About the author

Sujatha was the allonym of the Tamil author S. Rangarajan, Author of over 100 novels, 250 short stories, ten books on science, ten stage plays, and a slim volume of poems. He was one of the most popular authors in Tamil literature, and a regular contributor to topical columns in Tamil periodicals such as Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam and Kalki. He had a wide readership, and served for a brief period as the editor of Kumudam, and has also written screenplays and dialogues for several Tamil movies.

As an engineer, he supervised the design and production of the electronic voting machine (EVM) during his tenure at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a machine which is currently used in elections throughout India. As an author he inspired many authors, including Balakumaran, Madhan.

முன்னுரையிலேயே இது இலக்கியமா என்றெல்லாம் கேட்கக்கூடாது என்று சுஜாதா சொல்லிவிடுகிறார் அதனால் அதை மனதில் வைத்துக்கொண்டு படித்தால் சுவாரசியமான கதைகளாகவே இருக்கின்றன.

1980களில் எழுதப்பட்ட கதைகள் ஆயினும் அந்த நடையின் புதுமையும் எழுத்தின் துள்ளலும் இன்றும் வியக்கவே வைக்கின்றன.

5-Star rating is not because this was a page turner, not because I enjoyed it, not because I'm worthy enough to review Sujatha - it is only due to the fact that books like these are a treasure for our generation and more to come. You read about a clerk at LIC, you smell the paper in those files being moved to a higher officer. A sarcastic view on the great Cholas make you feel why this wasn't seen when you read Kalki. And all this narrated with expert jargons that traverse you to that exact place and you are right in the mid of it. People like me would know the world that existed!

As always stories are about human nature and thoughts. Sujatha can be said as one among the kings of short story and these stories also prove them.
As like other sujatha books ... a good read ... can easily go for it

யாரும் எதிர்பார்க்காத கிளைமாக்ஸுடன் கூடிய ஒன்றுகொன்று சம்பந்தமில்லாத 12 வித்தியாசமான கதைகள் இந்நூலில் உள்ளடக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.அனுபமாவின் தீர்மானம்,குந்தவையின் காதல், ஒருநாள் மட்டும் ,யாருக்கு? ,க்ளாக் ஹவுஸில் புதையல் ஆகிய சிறுகதைகள் எனக்குப் பிடித்திருந்தன. வாசித்து முடிக்க இரண்டரை மணி நேரம போதும்.ஒருமுறை ஜாலியாக வாசிக்கலாம்
