The feminists voice is too loud. It's deafening. I have a really hard time to finish it. Besides that, I have never feel oppressed. My father, brothers and husband never asert their power on me. I am free to do anything and make my own choice. Thus, I can't relate to the message.

“As she walks pass the ruins of men,
heavens form beneath her feet,
from destruction comes life,
from the death comes beauty.
She has been here all along,
With different name and different reincarnation,
with the same power and manisfestation,
from Bhumi, Dewi Sri, To Gaia and Terra.
All part of life, part of nature, part of her.
- Heaven beneath her feet by Tahir Rawther

I believe this is a good introduction on feminism subject in the context of Malaysian society. It is simple - but concisely pointed out which things need to be corrected (rape culture, victim blaming in the society, body autonomy , consent and body shaming) and at the same time, still aligned with core idea of what feminism stands both theoretically and practically (fighting equality for both genders , resisting misogyny and dismantling patriarchy). The V is a collection of articles, poetry and stories that emphasized on what its like of being a woman (but this book does not exclude men as well) - hence the subject is pretty diverse in terms of what its like having a V or at least seeing others live day by day with the V. It may not be detailed like ‘Vagina Monologue by Eve Ensler’ but it did provide insights and crucial information to Malaysian women. Overall, this is pretty solid collection. I would have give this book 4 out of 5 but i was being let down by the story “Kau Wanita, Jagalah dirimu!” by Asmar Shah. I failed to understand this story - what is the points of listing all the punishment that women will go through in hell in the story? And the worst part is “seburuk manapun suami itu, syurga tetap berada di telapak kakinya”. This is just another reason to subject women especially those who have become wives to tolerate the abuse and endure the inhumane treatment of their husband as doing so, heaven will be theirs. This story should never ever be part of the anthology. I hope editor take note on this part. Other than this story, i would say this anthology is quite solid. My favorite articles/stories/poems in this book :
1. Asking for it : Islam, rape and women’s right by Tahir Rawther
2. Feminism : Good for the guys too by Wan Stephanie Aishah
3. In his captivitu by Qiez Medusa Ar
4. Emancipation of woman - aftermath and conclusions : A probable point of view by Tony Kraja.
5. Do you have the V? by Wan Stephanie Aishah.
In a way, i did wish i read this book when i am in my 20s. It will help me greatly in asserting my voice and space among these entitled men. Unfortunately, nothing much has changed either after 10 years. I am now 32 years old Malaysian Muslim Woman. Being a muslim and at the same time, proudly claimed that i am feminist subjected me to countless times which i have been mansplained by “Holier than thou Men”that Islam has given me all the rights that i should not labelled myself as feminist as it is the western idea. Yet these are the same men that will beat, berated, abused and called you names when you dared to object them. Thus, the fight to dismantle patriarchy is long and treacherous. Along the way, we will find women that also uphold patriarchy because they were not aware of it - we came across women who claimed that oppression of other women did not happen because she herself never saw it and she herself not being oppressed hence it did not exist / women who always felt that other women has a choice / rights or privileges to do other things / get out of certain situations/ women who put down other women in order to lift up herself / another women/ the worst of them all, women who did victim blaming.
