Hawk is in trouble. Senator Oberlin is trying to frame him for drug trafficking. His only hope is to disappear until he can clear his name.

Vivian has a huge crush on Hawk but she thinks he must hate her her because he is always rude and unfeeling towards her that is if he pays attention to her at all. she still wants to help Hawk. She tells Hawk that she can help him runaway and together they can clear his name.

While Vivian and Hawk are on the run and stuck together she confronts Hawk about his treatment of her. Vivian tells Hawk she is leaving and he should not miss her since he never talks to her and never appreciates her helping him. She says she will see him once this is all over. Hawk is stunned but he knows he has treated her badly. Hawk comes clean about his past and why he has acted so badly towards her. He tells her of a past relationship that is the reason why he has not dated in so long.

Vivian and Emma find out who there mother is and uncover who there father is as well. Norman is still a threat to Emma and she is still in danger.

After reading the 1st 3 books I feel sorry for Norman. His mother was so horrible and you understand why he is a bit crazy.

We get to see a little bit of Hawk's sweet side and I really like Hawk even more after book #3

I still have some questions of why Vivian's parents did not adopt Emma also, I hope this will be answered in another book.

The Edge of the Heat series truly got better by each book.

Emma had grown into the strong, independent, capable woman I expected her to be. Her relationship with Craig was secure and mature.
The romance between Vivian and Hawk was enticing.
The heat level was moderate, and fit very well with the storyline.

The action, suspense was brilliant. With twists and unexpected turns, the tension was building, riveting.
All the previously open questions were answered, loose ends tighten up.
Great ending for the series!

The couple: Hawk and Vivian

Romance trope: romantic suspense
Series: Edge of the Heat
Length: 249 pages

Plot: Craig and Emma have reunited, safely, but now someone is coming after Hawk. Hawk is still working on their big case but he's being targeted by the DEA for an unknown reason. He gets a little advanced knowledge, so with Vivian's help, he goes on the run. Once at the cabin, Hawk must try to discover who is coming for him and try to stay away from Vivian - for everyone's good, of course.

Commentary: I really thought Hawk's story was going to be just him hating on the poor little rich girl, but it was a little deeper than that. It was actually kind of sad, so I'll give him a pass on being a jerk - THIS ONCE! - since Vivian did also.

This is a continuing story - it can't be read as a standalone.

Previous book in the series: Edge of the Heat 2
Next book in the series: Edge of the Heat 4

"Jerry stood and smiled. Vivian gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. He was such a sweet guy. She didn’t mind at all that he had broken off their short dating stint because her money and her intellectual nature had put him off a bit."

That is NOT what happened. SHE was the one to end it because he wasn't her type and she wasn't attracted to him as more than friends. WTF why would the author do this? Jerry is a great character and the author is now trying to make us think he's shallow? I'm not impressed. Authors need to keep notes so crap like this doesn't happen

Will we ever find out why Vivians parents only chose her?

There were points in the story where I got frustrated with the characters (no one in particular). There were grammatical errors (typos, word reputation, etc) that made me laugh and had me reread the sentence over a few times to fully grasp what Lisa was writing. My favorite typo was "...Vivian covered her hands with her mouth, eyes wide." That had me rolling. I knew what she meant, but it's still funny.

I loved seeing how the characters worked through the pain and hurt and got to learn more about Hawk.

This is the third book in the series, and the longest one so far. Emma and Craig are working out their differences and her long lost twin Vivian finally makes a move on Hawk. Poor Hawk doesn't stand a chance, since the DEA is suddenly trying to build a case against him. He has to hide out somewhere, and Viv has just the place to stash him. Then there's the problem of Norman the dirty cop and Senator Oberlin, who thinks he's a mover and shaker and wants to be invulnerable. Lots of interesting things happen in this book. I enjoyed it immensely, and I think you will too.

Edge of the Heat 3

By: Lisa Ladew
Narrated by: Anya West
Series: Edge of the Heat, Book 3
Length: 7 hrs and 19 mins

I listened to this book at 1.40x. To 1.50x
I did have a problem with the big deep breath taken before every sentence. It would have been nice if it was edited out. Very distracting .

Surprisingly good. Couldn't put down. Very much going on. Firefighting, FBI involved, crooked cops. EMT. doctors.

Looking forward to book 4

Vocal artist Anya West did a really good job being it to life. But I had to listen to it at 1.40x or 1.50x to make it more exciting.

Ok read, a little wooden and stilted in the character interaction, but the story itself is pretty good.

It is a serial read, which is not my favorite, but there was somewhat of a conclusion after this installment. This one features mostly Hawk and Vivian's story, but it is all tied together, so you need to start with the first one in order to get what is going on.

