When Karma comes knocking, will you heed Its warning?

When tragedy strikes, the McIntyre family's idyllic staycation takes a devastating turn, leaving 11-year-old Rhys and his father Jonny drowning in guilt and remorse.

Amid their turmoil stands Elizabeth, a mother doing everything she can to hold the family together as they navigate their new reality — all while secretly searching for her long-lost sister, Elisa, who vanished nearly two decades ago. Little does Elizabeth know that Elisa is closer than she ever imagined. And she’s nursing a profound grudge and plotting revenge that will strike at the heart of the McIntyre family.

As the fates of these intertwined characters collide, Karma herself intervenes with a monumental task at hand… to navigate a web of destiny, guilt, and vengeance before it is too late.

For fans of Alex Michaelides' The Silent Patient, Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl, and Liane Moriarty's Big Little Lies, When Karma Comes Calling is a riveting story of redemption and resilience and pushes the boundaries of contemporary speculative fiction, delving into themes of guilt, forgiveness, and the enigmatic power of fate.

Prepare for a journey that challenges perceptions and leaves you pondering the intricate workings of karma itself.

A real page turner that keeps you up past your bedtime! I enjoyed reading this, although I only gave it 4 stars as I wanted a few things explaining/tidying up. Nevertheless, I am looking forward to further releases and can't wait to read more by this author!

This book is a gripping exploration of the human psyche, set against the backdrop of a family tragedy that unravels the delicate threads of guilt, remorse, and the quest for redemption. The story centers on the McIntyre family, whose seemingly perfect staycation is shattered by an unforeseen calamity. Eleven-year-old Rhys and his father, Jonny, are left grappling with the weight of their grief, each wrestling with their own feelings of inadequacy and blame.

At the heart of the narrative is Elizabeth, the resilient mother who strives to keep her family afloat amidst the chaos. Her character is a poignant representation of maternal strength and vulnerability, as she juggles her family's grief while secretly embarking on a quest to find her long-lost sister, Elisa.
However Elizabeth’s motivations often come across as superficial, and her character development is stunted, making it difficult for readers to empathize with her plight. The emotional stakes are further diminished by the lack of nuance in her relationships with other characters.

As the plot unfolds, the reader is introduced to Elisa, who has been nursing a deep-seated grudge against the McIntyre family. Her character adds a chilling dimension to the story, as her motivations become clearer and her plans for revenge take shape. The author skillfully builds tension, weaving a narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats, eager to uncover the truth behind Elisa’s disappearance and her connection to the McIntyres.

The theme of karma serves as a powerful undercurrent throughout the novel, prompting readers to reflect on the consequences of one’s actions and the intricate web of fate that binds us all. The narrative challenges the notion of justice, suggesting that sometimes, the universe has its own way of balancing the scales.

The writing style is both evocative and accessible, drawing readers into the emotional landscape of the characters. In conclusion, this is a compelling story that deftly intertwines themes of guilt, revenge, and the quest for redemption. I recommend this book to everyone.

I enjoyed this book, didnt take too long to get gripped by the story and want to know how it unfolded. I enjoyed how the characters developed and am looking forward to reading the novellas. There were a few things that could have been tidied up a little and left me a little unsatisfied but overall I loved it and enjoyed the concept of karma as an entity.
