Hmm...Where do I even start with this one? It definitely wasn't what I expected. Totally my fault, by the way. For some unknown reason, I had it in my head that this was a biker romance. Clearly, I didn't read the blurb. Again, totally my fault. Instead, 'Slade' tells the story of a male stripper that is super-slutty. I didn't see that coming! LOL.

Although I was able to adjust to the unexpected storyline pretty quickly, I found this short read to be mediocre at best. There was a huge dose of insta-lust and not enough time to actually make the supposed emotional attachment between the two main characters seem genuine.

Essentially, Slade is a manwhore that "falls in love" with his new roommate, Aspen. The attraction is instantaneous, followed by some roommate rivalry. He wants in her pants. She wants to deny her attraction because he is such a slut. His sluttiness is really the result of ineffective coping, using sex to avoid dealing with his tragic past. She has her own secret reasons for not wanting to get involved with the sex machine under the same roof. Eventually, he reforms himself for her.

As you can see, this is similar to a thousand others in this trope. However, the short length of 'Slade' resulted in this story being unbelievable and having a rushed feel. It takes time to make readers feel a real connection to the characters. That never happened with this one.

I love a steamy love story as much as the next girl, but I need to have some "meat" in my stories. This one was a little smutty for my taste. The sex was plentiful, even gratuitous, but it lacked appeal because I felt no connection to the characters at all.

Overall, 'Slade' is a 2 1/2 star read for me. If you're in the mood for something quick and very smutty, then you might enjoy this one. I needed more of an actual story and I didn't find it with this one.

Just for shits and giggles, I did a word count for "fuck". 573 times the word fuck is used in some variation. Now I'm no prude but that seems like a lot, no? Yes? Maybe?



Anywho....so Slade, Cale and Hemy are strippers. They work at Walk of Shame...which was the most willy nilly strip club I've ever seen.

Meet Slade....

"There’s no shame in having a huge sexual appetite. I need a woman that can handle me. I like to fuck and I like to fuck dirty. The fact they get the ultimate pleasure in return is just the icing on the cake. If my cock is what does the trick, then why the fuck should I stop? It’s not my fault I’m so good with it."

Aspen is in town visiting Cale, who happens to be an old friend of hers.

Aspen made me want to beat my head against the wall repeatedly. She acted like she was disgusted by Slade but the minute he got near her, she'd spread her legs. Only to then remember she hated Slade and "he caught her in a moment of weakness".

“And just so you know, that is never happening again. Got it? Stay as far away from me as you can. You got to me in a moment of weakness. It won’t happen again.”

Because it happened about 42 more times throughout the book.

“I told you my cock feels good, baby. It’s going to feel even better inside you, claiming you.”

Followed by....

“I fucking hate you. You’re such an asshole, Slade.”

Well guess what Aspen...



They finally have some angry sex around the 60% mark...



Their conversation after...

“I’m going back downstairs before Cale gets home. I’m sorry. This should never have happened.”

“Wait.” She stops and waits for me to walk over to her. Stopping in front of her, I cup her face and pull it up so I can look her in the eyes. I just have to look into them and see how I make her feel; see that I pleasured her beyond belief. “Your eyes are the most beautiful fucking thing I have ever seen.”

Slade of course is hiding behind is past. He uses sex to dull the pain. So he doesn't have to feel. He slept with almost anyone and everyone until he met Aspen. Then her golden vajayjay cursed his cock for all other women.



Aspen's no angel though. She's been doing some of her own hiding.



This is how dumb Aspen is, referring to her boyfriend that she was "taking a break" from.

I blew through this book in a few hours, but I refuse to recommend it, b/c GUILTY PLEASURE.

The story is nothing I haven't read before, I've met the characters over and over again, and the writing . . .

“I noticed your eyes from the very first time I laid eyes on you. They’ve never changed. I’m not as stupid as some people. They’re beautiful. Don’t let anyone else make you think any different.”
She laughs and it’s the most beautiful sound I have heard from her. I’ve never heard her laugh before and it’s nice to see this side of her. “Yeah, well I’m glad you’re smarter than most. I would hate to have another reason to hate you. I already have too many to count.” She pauses to push my shoulder and smile. “And thank you. Now I have one less reason to hate you. It’s a start.”

He saw her beautiful eyes with his eyes.

He heard her laugh and (like her beautiful eyes) it was beautiful. He'd never before heard her beautiful laugh.

