Corralled at Cutthroat Creek by Juno Rushdan
Cowboy State Lawman: Duty and Honor series #6. Harlequin Intrigue. Romantic suspense. Spin-off from Cowboy State Lawman series. Can be read as a stand-alone but some characters overlap.
Lawyer Summer Stratton is searching for evidence to prove a local company is poisoning the rivers and land of a small town in Montana. A friend of her’s was killed in an accident that Summer believes was a staged murder. The lawyer helping review files with Summer is also dead from a fishing accident. The police chief advises Summer to go home because the local company employs a lot of locals and it wouldn’t be smart to put them out of business.
Logan Powell travels to Montana to his cousins cabin and finds Summer under fire by an armed intruder. They are able to escape but threats continue with a snake, poisoned darts and more. Someone doesn’t want them investigating. Summer and Logan aren’t willing to give up.

Intense, gripping and suspenseful. Spellbinding writing. An author worth following. I’m marking my calendar for the new release.

Summer Stratton is an attorney on a mission to find out what really happened to her friend Dani. She is convinced that there is a cover up and that the report that her death was an accident is not telling the true story. Enter Logan Powell, a special agent with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, who was sent by his uncle to try to protect Summer since she is delving into things that the local big whigs don’t want anyone to know about. Summer’s grit and courage are admirable character traits and are well-portrayed by the author as is the dogged determination of Logan to keep her safe at all costs. There are a lot of twists as Summer and Logan investigate and plenty of danger as the suspect list increases. The mystery is compelling and relevant, dealing with a company that is possibly polluting the local waters and causing a lot of illness. The action is non-stop as Logan and Summer get out of one dangerous situation only to be forced to confront another one. I was intrigued by the way the relationship between the two progressed, from distrust, to kind of trust, to complete trust and ultimately to romance. I enjoyed the protectiveness of Logan countered by the independence of Summer and how they worked well together. I especially liked trying to figure out who the bad guy was, but the reveal was a real surprise, which was an added bonus for me since I enjoy unexpected surprises. This is a must read, the last book in the series, but all of the books in the Duty and Honor series can definitely be read as stand-alones. I enjoyed this book and its fast pace from beginning to end, my favorite part being the life-threatening scenes and how they managed to escape. Edgy and head-spinning, with tons of intense suspense, this is a must-read for fans of the Harlequin Intrigue series.

ARC review. Corralled in Cutthroat Creek is the final book in Juno Rushdan’s Cowboy State Lawmen: Duty and Honor book series. It definitely does not disappoint. I’m a huge fan of Juno’s because her writing style always pulls me into the book. Her characters are well developed and always have personalities or traits that make them perfect for the story. Their emotional interactions make their chemistry pop. The storyline is action packed and fast paced. The best part of her stories are the detailed investigations that keep the pages turning. You can’t go wrong when choosing a Juno Rushdan book.

Terrific conclusion to the series. The story opens with a bang as Summer searches for proof that her best friend did not die in an accident. Summer believes Dani was murdered because they were investigating a link between suspicious deaths and pollution caused by a local company. While searching Dani's house, an intruder fires shots at Summer before Logan's arrival scares him off.

Logan is Dani's cousin, and his uncle sent him to assist Summer. As Wyoming law enforcement, Logan initially is skeptical of Summer's claims that Dani's death was murder. However, subsequent attacks soon convince him.

The story's suspense was fantastic. It hooked me from the first page and kept me hooked to the end. As Summer and Logan delved deeper into their investigation, the intensity of the attacks increased along with the number of suspects. The snake scene had me on the edge of my seat until it was over. Several twists kept me guessing to the end, with an unexpected final revelation.

I liked Summer and Logan. Summer is focused and driven by her quest for the truth. She can be impulsive, which sometimes gets her in trouble. Logan is the Powell brother who is a little out of step with his siblings. While he grew up on their ranch, he doesn't consider himself a rancher.

I enjoyed the development of their relationship. They met a few years earlier and connected, but nothing came of it. When Logan's uncle asked him to help Summer, he jumped at the chance to see her again. Though their reunion got off to a rough start, there was no denying the sparks between them. But Summer is wary of forming a long-distance relationship with someone and insists on "friends only." I ached for Logan, who wants more but accedes to her wishes and backs off but doesn't give up. I loved the ending and seeing how they worked it out.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the author has next.

