Revenge consumes the Highlander’s thoughts… until he meets the healer.
Shade is a dedicated healer focused solely on gaining as much knowledge as possible to help those suffering and in need. Living in the heart of the woods, people come from all around to seek her help. Consumed with her work, she has had no time to find a husband and at twenty and six years most believe she is past her prime. She tells herself to pay no heed to gossiping tongues but when she is alone at night she wonders if solitude will continue to be her only companion.
Quint arrives at her cottage one day with a wound that needs her skills. It is obvious that he is a seasoned warrior, various healed scars on his body attesting to it. His injury requires him to remain at her cottage for at least a few days and she finds she quite enjoys having him there. It does not take long for her to find what she never thought she would or for Quint to rediscover what he lost… love.
But Quint is harboring a secret, one that could possibly destroy the happiness both have finally found. When Shade receives a desperate message from her best friend at Clan MacLeish for help, she has no choice but to go. Quint refuses to let her make the journey alone and unprotected, and he refuses to lose her. So, they wed.
Surprise and shock fill Shade’s wedding day when she discovers Quint’s true identity. He is the ruthless warrior known as The Monk and he is on a mission of revenge. He will not rest until he slaughters everyone responsible, whoever they may be.
What Quint does not know is that Shade is one of those people.
Read: 12/7/24 3.5 stars! It's an interesting story. A highly skilled assassin bent on revenge for his wife's death, mets his match with the kind healer who patches him up. The h brings a healing kindness to his life. Unfortunately, there's a war erupting, and his past is catching up to him. He is also being hunted, and anyone can be the killer.
For the most part, I enjoyed this story! The ending dragged a little. This story is more serious than a lot of DF books.
Another great read by Donna Fletcher, and an excellent start to her newest trilogy. Donna is my favorite author when it comes to historical romances, and this book definitely doesn't disappoint.
To start, the MCs: Shade, the heroine, is a bit different from most heroines in historical romances in that she's 26, rather than being in the more typical age range of 17-22. This gives our heroine a sense of wisdom and maturity that is often missing from other younger heroine's due to their life experience. She's a gentle, intelligent, and courageous woman, as well as being a very skilled healer. Part of what allows her to be such a skilled healer is a touch of the paranormal.
(Which I find is common in a lot of historical romances. And I always enjoy that little hint of the unusual in stories that can't be classified as being a paranormal romance.)
Quint: Our hero is a good but heartbroken and troubled man bent on revenge. He's also intelligent and has the capacity to love fiercely. And, of course, he's also a very skilled warrior with a fearsome reputation.
So what happens when a healer who's forced herself to be content with her solitary life, though she still battles the loneliness that plagues her, knowing she'll likely never marry or have children, and a strong, protective warrior seeking revenge on the men responsible for the death of his beloved wife, come together at a beautiful cottage deep in the woods?
Well, you'll just have to read the book to find out. 😉 But I will say that the story is filled with love, suspense, action, mystery, and just that hint of the paranormal that I mentioned earlier. And while the book does end with an HEA, the story is far from over. And that, my friends, is a very good thing indeed!
An Awesome start to the new Highland Revenge Trilogy! Cherished by a Highlander had me from the get-go and will keep you captivated all the way through. Donna Fletcher has given readers a book that is well-written, filled it with superb cast of characters and a strong plot that bring this read together perfectly! Her characters come to life as you find yourself drawn into their story, the mystery of who the villain is will keep you guessing until the end, with witty dialogue, sizzling passion and characters that will carry over to next story. With setting descriptions and action sequences that are wonderfully vivid that brings the story to life and as the uncertainties escalates the suspense builds and suspicion abound which brings this read together perfectly.
Donna Fletcher has once again wrote an amazing story that was full of emotions. Cherished by a Highlander is the first book of the Highland Revenge Trilogy and begins with the story of Shade and Quint.
Shade, a very gifted healer living in the woods was sought out by the warrior, Quint, for her skills. As she slowly nursed him back to health, they have also become closer and their attraction for each other grew the more they spent time together. So much so that they have decided to wed. But Quint was also on a mission of revenge and his feelings for Shade complicate his quest.