She'd hate to have to hate him more than she already hates him b/c reasons.

Well Ms. Ashley does it again….she totally threw me for a loop with this little spicy story.  You know every time she asks me to read one of her books and give my opinion, I feel this extreme amount of anxiety of whether or not I will be able to rate the book high…

When I finished this one, she begged me to give her my rating and I had to be honest and tell her that I was only giving it a 4 ½ Stars because I didn’t like Slade in the beginning…his attitude pissed me off and I just wanted to reach in the book and slap him upside his head.  But you know what?  I thought about it for a few days and realized….SHIT, CAROL….that’s what Ms. Ashley was trying to do the whole time.  She purposely gave us a character so full of himself, so arrogant, so cocky that the reader would love to hate him or hate to love him.  This is EXACTLY how I felt about Slade!!  So, did Ms. Ashley hit the mark?  I believe she did with this one…and that’s why yesterday, I had to tell her that I finally gave one of her books a 5 Star rating.



I am so proud of her and have watched her grow from a struggling author (well not really struggling) but I have watched her writing grow in character development, watched her mature in her plot formatting and seen how her writing continues to flourish with her characterization of scenes and descriptions.  It is to a point now with her writing that I am transformed directly into the scene and living day by day in the fantasy world she is able to create.



Not only is the character development phenomenal, but OH MY FUCKING GOD…the sex in this book is something that I don’t even have words to describe!!  The sex scenes are so smoking hot that I had the willies in my tummy that just kept travelling down to the vaj-mahal! I haven’t read sex this fucking hot in such a long time that I don’t know how many times I had to take short breaks to get my mind off of having sex with Slade and back into the plot of the story.

So as you can see if you go back and check out my other reviews for Ms. Ashley’s books, the rating of stars continues to increase with each book she writes….hmmm? Now that I reached 5….what’s next?

This was one SCORCHING HOT READ!!! I LOVED Slade and ALL his dirty talking and sexy ways. The fact that he was a stripper, had a nice package and knew what to do with it just about made me swoon!



I was pleasantly surprised that for an erotic read Slade had a very good story line. In fact it grabbed me emotionally in a few places and made me cry.

I really liked Aspen, the only reason she does not get 5 stars is because she kept a piece of information away from Slade a bit too long for my tastes.



If you like a super-hot SCORCHING read, you will definitely get it here. My panties were wet right from the beginning.

The ending was PERFECT and gave me a huge smile.

Overall I’m so glad that I FINALLY read Slade, I loved it so much that I’m jumping right into Hemy’s book.

The only downfall though is, since it is a novella, it didn't have a whole lot of plot. Otherwise, it was over all an extremely satisfying read and looks like to be a standalone for this couple I think.

I'm now tediously hoping for stories on Cale and Hemy though!! Pretty please?! Cale intrigues me and Hemy is just as bad as a man whore as Slade. I wonder what the deal is for both of them and would love to see them fall!!♥

The heroine: Aspen - came to town to stay with an old friend to get away from her life and heartache.

The Hero(es): Slade - he is a stripper and a sex addict. He uses sex to feel numb and to forget something from his past but as soon as it is over, it all comes back.

The Story: Slade is attracted to Aspen right away and is used to women falling at his feet and wanting him for the night. So when Aspen turns him down he is determined to have her.

From the beginning, Slade was way too cocky and a bit of a jerk. Though he has reason to be a bit cocky because he is in high demand as a stripper and all the women at the club want to sleep with him. I didn’t really like his attitude, but I wanted to know more about him.

Aspen, on the other hand was way to wishy washy. She wanted him, but thinks she is above him. Though when he starts to get randy, she is all for it until she isn’t. I didn’t think the female narrator’s voice matched the character. She also sounded too old for a woman in her 20’s. So that might have been why I didn’t like her that much.

As the story went on, I got to like Cade more and more. I found that the cocky jerk had much more underneath than I would have thought. I also really liked the Male narrator’s voice. Nice and deep and it was exactly right for this character.

You, you absolutely fabulous woman, have done it again, only this time you've hit the spot a million times over.
Repeatedly.

I'm going to begin my review of Victoria Ashley's Slade by thanking the author for including me in her beta-reading team . Chapter after chapter, I fell deeper and harder into Slade's dark and tantalizingly dangerous world. Unfortunately, during the beta-reading process I was unavailable for a little while due to some real-life issues, but once the personal storm was over, I got right back to it and found myself falling pretty damn hard for Slade and Aspen's story.

