Psychiatrist and werewolf Calgary Caldwell has spent two decades hiding the rare magic he inherited, magic that allows him to project into minds and take away free will. But when the violent and unstable projectionist Matteo Rossi attacks his hometown of Blood Moon, Texas, abducting a young child from his pack, Cal will stop at nothing to get him back, even if it means using powers he’s so far refused to touch.

Fallon Gray spent three years as a prisoner of the Vampire Nation, part of their program of medical experimentation on wolf shifters. Her six-year-old son Jonah is everything to her. Now she works as a neural manipulator for the Tracers, the elite military branch of the werewolf council, and has been tasked with apprehending Matteo Rossi. Her feelings for Calgary Caldwell are a complication, and complications are one thing neither of them can afford while hunting a ruthless killer who seems to always stay one step ahead of them.

When Fallon gets an emergency call while out in the field, her world shatters. Matteo Rossi has her son and has set off a mental time bomb inside the neural pathways of someone close to the President. The clock is ticking, and Cal and Fallon will have to work together to bring Jonah home and eliminate Rossi before it’s too late.

TAKEN is the thrilling finale of the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series. Sizzling hot romance. Guaranteed HEA.

What a thrilling end to a long series which I was fortunate to read from the start years ago. Brimming with action and suspense, I was quite engrossed. Getting to know all the great characters all over, though a short refresher synopsis would have been great as book 6 was read a year ago, after the first few pages I was back in the swing with Blood Moon world of the Caldwell family, Zara and her vamp community hunting down Matteo Rossi. Fallon, such a strong and capable FC, still experiencing PTSD. Kidnapping, a twist of note that rocked and finally a HEA for Cal, brought a well rounded conclusion to this epic series.

Wonderful series. Each book was intense but this one was the one that kept me on the edge of my seat. Cal and Fallon and of course Jonah went through do much to finally get their HEA to have the circle continue and complete made this a perfect ending. Maybe one day there will be more on Jonah, Miles, Talluah and the other children but for now this story has reached a wonderful ending.

This has been such a great paranormal romance series, and I’m a little sad to say goodbye to it. I’ve loved following the Caldwell family and all of their swoon-worthy romances, and Taken delivered an epic, high-stakes finale that wrapped everything up so well. Out of all the books, this one definitely stands out as one of my favorites.

The plot is intense and fast-paced and focuses on the search for Fallon’s kidnapped son. Cal, Fallon, and some familiar faces from earlier in the series are thrown into a race against time filled with twists, danger, and a shocking revelation that shakes both the human and paranormal worlds.

Cal and Fallon are both interesting characters, and I was so excited to learn more about each of them. Both have trauma in their pasts and still struggle with these scars. Fallon’s strength and resilience, in particular, are inspiring. After surviving as a prisoner, she has built a new life for herself and her son, and she will do anything to keep him safe. As a psychiatrist and close friend of Fallon’s, Cal is an amazing support to her. Cal has always intrigued me, and learning more about his rare abilities and inner struggles made me root for him even more. And I love his bond with Fallon’s son, Jonah. Fallon, Cal, and Jonah already seem like a family because they are so close and have been through so much together.

The love story between Fallon and Cal is everything I hoped it would be! Their journey from friends to lovers has been a long time coming, and it was so worth the wait. I just love how gone Cal was for Fallon. He pined for her for a long time, and he was the most patient and understanding friend. The trust, connection, and deep love they share are so special, especially after everything they’ve both been through, and their romance is positively swoon-worthy.

Something else I’ve always adored about this series is the Caldwell family. Each member has such a distinct voice, yet together they form a loyal, supportive, and unshakable unit. This is a family that sticks together and supports each other no matter what. It’s been one of my favorite things about the series, and the way it all culminated in this book was perfect.

With nonstop action, some shocking surprises, and a wonderful romance, Taken was a great conclusion! And the epilogue made my heart so happy. It was the perfect wrap-up to the series.

Taken is the last book in the 7 book "Blood Moon, Texas Shifters" series that follows the Caldwell brothers as they find their mates and battle an increasingly dangerous shifter with psychic powers who is bent on revenge against their family. I loved all the ladies in the books, and Fallon, the FMC of Taken, is no exception. She is a gifted psychic and hardened soldier in the Tracers team of shifters who serve as the elite branch of the werewolf armed forces. Taken prisoner by the Vampire Alliance some years previously, she was subjected to medical experimentation and forcibly impregnated, giving birth to a crossbreed child who is now in kindergarten. Her PTSD and fear of physical relationship has made her swear off any hope of a future relationship.

