‘I have read almost every dark academia or dark academia adjacent book and All The Devils was SOOO refreshing. The romance, the storyline, the plot. I practically devoured it!’ 5 ***** Reader Review
‘Dark academic? Witchy vibes? Art history? Sprinkle of romance? All a recipe for a 5* read in my opinion. The characters and the scenery were all exquisitely, especially when we went to the Underworld. The twists just kept coming when it came to Jae and I spent a good deal of time picking my jaw up off the floor' 5 ***** Reader Review
'If you love dark academia, secret societies and the supernatural then this book is perfect for you. I adored this book and won’t be forgetting it anytime soon' 5 ***** Reader Review
This takes place a year later????? Andy will be enrolling in a university to investigate the Order???? Here's to hoping she's no longer an idiot-child 🤞🏻😂
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for approving me to read this book, I’m rating it 4.0 stars.
Omg we are so back! I didn’t anticipate a second book in the story, but I’m so glad we have one. From the events of book 1 we navigate a new threat to the order of life and death. Magic is at the forefront of this story again and it’s as dark and intimidating as ever. I really enjoy the dark academic vibes of this story with a little romance.
This is a story that uses myth, magic and death to create a story with twists and horror. There’s gods and cult like secret societies at the heart of the story and our FMC is really up against it trying to figure out the truth of whats happening. I find the clues that the characters follow in this story so interesting and satisfying once they put things together.
This story allows our FMC to explore who she really is and what her magic can do, we see a lot of growth from her in this book and she goes through quite a lot of turmoil again. I love that we get some returning characters that bring a lot to this book just as much as they did in book 1. I feel like there’s potential for a book 3 and I’d love to read it!
This was a fast paced, plot focused, and engaging read, following closely in the footsteps of the first book, All the Devils. The initial chapter offers concise callbacks to the previous instalment, which is excellent for any reader hoping to skip a full reread. However, the handover between the two books feels so seamless that enjoying them back to back would absolutely be the peak reading experience.
This book is absolutely dripping with yearning. Proper, delicious, slow burn yearning. Our main guy remains ever the little green flag he's always been; even if he is having a rough ride in this installment staying the cinnamon roll we know him to be.
The romance is definitely playing second fiddle to the main plot though, but honestly, I enjoyed getting stuck into the mystery and intrigue surrounding the University and its magical underbelly. It was fascinating to unpick and it just made those romantic moments stand out more.
I really hope the author continues to write in this world, it's become a bit of an autumn comfort reading experience for me!
Before I even start my review of All the Wicked, Catelyn Wilson’s concluding book to the duology that began with All The Devils, did you know that Catelyn Wilson is a triplet! I was blown away by this – particularly as we have triplets in my family, and whilst all three arrived together, they couldn’t be more distinct from one another…and I suspect that is very much the same for this wonderful author (especially based on her lovely message to her sibilings.)
Anyhoo, let’s get on with my review! I loved All The Wicked. It is a totally wild, fast paced, helter skelter occult ride of a rollercoaster! From the dark, moody, gothic atmosphere of Eidolon University to the emotional depths and twists and turns of the characters, to the truly dark, gothic fantasy of the plot, secrets and mysteries that Andy and Anubis (Jae,) uncover in their search to save Andy’s sister Violet and solve the mystery of Minjun’s death.
Before you start All The Wicked, you absolutely must read All The Devils, where we are introduced to Andy, who is mourning the apparent death of her twin sister Violet and Jae, who is investigating the haunted and eerie Ravenswood Academy to avenge Minjun – you will miss out on so much of their back story and the layered world building and character development that make this duology so good!
Andy still hasn’t fully recovered from the events that took place in Ravenswood Academy but, like Jae knows that their investigation isn’t fully resolved, and if they are to prevent the destruction of the gods they must continue in their efforts, even if that does mean entering the mysterious Eidolon University and pledging themselves to a deliciously dark and dangerous secret society that courts demons, dark magic, ancient rituals and even hell itself.
From the start Catelyn Wilson plunges you right back into the action and turmoil in which both protagonists are already enmired. Andy continues to struggle with Hecate’s magic, keeping in in control and grounding herself whilst simultaneously still not finding or recognising the reality of who she is and what she is capable of. Alongside which she knows that her time with Jae is limited and the emotional impact of this is deep and only serves to unnerve and unground her even more.
