An old menace has returned to destroy her town. Will a young mage and her large dragon be enough?
Raven’s grandfather, Connor Alby has taken off and she has suddenly found herself alone and boarding at Fowler Academy.
The Swarm approaches from above and below, and these monsters don’t know how to quit. Will the old wizards be able to teach the young fighters how to finally win?
Raven and her friends have barely started school and don’t know how to harness their magic or their familiars, yet. Did I mention Raven’s familiar is a very large dragon?
Raven and Leander have learned how to work as one, but it’s going to take more than that to win this war. Will Bella be her ally or another obstacle to saving the town? Can the Swarm finally be defeated?
Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
Raven has much to learn, an interesting situation to deal with, and needs to continue strengthening her bond with Leander, her dragon familiar. We see friendship, determination, bravery, and varying types of humour and wisdom. I truly snorted and laughed quite loudly at some points, and vastly enjoyed reading it.
When Raven was woken, far too early one morning, by her Grandfather, Connor Alby, little did she know, that this would be the start of a large shift in her life!
Connor has to leave, and fast, and doesn't have the time to stop with long explanations. So he hands Raven a letter, to be given to Headmaster Flynn, and leaves the Goat farm swiftly.
That letter changes everything for Raven, and she finds herself now living at the School, with her Dragon, Leander, staying in a newly built Pen, besides the School's Barn.
She only takes a few things with her, to the School: her Grandfather's two Journals, and a Skiffling Skull, which were all that remained of Connor's life during the great War.
The skull belonged to one of the Swarm, that her Grandfather had killed.
Between keeping up with lessons, avoiding Bella Chase, and doing everything she could to keep Leander happy, Raven has little time for anything else. But Leander is restless, and it's not because he's unhappy at living so close to Raven.
But, when they find out just why, it will take everything they have, along with Bella, and her own Familiar, to make things good once again!
This book was even better than the first, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. So much so, that I want to go on to read Book three of this series: 'Warmage: Uncontrolled', straight away.
Once I've done this, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think about it!
Really enjoyed this story. This is book two of an exciting series with lots of twist and turns. Wasn't surprised, it's what I've come to expect from these authors! I'm always in awe at how quickly they are able to produce consistently great books that never disappoint. I think that my to be read list grows at a constant rate. Just downloaded the next book in this series a few days ago so that's where I'm headed now. Thank you for giving us great reads, especially now, when more people finely have more time to read. I'm not sure I'd have the strength to give it up when this is over. I remember the years i would stay up late finishing a book only to fight to stay awake the next day at work. While I mostly hated not being able to work when i became disabled, it was the silver lining that got me through my worst days, I suddenly had all the time I wanted to read! One of the best things that make these authors books awesome, they already have great authors notes at the end of their books. These notes are like bonuses that gives a picture of the people behind the talented writers. Keep writing and I'll keep reading, Martha and Michael!
This story just gets better. Raven and Leander are completely in sync and they're proving time and again they are a formidable team. One of my favorite scenes is when Wesley tries to shoot fire at Leander and Leander blows essentially smoke in Wesley's face...and Wesley chokes up and is sent flying through the air (the little sh$t). I got such a kick outta that 😁. You'll laugh, cheer, and shake your head at the antics of Raven and her friends (frenemies?) as they adjust to life at the Academy.
Somehow I let myself get involved with a story of a girl and her dragon. Well not just a girl, but one with the ability to learn and use magic. And her familiar, not some sardonic and disdainful cat, but a fire breathing magical dragon. And their friends who also have varying degrees of magical ability. There’s also an dark and menacing enemy bent on the destruction of all. A great read.
What an awesome installment in the Never Ending War series! This book has a perfect hero and heroine -Leander the Dragon and Raven Alby, his rider and war mage in training. Lots of high-flying action scenes and just an all round great story. I can't wait to see what happens next! Keep churning out the awesome stories Martha and Mike! Think about writing unique author's notes for each book, will you Mike? Thanks in advance!
I only read stories about dragons. UNRESTRAINED is written with a real day to day point of view ! I enjoy the personal touch regarding how the environment affects the action. I can't put you stories down. In the shut down caused by corona virus , staying at home is not so bad as long as you all keep writing !! Thank you for the great adventures and keep them coming!! Linda k.
