Velvet Kisses dives into the competitive world of beauty where ambition is everything. For Satin, launching her own lipstick line is more than a dream—it's her ticket to success. When she secures guidance from the influential but notoriously mean-spirited beauty icon Stacie Monroe, she sees it as a golden opportunity.
But as Satin delves deeper into the beauty industry, she discovers cracks beneath the surface glamour. Stacie’s seemingly perfect life is marred by infidelity, and Satin finds herself drawn to Stacie's kind-hearted boyfriend, Anson.
As Satin and Anson grow closer, their bond threatens to unravel Stacie’s carefully crafted facade. Satin discovers that in the world of beauty, nothing is as it seems.
Not sure how to feel about this one. We learned more about the beauty industry from Satin, who was trying to get her foot in the door, than from Stacie who was supposed to be the guru. Stacie was just the face of the company, and allowed everyone else to do the work, while she reaped the benefits. Oh, and she was definitely a hatin’ ass bih!! Ughh…. 😤🤬
Anson was a sweetheart. I knew that this coupling could possibly get a lil messy, but chile Stacie was over the damn top wit it!! I wish we knew what was up with Stacie causing her to be so hands off with her company and acting out. I believe that would have given more life to the story, in my humble opinion.
I loved the way that this was my first introduction to your work! Great job!!! I loved Satin & Anson. He was boss man without being cocky. He brought the perfect balance to her by letting her be the boss while also allowing her to be soft! They both had undeniable support from family. Greta was a lifesaver & I loved to see her confidence build over time! When I say that Stacie worked my last nerves with her AUDACITY! Satin handled that VERY well! Also I’ve never read a book from one character’s perspective & it was delightful! I think taking that approach took away from dragging the drama so I enjoyed that element!
Anson and Satin was that couple once they began their relationship. Both of them were about their business and very supportive of each other. I couldn't stand Stacie from the very first meeting. She was truly awful, and I was happy when karma hit her doorstep. This book gave us chemistry, passion and drama which I thoroughly enjoyed reading. This is my first time reading anything by this author, but it definitely won't be my last.
This was a good read. This book is about an entrepreneur expanding her business. She finds out the hard way how the grimy some people in the industry can be. While working to expand her business she finds love along the way. Overall, I enjoyed the storyline. Normally, when I read stories like this it gives a point of view from both the female and the male main characters. This story only gives one point of view but it was easily a good read.
Satin and Anson were both bosses! They both knew exactly what they wanted and went after it both person and professional. I love the character development especially with Greta. I knew from the initial meeting that Staci was going to be a problem.
Great job and what a wonderful way to introduce yourself, Amberlei Jae!
This was a cute little work romance!! The twist in the book was unexpected but the series of events that transpire to that twist were normal but I’m glad loved prevailed and Stacie got what that butt deserved!!
This was a cute, quick read for me. Even though quick it did not lack for anything. The drama, the love and support was awesome in this book. It is a must read.