Slade by Victoria Ashley is an intensely raw and erotic read revolving around the dirty, bad-boy Slade Merrick and the beautifully troubled Aspen Raines. Victoria starts off her story with a bang, catapulting the reader right into a scene where Slade is having his wicked way with a very willing female. Working at Walk Of Shame, and also working part-time as a very naughty stripper whilst there, he is never short of offers for the bedroom. But, Slade has a rule. He never takes the same woman to bed twice. Never. On first impression, Slade may seem like the ultimate bad boy, with his hard muscles, tattoos and adventurous tongue, but beneath the damn hot surface, there's definitely more than meets the eye.

Aspen is moving into her buddie Cale's apartment for a while, whilst she sorts out her own problems. Leaving a bit of a mess behind her, she settles into her new surroundings feeling confident that she has everything under control. What she has left behind will sort itself out. But when Aspen meets Slade for the very first time, the breath is dragged right from her lungs. He is everything that she shouldn't want and definitely doesn't need, but for some strange reason, she just can't seem to leave him alone, physically and mentally.

What transpires is a beautifully written story, including some of the hottest sex scenes that I have ever read in my life, and the stripping down of not only leather trousers but strictly placed barriers that were never meant to be broken.

Something that I have found with all of Victoria Ashley's novels is they are always written in a powerfully real and moving way. All of the emotions that her characters feel are felt by the reader too, and it just feels like it's impossible to not feel completely and utterly involved in whatever they are going through at the time. Victoria writes in such a compelling and irresistible way, she is one of the most incredible authors that I have had the pleasure of meeting. Particularly, in Slade, Victoria has gone into great depth when it comes to sex which, in my eyes, is hardly a bad thing. And for those readers out there who love detailed sex scenes, then they will definitely not be disappointed. Each moment of desire and passion is expertly laid out, allowing the reader an image of perfection, and Victoria definitely raises the heart rate in this one.

Victoria's characters seemed crazily real to me.
I'm going to talk about Slade first.
When I read the author's previous novel This Regret, I thought I had met the ultimate bad boy. I was absolutely besotted with her character Kellan Haze. I'm not going to compare Slade and Kellan because really, I find the thought of doing that a little traumatic, but Slade has took sex and sexiness to a whole new level. Sex plays a massive part in this story, so Slade plays the part perfectly. Not only is he a stripper, but he's a bad-ass. He likes to have sex, he likes to hit back whiskey and he likes to talk dirty. He swears a lot which adds heaps to his bad boy persona, and I just found him completely irresistible, tattoos, muscles and all. I think what I found most appealing about Slade was this mysterious other side to him. Victoria constantly highlights the fact that something happened in Slade's past, and then adds to this secret even more by having Slade study himself in mirrors and losing himself in his own mind as he studies the scar that graces his face. This is a fantastic element to be added because it constantly has you wondering what the hell happened to him. I might also add that the scar, in my own opinion, again adds to his bad boy persona. Ladies, let's be honest. Isn't there something just intriguing and addictive about a dark, mysterious, knee-shakingly attractive man, who can sometimes look troubled and pained? Doesn't it make you want to make him feel better and take the pain away for him? Instead, what Slade does is drink and fuck. This is his way to feel better and relieve himself of the stress of his past. Hands up who wants to be a willing volunteer? Moving swiftly on, Slade is downright trouble. He's also downright freaking hot too. Did I mention that?

Aspen is Victoria's female character and I loved her, although I need to be truthful here by saying that with Victoria's novels, I always tend to focus on her male characters a little more than her female. It's not by choice! It just happens. Similar to Slade, Aspen has a few secrets of her own and again, Victoria drops little hints here and there that really keep you guessing. When Aspen first laid eyes on Slade, I could actually feel every single thing that she felt. The attraction, the physical connection, every emotion that she went through, I feel like I went through it too. Again, Victoria detailed everything down to even the minute details and that really adds to the whole experience of reading the story. Aspen was a real knock-out. Curves in all the right places, the complete opposite of a push-over and something that really caught my attention was her two different colored eyes. I loved this! It was completely unique and made Aspen stand out miles from the rest of the females. Of course, me saying she's not a pushover... Let's be honest. Any woman within a few feet of Slade would probably find it torture to not lay a single finger on him. Each and every meeting between Slade and Aspen had my heart racing and my eyes couldn't race down the page quick enough. Aspen was a stunner and I found myself being able to relate to her constantly. The effect that Slade has on her being one of them. I guess you could say that their dark, hidden, mysterious pasts are what bring them together in the end. One breaking through the other one's barrier. Victoria's characters in Slade are just absolutely beautiful. I feel like I want to meet them in real life!