Calgary "Cal" Caldwell is a psychiatrist with mindreading skills who was forced from his position at the hospital when mandatory blood screenings were instituted to identify paranormals. He is now dedicated to helping rescued victims, both shifter and vampire, reintegrate into life. After working with Fallon when she was rescued, he must struggle with the burden of knowing his fated mate is off-limits due to their doctor-patient relationship.

The secondary characters in this book are totally delightful. This series really should be read in order or you will be lost in the complexity of relationships formed over the course of the saga. The brothers hilariously battle it out on every front as anything and everything turns into a competition or challenge. But their love runs deep and their strong parents are the glue that holds the clan together. Even their pets are a hoot to get to know.

The action in the series and especially in this book is non-stop. Being the last book, epic battles are fought and the twists and turns prove that there is always a joker in the deck that shows up and throws a curveball. Just when I thought I had the players all on the table and figured out, blam, the author shot me down and threw the whole plot in a different direction. The ending is poignant and perfect and I was sorry to see the series come to an end.

My only complaints with this series is that the author, while giving some great insight into trauma, surviving abuse and PTSD, sometimes veered off very close to sermonizing about it. There were lots of same-sex couples, who were mentioned frequently and in a manner that seemed forced, like the conversation was designed around being able to mention their same-sex spouse. This seemed very contrived and like it was forcing a point that "Oh look, there is ANOTHER super happy same-sex couple!!". These interactions didn't really move the story along so they were jarring. (and no, I am not homophobic - I have beloved family members in long term happy same-sex relationships that I am very comfortable with) But once again, it felt almost sermonizing and detracted from the storyline.

There were also some scenes where the FMC and MMC got intimate that I just could not see happening while her son was missing. As a mother, the last thing on my mind would have been getting it on hot and heavy at that time. The stress of my kid being missing would have made that a total mood-killer, in my opinion.

Other than these few (and brief) annoyances, 99% of this book is totally awesome and i would recommend it to anyone who loves spicy paranormal romances!!.

I read an advance copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.

How do I start…well, for all that’s fanged and holy, what am I supposed to do now when the last book of the Caldwells’ saga is out and I just finished it? On the one hand, it feels extremely satisfying since the author gave every Caldwell brother and the world she created a well-deserved ending. While on the other, I feel sad that the waiting is over. The town of Blood Moon in Texas, with exactly six stoplights, which to the utter surprise of its inhabitants turned into a mecca for the fans of the supernatural after a vampire exposed the existence of his kind to the world during a traffic stop when he behaved nasty to a cop, has grown under my skin and I’m not ready to part with it.

Ok, with this schoolgirl’s whining out of my system, here is what I think about the book. “Taken” by Kat Kinney is the seventh instalment of the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series. It follows the trials and tribulations of Cal Caldwell and Fallon Gray, not only on the way to their happy-ever-after, but in the wild chase after a madman, Matteo Rossi, who wants to make the Caldwells and the whole world suffer.

Matteo Rossi, the only double-gifted werewolf in history, set his mind on making the Caldwell family pay for his shattered dreams. It doesn’t matter to him that they did what they did not to piss him off but to protect millions of innocents from what he could do if he’d gotten the elite training of the werewolf military organisation, the Tracers, or, even worse, climbed the ladder to its command. In his blind rage, Matteo doesn’t take into account that using his powerful magic haphazardly will lead to him gradually losing control over it. The only thing he craves is revenge. And he is ready to do the most despicable things to bring it on the Caldwells.

Fallon Gray is a tough girl. But a Tracer and one of the most powerful neural manipulators on the team she might be, she is also a mother. And when Matteo Rossi abducts her son, it takes more than she probably has not to lose her sanity during the frantic search for him.

“Taken” is a thrilling race of a book, packed with twists and turns, most of which I didn’t see coming. It is also replete with the heart-warming moments of family bonding – copious amounts of Texan cuisine involved! – I’ve grown to love. And yes, shapeshifters are passionate creatures, led by their instincts, so be prepared for some hot scenes. This summer, while waiting for the last book to land on my Kindle, I reread all the previous books, and I’m so glad that I did. It made the experience of saying goodbye to the Caldwells so utterly satisfying.