I loved this book, the way the relationship between Raven and Leander became a true partnership, instead of him being 'just a beast' that must be controlled by humans like most are, and can't be trusted on his own. The transition of him and Raven being at their respective farms, to living at the school was great, and the way they learned to work together so smoothly was amazing. I can't wait for the next book!
Excellent read! This series is going to be one of the greats!
Not every young mage gets to have her Dragon at school with her. I like the angle they are taking with this book. I don't want to say much more, because they would all be spoilers. Great book, interesting story. I highly recommend reading both books and am looking forward to the next book!
Need I say more. This series has mages in training and dragons with attitude, who needs more. Leander is awesome dragon and students Raven , Bella and all their friends are great. They are training hard to learn spells, fight the swarm, fight raiders and try not to fight each other. Very excited about this series and looking forward to the next book.
Raven moves from her home to Fowler Academy and adjusts well. She keeps learning with Leander the dragon . Her interaction with Bella gets more complicated.
Plenty of action and advancement of the storyline. As usual, I am ready for the next book :).
Loved it. Great introduction into a great new very small but wonderful world. I like how you have put it together. The town, goats milk, the farms, magic and various magical creatures some stealing tiny goats the school and the warm relationships. And Dragons! With civil rights issues. Love it
Great characters and story. Love the dragons and really hope their story is developed further in future books! Everyone who likes magic, dragons, and adventurous characters should love this series. I read books 1 and 2 with very little break, even for sleep. "Unputdownable!"
Leander is fun for a Dragon. Raven is a teenage girl with a Dragon. They have fun training together until her grandfather leaves in the middle of the night. Leaving a letter to the school for mages. What's next, adventure, excitement and teenage school problems.
Once again Raven and Leander have many different adventures together...Some for the better of themselves, and some for the sake of the kingdom...but above all they are getting to understand each other more and more... Can't wait to read the next.book of this series to see what adventures Raven and Leander have with some of their friends...
Okay! Exciting is what I felt while reading this installment of the series and for good reason. I believe the story continues with Conner gone and Raven now living in the dorm at the school and having Leander near by, both are happier for now but Leander has felt like something is coming their way and all at the Academy had better get ready.
This is an extraordinarily magical book that is suitable for all ages, as is the fascinating series in when characters it is. Although, if you read it to young children you may want to skip the little bit of blue language. This series would make an excellent addition to any library that encourages reading. Enjoy!
More background is revealed and training continues. More is found out about Leander and Ravens bond. The story pulls you in and doesn't let go. Only gripe I have is it ended too soon
Can't wait for the next book. I really enjoy this series. Thank you for keeping me entertained during the corona virus. This book helped brighten up a rainy housebound day .
What is happening? So much excitement, fun, adventure, danger, and entertainment in one story. Sometimes when you do what you want things turn out good but there will always be consequences. Just read!!!!
Raven and Leander out of the frying pan and into the fire! I'm going to read this series to my grandkids when they're old enough! Howard S (the S stands for super fan)
I've read a lot of books in my life time. I've loved some and enjoyed others. I've flown o n dragons on other worlds, traveled the stars. Fought crazy aliens and saw such beauty and wonder. I love you guys. Thank you and blessings to you all. Be safe.
Two first years saved the school but got detention for it. She learned along with Leander how to ride without a saddle or reins. The Swarm is back! Highly recommended for all.
Great followup to the first book in the series. A very similar pacing and action level, but I found it enjoyable. Didn't really want to put the book down, so I ticked right through it. Fun read 😁😎
Moving forward to book 3. Can t wait to see how well Raven and Bella handle their detention class...lol!!! I'm enjoying this story and look forward to the rest of the books.
Very well done book, excellent, fast paced plenty of action. Very likable protagonist and dragon, excellent supporting secondary cast. Will be going on to read the next Book in the series. If you enjoy dragons magic an action you’ll enjoy this series.
Raven has Leander at school now! Something this way comes though! On the night of the school gala all hell breaks loose! Read for yourself to see what happens!
