Leonora Priestley, president of the city council, has vanished—and honestly, her coworkers are just enjoying the peace and quiet. But when checks stop clearing and phones stop ringing, treasurer Walter Stump realizes someone has to care. Enter Jack Harney, Reno’s most overworked private eye, hired to find Leonora fast and hush-hush. J ack ropes in some help—including Spencer, a disgraced detective now directing traffic in a shiny yellow vest. Spencer’s got a plan: crash at Jack’s office, secretly investigate a new street drug, and maybe win his badge back (or at least stop sweating through polyester in the summer heat).
Meanwhile, the sister trio—Nene, Gaga, and newly arrived Beanie—are sneaking through the neighborhood at 3 a.m. chasing weird lights, whispered rumors, and possibly aliens. Gaga's busy wondering who keeps leaving her fancy chocolates. Admirer? Stalker? Candy fairy?
Missing officials. Mystery drugs. Midnight stakeouts. It’s a mess—but Jack and company are on the case. Sort of.
I get most of my exercise these days by shaking my head. Unknown author.
Boy, can I relate, but I try to focus on what's in front of me, usually cake. Da Dum Dum.
Anyway, I'm obviously an author. I served 20 years in the US Air Force and soon after retirement came up with the idea for my first book--which I promptly discarded. It was about insurance fraud and trust me, they make it very hard to steal their money, so I had to come up with a different idea.
Book one is mostly a romantic comedy with a murder mystery thrown in, and while I think it's pretty good especially for a first book, I discovered I enjoyed writing the mystery of the book the most.
So, books two through eight are mysteries.
All the books have a lot of humor in them.
With the exception of book two, which takes place on board an ill-fated cruise ship, my books are set in Reno NV where I spent my teenage years, or some of them anyway.
I would highly recommend reading the book, it has a bit of romance, lots of mystery and a few good laughs. There were a few times I laughed out loud. There were a few places I recognized which made it fun to read. Nene and Gaga are a hoot and now throw another sister in the mix makes it even more enjoyable. I would also recommend starting with the1st book and making your way to the 8th book. Thanks Maryanne, I also got a kick out of some of the other names in the book. (wink, wink)
