost lottery ticket.
