The Sea Queen is a fantastic sequel to The Frost Fair. It adapted perfectly from the first book but added new characters and new themes to keep you interested and eager to read more.

I love Anne and Thomasina's friendship and their sense of loyalty as they desperately try to save Henry from The Sea Queen! It's an amazing relationship for children to explore and build within themselves and how they treat everyone they come into contact with.

My 9 year old daughter and I buddy read both books together, and she's already asked for the third book. I think she enjoyed this one a lot more, having gotten used to the setting and the characters. She found the twists shocking, and it was wonderful watching her mind work them out as the story unfolded.

My daughter thinks the story is creative and liked having the longer and shorter chapters so she could share in the reading more easily. She can't wait for the third book, which we will definitely be reading together as soon as it's published!

The story itself was good for book 2 however the author decided to sneakily introduce an lgbt plot with mermaids! Totally unnecessary and inappropriate for the story itself.
