Books 4, 5, & 6 in the Ridgeville series are now bundled together! This book contains the following novellas in the Ridgeville series: "Head Over Tail", "Fierce in Fur", and "Deuces Wild". If you already own these books, please do not purchase this title.
*** "Head Over Tail" - Being kidnapped sucks...but then you find your mate... Maddy Lane did not enjoy the whole "being kidnapped" thing. Then her knight in tight leather showed up to rescue her lioness-y ass and he turned out to be her O-M-G mate. Rawr. *** "Fierce in Fur" - Elise really did love her family. Mostly. Except they just wouldn't leave her the heck alone. Which was why she got the hell out of Dodge and headed to the one place she knew she'd feel more herself and less cotton-y: Ridgeville. There, her life took a turn for the O-M-G-Awesome when she stumbled across her mate. Did she mention he was over six feet of lickaliciousness? *** "Deuces Wild" - Squirrel shifter Elly has been captured by Freedom, beaten, and then handed off to be raped. Only her new hotter-than-hell jailor, Deuce Pierce, isn't keen on forcing her and is all about saving her curvy, furry ass and getting her to safety. After she's freed, she can't forget about the lion who saved her life, and she hunts for him, determined to find the man who haunts her.
2 1/2 - 3 stars Again I love that a curvaceous women is the ideal in this series. These books were fairly short but even so, there's very little real/deep emotion between MC's. The leads issues seemed too easily understood & overcome, this can only be somewhat explained by the length of the story. Unfortunately the more you read of the series the more you realise that the characters are interchangeable along gender lines. But overall the series stories are fairly witty & sexy with light erotica & a touch of shape-shifter paranormal romance & should be enjoyed as such.
"Head Over Tail" This story started with a kidnapping & contained talk of all forms of abuse, but once this situation is rectified the story becomes much lighter. PS way too many Maya-isms.
"Fierce in Fur" This story's female MC was in bk 4 as a kidnapped 'fox' who was a victim of all forms of abuse. I really loved Brute, I esp liked how mystified/helpless he became when dealing with his sisters . Can't wait to read the book featuring his youngest sister Emma.
"Deuces Wild" The darker issues of an abusive family, rape aligations, violence etc are only lightly gone over & overcome too easily with very little emotional consequence.
I have owned and read all of these books for ages. I have not laughed or smirked so much in my life. They are a great, fun read with sassy, smart ladies and uber hot alpha men and vice versa. Lots of hot sex and silliness with a good background story. This series improves as it goes on. HEAD OVER TAIL 03 - I loved Maddison and her badass lessons. Loved that the timid, sensitive lioness gets Ricker, the baddest of the bad for a mate. Great story with some really sad bits. RIDGEVILLE 04 - FIERCE IN FUR TITLE – Just loved this story It is so much fun to re-join these crazy characters. This time it is Brutus’s turn for the mating bug to bite. His mate is Elise, the sensitive Fox shifter brutalised by the Freedom ratbags. I really loved how gentle Brutus was with Elise and how he protected her. I so wanted to weep for Elise but what a woman, strong, strong, strong. She so deserved Brutus for a mate. Elise is a survivor and one of the bravest women I have read about. She was shattered but determined to put herself together again so Freedom did not win. This story made me laugh at the carrying ons and cry when the depravity that had hurt Elise resurfaced. These can be read as standalone books but if you have not read any of the Ridgeville series, do yourself a favour and start at the beginning. RIDGEVILLE 05 - DEUCES WILD. TITLE - Another good read from this author. Loved Elly. Elly is a squirrel shifter, yep you read right, a squirrel, how fab and what a kick ass, take no prisoners lady with some serious bad moves. Kidnapped. Saved by an undercover shifter who happens to be her mate but she has a stinking cold so doesn’t realise this fact. This leads to a massive complication further in the book. Deuce we know for being picked on for his drinking of light beer. We get to learn why in this story. I understood the reasoning for keeping Ellie and Deuce apart but why would nobody listen. In this book a lot happens re Freedom and things are as crazy as normal in the pride, who get quite a few new interesting members. I am saying no more or it will be spoilt. This can be read as a standalone book but if you have not read any of the Ridgeville series, do yourself a favour and start at the beginning.
I absolutely love this series. This volume is especially good as it contains, IMHO, three of the strongest books of the series so far.
There is some dark subject matter in this volume, specifically rape, however it is handled extremely well. Considering how tongue-in-cheek this series is, that is no mean feat, so kudos to the writer for it.
This volume, as ever, contains many 'isms which are chuckletastic, along with the brilliant one-liners we've come to expect.
Part of the appeal of this series is the variety of shifter species, in this volume you get a fox with a lion, a squirrel with a lion. I did have a good chuckle at the line about the rabbit riding on the back of a lion for the moonlight run, genius.
Whilst the series as a whole is quite lighthearted and what I call feel good books, there is more depth to the stories here. And I bloody love them all even more for it.
Bottomline buy this volume, you won't be disappointed.
After reading Ridgeville Series: Volume One I was really excited about getting stuck in to the second volume. However this one seriously disappointed me. What was cute and quirky fast became rehashed nonsense. I couldn't wait to finish it.
Usually when I work my way through a collection I tend to see growth from the characters or at least a visible line defining one situation from the other. This clearly was not the case. Besides if the sex scenes, or praying for sex scenes were removed what would we have?
Don't get me wrong, I would probably still look at other work written by Celia Kyle but for me, The Ridgeville series is done.
I'm really enjoying this series. It's humorous and sexy with some crazy situations thrown in. I do wish the individual stories were longer though, I think the longest so far was a little over 100 pages.
I think if I had to compare this to another series it would be the most like Shelley Laurenston's shifter series. Not quite as funny but definitely as quirky! With some interesting relationships and strong women.
This series is entertaining. I can't wait for the next book! I don't write a lot of reviews and when I do I don't give out any spoilers... you just to take my word for it.
My title will make more sense once you've read the exploits of Ridgeville's finest and tastiest shifters. Brilliant stories, hot and hilarious. Going to read more of Celia Kyle's work.
These were so good I didn't want them to end. I love books by this author, extreme excitement, lovemaking and kick ass alphas. Definitely recommend reading.
These stories were awesome. I loved all three of them. The characters were funny and exciting. I love the witticisms of Maya and the others. Truly wonderful.
