As a child, Oda was inspired by Akira Toriyama's works and aspired to become a manga artist. He recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by the popular TV animation series titled Vicky the Viking. He submitted a character named Pandaman for Yudetamago's classic wrestling manga Kinnikuman. Pandaman was not only used in a chapter of the manga but would later return as a recurring cameo character in Oda's own works.

Chapters 1089-1100
اقا من آدم گیر بده به کیفیت نیستم ، بخصوص برا وان پیس که بیست ساله دارم دنبال میکنم ، و از طرفی درک میکنم مانگا هفتگی چقدر عجله دارن و اینا.
ولی داستانی داره چیزای مهمی میگه، کاش یکم ادیتورهاش تمیز تر و سریع تر مرتب میکردن طرح ها رو.

Esse volume vai dos cap 1089 ao 1100 e começa o ato final do arco de Egghead com bando do chapéu dos chapéus de palha correndo contra o tempo para pegar o doutor Vegapunk e sair da ilha antes que sejam todos mortos esse arco é tão bom que ao mesmo o tempo que te dá um gostinho que o clímax está chegando ele começa a revelar um dos flashback mais emocionantes senão o mais emocionante da obra o passado ex Shichibukai Bartolomeu Kuma conhecido como pacifista e aqui o Oda não teve do ao mostrar uma vida tão sofrida como mó foi a do Kuma em cima mó esse governo mundial é um lixo em todos os sentidos e tudo o que o Kuma fez pela Bonny a filha dele e o significado do nome pacifista dele acabou comigo 😭😭😭 simplesmente incrível mais um ótimo volume de One Piece.

Once again Oda has decided we don't have enough tragic backstories. This time we get the heart breaking background on the one and only Bartholomew Kuma. It's even more interesting because Kuma's role has been sprinkled throughout the story since (i think) chapter 233.
I don't think I'll ever stop being surprised by Oda. He clearly still cares so much for this story, so many years later. The story telling is still consistant, which is incredible after 27 years. Oda always finds a way to put a twist on the story, always finds a way to make me put the newest chapter down and go WHAT IS HAPPENING??
As the Gorosei arrive on Egghead, I can't wait to see how the conflict between the Strawhats and the Saints will end. For a weekly release, I'm still in awe at how well these character ties and backstories fit together. The main thing about One Piece, you never know when a character becomes relevant again and how tragic their backstory will be...lol

Kuma’s backstory is easily on the pedestal of all-timers in One Piece. Can't wait for the next Fave Characters poll to see how high he rises (it’s going to be a massive, massive jump).

