Creatures of Dawn & Dusk is an urban fantasy standalone blending vampires, gang wars, and tragic romance. In a city where a fragile truce holds between humans and vampires, the Diurnis - creatures caught between worlds - fight for survival.
Alcohol, smoke, and drugs are banned because it spoils human blood.. After Genesis kills a man, she’s pulled into a deadly game with a notorious gang led by the enigmatic Dorian. Under the protection of Sin, her mysterious bodyguard, she’s thrust into a world of betrayal, violence, and shifting power. As alliances shift and secrets surface, Genesis must find her place - or risk plunging everything into ruin.
All I can say is - DRAMAAAA!!!!
The concept/themes of this book was interesting, the knowledge that this will not have HEA absolutely intrigued me, and the majority of the characters were nuanced (I think we got 9? pov's here). Yet, for the love of everything, I did not like Genesis. Beat me, curse me - I don't care. How can I explain.. I know that mostly vampires/hybrids can be very selfish and self-absorbed. And for few pages I was thinking ok, that's normal. That's just her phase or something. Yet the feeling of annoyance didn't leave me for a long, long time. I will not delve more about this as this is 100 % me problem. As for the rest of the characters (especially Dorian and Sin) - they serve their purpose, and everything (and everyone) is connected. It can get confusing with many povs and you will think - why does this person even has pov - but it will sort of make sense. Just go with a flow.
If you like gritty and bloody world where danger lurks in many corners, if you enjoy scheming/ wars between gangs and power struggles, if you are ok with time-skips, sinful romance and a bittersweet ending that makes sense for this sort of story - this is for you!
Some cw's: violence, death, torture, murder, blood, kidnapping, scenes of a sexual nature.
It was very, very hard for me to decide on rating. As for this moment I'm legit the first reviewer .. I will put 4 for GR (I really don't want to tank new book), but actually it would be 3.5 stars for me. I mean, 3-4 stars is a good rating so..