A summon from Shade's friend had them travelling to Clan MacLeish, who were in battle against another clan. The couple offered their assistance while they slowly learn more things about each other. In the end, love always conquers all, even Quint's thirst for revenge.
I love every moment of the story. It was well written that the characters didn't feel out of place and their development was well thought off.
Shade was a refreshing change as a heroine. A bit older than the usual age group that Donna usually writes. And her struggle at life and love was really relatable, especially for someone like me who has already passed her "child-bearing age". The fear, the doubt, the hope and the trust she has for her partner can be felt throughout the story.
Quint was also a slight change from the usual male protagonist. He was a warrior who experienced love and loss. He wasn't a clan leader, just a regular warrior finding love a second time. (Unless Donna has a surprise up her sleeve in the next two books, then it will be a welcome surprise.)
The story was intriguing as well. There were so many elements that kept you reading and wondering what will happen next. When will the leader, Ryland return to the clan? Are the rumors true about him and Torrance true? Why is Dru hiding? (Although, this I have an idea but it might be a spoiler so I won't say anything.) There are still secrets that need to be revealed and I'm excited to find out on the next book.
All in all, Cherished by a Highlander kept me reading, hoping the answer would reveal itself on the next page. So many small stories that are intricately woven together that I'm sure will be answered at the end of the trilogy. I'm really excited for the next book to come up. I hope it's soon.
A strong start to a brand-new interconnected Highlander series from Donna Fletcher.
🌿 “There is a fine line between good and evil.”
Quint, a wounded warrior, Shade, a gifted healer living in the woods, and a slow, tender romance that grows with every shared moment. As she nurses him back to health, their connection deepens, and what begins as necessity slowly turns into something impossible to ignore.
🌿 “I will always find my way back to you, Shade.”
Their growing attraction leads to a marriage of protection, but Quint’s secret mission of revenge casts a shadow over everything. The push and pull between duty, desire, grief, and hidden truths makes their story feel layered yet healing.
🌿“As in all things, wisdom comes with time. It cannot be rushed, for lessons would be missed.”
Intriguing with secrets, twists, and lingering questions kept me turning pages, eager to see what would be revealed next.
💫 Cherished by a Highlander by Donna Fletcher (Highland Revenge, Book 1) Historical Romance | Grief x Healing | Forced Proximity (One Bed) | Secret Identity | 334 pp | ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 (4.5/5) 💫 “Love is unreasonable, unexplainable, and undeniable… Nothing makes sense, you can’t explain it to yourself or anyone else, yet you cannot deny it.”
The Monk, the Healer, One Powerful Romance Story: The perfect man, Quint and Shade with her special healing powers made this story into an epic swashbuckling fast paced mystery romance that took me to the depths of hell and to the heavens above. A Bravo to the author for this thrilling love story. The beginning of a new series that starts with a page turning read that has all of the elements that makes up a really good story. There is not a dull moment, and the cast of characters only add to the enjoyment, excitement, fear, mystery and so much more. The romance between Quint and Shade is so deeply emotional, and passionate it had my heart pounding at each of their many love encounters The villains got their just reward from the Monk, and I could finally catch my breath and enjoy the very happy ending for Shade and Quint. 💋Mature Advisory 🔥🔥+ 💖Favorite Character: Dru the little smelly waif that added so much to the story. 🙋♀️I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy for my honest thoughts and opinion
Great start to a new series. Lots of twists and turns. The next ones will continue the story on. I hope we get to see Shade and Quint/The Monk, along with Dur and Nag. I loved the banter between Dru and Nug. I hope they get a book too. It would be fun to see the "light bulb" flick on when they figure out they care for each other. Donna's books are so well written it's like you're right there in the midst of it all. It's hard to put them down. She takes her time to develop the story between her characters. It's makes it more believable how they feel about each other and what happens. You don't find yourself thinking WTH or where did that come from. Unless she wants you to think it. I can pretty much figure things out with other authors not Donna. I'm alway saying well I didn't see that coming with her books LOL. I highly recommend this book and any of her books. They are well worth it.
