She saves lives. He plays the hero. But can they write their own love story?

Dr. Clara Upford is no stranger to pressure in the operating room, but nothing prepares her for the day Hollywood superstar Taylor Anderson steps into her hospital. He's there to shadow her as research for his new role as an anaesthetist, but from the moment they meet, sparks fly.

Taylor is charming, down-to-earth, and more interested in Clara than any script. As they spend time together, the connection between them deepens. Yet Clara can’t shake the doubts lingering from her last relationship—one that ended in heartbreak when her ex cheated. How can she trust a man whose life is full of temptation and attention from millions?

Caught between her growing feelings and her fears, Clara must decide if she’s willing to take a chance on love again, or if Taylor’s fame makes him unreachable. Taylor, on the other hand, is ready to prove that his interest in Clara is as real as it gets—if only she’ll let him.

In a romance where two worlds collide, can they find a way to make it work, or will their love story fade to black?

Doc Hollywood is a heartwarming, closed-door romance filled with slow-burn tension, witty banter, and genuine emotional stakes. Perfect for readers who crave low-heat chemistry, strong women, and swoony, sincere leading men.
Burra Creek Romance books are interconnected, but can be read in any order.

I'm SO disappointed. I was loving the book, it's slow burn, H/h were slowly getting together until someone from his past shows up blackmailing him with a video of him in an orgy with drugs from years ago. He now has to fake date ow, his co- star, in exchange for it to be not released and he agrees.

He touches, hugs and does all the intimate gestures to ow in front of h. He actively ignores h while doing it all. It was exactly the same gestures that he had done with her earlier. So how exactly is it special to H/h? We don't see his pov, we never know if he was enjoying his time with ow.

Devon touched him, flirted with him, smiled coyly up at him. Every touch that Taylor reciprocated, his eyes only for Devon and apparently unaware of anyone else in the room, was like a shard of glass to her heart.

Although Clara couldn’t help it, she kept glancing over at Taylor, feeling the little stabs of glass every time Devon touched him, and he touched her back.

His eyes finally locked with hers over the top of the petite actress’s head, and for a moment, she believed that everything would work out in the end; maybe she would get the man. The spell was broken when Taylor gazed down at Devon and brushed his fingers over her cheek.

She did believe him when she was with him, that he genuinely liked her. But he also now looked like he genuinely liked Devon. Was everything with her an act as well?

Another time - She tried not to look at Devon collapsing against Taylor the second he was within reach and tried to ignore the stab of jealousy that rolled over her when she saw the actor sweep Devon up into his arms and carry her out of the room as she wept on his shoulder.

This goes on for weeks where he lives it up with ow, while also dangling the carrot in front of h. He texts her after his date with ow, texts her after his lunch with ow etc and she just takes all the crumbs he throws her way. Whatever happened to the ballbuster of the woman she was until then? Yes, it gets revealed later that ow is a lesbian but at that point damage has already been done.

‘What are you doing this afternoon?’

‘I’m going to a late lunch with Devon at a waterfront café. Brian has arranged with local photographers to get some shots of us together.’

Clara gazed at his message and was close to throwing her phone, as the thought of him and Devon made her feel nauseous.

In the end, she typed a polite reply. ‘I hope the food’s good.’

It was the best she could muster when all she wanted to do was tell him she was wrong and that they should give themselves a chance to see what would happen between them.

‘It’s supposed to be the best in the area.’

‘Nice.’ Staring at her phone, Clara debated trying to say more but left it, thinking their exchange was over until a final message popped up on the screen.

‘I wish I could take you instead. I’ll message you later.’

“Shit,” Clara cursed, and this time she did throw her phone.

Later that day, she couldn’t stop herself from checking social media for new pictures of Taylor. He was plastered everywhere with Devon, and there were rumours and speculation about the hottest new couple in Hollywood. The rest of her time on set was going to be torture

Once more - ‘I wish I could have taken you to Sunday lunch at Tony’s.’