So the story continues but this time Vivian and Hawk are the main characters with Craig and Emma mixed in. You have to read books 1 and 2 to be able to know what is going on in this book. All I have to say is men are really dumb sometimes. Also big Justice for the Senator and Norman!!

I’m glad the Norman part of the story is done. I thought this was Vivian’s book, but it didn’t really seem to be. I like these, but don’t love them.

I have been in love with this series ever since I read the first book in the series. The first book ends in a cliffhanger so I bought book two and loved that one as much. It took me a while to buy the rest of the books in the series but now have I don’t it and this third book is as good as the first once. I so love this book and I don't really know what to say.

We get to follow the story from the first book but this is different in so many levels. The story is full of suspension and love and doubts and trouble and care. I really enjoyed how things happens and how there is a red thread in the story. It is easy to follow as a reader. There is fast parts with a lot of things going on followed by love and slower parts so that the reader can catch their breath from the thrill and get to hold the breath for the love and romance and then off, to more thrill. The way this is happening is very natural and written in a very good way. It was really easy to follow and I never got bored of it.

I enjoy how we get to know the characters on a different level and that we get to follow the story from different angles and how this is possible without losing the reader. I enjoy following Emma, Craig, Emma-Craig, Vivian, Hawk, Vivian-Hawk and everything that is going on. It is an amazing job and I couldn't stop reading when I started.

This book made me laugh and cry. My heart did race both due to the story as a thrilling story and as a romance story. This is a romance story with a depth which I really enjoyed. I also like that this book doesn't end in a cliffhanger. It is nice to sometimes have an end, even if there is more books in the series, having endings is nice and needed. I can really recommend this story and this series because it is really awesome and I really love it.

I can’t express how much I am loving this series, I know when I was reading the first book I wasn’t sure of what to make of it, however now after reading the next two books I have found myself loving it. Lisa Ladew has managed to create such a master piece that literally pulls at every emotion that you have and will make you love the characters.

Even though Emma and her twin sister Vivian managed to escape from Norman’s, however they both know that it’s not the end of all the corruption that is taking place in the city. Things may have calmed down with the fact that Norman is in a hospital prison but things seemed to have taken a turn when Hawke is being investigated by the DEA, so it comes to the point of him going into hiding. Both Vivian and Hawke have strong progressing feelings for each other, however Hawke refuses to acknowledge them so he treats Vivian pretty harshly. The way he treats her really starts to get to her, as all she has ever done since meeting him is be nice to him, so nice in fact that when he goes into hiding she offers to go with him and take him to her beach house. However they soon make a discovery in which could lead to a massive breakthrough in the investigation that is currently happening. But things end up becoming a lot more troublesome when they learn that Norman escaped from prison. Honestly go and pick up this great series, it will just pull you in. I can tell you now that I’m seriously looking forward to reading the next book.

I did not like the first two books in the series, so why I thought this one would be different, I don't know. The series received so many good reviews that I thought that it might be a slow burn and I gave it a good go. However, if I have to read all the books in the series to get to the good parts... well, life is just too short and there are many, many other books to read. Even if I could suspend my disbelief at the actions of the main characters and the absolutely unrealistic storyline, I just could not connect to the characters and felt that they were very one-dimensional. Sorry, I could not finish it and would not recommend it to anyone else.

SPOILERS.

Emma and Viv learn who their father is and are not happy about it.
Norman may be paralyzed but he's a psychopathic liar so, you know.
Viv and Hawk finally get together.
Emma and Craig plan to marry.
Craig and Hawk find the hacker who'd been helping Norman, find the trail to get the Senator and his gun-running cronies.
Poor Jerry gets shot.
Emma's kidnapped - again.
Norman and the Senator die.
There's some gruesomeness in this one, but it's all good.

Book 3 where Vivian and Hawk get together was great. We still get to enjoy Craig and Emma as they put everything behind them or so they think. Vivian and Hawk are a lot of fun to watch together. Hawk has trouble with relationships, but desperately wants Vivian. Their story was so fun to watch as Hawk grows into trusting her. And of course the danger that Hawk is in keeps you on the edge of your seat. Love these characters.

Again...can't believe I kept going but this is the last of the series I will read. Book 4 goes off to start explaining Vivian's life and I just don't care enough to continue this series. It is awfully written, points of view change to drastically within a single page. The characters are not well developed and the background of each characters is given all at once and not developed slowly. This series is terrible, I'm out.

Great Read

Note: I read up to book five, before coming back to write my reviews on the series thus far.

All of the stories (too book 5) have a great plot, great leading characters, great supporting characters and the hidden villain you hope gets caught but seems to slip through until he makes a fatal error.

You'll mostly like see my same review on the other books as well.

Loved this book so much more than either of the others. I feel like the author made these two much more real and relatable- even though they are both loaded.

At this point- especially since I got the full series as a pack on my kindle- I'm going to finish them. I'm just hoping this trend continues.