I’m definitely looking forward to the next books by Kat Kinney.

TAKEN is the seventh and final book in the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series, and I absolutely recommend you read the others first. This is not a standalone, and you will likely be confused by the number of characters, as well as the overarching arc of the series.

Now, I read book 6 a while ago, so forgive me if I can't remember just how Fallon and Cal met. However, when we catch up with them, they are still at the 'nothing can happen between us' stage. Fallon is a strong character, caught between her job as a Tracer and her six-year-old son, Jonah. The worlds collide when Jonah is kidnapped by Rossi. At the same time, President Payne's daughter is also attacked, leaving Fallon once again torn as she tries to do everything.

Told from both Cal and Fallon's perspectives, you get a full picture of what's going on both between them and the bigger picture with Rossi. Some of it is hard reading, especially when talking about children being kidnapped and abused. I can't really say the ending surprised me, as I've been waiting for it for a few books now. Still, it was a gripping and exciting read.

An epilogue gives a nice finale, although I was confused with all the names of the children, as not all of whom have been met previously.

So long as you start at the beginning, I have no hesitation in recommending this book or the series.

Full disclosure: This book is seventh in a series where it was my first, so pretty much all of the overarching storyline was new to me and, honestly, over my head. It made it really hard to get into the novel and buy into the chemistry between Cal and Fallon. Kat Kinney is a great author though, and eventually I did find myself rooting for them. Even so, I suspect that this book is more for readers who've tuned in to the whole series.

My experience with this author is with one of her cozy supernatural series, so I was a little surprised (but not put off by) by the racy scenes in this book. That said, while I understand the whole "it's a full moon, and I can't stop the feelings" bit, I did find it weird to engage in sexy times while her son was missing. Also, the book is told in alternating first person viewpoints, but the time was so similar, I frequently had to page back to remember whose chapter I was on.

Anyway, the characters are ones to root for, but there are tons of them, and it's frequently hard to remember who is with whom and the like. So while I'd recommend this book to series diehards, for newbies like me, I'd either suggest skipping it or tracking down and reading the first six books first.

I received an ARC of this book for free from the author and BookSirens. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!

Fantastic end to a fantastic series!

Fantastic end to a fantastic series! The world building, pop culture references, and descriptions of setting and magic has been a hallmark of not just this series, but really all of Kat Kinney's writing.

Kat Kinney is a must-read author for me and I've been enjoying this series since page one of book one. It's a fun concept for a series that truly delivers.

An element of the series I really enjoyed was getting to see the characters we love grow and develop, even once their story was told. And I really loved the epilogue, of getting a glimpse into all of their happily ever after. It really wrapped the series up nicely.
I felt like there was enough of a reminder of past events from previous books that if I picked up the series here, I wouldn't have been lost, either.

I appreciated how Kat Kinney did not shy away from a number of current events and tackled topics including trauma recovery. I also enjoyed the exploration of complicated decisions with no easy answer and when a good person deals with a terrible power.

The tension and suspense keeps you turning the page and watching the different threads come together really makes it a book that's impossible to put down. The twist was well done, too.

Highly recommend this book and this whole series!

Taken pulls you right back into the world with high stakes and strong emotional tension. I have been enjoying this series, and Kat Kinney does a great job here balancing urgency, character depth, and supernatural danger without losing the heart of the story.

Calgary Caldwell is a really interesting lead. His fear of his own abilities and the control he has maintained for so long adds weight to every decision he makes. Fallon Gray is equally compelling. Her past, her strength, and her fierce love for her son make the story feel personal and intense from the start. The threat against Jonah raises the emotional stakes in a way that feels very real.

The connection between Cal and Fallon works well. There is history, trust, and restraint between them that make their relationship feel earned. The romance is intense but never distracts from the urgency of the situation. Instead, it deepens it.

The suspense stays strong throughout. Matteo Rossi is a disturbing antagonist, and the ticking clock keeps the pace moving. The mental manipulation elements are handled in a way that feels dangerous without becoming overwhelming.

This was another engaging entry in the series. The stakes are high, the emotions run deep, and it kept me invested the whole way through.

