3.5 stars Marie Harte always creates such wonderful characters, that is what always draws me into her books. Trevor and Emma were a nice wrap up to this trilogy of a trio of couples. Definitely on the dirtier side, also, caution, there is a stalker subplot but with Trevor's 'skills' he is the one to help catch the bad guy and fall hard for Emma.
Trevor Doran and Emma Clark seem an unlikely pair, but the former government specialist turned financial investigator and the quiet bakery owner are a match made in heaven.
But first there’s a threatening job situation and an unwanted secret “admirer” they need to deal with…
Marie Harte’s WETWORK is the third in her The Works series, and is a satisfying stand-alone close to the series.

This is book three in “The Works” series. This is a story between Trevor Doran and Emma Clark. Trevor is Maggie’s brother (her story was told in book 2). We met him briefly in book 2. Trevor is an ex-spy who is now working for a security company. He meets Emma at Maggie’s game night party. Trevor came, thinking it was just a friendly get together with friends, not realizing his sister is setting him up. Emma is a baker. She was invited along with two other women. She’s very shy. She is trying to fade into the background; Emma thinks Trevor is very handsome but the way her life and luck is running, he is not going to give her the time of day. Ahh but fate has put these two people on a course straight for each other. Fate has a hand in getting these two people into each other's lives. It isnt smooth sailing but Trevor realizes Emma needs help and not just help but needs him, he cant resist her. As for Emma, she sees Trevor as very good looking but as someone who is sad, lonely. And she knows whats thats like. Thats what draws the two together and from there fate works it magic. The story abounds from the there and grows and twists and turns...
I love how Trevor stands up for Emma; how he lets it be known they’ll be heck to pay if she is hurt in any way. I love how Emma came out of her shell and stood up for herself. I am so glad that we got to revisit past characters. AND I really really HOPE we get a book for Trevor’s co workers –jus’ saying
This story has the action going; has the romance packed on. It is such an awesome read that you will not want to put it down until it is done. So glad Trevor has his HEA.
Pace: Passionate, and Action Packed The Likeability Factor: I'd happily do a re-read multiple times. My Rating: *****

Emma Clark has been running Treats 'n' Sweets the local bakery for three years. Emma has made close friends since taking over from her aunt who passed away including Maggie who is an artist and Shelby who owns Bodywork.
Trevor Doran is still trying to settle back in to a normal life since coming back to Seattle. Working covert operations has taken its toll and he has decided to be closer to his sister Maggie and take up a job with a local security company.
Still needing the feel of adrenaline Trevor sometimes missed his past. Invited by his sister to a games night Trevor arrives to see several cars in the drive he knew some but not all. He soon realises his sister had also invited a few of her single friends thinking he needed a date. Two of the women were attractive and made their interest know but it was Maggie's friend Emma that caused him to pause. Trevor soon ends up at Emma's bakery unable to get her out of his head he decides to ask her out. Just as they are getting to know each other trouble strikes and Emma is in danger. Trevor must find the person responsible and end it, but things don't always go as they should.
I loved this book the suspense driven storyline and the dynamics between the characters were perfectly melded together to bring us Wetwork. I look forward to reading more of Marie Harte in the future.
I love The Works series from Marie Harte and was delighted when I heard that the 3rd book was gonna focus on Trevor Doran.
We were introduced to the main man briefly through his sister Maggie's story in book #2, 'Working Out' and in book #1, 'Bodywork' which featured Shelby & Shane!
The third book gave us the heat, passion and sexiness that we have come to expect from Marie when it comes to this series but this time there was also action, suspense and a healthy dose of kink!!!!
I really liked Trevor, he had a dominant personality but wasn't a macho-man fool.... Emma was a little bit of a softie at times when it came to certain people but Trevor seemed to bring out another side of her!
We caught up with Shelby, Shane, Maggie & Mac.... and let's not forget Mimi & Ron - as if we could overlook that zany pair!!!!
A quick, hot fun read, my only grumble is that it was over too quick for me..... I could quite happily sit and read about this group of friends for ages!!!
A definite series to check out. If you like a sexy story with heat, loads of attraction, likeable characters and a story that keeps you entertained, THE WORKS books should be on your TBR list!!!!!!
** I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my HONEST review **
Gotta love those ex-spies and those shy, demure bakers! Okay, so I think that may be a stretch, I am sure I would not love all of them the way I loved these two.
There were only a few problems I had with the story, aside from the 'let it be a rat' awfulness. There is a certain way to write Sir/Master scenes that just seems out of place. It isn't that it is bad, it is that it surprises you because it doesn't seem to flow out of the story. That was the case here, but they aren't plentiful, so it doesn't distract from anything
This isn't an epic, it is a short, quick read. The best part about that is it gets to the heart of the matter and no dallying, and I really like that in a book.
We have a stalker, who is it? A sister and her creepy boyfriend, to add conflict! Strange nerdy guy in next store, what is up with him? Protective foreign neighbours at home, to add support! These are the new ones, because from our other 'works' stories, Shelby, Shane, Maggie, Mac, and most importantly, Mimi and Ron are back
This was a quick and entertaining read, and the love story between the two main characters has you swooning for them as well,
Love this book. I felt a little out of the loop at the beginning because I hadn't read the first two novels but I caught on quick. I love Trevor and Emma they are perfect for each other. I love getting to know the side characters as well. The shyness of Emma kinds was off putting but I'm also a very outgoing person and am doing the dragging kicking and screaming of my friends places. Trevor is so sweet as he goes at Emma's pace. Where oh where are guys like hiking real life. Would reccomend this book to anyone. I love everything Marie harte puts out.
This is more of a ★★★ 1/2 stars read for me. I loved the first half of the story, especially when it was focusing on the interactions between Emma and Trevor. However, there were too many storyline going on. The ending felt rushed and all the different problems were unnecessary and a little convoluted. I would recommend this story though, just because of how wonderful the first part of the story was.
To me, this was a very short and straight-forward entry in the series, but not a very good one! We did get little peeks into the previous couples of the series, but I didn't really see the chemistry between Trevor and Emma outside of their D/s leanings. The story line was also a little bit far fetched as well, and I had to struggle to keep my interest in it. Just not a great installment in the series for me, and one I wound up rounding up on.
After reading the first two books in this series, I started the third book. I'm sorry to say I could not get into it. I love me an Alpha Male. But when Trevor made her start calling him sir....that was the story line for the second book. Sorry to say that ruined the book for me. It got the big red stamp DNF!
Wetwork is an awesome read! It can be read as a stand alone. I loved Trevor, wounded in the soul from a lost love and wanting more from Emma. Emma is shy, but into Trevor. Then a secret admirer starts to bother Emma and Trevor steps in to help her. This is a really good romance book, with some heat!!!

This book just didn't match up to the first two books in the series which I both loved! I'm a bit disappointed. I had been looking forward to Trevor's story too, but it didn't do much for me.
I enjoyed it. Don't know if i liked it as much as the other two but still good. I need to learn to just write the review as soon as i get done with the book:)