Everything, and I mean everything about Slade had me hook, line and sinker. The plot, the characters, the twists and turns, it all added to the wonderful explosion of emotion that I felt as I read the last page. There is no feeling like the one that you feel when you realize that you can really and truly connect with the characters, and you personally go through every single thing that they go through. I finished Slade with a feeling of devotion, not only to the characters inside of the story, but to Victoria herself. With each story that she brings to me, I fall harder and harder for her writing style and depth. Nothing can beat it, and I mean nothing. Slade has blown any other erotic book right out of the water for me. It's sexy, it's daring and it's like nothing else that I have ever read. Slade is addictive, Aspen is beautiful and their story is like a drug. I feel almost obsessive over it, but that's a sign. A sign that I have just finished reading a mind-blowing story that I'll be thinking about for a long time afterwards.

I'm finishing this review with a incredibly worthy rating of 5/5. Let's just say more though, because I love this story way, way too much. Victoria, please stop blowing my mind. I can't bloody think straight after reading your novels.

Let me first off say, when I first read these lines of the blurb I was sold:

Pardon my language but Holy Shit.. SLADE was one HOT **fans oneself** READ!!!! This was my first book by Victoria Ashley and OMG...this book must be read with a warning. SLADE was so fucking sexy, hot, and steamy that it will leave you combusting with Slade’s dirty mouth. What’s not to love about a book when you have a cocky, filthy, sexy manwhore who is a stripper/bartender at the Walk of Shame club. Oh yeah...did I mention he is a sex addict too. So you can probably understand why Ms. Ashley’s readers were left hot and bothered. This book was basically oozing and dripping with sexiness and steam.



Right off the first chapter, Ms. Ashley started with a bang and I mean that in a good way. Slade Merrick is one sexy beast, dripping with arrogance. If you want pleasure and all your sexual desires to be fulfilled then Slade Merrick is your go to man. Let’s just say, Slade has no problems in making a woman come and screaming with pleasure. If there was a customer satisfaction survey at the Walk of Shame, I probably think Slade will get a big fat check mark of excellent. Slade was living a life filled with sex, alcohol, and of course an endless line of ladies waiting their turn to ride on the Slade train. Well that all came to an abrupt halt when a blonde beauty gave him a run for his money.

One look from Slade, Aspen knew she was in trouble. Raw primal sexual chemistry was emitting off between these two. Given the fact the Slade was a manwhore, Aspen knew she had to keep her distance from Slade while she’s in town visiting. Well keeping a distance presented to be a problem for Aspen when she discovered that her childhood friend, Cale is roommates with Slade. For one week, Aspen and Slade in one house together...can we say trouble? So how long can Aspen deny her sexual desires of Slade?



Aspen tried so hard to keep her legs closed but with lust and desire brewing for Slade, she caved in. Well I don’t blame her at all when you have Slade’s dirty mouth whispering naughty and filthy things that will have any woman dropping their panties. There is a reason why Slade is well known among the ladies, he gives you a fucking that you can’t forget. For Aspen, she got more than she bargained for. When secrets begins to unraveled, will this so called be manwhore finally break all his rules about one night stands and claim Aspen to be the only woman in his life?

Overall, I enjoyed reading Slade. It was hot and a quick steamy novella that will have you devouring this book in a sitting. I loved the raw sexual chemistry that was oozing from Slade. If you are looking for steam and hot sex, Ms. Ashley does not fail in giving her readers a taste of why Slade Merrick is desired among the ladies at the Walk of Shame. As much as I enjoyed this quick read, I wished Ms. Ashley provided more character background on Aspen. I thought the revelation of her secret and past was a bit rushed for my taste. But other than that, I thought Slade was an entertaining hot read that not only introduced you to Slade but also two hot delectable men, Cale and Hemy of the Walk of Shame club. I can’t wait for what Ms. Ashley has in store for Hemy in book 2. All I can say is if SLADE was this hot then I can only imagine Hemy’s story to be a blazing inferno of sexiness.

