Hugo's Graveyard

Rate this book
Pharmacist Michael Jason Kerkowski went missing along with his girlfriend, Tammy Lynn Fassett, on May 3, 2002. Many believed Kerkowski fled to avoid being sentenced to prison having been convicted of illegally selling prescription drugs from his pharmacy.
Thirteen months after they were last seen, their bodies were found buried in the same grave behind the home where Kerkowski's "best friend" Hugo Marcus Selenski lived. Flex ties were wrapped around their necks, wrists and ankles.
The criminal case against Selenski involved a prison escape using bedsheets, dramatic and hostile court proceedings and multiple changes among judges, prosecutors and defense attorneys for more than a decade.

Book was ok overall, filled with lots of firsthand information regarding the case. It kinda starts off all over the place and is hard to follow, but eventually settles into the timeline of events. Editing is really nonexistent as the book is littered with spelling errors, which adds to the confusion at times. But it accomplished what I was seeking, which was a detailed overview of the case which I found even more intriguing that it took place largely in the area I now reside.

repetitive

This book was good and went along the court system as a case goes through the system. There was a ton that’s just repetitive and what was 400 and some pages probably could’ve been 200 and some pages. Overall, it was OK I wouldn’t say it was the best book I read as an avid reader, it was OK. Oh! Spellcheck is also a really good tool to use.

I learned more about my hometown case but it was horribly written with grammatical errors, missing page numbers and terrible book format. I did learn things I didn’t know but it was hard to concentrate because of how badly it was written

It is amazing that after forty years of work as a journalist, Lewis is still incapable of using spell check and ellipses. Very in depth, but not very insightful, this book is mostly just verbatim courtroom conversations. Talk about what the locals know, Ed!
