No More Yesterdays

Rate this book
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Catherine Bybee lights the fuse, and the Stone siblings must rely on their wits and hearts to uncover a dangerous enemy…and an explosive secret.

Taking over her late father’s company was never part of Alex Stone’s life plan.

But now, sitting in the CEO chair at Stone Enterprises, she’s resigned to living her life alone. Being a high-powered, billionaire woman tends to narrow one’s romantic prospects. As Alex works relentlessly to reshape her inherited hotel empire, she’s acquired a target on her back complete with death threats.

Alex turns to Hawk Bronson, a man who is equal parts bodyguard, sexy, and completely infuriating. Especially when it comes to protecting her.

As the danger escalates, Hawk comes to terms with the fact that their connection goes way beyond bodyguard and assignment. He knows he should keep his distance—his own dark past and nightmares put her at greater risk—but he can’t walk away. Protecting Alex means everything. Putting her life in someone else’s care isn’t an option once he’s tasted their passion and depth of his feelings.

As they navigate a minefield of family secrets, past pain, and unexpected hope, Alex and Hawk must face their deepest fears and fight for a future together. But first, they’ll need to unmask whoever is behind the threats—before Alex becomes their next victim.

3 stars — corporate threats, bodyguards, and... a whole lotta meh

Huge thanks to Montlake & NetGalley for the eARC 💌

🛡️ Bodyguard Romance
🌹 Billionaire Boss Lady CEO
🛡️ Romantic Suspense & Mystery
🌹 Family Secrets & Sibling Loyalty
🛡️ Forced Proximity/Close Protection
🌹 Healing Emotional Baggage

One word? Boring.
And I genuinely don’t know if it’s the book… or if I’m just slipping into a reading slump. Like it had everything I usually love—forced proximity, a badass CEO heroine, bodyguard romance, family drama, danger around every corner—but somehow it felt flat the entire way through.

The pacing dragged, the romance was fine but didn’t hit emotionally, and the suspense felt way too tame for something marketed as “romantic suspense.” It was giving mild mystery, not edge-of-your-seat danger. Even the plot twists didn’t twist. They just… existed.

Hawk was cool, I guess. The bodyguard with trauma and a gruff exterior who secretly wants to protect the girl at all costs? Been there. Liked it better in other books. Alex was strong, capable, the kind of FMC I usually root for—but this time, I felt zero emotional connection. And that’s wild, because I wanted to love her. But she felt more like a checklist than a character.

No real stakes. No real chemistry. No real urgency.
I kept waiting for something—anything—to pull me in. Instead, I was zoning out and checking how many pages were left. Not even the family dynamics (which had potential) were enough to save it. By the halfway point, I just felt... disconnected.

Final verdict? It’s not a bad book. Just a forgettable one.
If you’re really invested in the Stone siblings and already read the first two, maybe this will hit better for you. But as a standalone? It was just mid. And right now, I think I need a break.

━━━━━━━━━━━⊱♡⊰━━━━━━━━━━

Now flipping gears to some romantic suspense chaos... 👀

She’s a billionaire CEO with a target on her back.
He’s the broody bodyguard with baggage.
Together? Straight-up fireworks + danger + forced proximity tension.

I already know Hawk is gonna drive her and me insane in the best way.
Between death threats, slow-burn tension, and buried secrets... this one's not playing around.

Let’s see if Alex and Hawk survive the threats—and each other. 💥💘

One Liner: This was good!

Never did Alex Stone think she would take over her father’s company. But now, as the CEO chair at Stone Enterprises, Alex puts all her energies into rebuilding the empire while dodging the attempts on her life and business, with support from her half-sibling.

Hawk Bronson is Alex’s bodyguard and determined to protect her. With his own past, he cannot afford to get close to her and increase the risk. However, this is easier said than done with their undeniable chemistry.

Alex and Hawk have to face their past, their family secrets, and threats to have a future together.
The story comes in Alex and Hawk’s third-person POVs.

My Thoughts:

After enjoying the previous book in the series, I was excited to read this one, where the story concludes and the loose ends are tied up.

However, the focus is on Alex (Alexandra), the only single Stone sibling since her brothers now have partners. The FMC is strong, independent, and determined, but as the MMC says, she has zero situational awareness.