Clara snatched her phone up. She had been trying hard not to think about Devon sitting by Taylor’s side in her place. She quickly corrected herself: It wasn’t her place by his side, but it was her invitation to lunch.

‘Did she hate it?’

‘No, she loved them all. Nonna taught her how to make perfect garlic bread. She had a great time.’

Clara clenched her fists as the waves of jealousy washed over her. ‘That’s good.’

‘Yeah. She’s surprisingly good company.’

Clara’s fists clenched tighter. This was what she had been afraid of; she was just a novelty to a man who had so many options

He can mess around with ow but h is not allowed to because this is his response to her receiving flowers from her patient. - “Are those flowers? Are you dating someone?” His voice was sharp, and a frown drew down at the corner of his eyes

He invites her to the movie premiere that he's attending with ow, knowing that their sex scene from the movie would be played. He obv gave zeros shits to how h might feel. Throughout the book, world revolves around him, he gets to have his cake and eat it too. Get this -She had to wait until he finishes dating ow for them to get together. It only happens at the very end, after pages and pages of his romance with ow and her hurt over watching them. Nope, such stuff will always remain a horror plot than romance to me 😩

I loved this book so much! Doc Hollywood gave me everything I crave in a romance- my sizzling chemistry, emotional depth, and that addictive Grey’s Anatomy vibe that keeps your heart racing in more ways than one.

Taylor and Clara's connection was instant but beautifully complicated. I couldn’t get enough of them - their vulnerability, and the way they slowly peeled back each other’s walls. Their chemistry leapt off the page, but it was the emotional beats that really hit home.

One of my absolute favorite scenes was when Clara had to jump into action on set and save a life. It was such a powerful moment - raw, intense, and perfectly showed off Clara’s strength and heart. I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough!

And don’t even get me started on Taylor standing up to Clara’s lowlife ex - it was pure magic. I was cheering out loud. That scene, combined with Clara finally confronting her past and giving her ex a long overdue piece of her mind, made me tear up. Watching her reclaim her voice and self worth was so empowering.

This book is not just a romance, it’s a journey of healing, courage, and finding love where you least expect it.
I laughed, I swooned, I got a little misty eyed and I didn’t want it to end. If you're looking for a heartfelt, fun, and seriously amazing read, Doc Hollywood is it.

I absolutely loved this story and bonus points for being an Aussie author! Taylor is a famous actor shadowing Clara, an anaesthetist, while he prepares for an upcoming role. Posing as a medical student so he isn't recognised, he spends long days with Clara.

The camaraderie in the medical settings was spot on and I loved that Clara is *that* Consultant who genuinely cares for the Trainees and even maintains a spare room for them so they don't have to drive home when tired. Luckily Taylor is also tired after a long shift so they spend time hanging out in her home getting to know each other.

The chemistry was immediate with these two and it was such a delightful slow burn, friends to lovers, sometimes secret romance. No spoilers but there were so many will they/won't they moments, the comfort they felt with each other and the slow burn was top notch. A spanner in the works interrupts their budding romance which genuinely mad me so sad for them, but it was an interesting element to the story.

Clara has a dark abusive relationship in her past which is referenced throughout so consider this if triggering, but she does get the opportunity to take her power back.

Bonus, check out the author's instagram feed for some amazing art to accompany chapters in the book. These would make great overlays for a hardcover edition! I'm excited to read more from Quinn Hart in the future.

This book is a heartwarming and hilarious book that captivated me from start to finish. This book is the perfect blend of humor and emotion, bringing the quaint town and its endearing residents to life. The characters are wonderfully vivid and relatable, making you feel right at home in the cozy setting. The plot is engaging, filled with unexpected twists, and infused with meaningful lessons about love, community, and discovering one’s true purpose. I love how this book created deeply emotional moments while keeping the tone light and uplifting. This is a feel-good story that leaves a lasting impression, which reminded me the importance of human connection and the joy of finding a place to call home. I couldn’t put this book down and was genuinely sad to see it end.

