4.5 Heartbreaking tears.

I really wanted to give this 5 but for me personally I found Elizabeth annoying to an extent that I skipped her POVs. Don't get me wrong this series is worth it. I found that Christian and Lizzie is the sweetheart of this series even though, he was every bit of an asshole.

Book 1 was sweet, intense and emotional but just right. I like their connection.

Book 2 Christian and Elizabeth needed to sort their shit out and if it wasn’t for Lizzie I spent half the time being made at Elizabeth. Okay, I get that Christian didn’t deserve to see his daughter but for him redeeming himself I knew that at least Elizabeth should have given him a chance for the sake of their daughter and it wasn’t about her.

Book 3 is too over the top dragged out all over the place annoyance that laid within Elizabeth. Yeah I get she's heartbroken but WTF she actually was debating whether to blame Christian for what happened to her but in a way I felt like their word to each other were just that words that are meaningleas but I was hoping that they’d see and Elizabeth would see that they had a child to look after but for me they both never considered how a child would feel. So yes they both were selfish and Elizabeth actually happy that another man made her smile and laugh and thinking she could forget ummm yeah I didn’t like her after that and Christian was trying his best but for me he at least knew where his faults lied.

The sweetest moment OVERALL was Christian and his daughter Lizzie, I love their chemistry.

Hands down, THE best series, by THE best author. Not even kidding you right now.

If you don't like "feeling" a book when you read it, if you don't like angst, if you don't like beautiful imagery and eloquent story-telling, this series may not be for you. BUT, if you're anything like me, and live for these elements in a good read...you're going to LOVE this series!

I absolutely could NOT put these books down, and lost tons of sleep because of them. I love these characters, and love how Amy brings you in to their lives, and makes you feel a part of their beautiful story. I'm happy to have read the series in the order they were published. Lost to You was so incredibly perfect, because I already knew the characters, but seeing their story come to life from its inception was needed to complete the perfection of the story.

And don't even get me started on the beauty of their new cover design. The original covers were BEAUTIFUL! But these are just perfect, especially Lost to You....just, wow. That's exactly how I saw them.

A.L. Jackson has a forever fan in me. I can't help but to bring up her name when talking with any book enthusiast. She's just that good.

Oh my!! Heartbreakingly beautiful! I loved, and at times hated, this book. What a roller coaster ride. Just this minute finished it and all I can think is WOW!!

So happy to have taken this journey with Christian and Elizabeth! It was devastating at times and so sweet and lovely at other times.

Book 2 was the hardest to read. I knew there was a HEA but the road the author took us on was heartbreaking. I wanted to shout at both MCs to stop - Elizabeth to stop pushing Christian away and at Christian stop giving her too much space. 'Fight for each other', I wanted to shout at them!!

Ugh, definitely feeling a book hangover coming on. Not ready to jump into another book right away which is always a sure sign of a great book!!

This series absolutely tore my heart out. I was a crying mess so many times. In the beginning I was so angry at Cristian for what he decided and threw away, but he redeemed himself to me and I fell in love with him. I thought this was the Happily Ever After. Then I keep reading...and nope it wasn't. Then I was soooo angry at Elizabeth. She drove me batty...why she couldn't see what was right there I still don't know. It took her FOREVER to see. I almost couldn't finish this book so many times. But I kept reading and in the end I was happy. Happy to have gone through this journey as if I was really part of the lives of Cristian, Elizabeth and Lizzie.

After reading this series, I feel mentally drained/tired. The problems that these two characters had to face/overcome to finally get their HEA was tiring. I loved Christian's character. At first, I thought I would be reading about another self-absorbed character but that was not the case. Christian was an just an overall great guy who admitted to his wrongs and worked to make things right. He never gave up on Elizabeth even though she kept pushing him away. Now, Elizabeth's character, I thought she was a bit selfish a few times throughout the series. I will warn that when you get the last book in the series, have your tissues at the ready.

I listened to the audio books and I love Andi Arndt. I only wish there would have been a male narrator to voice Christians' POV. Otherwise, it was a great set of audiobooks.