As a self-proclaimed romantic suspense junkie, I’m officially a hard-core Juno Rushdan fan now. I found her about five and a half years ago, and so far, I haven’t found a book of hers that I didn’t devour in only a few hours. I always know her books will be full of action, suspense, twists, turns, and thrills, leaving me begging for more. Corralled in Cutthroat Creek is the sixth (and looks like final) book in her Cowboy State Lawmen: Duty and Honor series, and I am officially sad we’ve (maybe??) reached the end. Each story is technically an interconnected standalone within the series, but I highly recommend reading all of the books in the correct order to better understand the family connections and how the secondary characters and their personalities fit into each successive book.

Logan and Summer have undeniable chemistry despite not knowing each other for long. There’s a lot of push/pull, will they or won’t they on top of the suspense, making the tension even higher. And even though there were times I thought Summer was a bit rash in her actions, she was a very sympathetic FMC. The plot was well thought out, the character development was on brand, and the twist definitely caught me off guard, which is a good thing in romantic suspense. There’s nothing worse than a good suspense being ruined by a very obvious villain, and Juno Rushdan always delivers a satisfying romantic suspense read.

With lots of twists and turns, this romantic suspense immediately sucked me in, and it didn’t let go until the final page. If you’re a true romantic suspense fan like I am, do yourself a favor and grab the entire series today!

This is the 6th book in the “Cowboy State Lawmen Duty And Honor Series.” I am an avid reader and lover of the romantic suspense genre. This is an entertaining read with its share of action-packed adventure, fast-paced, twists, turns, suspense, mystery, mayhem, page turner, romance, secrets, great characters and a plot that held me captive. Logan is a special agent with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and a cowboy. Summer is a lawyer on a mission that has a stalker hot on her trails. Logan and Summer share a past and the two never thought that they would meet up again. When Summer’s best friend dies, she is hell bent on finding out what happened to her. As Summer begins to asks questions about the death of her friend, she finds herself in danger and a stalker hot on her trails. Logan finds himself front and center and ready to step in to protect and keep Summer safe. As the two undercover evidence surrounding Dani’s death, they find themselves with getting more than they bargained for with their feelings get the best of them.

If you’re a fan of the romantic suspense genre you will most definitely enjoy reading “Corralled in Cutthroat Creek.” There are six books in this series that be read separately but are interconnected with some the characters showing up. All in all, I enjoyed this romantic suspense. Can’t wait to see what Juno Rushdan has in store for her readers next.

I received an ARC via the author Juno Rushdan and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

Attorney Summer Stratton is determined to prove that her best friend, Dani, did not kill herself while drinking and driving. It is very convenient that Dani died just as they were getting ready to file suit against a big corporation, Einhorn. Summer has arrived in town ready to rumble, even though it is immediately apparent that she is not welcome. She does not care. She has one mission and that is to prove Einhorn has been polluting the property in Cutthroat Creek, and they are responsible for her friend's death. She believes they will stop at nothing to keep their secret.

Logan Powell is Dani's cousin, and is in town to help. He comes into the house in the nick of time to save Summer, but not without a price.

The action picks up speed from that moment on. This dynamic dream team of Summer and Logan would be who I would want in my corner if I was in trouble. Logan is the muscle, but he also has brains to boot. His law enforcement background was definitely a plus for this mystery. Summer is fiery and determined with intellect as the cherry on top. I loved the whole premise of this story. It provided plenty of excitement with a little romance to go along with it. Einhorn picked on the wrong woman, and I loved watching her in action. This is another winner for the Cowboy State Lawmen series.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Gripping Romantic Suspense That Keeps You Turning the Pages
Summer Stratton is searching for evidence, and someone wants her silenced. With the town seemingly against her, she refuses to back down—her best friend’s death wasn’t an accident, and she won’t rest until the truth comes to light. But will she survive long enough to uncover it?
When Logan Powell finds her in danger, he steps in just in time. He hasn’t seen Summer in five years, but he’s never forgotten her. Now, as a cop and a cowboy, he’s determined to keep her safe—and help her expose the company suspected of poisoning the water supply. But as the threats escalate, so does the attraction between them. Can they bring a killer to justice while navigating the feelings neither of them expected?
This fast-paced story blends danger, determination, and simmering romance into a tightly woven suspense that had me hooked from the first page. Corralled in Cutthroat Creek is a must-read for fans of romantic suspense. I can’t wait to see what this author writes next.

From the first sentence Corralled in Cutthroat Creek (Cowboy State Lawmen: Duty and Honor Book 6) is one nail-biting action-packed story. Logan Powell arrives in the first chapter just in time to stop a life-threatening attack on Summer Stratton. Together they investigate a deadly car accident involving his late cousin who is also her late best friend. Summer is a rising lawyer while Logan is a special agent with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation. Together they make a solid determined team.

