Mrs. Otis’s class is watching a video about the tomb of King Ramses the Thirteenth, who was a king in ancient Egypt. King Ramses lived more than three thousand years ago. Back then, kings were called pharaohs. King Ramses’ tomb wasn’t discovered until last year. An exhibit of the beautiful things from his tomb was touring the United States. Mrs. Otis is taking the class to see it at the Los Angeles History Museum. Lila wants to see the jewelry. Lila, Amy, Jessica, and Andy all want to see the mummy. Liz thinks they’re crazy! King Ramses' mummy it says was in such good shape that it traveled all the way from Egypt to Sweet Valley.
A college student comes to talk to the class that was there when the tomb was discovered. He works at the museum. Henry tells them about the pyramids and how they were built on the pharaohs' tombs. A few queens had pyramids, too. Henry tells about the pyramids' neat shape. They are square at the bottom. All four sides are triangles. The triangles meet in a point at the top. Also, the ~ pyramids are huge. Henry told us that King Ramses the Thirteenth had been 6 Se a4 iy ote buried under two million blocks of stone.
Henry explains that the ancient Egyptians built King Ramses' pyramid long before he died. They had to have a way to get the king's body inside the tomb after the pyramid was finished. There had to be a tunnel running from outside the pyramid to inside the tomb. The opening was very well hidden. They made sure he’d be safe. Henry tells them that the items uncovered are priceless. That’s why the museum has hired many extra guards and installed an excellent alarm system.
Eva asks, wasn’t he scared the mummy would get him? He says he wasn’t but. He suddenly puts his hand on his head and closes and opens his eyes. He says it was hard to get Egyptians to work for them because of superstition. Then he cuts the rest of the questions short because he’s not feeling well.
Mrs. Otis tells the class to do a report on Egyptian pyramids and assigns them partners. Jessica gets to work with Lila. Liz gets assigned Andy. They get to choose the subject. Liz and Andy decide to do their paper on pyramids and superstitions. Mrs. Otis warns that it might not be at the museum. They might have to look in the library. Jessica says she and Lila’s report will be on the coffin.
Liz and Andy find out that the pharaoh’s tomb is cursed. Anyone who interrupts his sleep dies. They tell the other kids on the bus, who tell that no way. Any tells them about King Tut, who was an Egyptian pharaoh just like Ramses. There was a man named Lord Carnarvon who opened his tomb. Two months after he died. The night he died, all the lights in Cairo went out. Not long after two dozen men also died that helped him with the dig. Jessica says she thinks Henry is cursed.
All of a sudden, the bus lurches and they discover they have a flat tire. When they get to the museum, they’re impressed at the fancy stone building that they think must have been someone’s house. Their some suits of armor that Jessica doesn’t really like because she thinks they look creepy. Then they see a woolly mammoth. Mrs. Otis tells them not to worry. The last one died out ten thousand years ago.
Liz is curious about the snakes. Peggy explains. The Egyptians had many Gods. The most powerful was Ra (the sun God). Ra is represented by a cobra. That’s why there are so many in the room. Andy wishes he could see them more closely. He loves snakes! Even poisonous ones. Liz thinks OH HELL NO! Peggy then teaches them about a capstone (the stone at the top of a pyramid). On the elevator, she shows them how far they’ve come down in King Ramses tomb.
Mrs. Otis shows them the mummy. While Jessica is looking at the case, Charlie tries to get closer and shoves her out of the way. She bumps into the case and all the lights go out.
Andy says it reminds him of the night Lord Carnarvon died. There’s a crash of thunder. The jewels and the necklace shine in the dark. Liz thinks she sees the mummy’s finger wiggle. Jessica thinks King Ramses is mad at her because she bumped into the case. Peggy finds a light and leads them outside, and Mrs. Otis takes them back to their bus. Caroline slips in the mud. When they get to the bus, Andy isn’t there. Liz says she has to go find him because he’s her buddy. Jessica says she’s going to. She tells Lila to come, but she says NOPE! That place is cursed. So, the twins sneak past their teacher.
They hear a BOOM and scream. It’s just thunder. The twins hear something growl in front of them. They start to run, but Liz crashes into a suit of armor in front of her. Liz falls to the floor, and everything goes black. Liz comes too. Jessica drags her to the door. When they get to the door, it's locked. Jessica starts to pound on the door. Whatever it is (is) coming closer. Then they both start pounding on the door. Jessica slides down to the floor and says the ghosts of King Ramses is going to get them, and its all her fault.
Liz says it’s probably just a guard. She steps out into the hall to prove and then screams. It’s Andy. Jessica demands to know where he was. He says never mind. It’s coming. Jessica asks what’s coming. She soon finds out. It’s the woolly mammoth. So, they run. Only Liz can’t run fast because she hurt her ankle. Now, it's close enough for her to smell its breath. Jessica and Andy pull Liz into the elevator in the knick of time. The elevator opens into the Pharoah’s tomb. They all think what’s going on has something to do with the curse.
All of a sudden, Andy and Jessica feel like they can’t breathe. Then the lights flash and an alarm goes off. Andy realizes that theat the system has failed and there’s no air in the tomb, so they have to get out of there. They make it to the elevator, but it doesn’t move. No one comes. Liz starts to fall asleep. Andy says they have to find another way out. So, they go back to the Pharoah’s tomb. Jessica finds a staircase on the side of the elevator.
Andy breaks his glasses, but they continue to climb up (where the air is better). Elizabeth struggles, but feels better when she gets to the top and opens the door. Because Andy thinks he’s being too slow, he tells them that if the woolly mammoth comes back, just leave him. Liz ignores him, and then they see something on the floor. The floor is full of cobras. They make it past them into the hallway, but the cobras are trying to squeeze into the hallway with them. Liz thinks quick and traps the snakes by sticking her jacket underneath the door.
There’s a staircase. Andy suggests they go down. There’s a noise coming below them that sounds like a groan. They debate what to do and decide they have to help if it’s a person. They come to a door and hear more moaning. Jessica decides to go in. It leads to the tomb. The door clicks shut. Then they find Henry in front of the tomb. Henry confesses he was trying to steal the coffin and everything in it. He had everything planned. He planned the alarm to be turned off and the lights to go off. But as soon as he touched the coffin, he got terrible pains in his stomach, and he thinks he’s dying. He says he can’t leave, but they need to get out there. Then he passes out.
They decide to save him even tho he’s a thief. There’s a puddle of green gloop beside him. It's coming from the mummy’s case. Jessica bumps into the case. King Ramses sits up. They all decide to get out of there and get help for Henry later. The mummy starts to come toward them. They find a key ring on Henry. There’s a ton of keys. None of them work. One of the keys fits through the staircase. They go through and close (but don’t lock) it. Jessica goes to find another door. The mummy is on the other side trying to get through.
The mummy gets into the hallway and blocks the exit. There’s a plane and a ladder. Jessica and Andy make it into the plane. The mummy can’t get up. Just as the mummy pulls the ladder away, Liz gets into the plane. The wires are about to snap. They swing out the window, hit a tree, and everything goes black. Liz comes to, and Mrs. Otis, Jessica, and Andy are standing over her. Liz has got a bump on her head. Then there’s Henry. He says he got a headache, but that’s all (in confusion) when Liz asks if he’s ok. Andy also has his glasses. A man tells her she never hit a tree. It must have been a dream.
But the reality is Liz hit her head when she crashed into the suit of armor and imagined the rest.
Rating: 7. Interestingly, not bad. There was a lot of adventure. Never a dull moment in this one. But it was a perfect copy of another version of Class Trip where Liz passes out on a ride and his this very bizarre hallucinations. Tho, I did prefer these (hallucinations) to that one for some reason.