Jae remains focused on fulfilling the bargain he made to solve and avenge Minjun’s murder whilst also wrestling with his own emotions and deep feelings for Andy. All of this whilst both are battling the forces of evil and greed to protect Hecate’s magic and all the innocents that have been damaged by the perpetrators of dark magic. All The Wicked is the perfect conclusion to this duology and there is no question that Wilson’s writing has matured and grown to balance the dark academia and magical gothic vibes alongside the depth of emotion, suffering and self-doubt as our suffering protagonists fight power hungry, relentlessly dark and evil foes to right the many wrongs and prevent further suffering and pain.
If you’re looking for a gothic, magic, dark academia series that will keep you up at night when you should be sleeping you will definitely not go wrong with this amazing series!
Thank you so much Michael Joseph, Penguin Random House, and NetGalley for this arc in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Thank you NetGalley for an opportunity to read this arc in exchange for an honest review.
All The Wicked continues after the story of Ravenswood Academy and it’s mysteries, only this book is set at Eidolon University some time after where Andy wants to infiltrate their secret society with Anubis (Jae) to find answers to avoid her sisters fate while also finding answers to avenge Jae’s Aunt MinJun’s death.
This book has allowed us to see much more into Andy’s character, much more into who she truly is behind the secret societies, the magic, the Gods and the weight of her sister’s fate which gives you much more adoration for her. She is strong even when she’s struggling with her magic and doesn’t back down from anything that stops her from her mission.
The yearning between Andy and Jae was well constructed considering their relationship is very much a slow burn and not at the forefront of the plot. It’s like a confliction between what they need to do while at the institution while confronting their feelings for each other and I enjoyed how raw and real it felt.
The gothic dark academia-esque world and the secret societies who indulge in demons and dark magic remain very intriguing. There is a lot to the lore but I loved diving more into the magic systems and uncovering new details and secrets.
I will be honest, I am only rating this book down simply because it took me so long to get into it. I just couldn’t get my brain fully into it until at least over half of the book. Once I was into it, then pieces fell more into places and it continued to feel how I felt when I read the first book. Perhaps a future read might allow me to enjoy this book much more wholly as I had hoped for on the first.
Overall, I have enjoyed reading the story of Andromeda and Anubis and the dark world we have been introduced and I’d happily keep revisiting this world or something similar from Catelyn in the future.
This was a nice dark academia novel, with lots of magic, involving the gods of the underworld. Andy, the protagonist makes a plan to attend Ravenwood Academy in order to find the god Hectate who has disappeared, but whom the sisters are blood tied to. Therefore, she thinks Hectate can save her sister Violet, who is dying from a leukaemia type illness related to her use of magic. Anubus from the underworld visits Andy and advises her that the gods are dying, which is why Hectate is hiding somewhere. But what kills gods? The answers are thought to be found in Ravenwood. Andy therefore goes on a quest to find out more by infiltrating the Academy with her close friend Anubus who is temporarily bound to her. Albeit there are no guarantees she will survive it as she undergoes tests to gain her passage into the secret parts of the academy. Andy is a likeable character. She is aware of her own flaws but is driven despite her fear by her overriding need to save her sister. There are some very powerful baddies in the Academy which are intimidating but also great to hate. There is an overarching message from this book, which is that power corrupts and that there is a need for balance in the world in order for it to function adequately. Determining who can be trusted in order to deal with the imminent shift of power and the eradication of the gods is perilous. This is dark, sinister and atmospheric. It has a decent pace with some decent twists and turns and a sense of foreboding. It was different to other dark academia novels, which was refreshing to encounter and overall an entertaining read.
I absolutely adored All The Devils so I was BEYOND excited for this one, and it did not disappoint.
All the Wicked picks up right where All the Devils left off, and somehow, Catelyn Wilson manages to raise the stakes even higher. From the haunted echoes of Ravenswood Academy to the secret laden halls of Eidolon University, this sequel delivers everything I crave in dark academia: cursed knowledge, dangerous societies, and a romance that simmers just beneath the surface of all that beautiful chaos.
Andy Emmerson’s journey is raw and relentless. Still haunted by her sister’s fate and her own connection to Hecate’s magic, she feels like a character teetering on the edge of something vast and terrifying. Jae’s return brings both comfort and heartbreak, their dynamic charged with the kind of yearning that never feels forced, just heart achingly human. Their bond isn’t the centre of the story, but it gives every battle and betrayal an emotional gut punch.
The layers of occult mystery, ritual magic, and secret orders unfold like a gothic puzzle, each revelation darker and more compelling than the last.