This book is a must-read for anyone in search of a delightful escape and a story that will leave you with a smile on your face and warmth in your heart.

I discovered this author some days ago wanting to read indie authors and I finished her book in two days.

I love the history, for me it's something new, she is a anesthetist and him is a movie star.

The MC's are fun and relatable, you can identify with the FMC and the MMC is a walking green flag.

If I had to say something bad, the final was a bit rushed but otherwise, I enjoy it very much :)

I found this to be a charming, sweet book and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Clara is an anaesthetist in Australia and quite good and dedicated to her job. She is less than thrilled when she is assigned a Hollywood actor to shadow her for a week for a movie he will be starring in soon. Clara is expecting some Hollywood type but Taylor couldn’t be further from that. Instead he’s a down to earth kind of guy who loves acting but not the least bit thrilled with all the perks.

Clara is completely smitten with and attracted to him but doesn’t believe for a second that he could be anything more than a friend. But Taylor doesn’t have a shred of vanity or pretentious about him and sees right from the start what a special person she is. So this is the warm hearted story of the two of them falling in love and dealing with how different their lifestyles are. Clara has a more difficult time of it as she is still dealing with issues from an extremely toxic relationship she was in and still suffers from a low self esteem.

This is a feel good book that had me smiling throughout. It was hard to put down and I finished it in just over a day. It’s a slow burn and in effect didn’t even have any sex scenes. But that didn’t bother me. I actually enjoyed it for a change of pace. It’s available on KU and gets my seal of approval. Quinn Hart is an author I’m going to be keeping an eye on.

This was a really cute read, and really great for a debut novel! I think my only criticism is the trauma/info dump in the beginning of the book. And that Jack deserved a beat down but the Russian mafia, not forgiveness from Clara 🫠

I really loved Clara and Taylor together!

I enjoyed this book, especially the growth and strength of the FMC Clara. She was smart, strong, and caring; yet she was manipulated and treated poorly by her ex. I love that the author didn’t make her a weak woman. Strong, intelligent women can be victims of emotional and physical abuse.
“It always amazed her that one man could do so much damage and then move on without a care in the world.”
Clara’s care and concern for others was always evident in how she treated everyone at the hospital. She put others before herself, and she always wanted to think the best of others. So she tried to think the best of Jack too.
“Life wasn’t that funny when you had to constantly walk on eggshells, waiting for what would make the other person explode. This line stopped me in my tracks! I was in a relationship where I felt this way, and it brought back some painful memories. The author truly wrote with such authenticity about this type of toxic relationship.
The strength shown in Clara to never use what happened to her as an excuse and to deal with it all without complaining was admirable. She never played the victim or wanted people to feel sorry for her problems. She dealt with them head on.
I also admired how she stood up to Mr. Atrosky. She believed in her own knowledge and skills as a doctor! I don’t want to give spoilers, but I thought that situation was so interesting to read and the result of it made such a difference in her life.
Now for Taylor, the MMC. I loved his humor, work ethic, and his kindness to everyone. I appreciated that the author didn’t succumb to the toxic and dangerous trope of the MMC being a total jerk and “changing” when he meets the right woman! I was rooting for Taylor, while also understanding Clara’s position. The buildup of their friendship was written perfectly to me. I’m a fan of watching a romance and toleration ship grow and mature. Some authors just add pages of gratuitous spice that doesn’t illustrate the growth of the true relationship. This author didn’t a great job of writing a romance that meant something to the characters; thus it meant something to the reader.
I can’t wait to read another book by Quinn Hart. I also enjoyed learning some of the different terms between Australia and America. I actually found the book because the author is on Threads and I posted about wanting a feel good book that wouldn’t bring me down because I was already depressed. This book was perfect because it has some true substance, while also being a great feel good story!