This series is the very emotional journey of two university students, Elizabeth and Christian, who meet by chance in a cafe.
Elizabeth is living her dream of moving across the country to study in New York. She has worked hard all her life to get to this point and is determined that she will not let anything stand in her way, especially the distraction of a boyfriend.
Christian, the rich boy who is expected to achieve highly in order to take over from his father in the family law firm. Whatever he says or does is never good enough.
This is their story. Starting out as study partners then friends and then lovers, this series takes them on a journey of denial, love, hardship, difficult childhoods and ultimately, tragic loss.
If you like romantic reads of second chance love, this series will tug at your heartstrings.
I cried all the way through books 2 and 3 and couldn't quite believe the hardships and tragedies that these two souls went through until they finally got their HEA.
A beautifully and flawlessly written series by a lady who has just joined a minority on my list of all time favourite authors.
A highly recommended read!

Christian and Elizabeth. What can I say?

There aren’t enough superlatives to describe these novels.

All the words on the page were just so significant. The author’s awareness, style of writing and the meaningful flow of words, just made what I was reading seep into my heart. Nothing felt contrived.

As a reader I can’t help but reach out to a character and sympathise with their feelings. When a storyline makes your stomach coil, inhale and hold your breath, you just know you are on a rollercoaster until the last page. The writing was JUST. THAT. GOOD

Their first love, their happy ever after and everything in between. Wow.

Book 1 - Lost To You

They’re eighteen and fall in love, four years later and the sh*t hit the fan at the end of book one…..the person she thought she knew, lived with, loved, changed. How could he?
It was hard to stomach the change in Christian. Who really was he in the four years they were together? Christian, the quintessential rich playboy at Eighteen, had spent the last four years growing into, what we assumed, was a man.
He’d ruined what they had. He’d discarded her like she meant nothing and walked away.

Book Two - Take This Regret

Five years past.

Christian falls in love with his daughter at first sight.

When it said he was haunted by the choices he made, my thought was, so he f**king should be!

How could Elizabeth get past her hurt? There were four years of them being together that we didn’t get to see and five years of her living without him and of her being abandoned. What really was his excuse? Other than fear and immaturity. I really don’t blame Elizabeth for her reluctance to let go of the past. Who would? You can’t just sweep away five years of hurt and abandonment.

Does anyone deserve a second chance?

The only thing that was redeeming about Christian was his remorse and guilt. It was there, directly for us to read. Rightly or wrongly, to forgive or not to forgive as a reader, he was trying to make amends. His anguish and regret was palpable and that is what I needed as reader to understand why Elizabeth had let him into her daughters life.

It didn’t negate the previous five years of him abandoning her but Elizabeth has to relent to him seeing Lizzie FOR Lizzie’s sake. You always put your child first…every time.
Lizzie didn’t know of the hurt…why would she? She was five years old. A child who fell in love with her daddy on first sight. As a mother you just couldn’t ignore that. Even though Christian didn’t deserve a second chance, Lizzie did deserve the right for him to try. Lizzie deserved his second chance. It was all about her in that moment.

The author didn’t deter from writing about Christian and his guilt. He took full responsibility for his mistakes and recognised how awful he had been. A second chance for him to finally take responsibility. If the writer hadn’t written all his internal anguish, I would’ve struggled with Elizabeth’s ability to move forward. He took responsibility, dissected all his mistakes and fell into his guilt head on. He didn’t try to make excuses and owned his downfall. That was his redemption.

At the one point in book two Elizabeth made some mistakes. Did I blame her? No. As much as it upset me to read how it affected Lizzie, it was needed. She needed the anger and anguish that week to set her free to move forward.

Book 3 - If forever Comes

I had to put off reading this book as I knew it would be heartbreaking. Sometimes you have to put a book away to read when you are ready.

It’s heartbreaking. There’s no right or wrong way on how to grieve.
I disliked Elizabeth at one point but it was the trigger that unleashed her tsunami of emotions that enabled them to take a step forward together.

Amazing 🤩

Lost to You by A.L. Jackson is the first installment in the Regret Series.
Meet Christian and Elizabeth. Both are students and about to graduate from college and go to lkaw school. They love each other and both are career driven.
But life and karma throw a wrench their way. Elizabeth gets pregnant and Christian acts unspeakable cruel.
He destroys her with his words and actions.
Lost to You is a story that gutted me to the core. It made my heart bleed and I can´t wait to read how their story continues.

