Growing up in the card family I did, it is required to have a book of rules available. Hoyle is king, but when I sought such a book, Jacoby was the only one available. Given his background with duplicate bridge, it was easy to sign off on it.

Over the years I haven't used this much. Now with the Internet, this reference is somewhat antiquated.