Doc Hollywood by Quinn Hart is a captivating romance that perfectly blends the high stakes of life-saving medicine with the allure of Hollywood glamour. Dr. Clara Upford is a skilled and dedicated anaesthetist whose world is shaken when she’s tasked with mentoring Hollywood superstar Taylor Anderson. What starts as a professional shadowing soon evolves into a sizzling, emotional connection that tests Clara’s trust and vulnerability.

Hart masterfully explores the dynamic between Clara and Taylor, drawing readers into their blossoming relationship with compelling chemistry and raw emotional depth. Clara’s internal struggle—caught between her fears of heartbreak and her growing attraction to Taylor—is both relatable and poignant, making her journey of self-discovery and healing all the more satisfying. Taylor, meanwhile, is more than just a charming celebrity; he’s a man determined to prove that his feelings for Clara are genuine, and his authenticity shines through in every scene.

The medical aspect of the novel is expertly woven into the story, giving it a layer of realism and showing Clara’s dedication to saving lives, while also capturing the tension of balancing a demanding career with the unpredictability of love. The contrast between Clara’s professional, high-pressure world and Taylor’s celebrity lifestyle creates an interesting backdrop for their romance, highlighting the struggles of trust, fame, and finding balance in an overwhelming world.

Doc Hollywood is a heartwarming, high-stakes love story that is impossible to put down. With a perfect blend of humor, passion, and emotional depth, it’s a must-read for fans of romantic dramas. Quinn Hart has created a story that will resonate long after the last page is turned. Highly recommended!

4.75 - 5 stars.

I have totally immersed myself in this story, I was 100% can't talk I'm in the zone to those around me. My heart has been happy and sad as I read this, the honesty these two had, the things they shared and the way they influenced each other was lovely to read. I felt a connection to them both and really enjoyed seeing Clara and Taylor become friends and then something more. I really loved that even through tough times their connection never broke and they found a way to hold on to each other. I loved how amazing and strong Clara was professionally, and that she was finally surrounded by good people who could show her how amazing and wonderful she was as a whole person.

I have enjoyed reading this story so much and have already gone back and read key moments again as when I got to the end of their story I wasn't ready to say goodbye to them, I wanted to read more of their life together, their experiences, their love and more of Taylor's mum as she made me smile.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a really sweet story. It is a slow burn, but the chemistry was there from the beginning. I loved seeing their relationship grow, from getting to know each other and trusting one another, to actively trying to make it work, despite their completely different lives.

I really liked Clara. She shows herself vulnerable but still keeps a strong mindset and is very clear in her intentions and her goals. I enjoyed seeing her gain confidence and, in doing so, allowing herself to see where this realtionship with Taylor might take them.

I thought Taylor was super sweet. He falls first, and he shows it. He won’t let anything stop him from getting to know Clara and spending time with her, but in a really cute way. I loved how he opens up to her and gives her a safe space to do the same. I also had so much fun reading about his relationship with his mom.

It was really easy to read, though I did feel like there was some repetition throughout the story, especially when it comes to Clara’s past. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book.

Sometimes, I can't help but wonder if these authors are actually men or just women who dislike other women...
Why would I want to read a "romance" about a guy dating another woman for 90% of the book and rubbing in the FMCs face the whole time. And then have the audacity to get bitchy when he thinks someone is sending her flowers and he thinks she's dating... while he dates someone else... Get f*cked, bud...
And it's always gotta be some highly educated professional woman, and instead of standing up for herself, she just accepts it..
All these reviews keep talking about "the chemistry." What chemistry!? He literally tells her all about his dates with his GF and what good company she is, She's forced to watch them paw all over each other. He even takes her to watch his sex scene with the GF.
The fmc in this is the OW .. just sitting on the side lines, eating up scraps of affection, and just waiting to be picked ..

I would give this zero stars if I could.....