Take This Regret by A.L. Jackson is the second installment in the Regret Trilogy and not a standalone. You must read the previous book, Lost to You, first.
The story picks up nearly 6 years after Lost to You ends. Christian became a successful lawyer and works for his father´s company. He´s freshly moved to San Diego and suddenly he runs into little girl. And he can´t get her out of his head. Could it be his child? His neglected, denied and unwanted child? Thanks to google he shows up on Elizabeth´s doorstep and bombardes her with calls and voice mails because suddenly he MUST know his kid and can´t live without her. Yeah - so not happening. I was strongly on Elizabeth´s side and despised Christian and his actions. His blackmail and threaten Elizabeth. He for sure isn´t my favorite person I get it, he´s sorry and desperate, but in my opinion he gave his right on this girl away the day he made Elizabeth choose, him or the child.
I´m torn. Torn between giving 5 stars to a fantastic read and deny this asshole the 5 stars. But the writing is great and A.L. Jackson made my bllod boil with this story and Elizabeth gets her well deserved 5 stars. Stay strong woman !

If Forever Comes by the outstanding author A.L. Jackson is the third book and the conclusion to the Regret Series.
Elizabeth and Christian are together and about to get married - not. Because karma throws a major wrench their way and destroys their relationship again. Their story is one of heartbreak, pain and a world of hurt, bonedeep desperation.
The story made me ugly cry more than one time and my heart was bleeding for the characters. Both are way over their heads with the situation and act in old patterns. He threatens and she drowns in depression.
I Forever Comes is the epic conclusion to a epic love story. I confess, I read the books, put them to the side and now I read them again - all of them in one sitting. They put me through the wringer and now I´m sitting here, empty and with a major book hangover.

Kale and Hope's story. Be prepared to lose your heart to these characters. Both dealing with issues from their pasts. For Kale it's the struggle to overcome the guilt he is feeling. No matter how often the people that love him tell him it was not his fault. Concentrating on his work and only his work he meets Hope. And that is when things for him change in a way he never expected.

For Hope it's the fight to keep her son healthy. There is nothing and no one who is more important to her. That is until she meets Kale and feelings she never thought she would feel again come to the surface.

One could call it instant chemistry. But little do they know that their happiness does not come without the heartache.........be prepared for to fall in love with this story. Be prepared to fall in love with the characters. And be prepared for a plot you won't see coming. Thank you AL Jackson for another amazing story. What else can I say but I just love your words. Magical and brilliant. Thank you.

This was purchased as a box set when it was on sale and I had no idea of what it was about. Then I let it it on my shelf and forgot about it. I really need to stop doing things like that. This entire series is one that really should bad read and appreciated for what it is worth.

Elizabeth and Christian in the first book are in college and are trying to fight the inevitable. Elizabeth is determined to remain friends with Christian and not act on her feelings that she has some how fallen in love with him. Christian has wanted Elizabeth from the moment he walked into the cafe. Assigned as study partners for their government class, all he wants to study is Elizabeth.

In book two, this is where the true regret takes place. In life there are many paths that one can choose but unfortunately not all paths lead to happiness. Some are filled with regret for choosing the wrong path and now have to live with that decision. Elizabeth and Christian have a decision to make and that decision will change their lives forever.

The third book in The Regret Series was by far the best book. In the beginning I was a little lost as to what had happened. Then I realized A.L. Jackson was giving us not one but two stories in this book. She flip flops from past to present. Usually I don't like stories that are written like this. I get lost in the back and forth. This one however was done flawlessly. Christian and Elizabeth are now a happy family but that is about to be tested by the ultimate act of tragedy. More choices will be made. Whether right or wrong to some people reading this story might find it difficult. I understood Elizabeth and her choices she made. I understood her pain. Her fear. Christian had to fight for Elizabeth in the second book and this one is no exception. Everyone deals with tragedy differently and this is the story of Elizabeth's and Christian's tragedy and how they dealt with it.

This is one of those series that makes you connect with the characters you are reading. Makes you understand and feel the emotions that come across the pages as you read the words. Truly is a fantastic series and worth every penny if it is not on sale when buying.

So I wanted a book about betrayal, and I certainly got one. This one had BITE! And the betrayal stung! So of course, I want to see how the hero would redeem himself. Nothing like some good old fashioned grovelling. But this one was going to be really difficult.

And difficult it was. GEEZ!

