Last time we saw Benjamin Franklin Gates, the cunning, impassioned lead character of Walt Disney Pictures' National Treasure , he had succeeded in evading shady characters, fulfilling his family's destiny, and discovering an unimaginable trove of treasures beneath Manhattan's oldest church.
Now, Ben is back. In National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets , the hero finds an all-new set of dangers, conflicts, double-crossings, and of course...treasure!
Why did you decide to read this book? . I always wondered if this was a book, as I LOVE the movies. I remember watching the movies as a young girl. Ever so often I get the movies out to watch them again as I love them so much. When I asked my dad if he knew if there was a book version of the movie he went to the book shop and brought it for me.
What category on the bingo board does the book complete? . I chose to put this book under the category of a book that teaches you about another time in history. This book is very helpful for you to learn about other times in history. It taught me many thing but the main idea was about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
What's your favourite quote from the book? And why? "A man has only one life time. But history can remember you forever." . I really like the meaning that this quote gives. I think that it means you could go through life thinking that nobody notices you, but when you die you never know what people will know and say about you. While we live we make history. As we go through life we learn about things that have made history in the past and we learn about them but we never really stop and thing about the history that we are making. I think sometimes we do stupid things that we could easily stop if we stopped for one minute to think about what we are actually doing.
What is something new you have learnt from the book? .Something new I learnt from this book was that there is a lot of history we don't know about. Before I read the book and had watched the movies I didn't really know anything about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. i never knew that Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by people who wanted clues to get to the lost city of gold. This book really helped me learn about this. I think that the book is quite education but it is also funny which keeps it interesting.
A character or setting that was interesting? And why? .I found the character of Abigail interesting. I think I loved the movie so much as a child because of this character. Not only did we have the same name but I did really find her interesting. It amazed me by how much she knew about treasure hunting. From the outside she looks like a classy woman, but then you meet the other side of her which is tough and rough. I think sometimes we judge people to quickly, we actually need to get to know them before we judge them.
Overall I really enjoyed this book. I can even say I loved it as much as the movie and would recommend it to anyone who has seen the movie.
Have you ever gotten accused of doing something that you didn't do ? Follow by assumptions and opinions, the name and honor of you family was lost by a single type of information. In book 2 of the National Treasure, Ben Gates wanted to prove innocence of his Great-Great Grandfather for being the grand architect of the Lincoln assassination. In order to prove that his Great-great grandfather was innocence, Gates must find the treasure that existed with the clue, the dept that all men pay......
Ben Gates and Riley went on an adventure to look for clues in order to find the treasure. On the other hand, Gates was followed by Mitch Wilkinson, who wanted to discover the treasure by using the discover from Gates. When it comes to an end, Gates finally discover the city of gold and the adventure became more dangerous as gates get closer to finding the treasure. Would Gates by able to prove the Innocence of his Great-Great grandfather? If you are a fan of mystery and adventure books, i recommend this book for you to read. It would help you understand a little bit more about U.S history as you go through the thoughtful information in the book. I could promise you that, history would be more fascinating than any way you would've imagine in your life after you finish reading this book.
I read this with my oldest daughter, who is 11 and LOVED the first movie. She's a huge history buff, and really gets into all the clues and mystery aspect of the story. Not incredibly well-written -- it focuses on moving the plot forward and is obviously written for young kids. The movie promises to be fun and full of adventure just like the first one -- so that's a plus.
This was an odd book. There was a ton changed that didn’t need to be changed and extra information that I don’t know where she got it from; whether it was just not in the movie but in the screen writing or creative license. But the stuff she changed didn’t make sense why it would be changed.
Vivid and fun, this has a lot of imagination tucked away from scene to scene! The downside is just that there’s almost too much going on, with too little time to delve into much of it, so things get a bit rushed and large roadblocks become skated by. Nonetheless, an enjoyable, high-energy read!
This book may be Historical Fiction but this book is worth a reread. This includes Ben Gates , Riley, Abilgail, Patrick, and Emily. They find so many clues that will help cloear the Gates family name after Wilkinson made them look like criminals. They found the native american gold ,but Wilkinson died at the end saving them from the water.
As a fan of the "National Treasure" movies I was disappointed to find no novels for "National Treasure" or "Book Of Secrets". So I had to settle for a junior novel of "Book Of Secrets" which was an enjoyable read uneven for an adult.
