LIAN The Hunter: Lian isn’t a happy puma. He’s a lethal Hunter who should be out fighting the enemy, not babysitting a human scholar. Still, he’ll do whatever necessary to rid the world of the evil goddess, Shakpi. And there’s the bonus of spending a few hours away from his family of Nurturers who have been smothering him with love. The last thing he expects is to discover a female who not only stirs his passions, but who calls to his cat on a primal level. The Scholar: Dr. Sage Parker has always known she’s different. Not only because she’s a genius with languages, but because she has a weird ability to see auras around people. It’s no wonder that she prefers to remain secluded in her small cottage. Then Lian charges into her life, dragging her out of the safety of her home and forcing her to travel to the Wildlands. Even more dangerously, he touches a place in her heart that she shut off long ago. Now, to claim the future she never dreamed possible, she must translate the ancient Pantera scrolls before Shakpi destroys the male she loves.
ROCH Brilliant Diplomat Roch is devoted to his work. The sexy, blond male wants nothing more than to keep his life just as it is. But when he falls ill, he’s forced to find help in the human world. Who would’ve guessed that the cure he needs is a human woman carrying the next Pantera child?
Attorney Lydia Page has not only been fired from her job for being pregnant, but the clinic where she was inseminated wants her to end the pregnancy because she’s carrying an ‘animal.’ Shocked and scared, Lydia has nowhere to turn. She loves her unborn child, and soon realizes that the only way to keep herself and her baby safe is to accept the help of a mysterious and very handsome puma shifter. But could the stranger be more than just her rescuer?
I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.
Years later (no, I'm not admitting how many) I'm still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!
I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.
"Hello my name is Lydia." "I'm Roch. Will you mate me and have my babies?"
It's getting tiring the insta-love in these books. Ok it's understandable with the shifter gene comes the instinct and the knowing of one's mate, but most of the times it's simply non-realistic. I intended to read these books because the sub-plot, the mystery and the villains were more interesting than the various romances but I'm beginning to think that it simply doesn't worth my time any more.
Seems like these stories are getting even shorter :(
I have to be honest and say that this series has nearly run it's course with me, the only reason I am willing to carry on is because I already have the next 2 books otherwise I'd give up right now. The back story running throughout the series seems to have lost it's steam and the shortness of them means there isn't a chance to establish a relationship/connection between the H/h.....Good writing, shame about the stories!! :(
These stories are always just kinda meh. I keep hoping they will be better but oh well. So two more meh stories. I liked the second one better. Lian is ordered to bring back a translator of historical documents, thinking the PHD is some elderly hermit. Instead he finds a young woman. There's a big show down with Shakpi at the end and I was kinda glad to get that over with as the whole shakpi thing was getting pretty tiresome.
Roch is a slut. But he's seriously off his manho game when he starts barfing all over the apartment of his latest threesome. He feels compelled by his ailing stomach to travel to New Orleans and meet a pretty lawyer eating beignets. Only to find out that she's been artificially inseminated with Pantera sperm. Despite Roch's pervy introduction, I did enjoy this story more than the first half with Lian. The new bad guys are more believable than some retarded evil goddess. I liked how Roch transforms from a man who goes from one random fling to another, to a devoted lover to Lydia. Pretty insta, I admit, but sweet. You can guess the obvious twist on whose sperm she got pregnant by.
Both of these stories were excellent! Yeah - the series is gaining momentum! Plus we got a scene with Ashe and Rafael and Solaya!!!
I enjoyed the chemistry between Lian and Sage. And the advancement of the story was significant but we did not lose their relationship.
I loved Roch. He had a moment of stupid. But it was quickly over and he made up for it spectacularly! Cannot wait to find out who the baby daddy is!!! (Oh - Roch was the first really obvious manwhore. Yuck. But that was over for him in a big way!)
I am so pleased to have two stories I really enjoyed!