As the seventh and final book in the Blood Moon series, this was a wonderful culmination of the trials faced by the Blood Moon members, especially Calgary (Cal) Caldwell and Fallon Gray. Cal can take away free will from others and Fallon is a talented neural manipulator for the Tracers. After she was kidnapped and imprisoned for several years, including being impregnated with her son Jonah, she escaped and was under the care of Cal, who is a psychiatrist. There has been an attraction between them for several years but never acted on…. until ‘Taken’.

A very disturbed shifter, Matteo Rossi, has kidnapped Jonah from his elementary school and the Caldwell family, as well as others connected to them, begin the search for Jonah. Kinney takes the reader through a dangerous path that includes multiple kidnappings and paranormal behaviors, few of which are positive. It is a “sit on the edge of your seat” story!

It can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the books in the series in order. Each book in the series is beautifully written, as Kat Kinney is a very talented storyteller. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Beside the story itself, what I liked most is the way the author delves into the very human world of politics, of the manipulation and abuse of power involved in modern day election campaigns. The more the digital tools evolve, the more prejudice spreads and the less empathy and tolerance triumph. The consequences of believing the words and promises of sleek individuals without using the ability of discerning truth are staggering, and the hope stemming from the narrow victory of rationality is what made me like the ending a lot.

I found the motivation of the characters very believable, the author has a keen insight into the psychology of trauma and a healthy understanding of the value of belonging.

Add good writing to an interesting plot and non-stop action with a strong suspense element and you will get this satisfying ending to the series.

This is a brilliant book that wraps up a fabulous series.
Quiet and serious Cal, finally gets a chance at his happily ever after, but of course things are not so simple and all of those twists and turns from earlier book in this series need answering. Fallon and Cal’s relationship is so well-written. I love the tension, romance, long-looks and the ups and downs that they go through. Poor Fallon is really put through the wringer in this one! I think that Jonah is very well-written also. I find that kids can be sickly sweet and annoying in stories, but he wasn’t and is very likeable.
One thing I like is that the previous couples feature heavily in this final book. It doesn’t feel forced and it balances out the story nicely.
I would love to have another series setting in this world and there are so many more opportunities in this lush world that can been created.
For now, this is a great story and it is a fitting ending to an excellent series.

Brilliant ending to the series

This is the last book in a great series by Kat Kinney, a lovely dark paranormal romance with wolf shifters, vampires and witches. It's full of action, drama, traumas, secrets, political troubles, great chemistry between the MMCs, tension, looks, passion and love, with a great six-year-old and a wonderful HEA. I have loved this whole series and would strongly recommend.

In this one we follow the last of the Caldwell brothers Cal, who's quiet and has spent years trying to hide his projection magic, and Fallon, who was a prisoner of the Vampire Nation for three years and now works with the tracers.

She's working with the team to capture Matteo, trying to avoid Cal as much as possible as being near him makes things complicated. But when her son is kidnapped they know they need to work together to save him, with feelings finally being admitted along the way.

This is the 7th & final installment of this incredible series!! Where each book is considered stand-alone, I highly advise you read them all (in order) to get the full experience from this series! I've had the pleasure to receive & review this series for Kat Kinney since she first began writing it. Her growth has shown over the years and this book series came to a great finale! The years of past characters, dilemmas, wars, and relationships are neatly brought together and left me feeling complete! Kat made sure to give all our beloveds their own HEA, and both Cal & Fallon were no exception! The story was packed with plenty of drama and tense scenes, some banter, our favorite Calwell pups, and the delicious barbecues, bakeries & coffee shops leaving me in a jealous hunger!

Spot on ending to a series that has seen the Caldwell family fight for peace, for acceptance, and to keep everyone safe, vampire, shifter, or human, and with the last brother finally claiming his mate the happily ever after for this group of brothers who have risked everything that you desperately needed. Cal and Fallon have been in the background patiently waiting for their turn and it's a gorgeous as easy as letting yourself fall and as complicated as making a misstep and losing it all romance that curls around you like a blanket of warmth, with safety, security, and stability and gives a kidnapping victim with PTSD and a doctor afraid he's too much of a risk, a love that gives them everything and the family they never thought they deserved.

A fantastic ending to a brilliant series that I was sad to say goodbye to

I was both excited and upset to pick up this book, knowing that we’d be saying goodbye to the Caldwell family. The series has hooked me from the beginning, and I’ve put down each book, declaring it was my favourite (and nothing has changed!).

Taken follows the last Caldwell brother, Cal, and his love interest, Fallon. As the overarching plot reaches its climax, Fallon’s son is kidnapped. My heart was in my mouth as the story continued at a fast pace with unexpected twists.

