Meg’s hiding from the law after that event at the border put her on America’s Most Wanted List. She’s not very good at hiding, though, and she’s made a new friend, Reuben. Reuben might be Florida’s cheapest lawyer, but he also has a dark side. One Meg will have to learn about the hard way.
As Meg fights her personal demons, Sparrow tries to lure her back to Hell and Nightingale keeps interrupting her dreams. To make it worse, someone keeps dropping zombies nearby. Will Meg keep running from her heritage or accept her inner demons?

Scarecrow picks up where Nightingale Girl left off, so the series needs to be read in order. Meg is being hunted. Not just by demons and angels, but she is on the America’s Most Wanted list. Enter her lawyer, Reuben. She doesn’t know it yet, but she gets more than she bargained for with Reuben. She travels from Heaven to Hell to the Earthly plane and back again. Sparrow wants her to return to Hell to be with him, but I don’t blame her for being hesitant. Sooner or later, she will have to choose between the dark and the light, good and evil. The zombies are rising, choices will be made…AND, WOW, that ending. I sure didn’t see it coming….and I LOVE IT.
Review: After how utterly unique and twisty the first book was and how amazingly character-driven and intriguing the second book was, this was a disappointment. Pretty much all the things I loved from the previous books (aside from the setting and somewhat Meg's voice) weren't there, and I was confused about everything. This whole book just seemed to be characters popping in and out and saying/doing cryptic things, Meg jumping from one random thing to another, the plot jumping around, things happening with no real explanation, and characters making unbelievable, forced decisions. Everything felt very disjointed and deus ex machina. I liked the outcome of what happened to Meg at the very end because it will likely make the next book interesting, I just didn't like the messy plot that got her to that point. I'm still going to give the series another chance though because of how good the first two books were and because I'm invested in these characters. As long as the next book gets back up to standard, this will still be a series that's worth it.
HOW does this series just KEEP getting better?!?!?!?! (and this is only book 3/13 for just this first series! - I CANNNOT WAIT!
We dive even more into Meg and Sparrow's story, see some more of Jack, Noah, and Nightingale, some more of Meg's devilish grandfather, angelic father, her spirited mother, the mortal realm, the Heavenly one, and the Hellish one all three, more zombies/undead, more vampiric fun, more spice, weird new unlikable crowheaded Scarecrow, and soooo much more.
Meg and Sparrow both just can't keep themselves out of trouble, finding more ways to bother, piss off, and cause their own brand of trouble and headaches in both the ethereal and mortal realms, and HOLY mary jfc the twist at the end - I have more questions just as I predicted, have a few answers to some of my previous ones, and none at all for others yet and I can't wait - going right into book 4 now :D

At first I wasn’t in love with this book. I loved “Sparrow Man”and “Nightingale Girl” but this one just didn’t have as much to pull me in...until I got to the end. And now, holy crap, I can’t wait until the next book comes out!!
The last few days have been lost devouring this incredible omnibus and as such, it is one to keep for a re-read where it can be savoured
The three books within complement each other beautifully and reflect the growth of not just the protagonist, Meg, but also the skill of the author.
The story is woven back and forth between the books and in a similar fashion to LOTR, each book raises questions, answers them and elaborates further. I am very glad this is an omnibus as I would have been on tenterhooks waiting for each book!
In the beginning, I saw glimmers of The Walking Dead amd I was thrilled as, lets be real, zombies! However, the omnibus twists and turns and grows into so much more than just another post-apocalyptic zombie tale. I am not going to elaborate on how, I will just say they are a factor of the saga, not the main performance
Meg is a fantastic protagonist, multi-dimensional and certainly not perfect and that is what adds something special to this book for me. She's relatable and I found my heart breaking for her one minute and being as frustrated as anything with her the next. That is a great character for me. She is interesting and her personal journey is wholly unexpected
Book 1: The Sparrow Man and Book 3: ScareCrow are certainly my favourites, but Book 2, Nightingale Girl had me intrigued at how everything could come together
On finishing the omnibus, I was both exhilerated and exhausted. Absolutely wonderful
This omnibus is absolutely brilliant and I am looking forward to reading more from this author