A story of small-town corruption, politics and big business cover-up. Greed is at the root of the problem even if people’s future, health and environment are in danger which puts Summer right in the crosshairs of death. Along the way of the intense intrigue is the hope for a brighter future, admiration and lasting love. This page turner has several twists that you know to expect from the amazing Juno Rushdan.

Logan Powell is in Montana because his cousin Dani has died. Summer Stratton, a lawyer, is in Montana because she thinks her friend Dani was murdered because of a lawsuit against a big company in the area, that she thinks is poisoning the water in the area. When Logan saves Summer from an attack at Dani's house and they learn that another lawyer who had been working with Summer has had a fatal "accident", Logan begins to believe that Summer is right.
This is not the first time these two have met, both remember that other time very well, and although nothing happened at that time, maybe this time will be different. But can bridging the distance between their homes, let alone surviving attempts on their lives, bring these two together?
Full of twists and surprises, thought I had figured out who the villain was, boy was I wrong. Great read.

In Juno Rushdan's Cowboy State Lawmen: Duty and Honor series, Corralled in Cutthroat Creek, action takes center stage as danger, suspense, and romance intertwine in an intense, high-stakes narrative.

The novel wastes no time pulling readers into its gripping storyline, filled with twists and pulse-pounding moments. Rushdan masterfully balances action and character development. Just when you think you have it figured out, Rushdan delivers an unexpected ending.

With its fast-paced action, well-drawn characters, and compelling romance, this book is fantastic for those who love a suspenseful read with heart-pounding action.

From the very first scene, Logan Powell and Summer Stratton leap off the page with undeniable chemistry. Their unexpected reunion under life-threatening circumstances immediately pulls you into the story, and Rushdan’s skillful pacing keeps the tension high from start to finish. As a former flame turned protector, Logan is a perfect mix of rugged cowboy charm and steadfast cop instincts, while Summer is a fierce and determined heroine whose bravery and heart make you root for her every step of the way.

The stakes are constantly rising as the threats against them escalate, and the mystery surrounding Summer’s best friend’s death kept me eagerly turning the pages. I especially appreciated how the romance grew naturally alongside the danger—there’s a real sense of emotional depth between Logan and Summer that makes their bond feel authentic and unshakable.

This was excellent! I really love Logan he is honest, persistent, modest and loyal.....when his uncle ask for help he jump at the opportunity to see his cousin's bestfriend who he had a crush on years ago...however he was not expecting Summer to be in such deep danger so he will need help to protect her .

Summer best friend Dani died and she is sure it's murder linked to an action they were building together against a company creating pollution and high health risk....feeling alone against the world she did not expect Logan, more than handsome Logan, to rush at her rescue and offer to work with her.

tension, secrets, building romance and lot of action, this is a great read for sure. can be read as stand alone without any difficulty but if read ibn irder it help understand Logan personnality even better

‘A silver lining.’

A thrilling end to the Cowboy State Lawmen: Duty and Honor series, yet filled with hope with the appearance of the men from IPS, Ironside Protection Service, who will lead the spinoff series by this wonderful author this autumn. In this installment Logan Powell steps out of his family’s shadow to serve and protect attorney Summer Stratton as she fights for justice for not only her murdered best friend, but a whole town. Wonderfully plotted with an ending I didn’t see coming!

With town names like Cutthroat Creak and Bitterroot Falls, you already know big things go down in these little small towns.

Logan and Summer are familiar strangers brought back together to solve a murder. These two are just so sweet with each other. Even in the midst of fighting for their lives these two have each others back. Although the feelings are accelerated, they are no less real.

Their love story as the back drop to this suspenseful story made this a real page turner.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this story.

Corralled in Cutthroat Creek is the 6th book in the Cowboy State Lawman series. This was an action packed story line. Summer and Dani had been best friends, when Dani is killed Summer comes to town to find out the truth of what happened. Logan is there to help out his family, to find out the reasons behind his cousin's death also. Logan and Dani do have good chemistry, and I would recommend this book to others. Throughly enjoyed this book. Strong mystery and action as well as romance. I did feel like Logan changed a bit from the person we met in the previous book but decided it was just flushing out his character more fully. I did feel like there was a setup for a spin off series and I’m happy to see one coming in the fall. This book can be read standalone.

Another winner by Juno. Summer is on a personal mission to find out what truly happened to her best friend and lands up in trouble early on. Logan, comes at the perfect time to save her. He was protective and smart. Both characters were worthy in their own right and the twists along the way made for an excellent quick read in my opinion.
