SAWYER
I’m a baseball player with a habit of sleeping with the wrong women.

Just never thought my best friend’s assistant would be one of them.

Giving shy, inexperienced Naomi Silva the best orgasm of her life hadn’t been on my agenda. But fixing my own screwed up love life is.

Unfortunately, my one night with Naomi has convinced her that I can be her bedroom guide—a dating guru to show her the ropes.

I decide I’m game…as long as we keep our little arrangement a secret.

But what happens when my teachings are a little too good? What happens when the only player on the field I want Naomi using her new tricks on…is me?

The Pact is a good enemies to lovers story, one of my favourite genre written by one of my favourite author.

Sawyer is a baseball player and Naomi is his best friend's and teammate's assistant. He has a lot of conquests under his belt, he doesn't like commitment while she is a reserved and strict woman. As you can imagine they are not the best of friends, they can't stand each other but they are attracted from each other.
Naomi is off limits to him but when he sees her with her hands into her panties every promise to stay away is off. Will they find a way to know each other without kill each other?

I've enjoyed this story, I've laughed, I've shed some tears and I cheered for Sawyer and Naomi, because they are perfect for each other and they deserve to be happy.
I didn't like Sawyer in the previous book but he redeemed himself in this one and he conquered me with his love for Johnny Cash music.

The Pact is second book in the Chicago Nights series by Natalie Wrye. I have to say this is my favorite book of Natalie's! I'm not sure if it's these characters, their story, or just a feeling, but it's fantastic! Sawyer is a bad boy, but has such a good heart. Naomi is totally annoying and completely off limits as his best friend's assistant. But the pull to touch her and kiss her is more than Sawyer can deny. He needs help with his image. She needs help in the bedroom. The perfect Pact. What can possibly go wrong? Famous last words, right? Sawyer and Naomi have a connection that neither of them expected. They just need to fight for each other. Fight for forever. Show everyone it's more than just a fling. I just loved how their story played out! The push and pull. The love and hate. It was so hot and sexy and even a little sweet! I loved watching Sawyer forgive himself and want to fall in love and move on. Watching Naomi find herself again and forgive her past and take charge of her future. Overall, it was the perfect romance with fun, sexiness, laughs, lust and friendship!

We already know Sawyer (Sevin's friend and teammate) and Naomi (Sevin's assistant) from The Play. As I read this book, I wished to learn more about Sawyer and Naomi. And voilà, here we go.

From the beginning there is a connection between Sawyer and Naomi that I cannot really describe. There are actually no (or not so many) sparks flying, as in many other stories, but there is something special in the air. Naomi obviously has a thing for Sawyer and Sawyer soon notices that Sevin's assistant is not as uptight as he first thought. But they both decide that a relationship, of whatever kind, with each other would be just a mistake. But then they both need help: Sawyer with his image and Naomi in the bedroom. A pact is made and the rest is history.

I really enjoyed this story. The slow burn, the anticipation, it was killing me. I love their reluctance, they both want the same thing, but to protect themselves and their friends, they hold back. Until they can't take it anymore and finally have to give in. A romantic and sexy sports story. Two very adorable characters, witty dialogues and the perfect HEA.

The Pact is the second book in the Chicago Nights series by Natalie Wrye. Each book can be read as standalone but they are all connected. If you read The Play then you have met Sawyer (Sevin’s teammate and best friend) and Naomi (Sevin’s uptight assistant). I knew I felt a little something between these opposites and damn...

The pact was simple...don’t sleep with a woman in a teammate’s life. Including, a teammate’s assistant who drives you crazy and happens to work for your best friend. But what happens, if they make a pact of their own?

Trouble. That’s what.

In the last two years, Sawyer has only seen one side of Naomi and that was uptight. A she-devil at times. All business and no pleasure. She was a badass assistant but she needed to lighten up. So, when he sees her in his newly-renovated penthouse after a team win, he is shocked. She was drinking wine. Talking to a girlfriend. It was a different world especially after seeing her in his bathroom. Flush and engaging. He should have just walked away but after the day he had, he needed this. She was the only one to make him smile and just that was a surprise. He saw a different side to her that night and it was just the start to seeing more of her.

Naomi was torn between her old self and new self. She wanted to have fun. She really did but she didn’t know how. She didn’t know how to let go and that was why she agreed to a pact with Sawyer, a man who knew how to have fun. Too much at times. It was only supposed to be a few lessons. Two weeks. He would help her and she would help him. But, after seeing through each other without their walls up, it’s exciting, surprising, sexy, and beautiful. Everything they didn’t expect.