Cherished by a Highlander by Donna Fletcher Highland Revenge Trilogy Book One Quint is a loner out for revenge. His wife was brutally murdered, and he’s been tracking and killing the men off one by one, working his way to finding the man behind her death and the death of some monks in a small abbey. He never intended to find an attraction to the healer he went to, and even so, he had a mission to accomplish. Shade was a healer with a little extra something passed down from her great-grandmother to help her. She was lonely, but she knew she’d be alone at her age. At least she had the healing that she loved. Everything changes when Quint comes for healing, unknowingly bringing his enemies along and putting Shade in danger. Another fast-paced, page-turning tale that has me wanting the following story as soon as I finish. It is a complete story with a secondary story happening. **Sexual content https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
Donna never disappoints her readers. I loved this book so much. Quint is a troubled man after the brutal murder of his wife Amara. Some even say he is mad. He will stop as nothing to avenge her death. When he crosses paths with Shade the healer, things start to change for him in unexpected ways. Both Quint and Shade are loners but are drawn to each other in a way that neither can explain but yet can’t give up. But they both have a secret that they must trust each other with if they are to overcome the evil that lurks around them. I loved, loved, loved Quint and Shade (the devil and the Angel).
Good story, good plot, great characters, even the evil ones are well written with a great story line to flow right into books 2 and 3. Donna Fletcher writes wonderful Highlander stories about these strong men who love, fight, rid the land of evil and rescue the innocent. The reader falls in love with the hero and heroine right from the start and can’t wait for their happy ever after even though the journey is sometimes nail biting at times. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, highly recommend it and can’t wait for book 2.
Well written, enticing, entertaining action packed new series by Donna Fletcher. Intense , witty, depicting the highlands nature, fear, love, and how stories grow are just a part of this saga. Shade is a healer. Quint is her patient. He shows his Quint side in helping Shade and them getting to know each other. His life is revenge. Hers is helping those in need. He has a big secret. Things can change when she finds out who he really is. I couldn't put it down.
Shade is a healer and Quint is a warrior who goes to Shade to take care of this wound. Both have a secret. I loved the twists and turns that the story takes; it will leave you guessing what will happen next and this is why I love Donna Fletcher's stories. I am not waiting very patiently for the next book in the series as I am sure it will be as great as this one is.
I loved this adventure! It was very interesting and exciting! The way you wove the story was incredible. I didn't figure anything out until the characters had! The characters were awesome especially Dru! She was amazingly brave. Can't wait to read the rest of the series!!! Thanks for sharing your story!
A great start to a new trilogy! Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2024 I really enjoyed this book. Donna Fletcher never disappoints me with her historical romance. It had a mix of romance, spice, tension and great characters. I highly recommend this book to anyone who love highlander books. Well done, Donna!
This is the beginning of a new series from one of my favorite authors, but found myself skipping lots of pages as they seemed to become repetitive, things took place that also seemed to have no real correlation between characters actually not one of her better books, really unusual for her, nonetheless am waiting for the book in the series
Another great start to a trilogy! Quint a highland warrior on a mission to revenge the brutal death of his wife. Shade a gifted healer, with secrets. The Monk a ruthless hunter A Hidden Foe hunting the hunter You have the highland secrets, lies, cunning, revenge, trust, love, doubt and mystery. What more could you need. Donna has given it to you again in this must read! Enjoy!!
What a killer start to a new trilogy! The mystery plot was solid, packed with twists I genuinely didn't see coming—it kept me guessing right up to the final page. Shade and Quint's chemistry felt real and totally kept me invested in their story. The supporting cast was interesting, and I'm really crossing my fingers Dru gets her own book. Can't wait for the rest of the series.
This was a great first book to a series. Quint/Monk and Shade the healer. This had a good plot with a lot going on. It was difficult to keep everyone straight (but that is more because I listen to audiobooks)
The is so much to be learned about the healing of the human body thru historical readings... How to the herbs and flowers and banks and roots...very interesting......