Like the previous book, this one has a steady pace. Though it is 400 pages long, it never feels stretched out or slow. In fact, I finished it in two days flat.

The MMC is easy to like despite his grumpy exterior. He isn’t afraid to be harsh to make the FMC see the extent of danger she is in. However, he is also very protective and caring.

There are quite a few twists and developments as the story progresses. We can pretty much guess who the actual culprit is, but that’s okay since this is marketed as romance and not a mystery or suspense.

The romance track is nice and has a bit of steam. The supporting characters are a highlight and continue to enhance the storyline. The bonding between the siblings and their partners is lovely to read. No unwanted drama here.

While this still works as a standalone, I think I enjoyed it more since I read at least book #2. The central plot starts in the first book, so if you are particular about details, add all three to your TBR. It won’t take long to finish them anyway!

There’s an epilogue that nicely rounds up everything and gives a solid ending (HEA) to the entire series.

To summarize, No More Yesterdays is a fast-paced romance with a good dose of suspense and a touch of danger. It is a worthy entertainer with a bit of everything to keep you hooked. I’ll be sure to read more books by the author.

Thank you, NetGalley and Montlake, for the eARC. This review is voluntary and contains my honest opinion about the book.

NO MORE YESTERDAYS (The Heirs Book #3) by Catherine Bybee is a wonderful finale to The Heirs trilogy with this story featuring Alexandrea “Alex” Stone. These books can be read as standalone contemporary romances, but the overall story ARC of the siblings inheriting their father’s company and the problems it involves makes me feel the trilogy is best read in order.

With the death of their father, the Stone siblings have had to adapt to new lives with massive wealth. Alex has taken over as CEO at Stone Enterprises with her experience in the hotel business. Taking on the role has also left her feeling she is now limited in her romantic prospects. When Alex receives a death threat, she asks for the help of a security specialist who helped her out previously. He takes on the role of her private bodyguard.

Hawk Bronson is a security specialist who is determined to protect the independent and infuriating Alex. As the danger escalates, so does the personal heat between them.

As they try to discover where the threat against Alex is coming from, they uncover corporate secrets that are far from legal and could put Stone Enterprises at risk. Is this the source of the threat or is there another reason that Alex is in danger from someone close who wants her dead?

This is such an extremely emotionally satisfying ending to The Heirs contemporary romance trilogy! The romance has fun dialogue as Alex and Hawk butt heads, but it also gets serious with Hawk describing the threat and serious circumstances when Alex does not listen. The sexual chemistry builds believably, and the sex scenes are not gratuitous, but feel natural. The suspense subplot had me turning the pages and continually built to a surprise climax I did not see coming.

I highly recommend this book and the entire trilogy! Ms. Bybee always satisfies, and I look forward to every new book.