What I love most is how Wilson balances spectacle with soul. Beneath all the demonic pacts and shadowed corridors lies a story about grief, identity, and the dangerous allure of power. And when the final twist hits, it’s both inevitable and shocking in the best way.
This is the perfect conclusion to the duology.
Fans of secret societies, witchy mysteries, and beautifully tortured characters, this one’s for you.
3.5 stars. I was really excited to read the continuation to All the devils and it was lovely to be reunited with Andy and Anubis in this sequel. We do have a very similar plot to the first book albeit set in a University instead of a school. As it is dark academia, it has to be a learning environment which is relevant to the plot. I feel as if the magic system and the mechanics of it could have been incorporated more into the book. It felt more tell than show. There was no real explanation and Andy doesn’t have control over her magic at the beginning and then suddenly does. Her lack of knowledge works for the first book, but not for a sequel, I feel like her knowing how her magic works or at least snapshots of her learning magic could have progressed the story and her character development in a positive way. The leader of the secret society was weirdly overpowered, and Anubis, a god, weirdly underpowered. That being said, Catelyn Wilson’s writing style is very cohesive and has reliable readability. I love the historical references, mythology and who hasn’t had an Egyptology phase at one point in their life. All in all, I still enjoyed this one but I do think it might have done better as a standalone. Thanks to netgalley and Michael Joseph, Penguin Random House for the eARC.
I received this book as an ARC from Netgalley, however all opinions are my own.
So the reason I wanted to read this is because I read the first book (also as an ARC) and loved it. Friends, I am so happy that we got to have more of Andy's, Violet's and Jae's story. I have been so excited for this book to be released so the moment I saw this on Netgalley I jumped at the chance to apply for it. This book was everything I wanted in a sequel and more. Did this book go any way I thought it would? Absolutely not. Did I still love devouring every moment of it. 100%. There were so many twists and turns in this book that I was absolutely not expecting, and this book genuinely kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. It was so fun to catch up with the main characters I knew and loved and see their stories play out, but also to meet new characters that added just a little something extra. I absolutely think this was the perfect way to end the series. However if we were to get more story within this universe I absolutely would pick the next one up. I can see myself picking up a physical copy of this for my book trophies in the future and I will definitely be recommending this series to everyone and anyone who wants a magical, dark academia themed fantasy to read. I'm so excited to see what Catelyn does next.
If you love your thrillers with a dash of occult mystery and a whole lot of atmosphere, All The Wicked is a wild, witchy ride you won’t want to miss. Catelyn Wilson picks up the threads from All The Devils and dives even deeper into the shadows—this time taking us from the haunted halls of Ravenswood Academy to the eerie streets of Edinburgh and the secrets buried at Eidolon University.
Andy Emmerson is still reeling from the chaos of last year, and the stakes are higher than ever. Demons, secret societies, and cryptic warnings from the mysterious Order keep the tension simmering, while the return of Jae adds emotional weight and a few jaw-dropping twists. The vibe is pure dark academia meets supernatural thriller, with restless spirits, ancient rituals, and a world teetering on the edge of hellfire.
Wilson’s writing is fast-paced and cinematic, with just enough romance and character depth to keep things grounded. It’s the kind of book you devour in a weekend and immediately want to discuss with fellow fans—especially once the final reveal hits.
Perfect for readers who crave secret societies, witchy vibes, and a heroine who refuses to back down. Bring on the next chapter.
With thanks to Catelyn Wilson, the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.
Dark magic and dark academy fantasy, sunk deep into the claws of a secret society and the underworld. With an undercurrent of a future with a possible romance.
Having enjoyed the first book I dived in. The first part of the book was a bit slow, for me after Ravenwood’s action and pace. I think the author was trying to allow back story for those just reading this book. But that soon was forgotten as peril ramps up.
My interest is always piqued for Scottish set fantasies. The setting is said to be in Edinburgh, but in this case that features so little as to be inconsequential.
What does matter is her sister is dying, so Andy is doing everything to find a way to save her. That means that Andy is once again enrolling in an Academy, and wheedling her way into a Society that’s only going to bring pain.
But she’s confident she knows the source of her issues and the solution. The Order - evil, and the god Hecate - the source of her magic. Let battle commence.
Thank you to Michael Joseph, Penguin Random House and NetGalley for the ARC. The views expressed are all mine, freely given.
3.75 stars rounded up to four stars for the conclusion to this dark academia duology.
It had been a little over a year since I initially read the first book so I did struggle initially to get into this one, though that bares no real influence on my rating.