I really enjoyed this slow burn romance. I loved how the FMC and MMC developed a connection early on and became good friends(with obvious feelings for the other). Taylor was great guy and wanted to do anything to be around Clara. I was so sad when extenuating circumstances made it so they couldn’t be together yet. You could tell they had such yearning for each other and I felt so bad for Clara because of her past relationship being so terrible. (I hated her ex Jack sooo very much and was glad he was only in memories most the book!)
I really enjoyed Clara in action saving a life, and the friendships she made because of it. The pacing was great and I was cheering Clara on when she came face to face with Jack again, and loved Taylor being right by her side. The ending was so sweet and a perfect HEA. Great read!

If you’re a fan of slow burn and kick your feet rom-com moments, this is the book for you! I loved that the writer is an actual doctor, so you get an accurate depiction of all the medical scenes in the book. If you’re a fan of worlds colliding and medical romance books, check this one out. I also loved that we didn’t get a twenty-something FMC (that just somehow had the job she has for her age). She’s thirty-five and a hard working doc recovering from the trauma of an abusive relationship. When she meets Hollywood movie star, Taylor who shadows her to learn about the new role he’s playing, the sparks fly immediately and the journey of their love story you get taken on is one you don’t want to miss.

Hello, for my first book review/post I have the joy of reviewing Quinn's first book, Doc Hollywood.

This slow burn, closed door romance was amazing to read. The characters were fun, sassy, intelligent and they made you fall in love with them. Quinn has written a beautiful love story. Fantastic read, with a lot of nuanced characters and a sweet plot.

Clara and Taylor are perfect for each other even if they don't want to admit it. The banter between them is soooo good and the journey to their HEA is perfect. I was giggling like crazy in some scenes and holding my breath in others. Pub Quiz for the win. 😉🤣

Look forward to more from Quinn.

For fans of celebrity romances (which I absolutely am!), this was such sweet and heartwarming read. I love when the untouchable guy falls for the average girl. There's just something so thrilling about the premise, and Quinn Hart did it well.

Taylor and Clara were adorable, and I felt myself really resonating with Clara's insecurities and quieter personality. Taylor was such a sweetheart, and so protective and devoted.

If you're looking for a cozy read with a swoon-worthy hero, this is the one!

This is such a cute read! I found this book through the Indie author Quinn Hart over Threads and Instagram. It’s super easy to read so I was able to fly through it. With a cinnamon roll MMC, and a smart, talented doctor (anesthesiologist) FMC I was already hooked. There’s no spice here, but the romance still has you kicking your feet hoping for things to work out. If you need a quick, easy, feel-good read, this is for you!

I enjoy a romance with research.
The knowledge of the hospital setting and roles was thorough, however, it was giving more, 'I want to show you every piece of hospital jargon I know', rather than well-researched. It is crucial to explain medical terminology if you are using it, rather than throwing in acronyms and terms merely to boost ego.
Could have do with another round of editing to remove repeat phrasing.
Personally couldn't look beyond this.

Taylor was so sweet, and I really appreciated Clara's character. She was strong, yet vulnerable, and I liked getting to watch her evolve and work through her demons and insecurities in a realistic way. I was really enjoying this.

Then the FMC complained that she wasn’t tiny and was “5’6 60kg” and again complained later she wasn’t 50kg like the actress.

This made me uncomfy. There are ways to write how that character felt without numbers and things that could be hurtful to read.

A tad cheesy but otherwise pure, escapist wish-fulfilment fun. I appreciate that the medical parts came off as pretty authentic (I say pretty bc I’m not a doctor or nurse to tell) and also Clara’s backstory experiencing domestic violence. I breezed right through this.

Overall a fun read! Absolutely adored Taylor, and Clara’s growth was lovely to see!

I had hoped for more conflict arising from the “worlds colliding” (like more fallout from Taylor and Devon’s fake relationship, for example) rather than just Clara healing from her past with Jack.