Multiple twists, romance, and awesome characters.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I have to say that I love the dynamics and the tight togetherness within this new family that Bybee has created. Each of the three siblings comes with their own strengths and support for their family members. You could only wish for that type of support in real life.
I love the character of Alex. She is strong and has the world on her shoulders in terms of the business and protection of her family. But she’s also dealing with a whole lot of other issues.
Her immediate support system has become her bodyguard as he integrates into her life. He is an amazing character and beautifully balances Alex. He takes care of her in every way and becomes a big part of the family dynamic as well.
Bybee adds in plenty of suspense and twists that you don’t really see coming. I literally could not stop reading this book and devoured it in one sitting. It is everything you love in a billionaire romance – touching, steamy, and you fall in love with the characters.
If you haven’t read book one and book two yet now is a great time to start so that when this is published, you’re ready to roll. Definitely one to put on your list. No More Yesterday‘s is addicting and a fabulous read.
Alex + Hawk
We remember the first book... Alex and Chase inherited their dad's multibillion dollar business and to keep the majority against the company's board, they had to find their half brother. Which they did and Max told us his story in book #2.
And this is finally Alex's story.
She's basically running the hotel empire now and it's a lot. Her dad left so many problems behind. She's busy 24/7. No time and no energy left for dating. And it's not really in her future anyway, because who can handle dating a billionaire boss lady?
Enter Hawk. Security expert and soon-to-be Boss Lady Bodyguard.
Let the fun times begin...
Perfect final book in the Stone siblings series.
I was so excited to see who Alex would end up with.
And Hawk is perfect for her.
He's made for taking care of people and Alex is so not taking care of herself.
This was so adorable and funny and sparky and dangerous and exciting and mysterious.
I loved that we got to see all the others a lot in here too.
Great romance and great thrillery element.
I loved reading this!
I would so watch a TV show about the Stones!
NO MORE YESTERDAYS was the perfect final book in this series! Adorable + funny + dangerous + sparky + exciting + sexy + mysterious ... a beautiful romantic suspense love story - loved it!
It's work, work, work, for Alexandria Stone, CEO of Stone Enterprises. She and her siblings inherited her father's company which made them rich. She doesn't have time for a personal life, even if she actually had a guy ask her out. When there is a threat against Stone Enterprises, specifically against Alex, she asks Hawk Bronson, a security specialist, to evaluate the building security. The next thing she knows, Hawk is acting as Alex's bodyguard, not letting her out of his sight.
This is the final book in The Heirs trilogy. It is best if you read these books in order. I thought this was the best of the bunch. Not only do we have the romance between Hawk and Alex, but we have a pretty good mystery with it. The threats on Alex's life seem to tie back to some secret business that her father was involved in. Alex and Hawk, along with both of Alex's brothers and their wives, work to determine what the late Aaron Stone was up to. My ratings: 4.5 Stars.
No More Yesterdays is the third book in Catherine Bybee's "The Heirs" trilogy. And what a continuation of the story it was!
This is Alex's story. Alex and her two brothers inherited their estranged father's billion dollar company. She is a workaholic and doesn't have the time for a relationship. That is until their company is threatened, her life put in danger and they hire a security/protection company.
Alex is fiercely independent and Hawk is assigned to protect her day and night. Their instant chemistry and where it takes the story makes this third book in the trilogy Unputdownable.
Catherine Bybee is a great storyteller and gives us a captivating read!
Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for an arc of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
This book is a wonderful romance with a very, very good mystery/suspense element. As the end of this trilogy, it did not disappoint. Please read the other two books in this trilogy. Trust me. You really want to read, or listen to, the first two books to get the full impact of this one. The narration by Meg Sylvan was wonderful and added to the telling of this story. Her characterizations were spot on and made the characters come alive. I love a strong, take-charge hero and Hawk is all that and more. Alex starts out as a workaholic, driven heroine with no room in her life, but circumstances make her reevaluate that life course. Her siblings and their significant others play a part in the story too. They became a real family.
When Alex Stone's father died, she didn't shed a tear. But she cried plenty at the mess he left behind. 16-hour days were barely adequate to right everything wrong with Stone Enterprises and with the Board fighting everything Alex, Chase and Max wanted to do - who wouldn't shed a tear of frustration. A bomb threat at the company changes everything.
A corporate meet and greet turns out to be something very different and Alex meets Hawk Bronson, a paid security operative for the event. He interrupts a situation that didn't look right and makes a big impression on Alex. Neither can forget the impact of the other and when a bomb threat is leveled against Stone Enterprises and Alex in particular, she calls him to evaluate their security. Alex becomes her personal security, and these two strong personalities have an interesting transition.