an earthquake was felt throughout the world due to the destruction of lulusia. the global sea level rose by 1 meter. shores on islands were gone, some islands were completely gone.
egghead is surrounded by 30,000 marines, headed by 9 vice admirals and admiral kizaru. york called the elders. in actuality, luffy and the rest captured her already. the elders are trying to protect 3 things: physical safety of york, the punk records which consists of vegapunk’s brain, and the power plant needed to product the mother flame.
seraphim hancock melted from luffy’s stare and pleas. hehe
lucci have been telling the marines things even though the straw hat crew (sort of) trusted him to keep the alliance for the time being. sentomaru owed vegapunk his life but kizaru is an uncle figure to him. sentomaru is unconscious, now, the authority chip is with kizaru and he has directed the pacifista squadron to protect the marines. luffy and kizaru have clashed. the robot giant reacted to nika?
vegapunk’s command overwrote kizaru’s command. gorosei (saint saturn) is landing on egghead. he’s the world’s highest authority, one of the five elders. kuma was born a slave, a remnants of a tribe of people that committed a grave crime, the lone survivor of the exterminated buccaneers people. due to his blood, kuma and his parents were enslaved. his mom died shortly after. to keep his spirits up, kuma’s father told him about the sun god, nika, the warrior of legend passed down through the people of buccaneer, the warrior who would save him. he was killed for being “too noisy”, leaving kuma alone.
once every 3 years, there’s a population eradication tournament. in that year, it’s at god valley, a non-world government affiliated country. when kuma tried to escape, he met with emporio ivankov and jinny. the prizes of this tournament are 2 fruits: 1. transform into the mythical “azure dragon” (kaido’s) and 2. the paw-paw fruit which can send others/yourself flying to other islands. jinny broadcasted this news to the outside world so pirates will be swarming in. the rocks pirates, gol d. rogers’ pirates came. kuma managed to get the paw-paw fruit and ate it. saint saturn was there. other than the news of garp and the rocks pirates, nothing else was said about the fight on god valley. however, kuma managed to save himself, jinny, ivankov, and 500 people from the island that day. jinny stayed with kuma while ivankov went off.
17 years old kuma have been relieving sicknesses and pains from the elderly every week. but they all don’t know that the pain needs to go somewhere and he’s been taking in their pain after each session. a few years later, the king of that island wants to enslave people but kuma retaliated. the king then separated the island into two: 1. the castle and the town below = sorbet kingdom, 2. old peoples’ village + kuma’s church = the lawless area
thanks to dragon and ivankov’s intervention, the sorbet kingdom’s king was dethroned and the slave policy abolished. this led to a wave of protests and revolutions around the world in countries with people who no longer wants to be oppressed. the revolutionary army was created.
years later, ginny was captured by a celestial dragon who wanted to make her his bride. they couldn’t find her and a few years later, she called the revolutionary army as her last call. unfortunately, she was going to die.
kuma went back to sorbet kingdom knowing that’s where jinny would go. when he reached there, jinny’s entire face and body turned blue in the sun and her skin hardened like stone. she left her baby in kuma’s care. bonney started growing up and called kuma “dad”.
bonney had a blue stone below her eye, which looked like what was covering jinny’s body when she died. to look after bonney, kuma left the revolutionary army. kuma thinks that it’s because bonney was exposed to the sun. a doctor told kuma that bonney suffers from “sapphire scale,” an incurable disease that grows when exposed to natural light. the sorbet kingdom’s old king came back and is burning down the houses.

kuma’s “one man revolution” stopped the old king and the people wanted him to be king. so he ruled from his church. bonney ate the age-age fruit during this time. knowing that he wouldn’t be able to stay in sorbet kingdom after fighting the previous sorbet kingdom’s king, he left after sinking the king’s ship and became a pirate, leaving bonney behind. on his trips with the revolutionary army, he asked around for a cure for bonney’s sickness but couldn’t find any. at this time, ivankov and inazuma were caught and sent to prison. dragon told kuma about vegapunk and kuma brought bonney there.
vegapunk can cure bonney by doing a stem cell transplant. after finding out that kuma is of buccaneer blood, vegapunk wants to clone kuma. if kuma donates some blood and give vegapunk permission to make his clones into soldiers, bonney’s medical expenses can be waived off. vegapunk’s intentions with these soldiers is for the protection of the weak and for peace, but the world government have other plans.
it’s nice that dragon wouldn’t let anyone take jinny’s old post without kuma’s blessing 😭 also during the few years when he left bonney, he visited the islands that he’ll later send the straw hat crew to. he always had a plan.
the world government talked to kuma: they want kuma to join the shichibukai, he’s to the human weapon for the navy, and he’s to lose his mind and free will (because he was a revolutionary)
kuma agreed because it would save bonney. vegapunk didn’t want to because it means that kuma would be a robot. the world government will take custody of bonney after her treatment and her freedom will be granted when kuma fully lost his free will. kuma’s forbidden from contacting bonney or escaping after the procedure. otherwise, bonney will be turned into a slave. kuma doesn’t want bonney to know about her disease nor that she’s being held hostage. also, that once bonney’s surgery is done, she will be returned back to sorbet kingdom.
6 months later, bonney is sent back to sorbet kingdom, but kuma will be leaving. a cipher pol member, alpha, is to stay behind. that’s the last time the father-daughter duo will meet. the revolutionary army are confused why kuma would work under the government.
kuma’s letter: To Bonney, I am writing to you at sea. It is difficult to travel now, being more famous but I am doing well. How is everyone? While I am travelling the world, I’ll find many places to take you once you’ve turned ten, Bonney.

