Imaginative and Unique

Evie’s mum and dad disappeared years ago both presumed dead. Now as a teenager she is being looked after by her guardian Aaron. She fears she is going crazy after suffering some terrible hallucinations where she wakes up in strange worlds inhabited by giant spiders, flying women or gargoyle like monsters. It becomes quickly apparent that these are not hallucinations and there are people like her. Evie learns she is a Naquant a person who is capable of travelling the net, a network of paths between different worlds that expands the whole universe. But there is a shadowy organisation after her for there own nefarious means. With the help of her new friends she was evade them and destroy Lifonet. Along the way she discovers some startling information regarding her mum and dad and they may not be as dead as she first thought. This is an excellent and imaginative read and the writing has a breathtakingly fast pace. This is aimed at YA but 38 year oldadults like myself can appreciate the intricate writing as well. I definitely recommend this.

An impressive debut novel

Although it's a long time since I've been young I enjoy science fiction and dystopian novels aimed at younger readers as I find they have interesting plots and are less violent and bleak than most literature of this genre. Deborah's debut novel was no exception.
An interesting and original plot and I loved the fast pace of the narrative, which makes it feel like the events are happening in real time.
I look forward to reading the sequel.

Gripping and multi-layored

This story is high paced and thrilling, mysterious. After Reading you can’t help but reflecting about the choices the characters make. So there’s a layer added to this story I like very much. Well done!

CONNECTED – Deborah Nock

A thoroughly enjoyable read; more in the fantasy genre than science fiction but it does have elements of both. I loved how in the beginning it sent the message that all creatures, no matter how scary or revolting, play their part in the universe. Interfering with one species caused imbalance and problems elsewhere in this story.

Fast-paced and imaginative, this book took me to places far beyond my imagination. I was rooting for the heroine Evie right up to the end but was a little frustrated when, despite knowing the bad guy could trace her and was coming for her, she calmly went looking for her stepfather for a chat instead of leaving. Other than that, I found it a gripping, adventurous story that grabbed me and wouldn’t let go until I’d finished it. Thank you author for an absorbing few hours of fantasy. A great debut!

A Great Sci-fi for younger readers

This is a very well written and interesting sci fi that would be particularly good for younger readers (age 10 and up) who are particularly fascinated with things like portal travel and computers. It has engaging characters and plenty of action for older readers too!
