The twin cities, Khangol and Xellence, keep an uneasy peace—humans above, vampires below.

Genesis was born neither human nor vampire, but both—a diurno, a creature the cities never asked for. Here, her existence is an abomination. And she is not alone. One fatal mistake drags her into the ruthless games of the House of Cards, where she learns that survival demands masks, manipulation, and a taste for power. Through shifting allegiances and dangerous passions, a web of characters and their stories reveals the undercurrents of power, religion, crime in a city where every choice can, and will, spill blood.

There are a few ways, here, that I must marvel at the wonders of writing.

First, in a way where I wonder just how I’m meant to say in only a few paragraphs what I’ve spent MONTHS reading, piecing together, deducing, deciding. . .

In life’s quieter moments, lately, I’ve turned to this book—one I knew I’d love, based solely on the author and how her last novel impressed me. But knowing I’d love it and discovering HOW I would love it. . .such wonderfully different things.

This is one I couldn’t guess at. A story and outcome alike that I couldn’t foresee. There was no new chapter that didn’t have its twist or drop its subtle clue. As swept up as I was with the movement, I didn’t realize there were hints of what I was drifting toward all the while. Surrounded by detail, settings, names—I was too hypnotized by all the excitement to notice what was around me.

What I took for a vampire romance turned out to be that, but that the least. While the romance was there, enthralling and necessary, all the dynamics and build of it was meant for so much more.

So, I marvel at the wonders of writing. How a brain can think so BIG. How it can translate such vast places and deep characters into words on a page and have—and keep—me riveted. How it can fool me, fuel me.

Multiple puzzle pieces, POVs, and so many sides to a story and its characters destined to intertwine. It was spelled out from the very beginning. . .yet I wondered.

Marvelous story.

Marvelous.

''Beautiful flowers are the most venomous, if handled improperly.''

Thank you C.M.B. Paris for providing me with an eARC. All thoughts are my own and left voluntarily.

Creatures of Dawn & Dusk is an urban fantasy standalone blending vampires, gang wars, and tragic romance. In a city where a fragile truce holds between humans and vampires, the Diurnis - creatures caught between worlds - fight for survival.

Alcohol, smoke, and drugs are banned because it spoils human blood.. After Genesis kills a man, she’s pulled into a deadly game with a notorious gang led by the enigmatic Dorian. Under the protection of Sin, her mysterious bodyguard, she’s thrust into a world of betrayal, violence, and shifting power. As alliances shift and secrets surface, Genesis must find her place - or risk plunging everything into ruin.

All I can say is - DRAMAAAA!!!!
The concept/themes of this book was interesting, the knowledge that this will not have HEA absolutely intrigued me, and the majority of the characters were nuanced (I think we got 9? pov's here). Yet, for the love of everything, I did not like Genesis. Beat me, curse me - I don't care. How can I explain.. I know that mostly vampires/hybrids can be very selfish and self-absorbed. And for few pages I was thinking ok, that's normal. That's just her phase or something. Yet the feeling of annoyance didn't leave me for a long, long time. I will not delve more about this as this is 100 % me problem. As for the rest of the characters (especially Dorian and Sin) - they serve their purpose, and everything (and everyone) is connected. It can get confusing with many povs and you will think - why does this person even has pov - but it will sort of make sense. Just go with a flow.

If you like gritty and bloody world where danger lurks in many corners, if you enjoy scheming/ wars between gangs and power struggles, if you are ok with time-skips, sinful romance and a bittersweet ending that makes sense for this sort of story - this is for you!

Some cw's: violence, death, torture, murder, blood, kidnapping, scenes of a sexual nature.

It was very, very hard for me to decide on rating. As for this moment I'm legit the first reviewer .. I will put 4 for GR (I really don't want to tank new book), but actually it would be 3.5 stars for me. I mean, 3-4 stars is a good rating so..