EGGHEAD ARC - PART 4
1. i can't believe that s-snake is also prey to luffy's charms the same way real boa hancock is
2. there are objectively more pressing matters at hand: the revolutionary army at marijoa's door; akainu having to deal with kuma, who just managed to climb up and who knows how much chaos he will unleash, and during it all, imagine having to deal with some fucktard of a spoiled brat say that they ordered lobster and are offended because there was none. if that isn't absolute reason to just pummel these mfs
3. oh my god, the giant robot is powered through joyboy's drums of liberation
4. kuma belongs to a slave caste, descendants of the buccaneer people, and they have the story of the sun god told throughout their heritage. he is a genuine saint, like- i love kuma, holy fuck, healing all the sick, feeling all the sickness and pain for them, ready to sacrifice body and soul and will to people he hates just so that bonney gets to live. KUMAAAAAA, i am so sad about this. the kind and gentle giant that you are
5. also god valley is finally explained a little bit more with the stupid celestial dragons hosting a native hunting competition, the rocks crew crashing the party for the devil fruit prizes- and if roger is going, so is garp to finally catch him (ALSO ROGER WHEN HE WAS YOUNG AWOOOOOOGA WOOF WOFO WOFOW OFOOWF OWOFO WOOOF)

In this volume we get Kuma’s backstory and man I cried man. Overall this was a great volume and I enjoyed it very much! Can't wait to read more!!

All right, everyone, buckle up! We’ve got worldwide sea level rise, hundreds of marine ships poised to attack our heroes on Egghead Island, and a new (or perhaps I should say latent) set of antagonists who travel by pentagram! But this is still 'One Piece' and so there's still plenty of funny moments.
It was hilarious that when at the end of last volume and squares up to fight the Straw Hats…Oda (who normally shows EVERY detail of EVERY fight) just cuts away to all the admirals acting tense and then cuts back to show Oda’s just like: “C’mon, you knew this was going to be no contest!”
And Rob Lucci still thinking he’s a top-level boss for the StrawHats? Step aside, pussycat – you’re just being annoying now!
And Seraphim Hancock still ? Did you do that on purpose, Vegapunk? Because otherwise that is a ridiculous design flaw!
Also, I love it when Nami gets as fiery-looking as Sanji anytime anyone looks sideways at Robin. Even though Robin’s far stronger, she’s like: “You BETTER not be bringing up my roomies’ trauma! I will beat you to death and rob your corpse!”
Speaking of Sanji, I was convinced by Punk Hazard that he has a soft spot for dads who care about their kids (unlike HIS bio dad!) and vice versa, but his interactions with Bonney just reinforce that!
“(Rescuing her from a Pacifista laser blast): Bonney-chan! You can’t let yourself freeze up like that!...They told me about Kuma being your dad! I get it, but you’ve gotta keep a cool head!”
Also reassuring to look back and realize he’s never hit on Bonney, since we’ve just discovered the age-shifting pirate captain is twelve! Sanji does actually have good instincts for avoiding the over-the-top simping and heart eyes when things are serious, but nice to see (as we kinda did already with Osome in Wano) that he can avoid it altogether when it would be REALLY out of place!
Perhaps the real warning should be: Grab your tissues for the Kuma and Bonney backstory flashback, because this shit gets SAD!
In brief: We see how he met Iva () and got involved with the Revolutionary Army. And we meet Ginny. Which you already know is going to be sad, because A) Ginny is smart and charming and fierce but B) where is she now? OOF: I mean, if anyone didn’t understand what it meant that Hancock got enslaved and came out with Medusa powers and a hatred of men specifically…
Anyway, Well, desperation makes us do strange things, I suppose…