One small rant. What is up with the name Roch? I have no idea how to pronounce it. Th wonky two ways I can come up with either rhyme with crotch or roach. Neither of which I want to be thinking about during a romance! Any other ideas are appreciated as this really bothered me the entire time I was reading the story!
Bayou Heat Each book contains two short stories and tells a little more about the Pantera.
Lian/Roch are the 9th and 10th installments in the Bayou Heat series. This is the continuing series about the Pantera who live in the Wildlands of Louisiana. Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright do a wonderful job writing this series. They have similar styles that compliment one another’s storylines. The males in this series are very hot and sexy. The females are strong in their own way and complement each counterpart.
Lian/Roch are quick short reads with an insta-love quality as each Pantera finds his mate of the heart. We are introduced in Lian’s story to new characters as well as old ones show up. Shapki meets her end in book 9. Her ending felt anticlimactic. There should have been more after everything she put the Pantera through. Roch’s story introduces us to a new enemy. This new threat is not very clear, only that they want the Pantera DNA.
Ms. Ivy and Ms. Wright have given us a seductive series with heartbreak, betrayal, alienation and love. With just enough steamy sex to keep everyone entertained.
This the third and fourth book in the Bayou heat series which is about shapeshifters. The series is written by two author who in each addition write a book. The stories have interesting characters and have a good plot line. My only complaint is that the stories are very short, they should be at least 50 pages bigger.
Lian - Alexandra Ivy - 3/5 - Now that the Pantera have an unconscious Shakpi imprisoned, they need to figure out how to destroy her. Thus, we bring in Dr. Sage Parker, an expert in ancient languages, but with a magical boost to her. She’s always been afraid of her gifts and a bit of a hermit besides. Raphael sends Lian, a hunter, to bring Sage to the Wildlands so that she can translate a scroll which may contain the solution to their Shakpi problem. Lian knows that Sage is his mate as soon as he meets her...and that she’s a Shaman, meant to work with the Pantera. She trusts him, reluctantly, but Lian realizes he’s put her in danger and does everything he can to protect her. But now that she’s where she belongs in the Wildlands, he needs to ease her into accepting her life as his mate and their new Shaman.
A good, solid story. This heavily relies on the “mate connection” being interpreted as insta-love. Lian doesn’t know the first thing about Sage, but he’s ready to spend his life with her. And she barely knows him, but same goes...but fortunately, she comes with quite a bit more baggage, fears and quirks that add a nice touch of angst to their relationship. Lian is perfectly patient with dealing with all of that. The sex, as ever, is hot. The focus is more on that than on any emotional connection (but it’s still there). I did feel like some loose ends kinda got overlooked...like the fact that Sage frickin summoned Opela (everyone just gonna ignore that?) or the fact that Sage left everything she ever owned back at her house and she hasn’t given one single thought about any of it or what happened to Chayton? I do like that we’ve finally moved on from the Shakpi storyline on to something seemingly more sinister. And I’m wondering if anyone else is gonna start having babies.
Roch - Laura Wright - 3/5 - Well, question answered. More babies. Lydia is a human who went through artificial insemination and is given a rude awakening when she finds out she’s been impregnated with a Pantera baby and the people who did it want to forcibly terminate her pregnancy. Meantime, Roch and the other diplomats are trying to interrogate Hiss, but Roch feels sick. He lets his puma take over and finds himself in New Orleans, scenting out Lydia. Long story short, he’s attracted to her like they’re mates, but he realizes she’s pregnant and the possibility that the child might belong to another Pantera male sort of gets in their way.
Another good solid story which further develops the plotline with the new villain. Now we get into messing with DNA and all that. This also heavily relies on insta-love between Roch and Lydia since they know next to nothing about each other, but they have some pretty good chemistry once it gets going later on. That whole pregnant by some mysterious guy thing sort of messes with their chemistry for a while. Roch eventually gets his head on straight and his apology and declaration of love is positively gooey, yummy romantic. Just wish the angst had been drawn out a bit longer beforehand.