✨𝓐𝓡𝓒 𝓡𝓮𝓿𝓲𝓮𝔀✨
📖: Creatures of Dawn and Dusk

“𝘐’𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘐 𝘥𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘸.”

Genesis, a Diurnis (half Vampire), finds herself born into a world where creatures of the night are at odds with each other and mortals.

Social inequities, greed, and corruption are also woven throughout the fabric of society. After being recruited by the House of Cards, she works to become the perfect weapon but must decide what she’s willing to do to survive and what she’s willing to lose.

Shifts of power loom on the horizon. In the aftermath, what will be left standing?

Tropes:
👀Multi POV
🫂Forced proximity
🩶Morally grey characters
🎴Political intrigue
🏦Organized crime
🧛🏻‍♀️Vampires
🫥Hidden identities
🥲Betrayal
💔Tragic romance
🌶️: open door
“𝘉𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳. 𝘜𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘭 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵…”

To summarize my overall thoughts to CMB after reading: “f*cking brilliant”

As an avid romance reader, I’m always looking for the thrill of a sweeping romance or rush of serotonin with a HEA. As a fantasy lover, I live for complex worlds, unique characters, and measured doses of emotional devastation. This story, while offering no traditional sense of a HEA, delivers everything else in spades.

I was blown away by the masterful use of the multi-POVs and interwoven storylines. Each character is well-developed—some seeking to prove their worth or strength and others claiming their place in society. In the quest for power, everyone has a role to play in a dangerous game of moves and countermoves. But who are merely the pawns?

I loved the blending of dystopian, paranormal, and noir undertones. I was captivated by the intricate plot and poignant narrative exploring love, greed, loyalty, and dynastic legacy.

Fraught with betrayal, loss, and broken promises, Creatures of Dawn and Dusk delivers a bittersweet and tragic romance while invoking a semblance of hope and new beginnings.

Huge thanks to the author for the review opportunity. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I absolutely love the world the author has build, i always love a good vampire book, ever since twilight but this isn't quite the same. It had suspense, lies, scerets, hiddin identities, a silent war being fought, gangs, banter, found family, a strong fmc, multiple pov's from different but important characters.

In the beginning, it was a bit harder for me to be sucked in by the story, it took me a while but then at some point that changed and i got obsessed with it. It is a really big book, so be ware.

Dorian is perfect, always perfect, always says and does the right things at the right time. I couldn't get enough of him but to be honest, Sin will always have my heart. That will never change. This man, omg took yearning to a whole other level. The moments Gen and Sin spent together, the longing, ugh,, every single time, got me so riled up, like give me what i want.... Pretty please but nope!

Remember before you start reading, that this book does not have a happy ending. Not. At All

* Spice (And I mean GOD TIER spice)
* Characters you will love and hate
* Plot twists you won't see coming!
* A world painted so vivid it is like you are there
* Heartbreak (And I mean BREAK.. this book.. I won't spoil but.. my god)

Do you like any of these things? I highly suggest you give this book a try I am for sure you will love it!

Creatures of dawn and dusk is an urban fantasy set in a world where Vampires and humans co exist.. but the city is on the verge of chaos with gang wars at an all time high.
Our FMC Genesis killed a man and that was her biggest mistake as it sets her up in the middle of a game by one of the gang leaders dorian and her bodyguard sin.
When your whole world falls apart, what will remain..?

If you’re a vampire book lover, Creatures of Dawn and Dusk is a must-read. This urban fantasy throws you into a city on the edge of chaos, where humans and vampires barely coexist, and gang wars are ready to explode.

Genesis made one mistake—killing a man. Now, she’s caught in a dangerous game between the ruthless Dorian and her brooding bodyguard, Sin. And Sin? He owns the slow-burn, tension-filled, heart-wrenching moments that will have you screaming for more.

Expect jaw-dropping twists, a fierce FMC, characters you’ll obsess over, and spice that is next level. But fair warning—this book will break you. No happy endings here. You ready?