Aspen's in town for the week just to get away from things and get her head on straight. She's staying with her good friend, Cale, who guess what? You got it - he's also a stripper and...he's Slade's roommate. When Aspen meets Slade she tries to stay away...she really does because she's also hiding something.

Okay, so from reading the blurb, you know this book is full of sex. I was a little worried with it being so short that there wouldn't be much of a story but I was happy that wasn't the case.



And it starts off with Slade having a sex romp with a different woman. I wasn't too thrilled about that but in this case, it really helps to know this side of Slade and why he is the way he is.

There's little hints of what happened to Slade but my heart went out to him on how much he held on to the pain. I loved how he finally opened up to someone.

We do get to know the other two strippers, Hemy and Cale, and they are quite interesting. There's also a new guy at the end that I wouldn't be surprised if he got his own book too. I was really intrigued by Sarah, who's a bartender at Walk of Shame (the club), I would love her book.



I was happy with the way it ended but it's more of a HFN instead of a HEA. I'm hoping they will continue to have an ongoing story in the background of the other books.

Next up is Hemy's book, the badass bisexual biker...should be interesting! ;)

I honestly don't know if I'm desensitized, but his dirty mouth had my laughing more often than not, he had some good one liners, but didn't turn me on as much as I woulda thought. Seriously, I have no clue what's wrong with me lately. Regardless, I totally dug his tortured wild boy persona.

Aspen on the other hand, she was cool, innocent at times, but can have fun with the rest of them. The only thing that pissed me off about her is her insecurities and how she handled things with her "ex"-boyfriend. Girlfriend was just dumb and I wanted to knock some sense into her.

Pretty good story even if the characters weren't my fav, but I am moving onto the next book...after all who could turn down a rough around the edges stripper with more piercing than inhibitions.

Cale is also a stripper, and Aspen didn't know he had a hot roommate.



So Slade is pleasantly surprised to see who his new house guest is, and Aspen is freaking out because Slade is the sexiest man she's ever laid eyes on, and not giving in to him is going to be a challenge. Slade continues to be relentless in getting Aspen in his bed, and is very direct. Aspen isn't used to a guy being so forward with her.



It becomes more difficult to not be with Slade when Aspen wants him so badly. They spend time together, and slowly Aspen learns some of Slade's past. He is scared when he realizes he likes spending time with Aspen, and wants to be around a woman for more than just sex. Aspen makes him feel alive again, and as Slade begins to fall for her his old self begins to emerge.



At first I thought Slade was just going to be another hot player, but was pleasantly surprised there was so much more substance to him. By the end of the book I really loved Slade & was rooting for him. He wasn't at all what I thought, & I fully understood why he was so reckless & why he gave up on life. I was thrilled he found someone to finally fill the empty spot in his heart & help to heal him! I am so excited to get the books for the other dirty boys of Walk of Shame. Can't wait for Hemy & Cale's books, but am most excited for sweet Cale! :D

I finally broke down and decided to read this book. I have been hearing that it was HOT! I must say that the word HOT doesn't even begin to describe how explosive this read is! Whew! It is not for the faint of heart, or for anyone who is offending with an extremely dirty talking stud! This is Book #1 in the "Walk of Shame" series, and it is definitely worth the read for lovers of erotica everywhere! At first I thought that it was going to be an empty story with nothing but filler sex..but I was very wrong. This book actually had some substance to it as well. There was a storyline, and I found myself actually feeling my own emotions for Slade's emotional pain.

This story begins in a male strip joint..yes...you heard and read right!!! AND let me tell you..the stripper's in the club; Walk of Shame, are Bad boys all the way to their core! They are built,tattoed, and even some of them pierced..(you guess the body part!)I forgot to mention, these studs ALL love sex! I could even go out on a limb and tell you that they are addicted to sex, and will stop at nothing to get some whenever and wherever they want it. Most of these guys don't even care who is watching! This book is about Slade though, and he has some major emotional baggage that he is carrying around. He does anything and everything to ease the pain, and not think about his past. This includes alcohol and sex...to the maximum. That is, until a sexy chick named Aspen walks through the doors. She is staying with Slade's roomate, and the attraction between her and Slade is through the roof. Oh, but Slade has a rule...that is that he won't sleep with the same woman more than once. The other catch...Aspen doesn't want him...or at least that is what she says. Slade is determined to have her though..no matter what it takes. Face it, this is a guy who has never been turned down before by any woman. I guess it is true what they say about the forbidden fruit! LOL Will Aspen let her walls down and have hot dirty raunchy sex with Slade?? You will have to read to find out!!! Let me tell you...You do not want to miss it!!!