Love these stories-they are short and tasty. Kind of like a great appetizer when you're having a crap day. Lian and Dr. Parker were precious, but my favorite was Roch and his woman, Lydia, and those strong morning sickness attacks. I loved that little quirk of the story. Another baby...but who is this new enemy? It's not Shakpi...which that was kind of anticlimactic, but still, who is it? The mystery continues!
These are short, sweet erotica, with an overarching paranormal fantasy plot. I liked both but thought they both need a little longer development. They are bit short even for novellas though the overarc seems to save the story line and the bond (insta love) helps with the relationship. Of the two, Lian just seemed to have less direction. Roch seemed more involved.
I listened to this and the narrator pronounces New Orleans (new or-lee-ans), most southerners will say New or-leens or if actually from there Norlins, so every time she said the city name, I cringed with the extra syllable. These characters are from the area, not from the north.
Seems like these stories are getting shorter and shorter as we go along. It's hard to make a connection between the characters and get to know them when they are so short. Plus I'm getting a little tiered of the instant mate connection. I'm glad they wrapped up the goddess plot and I'm curious to see where this will go so I'll read the next one at least.
2,5/5 for the subplot Nothing original in the couples' stories, it's only insta love in every novellas from the beginning of the story, and if it can be believable for the Panteras, it's more difficult to believe for the all humans' mates. The only thing that was funny in the second novella here is the fact the hero has morning sickness even before learning the heroine is pregnant. At last the subplot is progressing, even if a bit slowly.
The Hunter: Lian isn’t a happy puma.
Not only because she’s a genius with languages but, because she has a weird ability to see auras around people.
ROCH (by Laura Wright)

REVIEW:
: LIAN/ROCH are the ninth and tenth instalments in the contemporary, paranormal romance BAYOU HEAT novella series co-written by Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright. This is the continuing series about a group of feline shifters known as the Pantera who live in the Wildlands of Louisiana. When one threat against their existence is finally neutralized another threat comes from an unknown source.
Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright have written an amazing series that focuses on discrimination and the extinction against and (of ) a supernatural species. The authors’ combined efforts and ability to write a series together is heightened by their similar styles that compliment one another’s storylines.
BAYOU HEAT is a paranormal romance series where the Pantera male will discover that there is someone for everyone but not necessarily of the Pantera world. There is an insta-love quality to the series as each Pantera finds the mate of his heart and knows she is his forever. Ivy and Wright have penned a seductive series about heartbreak, betrayal, alienation and love. There is a little bit of everything in the Bayou Heat series and just enough steamy sex to keep you turning the pages.
"Bayou Heat: Lian - Roch" by Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright. Book 9 & 10 of the Bayou Heat novella series.
Ooohhh! I'm loving this series! Each novella is revealing more and more about the Pantera and their fight against the evil goddess Shakpi.
The book starts with LIAN by Alexandra Ivy.
Lian is a Hunter for the Pantera. He is on a mission to find and bring back Dr. Parker, an expert on ancient languages. The Pantera have uncovered some scrolls that may be able to help them defeat the evil goddess Shakpi but they need Dr. Parker's help in reading the scrolls. When Lian finds Dr. Parker's house, he never expected to be caught in a net by beautiful female who instantly makes his cat purr.
Sage can't believe someone is trying to break into her house! When she catches him, she can't believe how gorgeous he is. Oh, and he's not human. Lian is Pantera and he needs her help. But he needs her to leave with him to go to the Wildlands and she just can't do that. It's too dangerous for her to leave the house. Now, her life is on the line, as well as many others, and she's the only one that can help. Can she trust Lian to protect her? Will she be able to translate the scrolls in time to save the Pantera from an evil goddess?