yeah... kuma backstory sure does have that OOMF to it. seeing how literlaly his entire life has been hell besides the small moments of joy that soon get ripped away and become even wrose problems for him to deal with. but he just... smiles and keeps on trying to find a way to live on. La primera mitad es un hype absoluto. En pocas palabras: La venganza por Sabaody. Kizaru, Sentomaru, los Mugiwaras en un arco tan maravilloso como lo esta siendo Egghead. La revelación de Saturno, el pasado conjunto de Vegapunk, Sentomaru y Kizaru, mas detalles sobre el incidente de God Valley, Figarland Gatling (por favor que ya digan que Shanks es su hijo/nieto). Mejor dicho, de todo.
Oda podria no haber hecho lo que comprende la segunda mitad de este volumen, pero lo hizo, Oda lo hizo: Uno de los mejores flashbacks de la historia y fue para un personaje secundario. 7 capitulos le tomo a Oda para formar a Kuma, nuestro bonachon y enigmatico personaje, en uno de los personajes con el pasado e historia mas trágica de todo One Piece. Lo vimos crecer, vivir, perder y amar, lo vimos como esclavo, como un revolucionario, como un pirata, pero sobre todo, con fe sobre el futuro que, tristemente nunca podrá ver.
Kuma fue ese personaje que odiamos por desarrollar a los Mugiwaras a las malas, que empezamos a dudar cuando le comentó a Rayleigh sobre su misión, quisimos quererlo cuando los revolucionarios sacrificaron todo para recuperarlo y muchisimos momentos mas pero es ahora, con sus verdaderos motivos, con la verdad vista a traves de sus ojos, que Kuma se ha convertido en un masterclass de tener una subtrama.
God-tier de volumen para terminar el año y colocando la barra aún mas alto para los volumenes que se vienen en 2024.

Lulusia Kingdom's destruction causing earthquakes around the world. Lulusia Kingdom was erased from the map and left only a big hole in the middle of the ocean. Sea level was rised by 1 meter. Marines forces consists of 30,000 personnel and led by 9 vice admirals and Admiral Kizaru have surrounded Egghead. A Gorosei, Saint Jay Garcia Saturn was also on the warship.
York have been captured by the Straw Hat Pirates. Dr. Vegapunk will escape with Straw Hat Pirates and head to Elbaf. Sentoumaru still have the authority to give command to the Seraphims and Pacifistas. Admiral Kizaru passed through the protection dome and fight Sentoumaru. Sentoumaru was defeated. Lucci and Kaku fight Straw Hat Pirates. Kaku was restrained by Sanji's bubble and Zoro fights Lucci. Luffy fights Admiral Kizaru one by one. Luffy used Gear 5.
Atlas give order to Pacifistas and Seraphims to eradicate all the Marines on Egghead. Saint Jay Garcia Saturn arrived at Egghead using magic circle. He commands the Pacifistas to cease all actions. Saint Saturn appearances were like spider and bull. Luffy managed to beat off Admiral Kizaru. Both of them lying worn off.
Bonney stabs Saint Saturn but he rapidly healed. Bonney wants to avenge his father. 47 years ago, Kuma was born in Sorbet Kingdom with a blood from Buccaneer race. World Government agents came and kidnapped him and his father to be a slave for Tenryuubito. His father always to about Sun God Nika who will set them free.
38 years ago, World Government has annexed God Valley to hold a human hunt activity for Tenryuubito. Tenryuubitos and God's Knights participated in the hunt to kill all 100,000 civilizians. Kuma meet Emporio Ivankov and Ginny. They planned to escape using the prizes; Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu and Nikyu Nikyu no Mi. Ginny sends information about the devil fruits around the world. Many pirates come to God Valley for the devil fruits including Rocks Pirates and Roger Pirates. Vice Admiral Garp also come for the reinforcements.
Iva and Kuma managed to get the devil fruits. Big Mom snatched the Uo Uo no Mi from Iva and that's how Kaido get the power of azure dragon. Kuma ate the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi anad managed to save 500 lives of God Valley civilians. Iva left for the sea and Kuma and Ginny live together in Sorbet Kingdom. 30 years ago, Kuma works as pastor and help the civilians to get rid of their illness using their power. Sorbet Kingdom was burdened with cold hearted King Becori who prioritize to pay celestial tribute to Tenryubito.
25 years ago, Ginny asked to marry Kuma. Kuma started to idolize Dragon for helping people around the world. 22 years ago, King Becor started to enslaving the sourthern people of Sorbet Kingdom. Kuma was inprisoned along with Ginny and others. The Revolutionary Army comes and overthrown King Becori. Kuma and Ginny was recruited to join them. 14 years ago, Ginny was a captain of the eastern forces. She was captured and forced to marry the Tenryuubito. 2 years after that, the Tenryuubito expelled her after she had an illness and died. She have a daughter named Bonney and Kuma took care of her. 7 years ago, Kuma was quitting the Revolutionary Army to look for Bonney as she have a same disease as her mother. Bonney's illness is incurable and she have only 5 years before she died.
6 years ago, King Becori came again at Sorbet Kingdom and he burned down the southern province. Kuma overthrown King Becori he was crowned as the king of Sorbet Kingdom. King Becori's propaganda have titled Kuma as a evil tyrant who took the throne by forced. King Becori came again to Sorbet Kingdom with an armada of Marines. Kuma sunk all the armadas. Kuma then become a pirate and traveled around to world to find a cure for Bonney. Dragon suggested Kuma to ask for Dr. Vegapunk's help. Dr. Vegapunk wants Kuma's blood to use it for making a cyborg called Pacifistas. Kuma and Dr. Vegapunk shared the same ideology of peace and help the weak.
The World Government put a condition to Kuma; Kuma must become Shichibukai, he must let World Government to modify his body and become a cyborg, and Kuma must give up his free will and his sense of individuality. Kuma agreed and Bonney's treatment need one and a half year. Kuma's modification need two years. After Bonney's treatment is done, she will under World Government's overseer as a leverage. Kuma officially become a Shichibukai.