I was absolutely feeling this book, the only complaint that I have is that the heroine pissed me off towards the end...It is my own personal feelings and opinions and most will probably over look it...but for me her actions just rubbed me the wrong way. So, that is why I rated this a four stars. Everything else in this book, I was pleasantly surprised with. I can't wait to read about the next mysterious stripper; Hemy! He is majorly bad and dirty!!! I just know his book is going to require me to think outside of the box!!! Bring it on!

I have a weird history with this book. This is the fourth attempt to write a review, and i'm finally gonna make it, i swear. As you can tell from my rating, i didn't like it, but i will read the next one for sure, don't ask me why, it's a mixture of things.


Back to this one now. Slade is an interesting book, either you are gonna put aside all the plot holes, the whiny heroine and the less than mediocre writing and you are gonna enjoy it, or you will howl out of despair for every idiotic little thing that happened.


I guess, i lean towards the second. When i read the summary, i fell fast and hard for this story, but the book was entirely something else. The plot was weak, the heroine was passive aggressive and really annoying, the hero was ok, and their chemistry wasn't enough for my to turn a blind eye to the countless problems.


The story in few words, Slade is a male stripper in Walk of Shame, he strips, drinks and f@cks all the time, that's his life, suddenly, he meets his roommate's friend, Aspen and his world changes. There is a reason for his behaviour the absolute cliche of course, the dramatic event that transformed him to all that and yes in the end he turns out to be a decent guy. Sure!


Anyway i like my books with smut or without, vulgar or subtly hinted sexy moments, painfully graphic or not mentioned at all, but it was the first time i actually cringed so much on the sex scenes. I felt dirty while reading and not in a good way. Seriously, i imagined myself in the scenes handing down antiseptic wipes and condoms to everyone. Call me crazy, but that's not a good sign.

Slade.... Where do I even start?

When I first read the synopsis for this book it peaked my interest. I thought it was going to be a fun and light read. I did not at all expect what I got. Like a rose he blooms...

When I first started digging into this book I was introduced to Slade. Slade is a sex addict or well, by standard definition from the female population. I wouldn't classify it in the actual state of a mental illness. There were times reading through his introduction as a stripper at Walk of shame I had these amazing visuals of one hot hunk of a man grinding on my body, slumped down in a fold out chair like the one in the image above. There were times I had to fan myself, times I thought HOLY HELL WHERE IS MY BOYFRIEND WHEN I NEED HIM, and other times where I branded to my female version of a spank bank the images that were floating around in my head as I was reading. DON'T JUDGE AND DON'T ACT LIKE YOU AREN'T DOING THE SAME, AHEM. I promise not to tell.

Just when I finally get past the fact that I have this amazing visual of a sex stud muffin grinding away for the women he has to open his mouth...



Can I just say sometimes a filthy mouth on a man is all we need. I read this line and immediately I was like OH. MY. HELL... damn you, Slade.. Now for me, I love a man that can talk dirty. Take Hero first meets heroine. Sometimes it tends to be boring... Boy meets girl, boy likes girl, girl becomes sickly in love with boy. Well, insert Aspen and Slade... Slade sees Aspen, Slade walks over to Aspen almost naked, Slade asks Aspen to touch his cock... talk about getting a case of the smut and I love it whip lash.. Shit that was hot.. and this is why I love my book boyfriends.



Throughout the story Slade gets a little cocky, but let's face it, what extremely hot guy isn't? What makes a cocky guy even hotter is when he admits to himself that he has it equally as bad as the female counterpart in question. This is where we begin to get a feel for what's actually going on in that head of his other than "I'm a stripper and I want to F*** you, but come tomorrow I'm tossing you out like the morning garbage because it's my rules and I'll do what I want to"... NOW NOW BEFORE YOU TAKE THIS AS A SLAIN TO SLADE'S CHARACTER HEAR THIS.. what male heroine that is awesome in the sack AND is lick worthy doesn't whore around until the one who's worth changing his ways for comes into the picture?