The story ends off in a conclusion to the first storyline of the series and leaves us with another cliffhanger ending starting a new storyline. Two Pantera are taken hostage and the kidnappers want a trade...the two Pantera for the release of HISS!!
The next story ROCH by Laura Wright, starts off a new ongoing storyline.
Roch is a Diplomat, a Suit, for the Pantera. He's been feeling ill recently and that's not usual for a Pantera. His puma is on edge and wants to take over. When he gives in to his puma, he's inexplicably drawn to a woman he has never met. She's the most gorgeous woman he's ever seen...and she's pregnant.
Lydia is pregnant with a half-Pantera baby. Nobody but the fertility clinic knows this, but now she's being followed by a guy (a gorgeous one at that) that knows her secret. Oh, and he's Pantera!! He wants nothing but to help her and her unborn child. But can she trust this stranger? Can she trust this unknown new world of the Pantera?
Loved this storyline between Roch and Lydia! Talk about steamy romance! Great emotional struggles between the two. The ongoing back story is really getting interesting. And right at the end, we find out what happens to the kidnap victims. And once again, a bit of a cliffhanger as to what might happen next!
I love this series! Can't wait to read the next one.

I liked the storyline in Lian between Lian and Sage. It was well written, engaging, fell well within the series too and it sort of concluded part of the main story arc. Which I was happy about because I wondered how long this villain was going to be around for but happily there's a newer villain now and I think it should be good.
ROCH Brilliant Diplomat Roch is devoted to his work. The sexy, blond male wants nothing more than to keep his life just as it is. But when he falls ill, he’s forced to find help in the human world. For possibly the first time I didn't like the story by Laura Wright. I just didn't like Roch. I thought he was a selfish, immature jerk and Lydia could do better but I enjoyed the way Roch {the story not the character} furthered the overall story arc that has being going on with this series and helped flush out the newer part of the storyline.
As always this is just to let you know before reading my review that I write my reviews as I am reading so I don’t forget anything I wanted to say. So please keep that in mind when you reading this and if it seems like I am making any guesses as to what MIGHT happen this is why.
Lian Hmmm…Lian is delicious and Sage is one lucky woman. Book 9 starts almost immediately where 8 ended…Lian is sent to retrieve Dr. Parker to bring her back to the Wildlands in order to read the scrolls the Pantera found that is written in an ancient language. Going into this mission Lian was under the assumption that Dr. Parker was an older man…when he comes face to face with Sage who is a 33 year old woman his cat instantly wants her. Sage has always been a little different and has such stayed a recluse because of it. When she comes face to face with Lian her body comes alive and she doesn’t know how to handle it.
There seems to be not only old but new dangers in store for the Pantera as Lian is trying to get them back to the Wildlands and to safety. This was a great story and I really love this dual series with Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright…we get two writing styles and one amazing story.
Roch Laura Wright does an amazing job at writing headstrong males…Roch is not only headstrong but completely clueless to what is going on with his emotions not to mention why he is suddenly sick (which I have my theories…let’s see if I am right). And the plot thickens…
Again with the cliffhangers (well not really a cliffhanger but it just ends)… So we have a brand new enemy on our doorstep, and my theories about the cub were right…I called who the father is. Back to this new enemy…things look to be getting to an extreme high with this new threat…Hiss is still being held prisoner and I’m not to sure what will happen with him but I am looking forward to finding out.
I can’t wait until the next installment of this series comes out, I really love this series as a whole and I love that these two authors write so seamlessly with one another. This is another great book and I highly recommend this series...if you haven't read it then you should because it's an amazing series.
Bayou Heat is a great series. I've loved every book, every story. Each book contains two short stories. Each telling a little more about the Pantera. Puma shifters who live in a magical, sacred land deep in a Louisiana bayou.
