Growing up in Hastings, Pennsylvania, I was called Ruth. I became Mary when I entered the business world where first names were the order of the day. To this day, family and friends call me Dink, a name my father gave me when I was born because according to him I was ‘a dinky little thing’ weighing in at four and a half pounds. However, I answer to Fern since people are more comfortable with a name they can pronounce.
As they say, the past is prologue. I grew up, got a job, got married, had five kids. When my youngest went off to Kindergarten, my husband told me to get off my ass and get a job. Those were his exact words. I didn’t know how to do anything except be a wife and mother. I was also a voracious reader having cut my teeth on The Bobbsey Twins, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, Cherry Ames and the like. The library was a magical place for me. It still is to this day. Rather than face the outside world with no skills, I decided to write a book. For some reason that didn’t intimidate me. As my husband said at the time, stupid is as stupid does. Guess what, I don’t have that husband any more. Guess what else! I wrote 99 books, most of them New York Times Best Sellers.
Moving right along here . . . Several years ago I left Ballantine Books, parted company with my agent, sold my house in New Jersey that I had lived in all my married life and in 1993 moved to South Carolina. I figured if I was going to go through trauma let it be all at one time. It was a breeze. The kids were all on their own at that point. The dump was a 300 year old plantation house that is listed in the National Registry that I remodeled. Today it is beyond belief as are the gardens and the equally old Angel Oaks that drip Spanish moss. Unfortunately, I could not get my ghost to relocate. This ghost has been documented by previous owners. Mary Margaret as we call her, is “a friendly”. She is also mischievous. It took me two weeks to figure out that she didn’t like my coffee cups. They would slide off the table or counter or else they’d break in the dishwasher. I bought red checkered ones. All are intact as of this writing. She moves pillows from one room to the other and she stops all the clocks in the house at 9:10 in the a.m. at least once a week. When the Azaleas are in bloom, and only then, I find blooms on my night stand. I have this glorious front porch and during the warm months I see my swing moving early in the morning when the air is still and again late in the day. She doesn’t spook the dogs. I always know when she’s around because the five of them line up and look like they’re at a tennis match. As of this writing we’re co-habiting nicely.
Most writers love what they do and I’m no exception. I love it when I get a germ of an idea and get it down on paper. I love breathing life into my characters. I love writing about women who persevere and prevail because that’s what I had to do to get to this point in time. It’s another way of saying it doesn’t matter where you’ve been, what matters is where you’re going and how you get there. The day I finally prevailed was the day I was inducted into the New Jersey Literary Hall of Fame. For me it was an awesome day and there are no words to describe it.
I’ve been telling stories and scribbling for 37 years. I hope I can continue for another 37 years. It wasn’t easy during some of those years. As I said, I had to persevere. My old Polish grandmother said something to me when I was little that I never forgot. She said when God is good to you, you have to give back. For a while I didn’t know how to do that. When I finally figured it out I set up The Fern Michaels® Foundation.

The third part of author Fern Michaels' THE MEN OF THE SISTERHOOD serial. An exciting romantic suspense that will keep you glued to the pages! Taken from my review at RomanceJunkies.com:
It is Christmastime and Jack Emery is preparing a feast for his comrades in BOLO, a group of men emotionally tied to the Sisterhood who seek their own kind of vigilante justice. With their high connections, unlimited funds and state-of the art equipment, they work under the radar and have little problem with their own brand of retribution.
Meanwhile, Jack’s wife, Niki, an attorney with her own firm, is traveling to a funeral after the death of a client’s young daughter, who had been on a new drug. Niki is handling a class-action lawsuit against Andover Pharmaceuticals, who are manufacturing a drug which is supposed to save the lives of children with leukemia, like the young girl who just died. Instead, it seems to be hastening their deaths. However, the owners of Andover Pharmaceuticals are wealthy and well-connected, so Niki is having a problem with finding justice for the victims and she is beginning to lose hope.
Jack and his fellow vigilantes have just completed a mission against some corrupt slumlords. Now, with Niki out of state, Jack and his crew are ready to take on a new mission against Andover Pharmaceuticals. As they set out to provide the Andovers with their own taste of medicine, Bolo is under time constraints. Niki is making her way home and the mission must be completed before she discovers their involvement in it. Suspense-filled, TAKE DOWN, the third part of author Fern Michaels’ THE MEN OF THE SISTERHOOD serial, is an exciting, edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense that will keep you enthralled. The men and the women of the Sisterhood are still working out their personal differences at being separated so much, but right now they have to concentrate on stopping the company that is killing off children with their new drug. What better time to do it than right at Christmas. With glitches, such as the bad weather, thrown in, Jack and his crew must stay on their toes as they battle a powerful foe.
Complex, well-drawn characters, a captivating plot, unscrupulous villains that you can’t help hating, plenty of action and escalating suspense, combined with a bit of romance, make this story an absolute delight. After reading all three parts of this serial, I hated to see it end. I really enjoyed the entire serial and can’t wait to see what Ms. Michaels comes up with next. This story is not a standalone. For all the dynamics and backstory behind BOLO, readers need to first read UPSIDE DOWN and COUNTDOWN, in that order, before reading TAKE DOWN since it is a continuing saga.