I enjoyed the story, but felt in places that it moved quite slowly and seemed to gloss over parts that I felt I wanted more from. I feel like Masoud particularly should have played a far bigger role overall and was quite disappointed with where his storyline went.
I liked Andy's growth from the start of the series, but the relationship between her and Anubis could have developed more. Though I liked that romance didn't over saturate the major plot of this book so perhaps this was intentional.
I'd definitely read more from this author in future.
Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read a free copy of this book via Netgalley.
Thank you to Net Galley for this Arc in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed the first book and I can honestly say that the sequel was a worthy continuation of the characters. I like Violent and Andromeda and I liked that Jae/Anubis returns into the book. I'm wondering if this is a trilogy or a continuing series. The pacing is okay and the prose flows well thought-out the novel. It was good to see that the school setting is still prevalent in the book. I will be going back to re-read this upon release but I still love the characters and the story is quite good. However I did find myself skimming the pages though out the second half of the story, which is unfortunate but I do hope to reread this book in the future and not under the time constraints I had due to things outside of my control. Four stars from me and I'm hoping the next book is better.
I was so excited when I was invited to read a sequel to ‘All the devils’. I enjoyed the first book.
This book captures the whole meaning of dark academia through magical spells, secrets, societies and the story being set at an old university.
I loved Anubis, Andy and Violet. To have a god and a sister be so protective and loving towards Andy was so nice to read.
I love the Anubis and Andy ship :) Is there ever enough scenes?!
Also! you know when a writer is a skilled writer, when they can distort your feelings towards characters so strongly. For example, that guy named Damien..
However, I was a little lost at times. I thought Andy would be in more control of her powers after the ending of the first book. Or maybe I don’t remember too well as I read the first book last year.
Thank you netgalley for the eARC. I liked reading the sequel.
I will be honest it took me a while to remember the first book whilst reading this but once I remembered I knew what I was getting into. NetGalley Review;
This was a perfect but also bittersweet way to end this duology. Showing how power can not only corrupt but also how greed plays into it, how some people will do anything to get what they want but in the end it can all fail and even cost you everything, even yourself.
The story between Andy and Anubis flows so well and shows how they care for each other and will never let the other fail or feel alone.
The sisterhood also shows how it can be a strong bond that not even death can destroy and that once again making sacrifices shows the love they share.
Also, Hecate will always be queen in any kind of media.

All the Devils was one of my favourite reads last year so I'm grateful to NetGalley for this e-ARC so I could read this book early!
Though the start of the book seemed a little rushed and things worked out a bit too conveniently (?) for the main characters, this is the only criticism I have of this book.
All the Wicked concluded this duology perfectly. It had the perfect mix of high stakes, sacrifices, dark academia vibes, familial love and true friendship...as well as some power hungry and ruthless villains and more sacrificies.
PS: All the Wicked is set near Edinburugh which makes this the ✨️perfect✨️ Autumn read.
Thank you NetGalley and Catelyn Wilson for the ARC! I had All the Devils as an ARC and it lived rent free in my head for MONTHS! So when I saw that the second book was being released I was so excited and it did not disappoint! My only criticism is that it did seem a bit rushed at times and I would have loved to have seen more of Andy and Anubis and to have seen their relationship develop more! This book has dark academia, secret societies and magic wielding and I'm glad that there was a conclusion for the story of Andy and Violet, even if it was bittersweet! I look forward to see what else Catelyn Wilson releases in the future!

I was thrilled to be invited to read book two in this duology, having enjoyed the first, and wow, what a bittersweet but perfect ending.
I kind of wish Andy was a little less unsure of her power in this one, it felt like it fitted the first book really well but less so in this one after the events of the first. But that niggle aside, I was again swept away in the story and really did enjoy the finale to what was a compelling duology.
Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin Random House and Catelyn Wilson for gifting me this eARC. My opinions are wholly my own.
Our story picks up a year after the ending of the first book with Andy at home with her sister who’s fighting cancer the more traditional way and Jae/Anubis back in the underworld. Andy and Jae are looking forward a way to help her sister and in doing so they find out that someone is hunting and killing gods causing a lot of problems in the underworld - this leads us to our bag guys of the story the order.
I really enjoyed the potential that the order gave the story - with far reaching consequences of their actions in Andy’s world and getting to meet all the key players and seeing how they interacted with each other and the outside world was great! I loved getting the odd Jae POV chapter and seeing Andy’s growth and acceptance of her powers was really cool!
The book was fairly well paced and was definitely more plot focused that character focused but it wasn’t entirely a bad thing. There was so much going on that at times it felt a little too rushed and you missed out a some details but thankfully it wasn’t that often.