Lian Lian is tasked with hunting down and convincing a professor of ancient languages, to return with him to the Wildlands. Hoping he can help decipher the old scrolls, in hopes of finding a way to rid them of the evil goddess bent on destroying them and their homeland, by using the blood of the first Pantera cub born to them in fifty years. But what Lian is not expecting, is to find the stodgy old professor, is actually a very lovely young woman, who his cat knows instantly his his new mate. Now, the cat just has to convince the male of this. And getting the stubborn female to go along would probably be a good idea as well.
Roch To say Roch likes females, would be an understatement. So when his night out ends with him sick and sleeping the night away on the couch, instead of with the chosen female, he's not sure what is going on. All he knows is he has work to do, but he can't seem to shake this bug. But his cat knows what's wrong, and sets him on a path to remedy what ails him. Lydia is having a tough day. She's been fired from her law firm, found out the child she is carrying is not completely human, met a gorgeous man who says he's not human, and escaped an armed gunman in her apartment. Now she is in a strange, beautiful land, surrounded by puma shifters and their human mates being treated like a queen because of the miracle child she is carrying. If only she knew which of the males was the father of her child. The only one she wants is Roch, but he won't claim her as his own. He won't take her away from the male who is the father if her cub.
This is a series that must be read in order. Each story is like one long chapter of an even longer book. You really need to read them from the beginning to get the complete story. It's worth it. They are quick reads, well written and very sexy.
First let me say I read / listened to this book in audio format via audible.com. I always choose the audios as the narrators tend to breathe life into the stories like a heart beat. Audio books also leave me hands free to do other things such as chores or driving my car and still read at the same time!
This is my first read by these authors. After hearing it, I look forward to the entire set. I enjoyed listening to this book very much! I enjoyed it so much that I listened to the whole book in 1 sitting!
Lian... In the 1st section, Lian the great Hunter is on a mission to find Dr Sage Parker because Dr Parker can ready hieroglyphics and many languages. Lian is shocked to discover the great Dr is a woman and instantly starts to fall for her! Lian take Dr Parker (Sage) back to the Wildlands. The story continues from there....
Roch... Roch is sick and ventures out to find human help. He meets Lydia and senses he knows her from somewhere. They exchange words and Roch learns she is pregnant with a cub (artificially inseminated). Lydia is upset as she is a lawyer and just got fired . Her bosses want her to get rid of the cub. Roch takes Lydia back to the Wildlands where they are happy and amazed that this happened and welcome her with open arms.Does Roch find love? Read it and see...
This book was so much fun! The authors Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright captured my interest right away. I loved where the stories went and look forward to starting this series from book 1. The narrator, Emily Beresford is one of my favorite narrators and the reason why I chose this book, because she narrated it! With her multiple voices, accents and excitement, she always makes the stories so much fun to listen too! Kudos to all of you!
I have read all of the Bayou Heat (Pantera - Puma Cat Shifters) books and I never get tired of them. Each are similar but different in their own way. Bayou Heat is a great series. I've loved every book, every story.
Lian Lian is tasked with hunting down and convincing a professor of ancient languages, to return with him to the Wildlands. Hoping she can help decipher the old scrolls, in hopes of finding a way to rid them of the evil goddess bent on destroying them and their homeland. But the professor was more than what Lianwas expecting. Instead of finding an old stodgy guy he finds the woman his cat knows instantly is his mate. Man and cat just have to convince said mate not only that she needs to be in the Wildlands but that she is also his mate.
Roch Roch is sick but doesn’t know why. But his cat does, and sets him on a path to remedy what ails him. His cat leads him directly to a pregnant woman that is not just pregnant but pregnant with a Pantera cub. Rescuing the woman and taking her to the Wildlands to keep her safe until they can figure out who the father of the cub is. The come to care for each other but Roch won't claim her as his own. He won't take her away from the male who is the father of her cub.
This series should be read in order. Each book contains two short stories and each story tells a bit more about the Pantera. They are all worth the read. They are quick reads, well written and very sexy. I hope Ms. Ivy and Ms. Wright continue this series for a very long while.