Once again, Fern Michaels has provided a book to her readers who can suspend belief and who will disregard any consequences for actions by the men of this small group. In this book, the third in her new series about the men or significant others in the lives of the well-known sisterhood vigilantes, the men go after a big pharma company who have developed a drug for combat leukemia that has resulted in several deaths. It is no coincidence that this is the same company that hack’s wife Nikki and her law firm are going after with a class action suit. How the guys decide to go after the company and put them out of business while still helping the victims of the bad drug makes for an interesting, if somewhat unbelievable tale. However, the reader of this book is probably used to this, as the actions resemble those of the sisterhood vigilantes. One thing I never will fully understand is why they insist on so much privacy from their significant other halfs, as these same women did much the same and the men mostly knew about their actions. However, they insist on secrecy. Only one woman, Maggie, the Post editor, had joined their ranks. I thought it very interesting that the significant other of the make-up sisterhood member who used to somehow miraculously transform the sisterhood members in new, unrecognizable persons, also took on this job for the guys. This book is better than the second in the series, which is even better than the first (which I really did not even like). However, the storyline and their antics defy belief—just like those of the sisterhood did in that series. If you are looking for a book that joins fantasy elements with a somewhat clouded reality then this is the book for you—or if you want to continue to read about sisterhood types adventures. As I said, this book is better than the other two, and it is starting to look like Fern Michaels has gotten her sisterhood type groove back, though, like the sisterhood series, they provide escape from life’s reality. Sometimes, this is just what I need after sloughing through the many books about great escapades. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.

Take Down is number 3 in the "Men of the Sisterhood) series and it's another quick but short read. These books almost feel like novellas and as if Fern Michaels is just testing the waters to see how readers/fans respond. I enjoyed this read, another continuation of the previous book. The guys have to put their plan into action to assist Nikki and Alexis with the take down of Andover Pharmaceuticals. Nikki is handling the class-action lawsuit filed by the victims of a bad leukemia drug that's destroying the children it's meant to help. Jack and the guys have taken it upon themselves to take up this mission around Christmas because Nikki is losing hope that her firm can win but they don't want to sisters to know. The plot was interesting and there's some funny parts with Jack's dog, Cyrus and funnier parts with Maggie doling out the punishments. Very enjoyable but it seems the guys are not as thorough planning their missions as the Sisters and needed some help from Maggie.

Read this and the second book in the series, Countdown, which for some reason is not on goodreads, and was again a little disappointed. Th e three books could have been one, or gone into a lot more detail like the sisterhood series. There was just something missing and d I think it was the idea that they could be caught. It was over too quick.

A fine finish to this short (3 novella) story. I loved every word! I wonder if the author is taking the Sisterhood in a new direction? If you love the Sisterhood novels, you will love the Guys of the Sisterhood, too!

A definite page turner! Jack and his "colleagues" find their own way to ensure justice and revenge in a world that sometimes caters to money and big businesses rather than protecting the innocent children who need it most.