What will happen when pacts are broken? Shattered. Ruined. Will it be worth it?

I have read every one of Natalie’s books, and have beta read most of them and I have to say, this one is my favorite! Seriously, I started to fall for Sawyer in The Play. I do love a bad boy! I totally fell for him in this book. I wasn’t a fan of Naomi’s in the first book. She was hardcore with her rules but now? I want to be her friend. Seeing her open up throughout the book was awesome. We get to see why she was the way she was, and how she evolves into the woman she wants to be. I just loved them together, even more than I thought I would. And, I can’t wait for the next book.

Quotes:

“Start this program?” I ask. “This isn’t Microsoft Word.”

“It’s my party. And I’ll practice if I want to.”

“I love how your dirty your mouth has gotten. I’d say it was my influence, but I think all that naughtiness was already there. And I just brought it out.”

The Pact is the second book in Chicago Nights series by Natalie Wrye. This was yet another sweet, charming, emotional and a swoon worthy story that just captures you from the beginning. I thoroughly enjoyed every single page of it, and never wanted it to end. It is very well written and developed with the simple and powerful storytelling. The characters are complex, relatable; the plot is strong and it captures your attention immediately. I think that Sawyer and Naomi’s story is my favorite.

description

Sawyer and Naomi had a great connection. They lit the pages with their chemistry since the first time I met them. I loved their physical, fiery attraction and off the charts chemistry. They are each other’s match. I loved their sassy, flirty banter. Sawyer is fiercely protective of Naomi. They know they shouldn’t feel attracted to each other, but they do, it’s unavoidable. Maybe they don’t make sense but when they are together – they are just perfect and exactly what they need in order to move on from the scars of their past. I love their moments, banter and dialogues which were the highlight of my reading. I think they take each other by surprise because neither of them expected that this pact they agreed on would change their lives. They want to explore their feelings, even though they know that their time together is limited or that is what they think. They are effortless and familiar. There is also darkness and a dark cloud that follow them. Sawyer and Naomi are passionate, intense, breathtaking, heartbreaking, intense, fiery and incredible! I think that they are balancing each other. They changed each other. He brought her out of her shell, gave her voice and confidence. She taught him how to love and trust again. I love that they didn’t give up on each other even though the life have thrown them quite obstacles. The epilogue was just beautiful, I wanted to last forever and to never let go of these amazing characters and world.

It was sweet, sexy, intense, emotional and enthralling, with real characters and a lot of heart; a bit of mystery, romance and some drama. I can’t wait for the next book because it just keeps getting better and better. I highly recommend.

Could have been more:
This book had potential however it seemed to fall a little flat. It felt a bit clumsy and not fully worked out. Some of the writing was stilted and repetitive and further editing is required. Even though I don't usually go for sport romances , the premise was interesting and I liked the camaraderie amongst this group of friends. I hadn't read the first book in the series and was able to follow along just fine.
I initially didn't like Sawyer as he was a real player and came across as self-centered and egocentric. However as he enters into a novel pact with Naomi, he gradually becomes more responsible and committed. Naomi and Sawyer are opposites in many ways plus both were hiding and running away from their true selves. It was lovely finally seeing them find healing and love in one another.

This second book of the Chicago Nights series is the story of Sawyer and Naomi. He's best friends with and plays in the same team as Sevin (book #1, The Play) and she is Sevin's assistant.
It all starts when Sawyer catches Naomi in his bathroom with her hands in her pants. Turns out she really needs someone to teach her how to date (or actually: taking it to the next level) and he definitely needs someone to polish his reputation.
So there’s the pact, convenient for both, except...... what if that is not enough?
And just when things seems to go smooth.....

I loved this book and the way Sawyer and Naomi developed their love.
The title is well chosen. There are lots of pacts. Between people and pacts with themselves. And some pacts will be broken.....

Quote: “But right now, I’ll have to settle with telling you that I’m fucking in love with you.” 🥰

I’m looking forward to the next one!

Eh. 3.5 stars rounded down. Like the one before (the play), I was left wanting more. And the way this one ended was a bit, "meh". I mean, I saw the proposal aspect coming, but he forgot the right ring for his best buddy? Come on. Really?

And then with the two of them, Sawyer immediately sought out alcohol and a blow job? Really? Did Naomi mean nothing? Was she that easy to replace? Because it almost happened and was very disappointing.