Another good installment for the series. Some answers were found to the threat to the Wildlands in Lian's story. It was a tad bit frustrating how quick and un-climatic the resolution was though. With the stories being so short, there really isn't much of a chance to draw a broader picture I guess. I was thinking "That was it?". I know there were 6 previous novella's that built up to it, but it was still a bit disappointing for how important it was made out to be. Of course that wasn't all she wrote though. In the epilogue, it was shared that there is still something else out there trying to destroy the Wildlands and the Pantera race. It will be nice to change tactics a bit for the next few novellas.
As for Lian and Sage, there story followed the same theme as the rest. They are drawn together and need to find out why. I do like that Sage isn't a Pantera, but a human with abilities she doesn't understand. I loved how she responded to Lian and the fact that he left his long hair unbraided for her to run her hands through, LOL.
Roch and Lydia's story had similar tones as the rest, but thankfully found a new spin. Another Human/Pantera mating with the human finding acceptance with this different world in the Wildlands pretty quickly. It was sweet how she protected the unknown straight from the beginning and I enjoyed having Ashe/Raphael, Julia and Genevieve show up in more than just name only in this story. Keeping up with all the other mates is what I enjoy in a series like this and am glad it was finally used more.
Lian is sent to find a human scholar who may be able to decipher the ancient scrolls and save the Pantera by preventing Shakpi from returning from her current stasis form.
He finds Sage, a somewhat shut-in and is instantly attracted. This story is a return to the focus on the romance. The Shakpi storyline is resolved somewhat neatly and in a bow, but there is another faction that is attempting to cause mayhem in the Wildlands.
I liked Lian and Sage very much, their romance is sweet and sexy.
Roch by Laura Wright book 10
Roch will do whatever it takes to save his people but he's been suffering from an ailment that leaves him nauseous. He is inexplicable drawn to New Orleans where is drawn like a beacon to Lydia.
Lydia, a single attorney has been artificially inseminated (which she wanted) but apparently the father of her child is Pantera. The place she was inseminated is shady and the official want her to terminate her pregnancy immediately.
When Roch finds her, he is drawn to her and wants to take her back to the Wildlands. Knowing her child is Pantera, Lydia wants to find out as much as she can about the shifters.
Could Roch possibly be the father of her cub, and is that why he is drawn to her. They have a sweet romance and I liked them together.
As the series progress we move on to Lian a hunter who is ordered to bring back a doctor of languages to help decipher what a scroll that may help destroy Shakpi. Sage is that doctor, although Lian believes the doctor to be a male. Sage holds up in her home because she feels like a outcast to due her abilities, yet she is in the top of her field when it comes to reading ancient languages. Now they have to make it make to the wetlands before Shakpi's followers try to stop them at any cost. The puma males are all alpha which of course makes for an interesting trip and romance.
Next: Roch and Lydia Roch is a suit and is having a really bad day. He finds himself sick (which is rare) and wanders into New Orleans following his instincts. What he finds is Lydia sitting in a coffee shop and has an instant need to be near her. Lydia just found out the baby she is carrying could be a puma cub. When she accidently reveals this to Roch he takes her back to the wetlands. He doesn't understand the need to have her as his yet must. Lydia is welcomed into their folds and can't fight her attraction to Roch. Together they learn the nature of her pregnancy and find love where neither had expected.
Both well told, both stories were no less than what I would expect of these two wonderful authors. I look forward to reading the next books. Highly recommended.
1) Lian. Typical guy, but I like him. He does think his way is the only right way. Even if no one answers the door, it still doesn’t give you right to just walk in. Plus he’s mad that she was able to trap him, but would he have preferred her living there defenseless? Otherwise I love how for once the female is living somewhere where he has to come and court her, instead of being trapped at his mercy. And it’s nice for once to have the guy acknowledge that he needs to earn the lady’s trust not just expect it.