I loved getting to see a bit more of the magic system at play here - seeing how order members used it more and in a more sophisticated fashion that previously seen was great for laying the groundwork For what looks like a potential third book in the series, which I really do hope we get after how this one ended!
Overall a solid sequel with room to grow and with a potential book on the way I look forward to it
Unfortunately I did not love this as much as I did the first book, while I loved the characters, the story fell flat for me. The setting focuses a lot more on the modern world and less on the underworld which is what I loved in the first book, the underworld setting was so atmospheric and intriguing but we barely see it in this book. I also felt the story was a bit too easy and not as shocking or impactful as the first book.

Very good sequel and finale to the Sisters of the occult series
Much like this books predecessor, this is a perfect autumn read.
Dark academia with witchy vibes, the occult, demons, mythology and secret societies. Just *chefs kiss.*
The exploration of power and how it is perceived, how it is chased and how it can corrupt, was interesting to follow.
I do like that the romance didn't feel like the centre piece of the story, but more of a thread that was woven into the other aspects and gave nods/reasons to some of the things that happen.
Like with the first in the series, I do feel like some of the pacing felt a little off. BUT I am glad we got a sequel to the story and we could finally see what happened with Andy, Violet and Anubis.
Thank you Michael Joseph, Penguin Random House and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Wow! I loved this story. I’d recently read All The Devils and loved that this story continues where that one finished.
Andy finds herself at a new academy, trying to infiltrate another order along with Jae/Anubis by her side. The story unfolds and develops so well and I was swept away with the story, struggling to put it down!
I loved how the story pans out, it’s faced paced and full of spells, magic, gods and demons and the ending always just the perfect ending (in my opinion)
This was a great YA duology and I’m so thankful to Michael Joseph and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book ahead of its release. Opinions expressed here are my own.
After loving book 1, I think I was more excited going into this than I came away from it. It may have been the cancer references I wasn't expecting or the wider references to Gods, both of which I struggle enjoying in books, but I didn't enjoy this as much as I hoped.
My favourite character is Violet, Andy ended up annoying me a bit. The Order was intresting but the two R named characters confused me which also got annoying. I would have liked Andy to have female friendships outside of her sister and have an outside perspective on the happenings.
Generally it felt my expectations outweighed the experience.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC
I really enjoyed book one and couldn't wait to dive back into this world again.
Still in an academia setting but this time at a university instead It still brings magic, myth, twists and mystery but for me I just did not enjoy it as much as book 1. I just felt the story was not as captivating as the first one.
Thank you to Michael Joseph for the arc for review 🫶
✨ Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-arc of this book. All opinions are my own. ✨
This one took me a bit longer to get into - the beginning is a bit slow but once the book picks up I was absolutely hooked!
The story picks up a year later after the first book ends, Violet is battling her cancer with traditional medicine (rather than magic) and Andy is planning with Jae to help cure Violet. In tying to help Violet, Andy and Jae find out that someone is killing gods in the underworld which kick starts the beginning of a journey to investigate another secret society. Although similar plot wise to the first novel, this is a much darker instalment, focused on Eidolon University's Order who are getting increasingly powerful and it's up to Andy & Anubis to stop them.
I really enjoyed the character development and Andy actually being unafraid to use her magic in this book. You can really see how she's grown up and accepted her fate of being related to Hecate and all that comes with it. The romance is secondary to the main plot, though doesn't come without the yearning that Andy has for Anubis, adding to the tense atmosphere in a race to save Violet.
Full of suspense, emotional twists and turns throughout, with a mix of magic and gothic vibes, I highly recommend this one for anyone needing their dark academia fix.
I liked it but didn't compare to the first book, felt slightly copy and pasted plot line from book one and I felt quite disconnected from the characters and the story.
(thank you to the publisher for the opportunity to read an early copy)
Absolutely loved it. this felt like a more grown up follow up to the first book and was far more advanced in the intricate details of a magical order and history. brilliant.
I was so happy to have Andy and Jae back. This was just as dark and as the previous though much more entwined with the history of elite orders than the first.
It took me a little while to get back into the setting and the drama of the series but once I did I really had a good time. I liked the pining and longing that the two characters felt for each other. I did find the sister relationship a bit forced in places, I felt that the feelings that Violet had for Andy seemed a bit false compared to things that she did in the first book. I loved the atmosphere of the book and the way that the secret societies played a roll. The magic was interesting if not fully explained. I would definitely read more by the author.