Not the best. I don't like it when they take 3 short stories and divide it into 3 books. This could have been one book as it should have been. Then inbetween they would put exerpts of the Sisterhood series got very confusing and I had trouble finding the continuation of the Men of the Sisterhood Series. It ruined it for me. I will try to make sure I don't get anymore of this type again. The story would have been fine and enjoyable if they had put it in one book.

Another great book in this series by Fern Michaels and the men of the sisterhood. The men have decided to help Nicki with a company who produced a medicine to supposedly cure lukemia in children only to have too many kids die from taking this medication. Great story!
The men are continuing their task by taking down a drug company responsible for creating a cancer drug that has now killed at least 12 children. With Nikki and Alexis working night and day trying to close them down from ever hurting another person again, the men take different measures of justice.

Then it is time to teach the Sandfords and Marks that Karma can bite you in the butt.
This is the second book in a three book series. It has a cliff hanger and cannot be read as a standalone. The great news is you won't care; because you will be picking up book three Take Down as soon as you finish Countdown. This series is written so well you want to find a quiet corner to savor the books undisturbed. The books are done in true Fern Michaels style with strong characters and a storyline that will grab and hold you. I have enjoyed reading about the men of the women of the sisterhood and hope Ms. Michaels has plans for future books featuring them and their other cases at BOLO. I would like to buy them as one story so can enjoy them all at one time, but if not I will purchase them as serials if that is how they come.

These books are quick and fun reads. I enjoy them as much as I do reading about The Sisterhood adventures. I believe everyone needs a little story of someone helping out the down and out and bringing justice to the wealthy who care so little about them. I am looking forward to reading the next one in this series.

With respect to the other two books in this series, I have to say that this one was the best of the bunch. I think this series might have been better served if it was put into a sort of bind-up that publishers do when sticking all stories into one book. I think this would have made a lot more sense that way. I know that since I was not familiar with the Sisterhood series, of which this is a spin-off, I had a heck of a time getting up to speed with everything in the beginning.
I like how book two and three focused more on Jack Emery and how he was taking charge of this new business and what he was putting into place to help his wife (and the wives of a few other Men of the Sisterhood) get a couple of the court cases they were working on to come to a good conclusion. This series reminds me of the show Leverage where a group of people come in and pretty much force the bad guys to do good even when they don't want to.
Book three made up for the slowness of books one and two and I found myself really looking forward to what the outcome would be. Was I the only one that kept seeing Aaron Hotchner from Criminal Minds as Jack Emery? In my mind that is who I visualized when reading this series.
This was a fun ride even with the slow places in the plot.

This was my favourite one of the series so far- I'm getting used to the characters. This one is set just after the last one finishes- on the lead up to Christmas. Jack is planning to serve a Christmas meal for 'all the lads' at his house.
His partner, Nikki, has been dealing with a lawsuit against Andover Pharmaceuticals. They had produced a new Leukemia drug that promised to save children's lives. But it had the opposite effect. The 3 owners of Andover are opposing the lawsuit and have billions of pounds from the profits of the company to fight it.
The Men of the Sisterhood decide that they need to step in and make sure that the case is settled and that all the families get closure.
I love the dog in this series- he provides a more empathetic feel to the book- that the men have that softer side- and the work is purely their way of putting the world to rights.

Two missions for Justice!
The Men are reaching their strides. This time they take on two causes – a bonus for this book. Please note this is the third part of The Men of the Sisterhood series. Well written and fast paced. Justice is achieved at any cost – Take Down seems a bit soft in how the men met out well deserved punishments. Each of the parts is truly a segment of one book broken into three parts. You will absolutely want to have all three books next to you because none could stand alone. Having read all of the Sisterhood books Take Down brings wonderful holiday cheer and ends on a happy note! This is a great take off from the Sisterhood series that allows their men to shine. In this book, the men take on a horrible drug company that sells their medications knowing that they kill children. The men cannot allow that to stand and craft a "solution" that will help those injured. They are as creative and crafty as their women. An entertaining novel that allows us to see good triumph over evil. I would recommend this book to all Fern Micheals' fans. You will enjoy it even if you haven't read the Sisterhood, but it is so good that you'll want to read them all.