August 18, 2024A fun, educational story that I can imagine kids really loving. As an adult I struggled with the ending, but it wouldn't have been so grating as a kid.

This book wins for most misleading title! The kids are learning all about Egypt, because King Ramses XIII (who doesn’t exist) was just found in his tomb in Egypt by some Americans, including Henry, who works at the museum. Everyone is partnered up (Liz with Andy and Jess with Lila) and they pick a relevant Egyptian topic to write about. Liz and Andy pick superstition. Then they go on a field trip to the museum, where they see a wholly mammoth, cobras, and of course, the Mummy. But Charlie Cashman pushes Jess into the Mummy’s coffin (still crushing I see), and at that moment the lights go out. Then they all leave, freaked that they’ve been cursed. But Liz can’t find Andy on the bus, so she and Jess go in search of him, and Liz hits her head on a suit of armour. But then they find Andy, and he’s being chased by a wooly mammoth 😱 Then they get stuck in a room full of live, out of their cages Cobras (which Liz manages to stop by sticking her jacket under the door), a room with no air, and then finally, the Mummy. Henry is down there, trying to steal everything, but he’s in too much pain, and then the Mummy comes to life, chasing them with tiny bound footsteps. They climb into a display plane, and manage to fly it out a window and crash into a tree. Then Mrs Otis wakes Liz - it was all a dream. Or was it? Liz can’t find her jacket…
My rating - 5/10 - although there was no curse on Liz, even in her dream, and it’s definitely an overused plot, it was still fun.

This book is the girl who named,'Elizabeth', her class went field trip to Egypt museum moreover they left the boy called,'Andy'. Elizabeth and her friends went for find Andy but the door became locked!
The subject was the Egyptians Museum so it seems interesting, that was the reason what I was read this
book. When they went to the mummy's room, it felt I went there too inadition, I wanted to go to Egypt
trip because of this book. Whenb Elizabeth and her friends went and found out Andy, I was worried about,
'What if they couldn't find him?' however that wasn't the problem. The real problem was in the Museum, everything became alive and the air was gone. Finally I knew that was all Elizabeth's dream, it was a
little empty but when I felt that it was Elizabeth and my secret therefore I was happy.
Later, I hope Elizabeth is staying good and I want to see her often to read her stories. This book gave
me the heart, more imaginations and gladness. Therefore I'm thankful for this book and the writer.
I want to find out more interesting about Egypt and I want to study to write more interesting furthermore, write perfect book as like 'Harry Potter.'