Almost all caught up with the English releases of the One Piece volumes. It feels like I’m back in middle school again waiting for the piece meal releases of Oda Sensei’s work at this moment. Feels good being in the Final Saga but man the wait is going to be tough as we get close(?) to the story’s climax and ending. Half of the volume was the continued fights at Egghead which had some cool moments like Luffy in Sun God Mode doing a rematch against Admiral Kizaru and seeing St Jaygarcia in his monstrous bull-crab form. The bulk of the Volume though is devoted to Kuma’s backstory and Bonney’s childhood. Its a One Piece backstory so you better believe that Oda Sensei went all out on making Kuma’s childhood and years in the Revolutionary Army, raising Bonney, becoming a Warlord, etc. heartwarming and tragic. Alot of its standard tragic things (i.e., Bonnie’s sickness) or enraging things (the Celestial Dragons being their usual shitty selves, the details of Kuma’s deal with the Elders). And the volume does leave some things unanswered (what happened in God Valley with Garp, Rogers, etc. while Kuma was out) before hitting the end. But still high quality work here as the pieces of this mysterious figure’s life start falling into place.
Lot to enjoy with this volume and 109 did just come out this week so maybe I won’t have too long to wait for the rest of Kuma’s backstory.

I FKING HATE THESE CELESTIAL DRAGONS SO MUCH. If these pieces of sh!ts don't meet a gruesome end I'll fking flip. There are 7 forms of evil and the celestial dragons somehow manage to unite them all into one.
Plus isn't this the incident where Roger pirates and Garp fought together against Rock pirates and I'm guessing even the celestial BS that's happening on that island?
The reason the media only reported that Garp is the one who stopped The rock pirates to make the Navy looks good as always and No mentioning of the hideous play that's been happening on that place. Thinking back now, no wonder garp doesn't like talking about the god valley incident. How do you tell people that the so-called celestial dragons are hunting down native as sport? How do you tell people that you have to work together with your sworn enemy to save those very scum of the earth.
AND OMG GLORIOSA IS THT OBAA-SAN AT AMAZON LILY SHE WAS SO PRETTY.
I know Vegapunk is a genius but I feel like he never truly thinks about the consequences of his inventions:/

i'm finally caught up with one piece again. i usually let the series pile up for a year (around 40 chapters) before i binge to catch up, but it's so amazing right now that i'm not sure i can pull off that waiting game this time around. oda never ceases to deliver, it's mind-blowing!