Throughout the story the two fight their feelings for each other. Sometimes I wanted to slap the two of them and say "Wake up!" The tension was so clearly outlined you could slice it with a knife. They wanted each other, but consequences kept them both fighting it. It was amazing to watch their feelings grow and to watch them finally give in to their wants.

I'm one of those people that love books with rounded characters. I have a very big LIKEBOX when it comes to books. My all time favorite are the characters that have layers; layers that you can peel back one at a time. Erotica is great, but what separates a good book from a great book is a character that is originally misunderstood; a character that can piss off the reader and make him/her hate him and then turn around and grab ahold of your heart and shatter you; make you feel the way they feel. There is nothing I love more than a character that presents himself as shallow and then in the end is a character so lovable that you thrive for more. Slade is that character. The journey through his head is one that will forever hold him in your heart of characters. Slade has many, many layers. As you discard each one, you will think he just gets better and better.

NOW ON TO ASPEN...

Well what do I say about Aspen. In the beginning she comes across as weak, headstrong, and the bitch will drive you crazy... JUST SAYING. There were times I wanted to slap sense into her but the more you get to know her the more you understand her. I love characters that grow from page one to THE END. There was one character that if I could, I would stab with a six inch stiletto and I said this aloud on more than one occasion. In the end though she became a strong, loving, and admirable character.. You really should take the journey through their story...

Now for the author:
I have followed Victoria Ashley since I stumbled upon her first book, Wake up Call on Amazon. Girl, I must say you have grown tremendously as a writer. It has been an absolute honor to read each and every one of her books. The plots get better, the characters get better, and the books as a whole get better. I am a fan for life. I like to pick and play as you can tell in my review, but this book is definitely one I would recommend reading. I don't usually read novella's because I like to have time to fall in love with the characters. It takes the right author to execute a Novella in a way that doesn't piss off the reader or rush the characters. I wasn't sure how this would turn out at first because of this reason, BUT was absolutely blown away at how she handled this story. The characters were developed, the story was developed and the ending was bittersweet in the sense that you long for another installment, but the ending was good enough for it to stand alone. If you read this review I will say that I generally don't read many reviews because I like to form my own judgement, but if you base you purchase decisions off of reviews my HONEST opinion is that you should read this book. Don't take my word for it, read it yourself. You'll be glad you did :)

Holyshitsexonastickcreammypanties Slade Merrick HOTNESS!!! Ok now that that’s out there let’s talk about this book! I absofreakinglutely LOVED it! Victoria set out to experiment with a Novella and I think she blew it out of the park with this one. It is just the right length for a sexy, steamy read that isn’t drawn out. She wrote just enough detail to give the reader the whole storyline and not overdo it. I could not put the book down after I started it and I am glad that I didn’t. I don’t know if I could have slept at all if I stopped half way knowing Slade was on my mind and his story wasn’t finished to me.

Is there another term for sex addict that is much stronger? If there is, that explains Slade Merrick. He loves women and all of the women love him. Working at Walk of Shame nightclub, he has his pick of women to fulfill his time and needs and believe me when I say he doesn’t have to worry about any of them turning him down since almost all of them go there just to find him. This man is sex on a stick and boy does he have a stick to use! Going into this book you start to realize that Slade never gets turned down, until he meets her.
Aspen is and angel in a devils playground to Slade. Once he sees her, he is determined to have her in his bed that same night. What he isn’t expecting is a sassy female who may seem to fall for his tricks, but she has no problem telling him NO. Slade does not like the word NO at all. He has never felt the sting of a female turning him down and he is not about to let that happen. Slade is determined that one way or another he will have her.

Over the span of the week Aspen is there, she tries so hard to dodge Slade’s antics and advances, but she finds herself slipping a little and giving in. Aspen sees that there is a little more to Slade and that there is something he is hiding from. While reading this, you can tell that Aspen wants to fall for Slade, but she wants to break down the wall that makes him the way he is. When she stumbles across his secret, she sees a side of Slade that no one has ever seen.

Sexy men, sassy women, and great sex is what this book is about and I LOVED every second of it. As a reader, you will come across some other emotions when you get further in the story, but all of it is worth the short ride to learn about Slade and Aspen. I really hope in this series of novellas that Victoria is writing that we see more of these two characters. I feel there is more for them and would love to see more. I cannot wait for Cale and Hemy’s books though.
