Filled with suspense and psychological depth, this gripping novel challenges readers to confront moral dilemmas and question how well we really know those we love.
Superb. 5-Stars! The main characters come alive, the plot is intriguing, and the resulting ending very appropriately fits, all set in New York City ca:1960’s.
The Jewish logic throughout weaves an appropriate and satisfactory ending, one that resonates.
Fell in love with Frank, the Holocaust survivor 1970s sleuth in Golobcow's first book of three novellas. This time his grandson and granddaughter-in-law join the team to help solve this case. Franks's knowledge and perception goes beyond the ordinary, as he quietly and methodically seeks the truth. Eagerly awaiting the next case!
I liked the book at first because the protagonist reminds me of my grandfather—always polite, always scrupulous about treating everyone, from TV personalities to janitors with dignity, never losing his temper. I ended up liking the book because the detective, an ex-rabbi, looked not just at who committed the murder, but at who was complicit. A thought-provoking read.
I found this book to be interesting and useful. Although this book is about the murder of a Jewish woman, the investigational work by the detective was so thorough and thoughtful non-Jews will enjoy it as much as Jews. It also has some somewhat hidden meanings to the behavior’s which many people exhibit and helps us to be more aware of what we say and how it may be interpreted by others. Because I am not familiar with New York City, I found some of the sections had, what I considered too much details or descriptions of the areas of the city. People familiar with the city and areas might like that type of detail. Interesting, informative and fun read.
