Mangaka, tatuatore e perfino cantante, Taro è un personaggio geniale a tutto tondo, la cui immensa e memorabile carriera è approfondita inoltre nel volume da un ricco apparato critico.

Wrote gekiga 'Half-breed Rika' in Shukan Myojo, which later into movie by Tōei Studios.

I knew nothing of Bonten Taro, but after reading his manga "Badass Babe!, Sex & Fury and Other Stories," I'm now a fan. Taro is obsessed with the world of tattooing as well as Yakuza culture. His stories as themselves are not that brilliant, but the combination of drawing talent and focus on revenge, strong female characters, and the over-the-top violence is a glorious cocktail of delight. He is the Mickey Spillane of the Japanese Manga world. Black Hook Press, out of Japan, did a magnificent job in presenting Bonten's work in this beautiful and pulpy edition.

Questo autore è senza dubbio affascinante e viene voglia di leggere altro. Lo stile è a tratti datato e rozzo ma anche molto adatto a queste storie.

A friend of mine once joked that popular music critics use the word "important" as a code language for "someone you never heard of". I laughed, and he did have a point, but so do the critics. Many of the most important influences to creators are unknowns to the rest of us, and we're all the poorer for it. Manga-ka (and painter, and tattoo artist, and musician, and traveler in yakuza circles, and several other things on top of that) Bonten Taro has until now never had any of his work published in English, but with a résumé like his, he's clearly underexplored territory for Western audiences. This collection is essentially a taster — the best-known work in it, Sex And Fury, is excerpted here in miniature — but a single taste is better than nothing.

Este manga es una recopilación de historias que escribió el mangaka Bonten Taro. a mí gusto es algo totalmente disruptivo y bastante particular por el tipo de historias que aquí se tratan. en la mayoría de las historias hay un toque oscuro y sobretodo que nos habla de mujeres perversas o tatuadas. Algo muy interesante ya que en la sociedad japonesa y asiática los tatuajes son mal vistos.

Aquí los dibujos nos muestran a personajes tatuados en el cuerpo y además toca temas fuertes como el abuso y el ver a las mujeres como objeto. La primera historia que da titulo a este compendio de relatos, nos habla de Ruri una joven tatuadora que el talento de Horigin que perfecciona su estilo y lo plasma en la piel de las personas, algo que la involucrara en algo más turbio.

así mismo tenemos a una mujer llamada Ino Shika Ochou, la cual es una justiciera sangrienta. De ahí El tatuaje de Okei una chica que fue abusada y la única forma de que la dejen en paz es tatuarse todo su cuerpo para que los hombres piensen algo diferente (ser una mujer de los malos. Los otros tres relatos exploran la justicia y el horror como en Escamas , Larvas y Kappa, además del sentido de justicia en el Último Justiciero.

Este abanico de historias , nos presentan un Japón crudo y oculto que muchas veces no se logra ver pero está ahí, los mal llamados barrios rojos, y los barrios del placer así como, estás historias muestran esa cara de Japón que no quieres que vean. Un manga no apto para todos pero fascinante y adictivo a la vez.