I love that the book includes all the other characters and updates us on their lives.

A fantastic ending to a brilliant series that I was sad to say goodbye to. I can’t wait to see what the author writes next!

I found myself completely engrossed in this captivating novel, and it's without a doubt a fantastic and truly memorable installment in the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series! From the moment I opened the book, the storyline captivated me, expertly blending an incredibly engaging plot with unexpected twists and thrilling narrative turns that kept me on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating every next chapter. However, what truly resonated with me the most was the dynamic and engaging character interactions; they felt remarkably natural and believable, adding layers of depth and richness that elevated the overall reading experience to a whole new level, making it a truly unforgettable read.

As a series finally this one was fantastic. The tension, suspense and surprise keeps your attention on the edge as the vampires and shifters are searching for children that were taken. The twists and turns revealed many socking surprises but they finally conquer their enemy. The tender romance between Cal and Fallon melts your heart. The best is the last chapter looking into the future where the Caldwell boys are all softies when it comes to pets that don’t listen to them. Guess the chaos lives on as more peaceful times prevail.

I absolutely loved Taken, the seventh and final book in the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series! In this conclusion, Kat Kinney delivers a thrilling, emotionally charged ending full of danger, sizzling chemistry, and lots of heart. Cal and Fallon’s journey kept me turning the pages, and it truly felt like the perfect ending to an incredible series.
I’ve enjoyed every instalment of the Blood Moon series, and this ending was exactly what I hoped for. Watching Cal and Fallon finally find happiness after everything they went through was deeply satisfying. I’m hesitant to say farewell to this world, but that just means I’ll be starting one of Kat Kinney's other series.

The Caldwell family drew me in from the first page of Dark, book one in this series, and as it comes to its conclusion with Taken, I have to say I hate to say goodbye. Taken is Calgary, Fallon, and Jonah’s story, and I must say this one is a doozy. More than once, I had full-body chills while reading.
But don’t worry. The characters face some truly dark days, but they are filled with the joy and love of family and friends and the simple pleasures in life that make life worth living.
This was an epic conclusion, a perfect ending to a world I don’t actually want to leave, and as always, I’ll be waiting for this author to drop something new.

This is book 7 and I love them all. Kat has given us an insight into this family. We have gone through kidnapping, death, despair, love, kids and like any family all the trials and tribulations. This book is about one of the twins Cal who is a phychologist and now works for the pack and the feelings he has for Fallen that cannot happen because of doctor/patient relations are not allowed. This is one of the best series.

“Taken” by Kat Kinney is the thrilling, spicy, and satisfying conclusion to her wonderful “Blood Moon, Texas Shifters” series, and it’s a definite page-turner! The story centers upon Cal and Fallon, both struggling with their pasts, and both irrepressibly drawn to each other. When Fallon’s son, Jonah, is kidnapped by Mateo Rossi, the story amps up with the tension with several twists and plenty of intrigue before we reach the final pages! This has all the wonderful comradery and romance readers have come to expect from this series. Bravo!

I have been reading these slowly as Kat has been releasing them and the series is brilliant! I love how the series links together and how each couple's story is its own story. Watching the characters change and grow over the series has been good and it was a satisfying ending. The final story in the Caldwell families story.
I have enjoyed the whole series. Seeing each of them find their mates; grow into wonderful men. Accepting their “powers”; and still being able to see justice to the end.
It was rough reading about children being kidnapped, used and abused for bartering chips. Their lives being inconsequential.
There were many situations in the series where lives were considered less.
Everything was wrapped up quite nicely.
Thanks Kat for an enjoyable series.

Fallon is strong, passionate and protective over her child. Fiercely loyal to ones who deserve it, she puts aside almost everything to track down and capture those who pose threats to the para community. Dealing with the trauma of her own captivity and the resulting PTSD is not easy although staying focused has benefits. But when her own child is kidnapped, her inner strength emerges and she shows just how dangerous poking a mama bear can be.

A perfect ending

I’ve been reading this series for years now, always anticipating the next release. While I’m sad that it has ended, I adore the journey that we got to go on. High stakes, great characters, easy banter and the true rooted family that I know I always crave. Cal, Fallon and Jonah’s story completes the story on the right note, with messages of healing and hope after everything that war can bring.

This series is a must read!