Finding the person responsible for the threats leads Alex and Hawk to discover a lot of deeply held secrets concerning her father and to confirm to Alex that inheriting a multi-million-dollar company was not really a gift. Especially not when the secrets put the company and Alex in danger. Hawk knew when he first saw Alex in danger that she was going to be a whole lot more than an assignment for him. Even with his past, he was helpless when it came to the powerful feelings she aroused in him. He would do whatever it took to keep her safe.
My thanks to the Publisher and Author for providing a complimentary digital Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this novel via NetGalley. This is my fair, honest and personal review. All opinions are mine alone and were not biased in any way.
I absolutely loved Alex and Hawk!! Heck, this whole series was fantastic and I'm sad to see it end. Each book captured my attention immediately and I lost sleep so I could read them as fast as I could.
Alex is an awesome heroine. She's strong but stubborn, taking on more than she should. Hawk, a natural protector, was immediately drawn to Alex. The way he protected her even at her most stubborn times, was super hot.
The sparks were flying and I loved reading every minute of this couple's journey.
Ms. Bybee has always been one of my all-time favorite contemporary romance authors. I love the everywoman quality that is infused in every story. They always hold a down to earth quality that makes them extremely relatable and enjoyable to read. The stories are believable and that allows us to truly buy in to whatever crazy situation the characters come up with! And, the two previous books in this trilogy are a couple of my very favorites overall.
While this book displays all of the above qualities, this specific story seemed a bit on the bland side for me. The romance was fine but nothing that really moved me. The “suspense” was very, very tame (well, almost non existent - no one ever got too excited about anything). I guess it was more of a mystery plot than anything. The characters spent the entire book puddling around trying to uncover the culprit who was threatening Alex (FMC). Overall, there really was nothing that kept me wanting to come back for more but nothing that bothered me while reading. It was all just kind of milk toast - tasty milk toast, but toast nonetheless.
I have loved each book in this series, and this one is no exception. Chase, Alexandrea, and Max are not to be trifled with, and as time has gone on since their father died, they uncover more puzzling pieces of information. What exactly was Aaron Stone up to?
The main crux of this story follows Alex and Hawk's relationship. Alex has needed someone for some time, but hasn't allowed anyone in. That is, until she comes across Hawk and there is chemistry, as long as she allows him into her life. I enjoyed the buildup of their relationship. There is even a bit of steam to their bedroom scenes, but nothing over the top, which I appreciated.
I really like both of these characters, but am amazed at how clueless Alex can be regarding her surroundings. I don't know if she just assumes she will be ok, or if she doesn't realize that there are people out there who want to hurt her. She does come to grasp the concept that she needs to be more aware of what is happening around her, but it takes a few incidents to get to that point.
Melissa, the stepmother, is still annoying them regarding the company. I still don't know how she weasled her way onto the board, but she is determined to either get more of the company for herself or put up walls wherever she can.
While this book can be read on its own, it is best to read the first two books to understand the other characters and their relationships.
I recommend picking up this series for your next read. The books were fast reads for me because of the action, and I wanted to know what was going to happen next and where all of this would lead.
We give it 5 paws up.
No More Yesterdays is the third and final book in The Heirs series. It is a mystery romance. This is Alex's story.
I loved the first two books in this series. So I could not wait to read this one. Even though this book has different narrators I would highly recommend reading in order as it's a continuing story.
In the first book siblings Chase and Alex's billionaire father died and left them everything. They were shocked to find out that they had a brother, Max. Now the three siblings run the hotel empire together.
This is a slow burn billionaire/bodyguard romance. Someone is threatening Alex. And while the police try to figure out who is involved she needs protection. Hawk works for a private security company. And he guards Alex. I really enjoyed this set-up. The romance in this book is fantastic. But the mystery is just as amazing. The author has written an interesting story full of great reveals.
All of the main characters from the previous books are in this book a lot. I absolutely love that each sibling got their own book. But I also love that their stories continue in all three books. There is so much more of Chase/Piper and Max/Sarah in this book. And I could not have been happier.
No More Yesterdays is such a good romantic suspense book. I wish that we could get more of these siblings.
Thanks to Montlake Romance and netgalley for allowing me to read this book.
I finished it 15 minutes ago and can already tell it's not memorable. It's not bad, it's just not that good. I haven't read the two previous books but I wasn't really lost, the author made a great job to help her new readers without over-explaining what happened before.