By the time you get to the second book, it starts to become apparent that everything is about emotional turmoil. Written in both POV's, these two adults have nothing better to do then feel sorry for themselves and be hurt. There is nothing else in their lives but emotions and thought about each other. And even though every emotion is well described and valid. It doesn't take away from the fact that their is no respite from it.

So when things were working out, the total over the top love worship of one another was at time vomit inducing. But those moments are rushed, so that the author can propel you back to the pain of more crap-tastic shit hitting the fan. It was truly a bipolar read. When high...too high. When low... too low.

By the third book, my head was thumping because I was so exhausted by their insufferable complaining, whining, bitching!

Not to mention their perfect daughter. She sounded so phoney and perfectly behaved that I wanted to scream. I mean seriously? YES MOMMA! YES DADDY! I LOVE YOU DADDY! I LOVE YOU MOMMA!! She never once threw a fit at how selfish both her self absorbed parents were! I like realistic kids in a books. This one was over the top with a shiny halo. However, it should be mentioned that she was more mature than both her parents at meager 5 years of age!

My goodness what a heartbreaking series.

Review for If Forever Comes...

I went into this one immediately after finishing Take this Regret. I wasn't sure what to expect after what seemingly could have been an appropriate end to the story of Christian, Elizabeth and Lizzie. Normally you don't see an author take away your happiness so I was honestly shocked at the turn things took and was impatient to find out what was the cause of it. After putting two and two together I figured it all out but I really wasn't prepared emotionally for what I was reading. Hit with the reality of what I wanted for them sucks when the outcome isn't desirable. I can't count how many times I tore up for this family. This book was a journey, no instant gratification here.

I hate that it took me so long to read this series but I'm really glad that I did.

This is my review of Take This Regret, book 2 of the series only.

This second book picks up in Christian and Elizabeth's last year in college and going from a very happy couple, totally in love. Then everything changes.

Christian and Elizabeth's lives then take completely different directions to what they had both planned, and they are both hurting in different ways. Elizabeth cannot forgive Christian for the choice he forced her into, but it means he is no longer in her life. Until circumstances change again, and Christian finds himself in Elizabeth's home town and wondering how her life has turned out.

More love, heartache and warring emotions leave you hoping for one outcome that you don't think is possible - will they work it out or not?

Omg I'm so in love with Christian n Elizabeth! At times Christian made me so mad! I was pretty upset with Elizabeth as well....Lizzy always kept me smiling❤️....These books were awesome from the beginning story to the last. Everyone should read this trilogy! AL Jackson should have a disclaimer in the beginning of the book.....have a box of tissues handy, there is no way you can read book two Take Regret without crying. I cried through the entire book and mostly through the last book Forever Comes. I felt all of the love, all of the pain and all of the joys. I absolutely loved these books n would rate them ten stars if I could. Good Job! AL Jackson...

I have to say it could just be that I wasn't in the mood or right mindframe for such a sad story, but I just didn't enjoy it. I liked the first 2 ok but the 3rd one was not my fav. I found myself skimming to get to something interesting and not so utterly depressing. I also didn't really like her character that much. That's just my opinion to each their own. I thought it was well written with great attention to detail and discription just not my kind of story.

Emotion roller coaster!

I have never loved and hated the characters the way I did in this series. I absolutely enjoyed watching them become friends and then lovers and had my heart ripped out when it was all torn away. I hated Christian and his cowardice. Then I wanted to slap Elizabeth and make him take her back, especially when he had paid such a high price in the last book. I laughed, I loved, and I definitely cried. What a roller coaster of an emotional book. Love it!

This series was a roller coaster of ups and downs, highs and lows and triumphs and tribulations. Elizabeth and Christian's journey was long and bumpy and at times, I never thought I'd see them get the happy ending. Of course, they do, but getting to that point was difficult and really cuts you to your core. A great series with a lot of angst, but well worth it.

I really enjoyed this series. If I would have had to wait for the next book to come out, I would probably not have rated the individual books as I have the total series. There are ups and downs throughout and felt like an emotional roller coaster for most of the series. The end was satisfying and has stayed with me after I finished the last page.

A.L. This was a good series. I sometimes find it interesting to read dual POV. Part of it is you find out what both people are feeling, which is great but at the same time, you want to reach through your kindle and shake the person!!! The series was well written and I look forward to reading more from this author.