2) Roch. He’s a ladies man who only cares about his own needs. But he gets what he deserves and when he meets Lydia he does care for her even though he has to put the baby’s needs first. But it never really says why he got sick and are we going to find out her the father is?
Quick Thoughts: 1) I love how these stories all take place mostly in the wildlands instead of wandering off away from the starting location. Shows there can be enough characters and stories without having to spread out. I read one series that started with these guys found in an ice cave and we never went back again.
2) I like the way the series is going with having to find the impregnated females.
Fave Scenes: 1) the magic net and the summoning. 2) Lasagna and the visit at the swimming pool.
LIAN: We see a playful side of Lian when his girl is around, "he chuckled, rubbing his cheek against her smooth skin with a gesture that was pure feline. "I'm deciding whether or not I intend to play with you before I pounce." Sage knows how to tease her man good and plenty, "on cue his entire body went up in flames, his erection pressing painfully against his zipper. "oh hell, Dr. Parker, you might be a genius, but your timing sucks," he growled." When our boy is down all he wants is his girl to make him feel better, "frustrated," he corrected. Pulling up the sheet that covered his naked body he sent her a smile of smoldering invitation. "Join me." ROCH: Roch he's a good kitty one that wants to take away his girl's problems, "tell me, his cat purred from inside his chest. Tell me what's wrong and I'll fix it. Whatever it is." He's very animalistic when it comes to Lydia, "his heart was slamming against his ribs, and every animal-like instinct he possessed wanted to pick her up and take her away. Maybe to his house. His bed. Claim her. Kill anything and everything that tried to get near." I love these books and I'm always looking forward to the next installment.
Bought and read years previously but review I posted from the back of the book is missing. Do not be expecting a full on, complete characterisation and in-depth series. You will not get it. This is not a deep and fully developed world, you glean bits and pieces as you go along, getting to know more characters and situation as things happen. Each story is a follow on, sometimes with a cliff hanger. So I suggest starting at the beginning to best understand the who’s and what’s of this world. But it is a fun and intriguing series of short stories that slowly develop into a great read. 9 - LIAN Very enjoyable addition to this series but this really should have been a longer, more in depth book. We get a great new addition to the pride with Dr Sage Parker. Sage has some very interesting abilities which help the Pantera immensely against Shakpi. I will say I found that part of the story over too quickly. 10 - ROTH We get rid of one problem hurting the Pantera and now seem to have an even worse one emerging. Another insta love story with a slight twist. No real explanation of why Lydia went to the Haywood centre?
parts 9 and ten introduce new characters along with a few old ones. Shapki' s story line is closed in book 9 but it didn't feel right. it was such a nice ending, if that makes sense. after all the trouble she caused, I was expecting her to go out with a bang, instead it was a poof!
book ten introduces a new threat, although that threat isn't very well explained, except that they want DNA off the Pantera.
and they seem to be getting shorter. maybe it just me, I dunno. it was better than 7 and 8 but not as good as the early ones.
Bayou Heat #9 & 10 Lian/Roch Lian, by Alexandra Ivy & Roch by Laura Wright
October 10, 2014 - I enjoyed these two stories more than I did the last book, but I still felt that they were rushed and that large chunks of information were skipped over and not really dealt with. The overall story arc was ended and a new story arc has begun, neither of which I have found satisfactory, but as I'm in it for the romance aspect of the stories and not the overall story arc. That's why I gave these stories a 3.5 star rating.
I really like these characters and the world of the Wildlands, I wish the story line was better and each book a little longer. It's a shame to see a series with so much potential getting worse with each addition instead of better.
As usual, my biggest complaint is that I could use another 200 pages or so! I love this world- I'm very interested in seeing what will develop since one door closed and another is opening (how's that for mystery since I don't like to give spoilers?)
I really do suggest that you not try reading this before reading the other stories in this world. You should get some of the background before jumping in with this book (I suggest them all since they're very quick reads).