But overall, it was just an okay-ish read. I usually love a bodyguard romance, but the forbidden part of it was inexistent. The plot wasn't really hard to follow, since I kinda knew from the beginning who was the culprit. I was event disappointed to be right.
Can't say much about the romance, since I didn't connect with the characters or their relationship.
Along with her brothers, Alex Stone inherited her father's billions and his company, Stone Enterprises, a hotel empire. Taking over as CEO hasn’t been smooth sailing. Being undermined and second guessed is tiring, especially since Alex has worked in the industry for years. She can deal with all of that, but a dangerous situation at a business event and serious threats directed at her and the company have the Stone siblings evaluating their security. This is where Hawk Bronson and his security team come in.
Hawk and Alex are thrown together as he’s assigned to protect her making the immediate attraction they feel hard to resist. There were intense situations, but they also had some quiet time to get to know each other. I was all in.
The mystery was engrossing and there were a few suspects. Lots of interesting bits discovered in this installment about the company leading to more questions.
No More Yesterdays hooked me from the first page! Mystery, suspense, danger and romance all combined together for an exciting read! I felt like each aspect was balanced nicely. The mystery/series wrapped up in a thrilling and satisfying conclusion!
While No More Yesterdays is part of a series, it could be read and enjoyed as a standalone. Each book is currently available as a “Read and Listen for Free” on Kindle Unlimited.
No More Yesterdays is book 3 in The Heirs series by Catherine Bybee. I read this as a standalone so don't let it being book 3 in a series make you not read it. I really enjoyed No More Yesterdays and found Alex Stone to be a strong, smart woman to root for. Alex is now the CEO of Stone Enterprises, a hotel empire, since her father died. Her 2 brothers work with her to make Stone Enterprises the successful company that they want it to be. When threats are made they have to up their security, including a body guard for Alex. Alex is one of the only women in such a powerful position and many men are threatened by her. Hawk Bronson helps Alex at a dinner party one evening and seems like the perfect fit. He's in the security field and has a lot of past experience protecting people.
As the danger gets too close for comfort, Hawk and Alex, are drawn to one another. Their relationship grows and they find themselves very attracted to one another. Hawk doesn't trust anyone else to keep Alex safe, even though he has an entire team. As the mystery about her family grows, secrets are brought to light, and Alex must face them head on. She comes up against some dangerous men, but has Hawk by her side. They make a great team and I couldn't get enough of them! Will Hawk and Alex be able to find out who the threats are from before it's too late? Will Hawk and Alex have a future beyond this job? I absolutely loved No More Yesterdays and look forward to reading more from Catherine Bybee. The book is out now and if a suspenseful romance is something you enjoy, get this book! I'd like to thank NetGalley and Montlake for an advanced copy of No More Yesterdays in exchange for a fair review. #NoMoreYesterdays
2.5 ⭐️
Ok so this had all the right ingredients … high-stakes suspense, a badass billionaire FMC, a broody bodyguard MMC and some simmering romantic tension. But for me it just didn’t quite hit.
Now full disclosure, I haven’t read the first two books in the series and that might be where I went wrong. I went in purely off the plot blurb (which sounded great, to be fair) but I ended up feeling underwhelmed and a bit bored in places.
To be honest, I think I’m in a reading slump right now. That annoying headspace where unless a book really blows me away, I just don’t connect. So I’m not even blaming the book for this - it might genuinely be a me problem. The writing was fine, and I can see why others have enjoyed it. I might even come back to it later after I’ve read the first two because I suspect the emotional investment is stronger if you’ve been following the characters from the start.
But as a standalone read? It was just okay. Not bad. Just meh.
No More Yesterdays is the thrilling conclusion of Catherine Bybee’s Heirs series about the three children of Aaron Stone that began with All Our Tomorrows. Someone wants Alex Stone dead, but who? This story is filled with speculation and surprises that certainly jack up one’s adrenaline level. This reviewer doesn’t want to give any spoilers except that this story is romantic suspense at its finest…and readers will adore meeting Hawk. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book. Most highly recommend.
I love stories/series surrounding siblings and until the Heirs; I wasn’t really a fan of billionaire romances. However, the Stone children and their brother grew up grounded. I loved getting their stories. While each book contains its own romance and HEA, I recommend reading them in order for the overall series ARCs and spoilers.
Alex is a powerhouse in her own right in the hotel industry. She was successful at a revival company until she came back to Stone Enterprise to run it with her brothers. She is a bit of a workaholic and adores her siblings. I’ve always liked Alex and was eager to see what happened in her story.
Alex has been receiving threats and when those escalate, Hawk Bronson, body guard, security specialist steps in to help. The chemistry between them was sizzling. But can Hawk keep Alex safe? Who is behind the threats? Bybee provided plenty of suspects, including their step-mother.