It was a cute read and I don't regret that, but it really does leave you wanting more info. Throw in an epilogue or something to satisfy the reader instead of another book. Sigh.

So, I think painful is an accurate way to describe this book.
The story doesn't make any sense, the "pact" doesn't make any sense, the time frame doesn't either, they basically go from barely standing each other to "why don't you and your teenage brother move in with me because I love you so much and can't live without you?".

Also, sex scenes were so soooooo bad, just bland and awkward.

No character development at all, and pointless story beyond achieving HEA.

There are so many other flaws but it's just not worth it for me to point out.

I guess this is on me for reading a book with only 14 ratings and 15 reviews. I'll take full responsibility for this disappointment.

The Pact was a good story, the plot was written well. Natalie Wrye did a good job on the story.
I enjoyed Naomi and Sawyer's story, their journey may have it's bumpy patches but they were made for each other, their connection and chemistry was strong, they were good together.
I enjoyed this story. Thanks, Natalie Wrye. Good work :)

Sexy, sports romance to keep you on your toes! Hot baseball player and his best friend’s personal assistant enter a pact to end all pacts. They never expected to get more than they bargained for, but love doesn’t play fairly!

Finding their Happily Ever After with Mr. Del Monte! OMG – I love this book. This is about Naomi and Sawyer. Sawyer is a baseball player that has been suspended due to bringing shame to the organization by him being a player. Naomi is Servin’s assistant and a woman who holds on to a lot. Sawyer is best friends with Servin, but they have a pact that they are not to mess with any of the women in their life.

The story starts with a party at Sawyers penthouse. Sawyer catches Naomi in his bathroom at his party, as she likes the quiet, but he catches her doing something that she is a bit embarrassed, but not for long as he ends up helping her out. Well they never seem to get alone in public, until now and they both made a pact to help each other out but it ends up moving them in the direction that needed to be all along. I can’t wait for Ros and Chris’s story, they are a pair as well and what happens with the proposal! I received an advanced reader copy and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review. It does have a HEA

This is the second standalone in the Chicago Nights Series and after having read the first book, The Play, I didn't think it could be topped, but Ms. Wrye did it again and far exceeded my expectations in The Pact! I've read every single novel this author has written and they've all been outstanding, but I believe each one keeps getting better and better and The Pact is no exception. The writing and the story flows so easily you'll forget that you've been reading for hours. And the characters! Naomi and Sawyer are well developed, intensely emotional characters that feel real and genuine. The slow burn, anticipatory romance between these two was well worth the wait! I can only imagine what The Dare will bring us with Rosalyn and Chris!! Another 5+ star read from Ms. Wrye!

There were times this book had me laughing out loud and times where I wanted to punch someone. Highs and lows, part of any relationship. Sawyer and Naomi were different, and I am not sure how to best describe it. Their first real encounter in this book made me laugh and was hot at the same time. Naomi is uptight in a way but we soon learn she wants to be more outgoing and fun and we do get to experience that. Sawyer needs to shape up his image and yet there is something about Naomi that causes him to want to break the rules he was given.

This is a fun journey and you will love both of these characters even if at times you may be mad at them.

The Pact is book two of the Chicago Nights Series. I really like how this author has a way to draw us reader into her stories. Bad boy Sawyer, needs to straighten out his image, and good girl Naomi needs to learn to have fun so they made The Pact to help eachother out. These characters are likeable, and just what eachother needed. They have slow burning intense chemistry.
You can read The Pact as a standalone, but the characters are interconnected, so I would recommend reading The Play first. That's one thing I liked about this story is seeing characters again.
I can't wait for to the next book.

Fantastic read

I just love Natalie Wrye’s book of which I have read many, the cover and blurb always catch my eye and draw me in from the outset. What is the pact from 9 years prior and how many more pacts will there become. I loved both the main characters and the great storyline. Naomi wants so badly to get rid of her virginity and will use any means to do that. She is nervous and domineering, but will her pact with Sawyer work our fir her.
A well deserved 5 star ⭐️ read and can highly recommend.

Sawyer and Naomi have a kind of connection you can't describe. It's not this all-consuming, sparks flying, explosive chemistry but it works. They have a connection and the build up in their relationship adds to the suspense and you can feel that they belong together but it's a slow-burn. I loved them actually! Their initial "meeting" was actually kind of funny and hot. I couldn't get enough.