Hawk was swoon-worthy. He’s alpha, but also respects Alex and knows her worth. We get time with all the siblings as the author revved up the suspense, and the romance deepened. You can also expect character growth, humor, danger, friendships and tender heart-felt moments. While this may take place in the corporate offices of a billionaire hotel company, you’ll also get a down to earth small-town vibe.
This series is perfect for readers that love stories surrounding siblings and want their romances delivered with suspense, mystery, and depth.
No More Yesterdays starts off strong, immediately pulling you in with a suspenseful opening that had me hooked. The tension is palpable from the first few chapters, setting up expectations for a gripping ride. However, the middle portion of the book slows down considerably, with several chapters that felt like they lost the momentum built early on. Thankfully, the pace picks back up toward the end, leading to a satisfying finish.
Even though it’s part of a series, I hadn’t read the earlier books and didn’t feel lost. The author gives just enough background to understand what’s going on without overwhelming you or making you feel like you’re missing something important.
Overall, a solid read with a few pacing issues—worth picking up if you’re in the mood for a story that eventually delivers on its early promise.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 wonderful end to the series. Alex is targeted with a series of threats from the very beginning of the book. Hawk just happens to be there for the first threat and rescues her. As the threats continue, Hawk is hired as Alex’s bodyguard and they can’t deny the sparks between them. Hawk has to work through his trauma and trust Alex, and Alex needs to learn that leaning on someone doesn’t make you weak. Especially when the person you lean on is a Viking. 😉
A couple of my favorite scenes were the snowball fight and the car scene where Alex’s situational awareness is at an all time low. Literally LOLed. What I wasn’t crazy about was the different places the threats were coming from. I think one of them (the main villain) would have been enough.
Can’t wait for Catherine to release a new series!
No More Yesterdays is the final book in The Heirs trilogy. This is Alex Stone's story of finding her happily ever after. Alex's two brothers, have found their match, cut she has been busy running her late father's business. Being the CEO at Stone Enterprises, she’s resigned to living her life alone. Being a high-powered, billionaire woman it's hard to date, and determine if the other person loves her or is after her money. As Alex works to reshape her inherited hotel empire, she’s acquired a target on her back complete with death threats. They hire a security company with Alex having her own bodyguard, Hawk Bronson, an extremely sexy man, but also a completely infuriating one. As the danger escalates, Hawk and Alex realize that they have developed feelings toward one another and it might be too late to keep it just business. With secrets in Hawk's past, and Alex dealing with some issues at work, this tense story ratchets up as it develops.
No More Yesterdays would fit the romantic suspense genre. Alex was frustrating to Hawke, doing things and going places without letting anyone know and doing it alone. Hawke infuriated Alex as he was constantly haranguing her for not taking the danger seriously. I enjoyed their bickering. With the threats increasing, it seemed they had not idea who it was or why. I figured it out before the reveal, which is rare for me. Of course it was someone Alex would never suspect. As well as trying to figure out who was threatening Alex, they uncovered some information and secrets that her father had kept and could possibly destroy the company. She certainly had her hands full. I enjoyed seeing the chemistry develop between Alex and Hawk, along with their fun dialogue and banter. With romance, danger, intrigue and possible fraud, this book had me hooked from beginning to end.
ARC received for an honest review
Yas, Queen Bybee! This is the Stone sibling story I have been waiting for.
And it did not disappoint.
Alex has given up on love, finally settled in to her job as CEO of her father's business (he was a real piece of work, right?), but has given up on love
I was curious as to who she would end up with, and when we meet Hawk, I was hooked. Hooked on Hawk.
He was so perfect for her, I couldn't help but fall for him along with Alex.
So much was going on with this installment, and Bybee has done the series justice wih this final installment. Everything was tied up, but it wasn't an easy road to get there.
I wouldn't mind a short somewhere in the future, letting us know what they are all up to.
Looking forward to what Ms Bybee brings us next.
Thank you NetGalley, Montlake, and Catherine Bybee for the early access copy of No More Yesterdays.
No More Yesterdays follows the story of Alex Stone, who took over her late father's company after his passing. With the demands of her unplanned new role, Alex has come to terms with living life alone, focusing on her new career, and reshaping the hotel empire. What she didn't account for was having a target on her back which led to death threats. In comes Hawk Bronson, the bodyguard that unexpectedly protected Alex when she needed it. Hawk knows he should keep his distance, but when tension builds and sparks fly, is it worth the risk?
This was an action-packed romance, with the mystery of who is threatening Alex, what family secrets will be uncovered, and will Hawk and Alex be able to face their fears for a chance at something real?
least favorite in series
I was looking forward to this one, but sadly it did not deliver. I loved last 2 books, but there was a disconnection in this one. I felt no chemistry between Alex and Hawke and it was a very slow start.
