✨Artemysia✨
Reading anything by Tessia is becoming my favorite thing, because I know when I sit down I won’t be in my chair any longer. No, when I read Tessia’s stories, I find myself seated next to these characters as if I too am in the pub next to them making plans.
In this unique fairytale world, we find ourselves following two first person POVs: Delphine and Riev. With their southern kingdom being breached by rabid syfs, Delphine, Riev, and their hilarious crew embark in a reluctant alliance to find answers. But what they find are answers and plot twists that have your jaw dropping. Not to mention romance that is so 🔥.
I honestly can’t speak highly enough about the two main characters in this original fairytale. Delphine is so humble and relatable. She is fierce but also makes sure everyone she encounters feels seen. Riev- I need a real life version of him, please and thanks. His inner dialogue is 🫠🫠. The dimensions of his personality are so beautiful and tragic and I couldn’t get enough of his perspective. Throg and Ivy = hilarious.
I was so impressed with the characters’ communication, grace, and compassion. The layers they had were deep and authentic and I fell in love with the two MMCs immediately. I also appreciated that Tessia wove light and funny vibes within the darker elements.
Tropes you may find in Artemysia are reluctant allis to lovers, medium-high spice, emotion focused storyline with hilarious banter, found family, grumpy x sunshine, “who did this to you”, forced proximity, gentle world building, wound tending, he falls first and SO hard, stand-alone.

one of my fav books this year!! i loved everything about this book. i am a HUGE fan of he falls first and boy did he. the story line was so unique and fun to read.
Riev is the dark moody MMC and i love him. Delphine is the fierce FMC who is trying to save the world. together they are put on a mission to territory that hasn’t been in contact with the rest of the world in ages. they go through so many obstacles along the way. Riev wants out of the life, until he meets Delphine.

This book is a beautifully crafted romantasy adventure that I cannot recommend highly enough. Court politics, captain of the guard, an assassin, mythical creatures, ancient secrets, forced proximity, tending to wounds, emotional angst and vulnerable intimacy, hot spice, it really has everything!
The FMC is Delphine. She a newly minted captain in the king’s guard. Delphine tends to overexert herself and take crazy risks but she’s an expert tactician and strategist and you can count on her to complete a mission with her team intact and respecting her even more than they did before. Meeting Reiv the assassin was a wake up call for her desires and then they get thrown together for a mission by the king. They’re all likely to die trying to complete this mission so the stakes are high and she’s going to need to command trust and respect, even from this arrogant assassin. Delphine is a strong and resilient, beautiful, intelligent, deeply caring woman. Her development over the course of the book is shown in her ability to be interdependent with her team and how not only her battle strengths, but the power of her love can make a difference.
Reiv is a mysterious stranger. He’s beautiful and lightening fast and an expert at killing. He has a reputation to be totally detached, and his walls are nearly impenetrable. He’s known for his detachment and solitude and his skill with violence Delphine somehow brings out long buried tenderness in him, and awakens his cold dead heart to love for the first time. It changes everything for him, down to his core, to understand that he can be loved fully for who he is, mind, body, heart, and soul, including his darkness and not in spite of it. His growth is absolutely beautiful to watch.
Delphine’s second in command, Throg, and Reiv’s chosen team member, Ivy, make for fantastic companions. The banter is really hysterical, the fight scenes are well done, the world building is seamless and immersive. I think the storyline is pretty original, and it was so compelling that I finished this book in two days. Excellent story, you should definitely check it out!

I read this as an e-arc as part of Tessie’s team, but these are my own thoughts
Tessia Ives has quickly become my automatic must buy author. And not just because she is an amazing person!
But THIS book. I can’t even say enough good about it.
First. The dedication. For those who believe in love, and for those who do not. May you find each other.
Tessia, dang did this just grip my heart and make me sniffle.
And then you turn the page and you are immediately in the action.
The world building and description in this book is beautiful and amazing. Tessia does such a great job at putting you right there in the scene.
The female main character , Delphine, is so bad ass and you just love her - she wants to save the world. Of course she’s a girl and she wants to do it her way. LOL but her heart is so good. You can’t help but cheer her on.
And the MMC - Riev! He is grumpy and fierce and wants to just save himself. And the inner workings of his mind!
The other characters in the story are amazing too and did you know THEY RIDE ELK!?!
The connection between these two, the romance, the spice and the banter added to the laughter this book will bring you makes this a must read!

Artemysia is another phenomenon. Tessia Ives does it again! Except this one is even better.
Delphine is determined to save the world and she wants to do it her way. Riev only wants to save himself, until he meets Delphine. From start to finish, I didn’t know what was going to happen next. There were surprises throughout, as well as moments that made me want to cry. I couldn’t put it down.
As always, Tessia’s writing was clear and the mystical elements were detailed. Her world-building is remarkable - her descriptions of the different kingdoms, creatures and characters ensure that you stay wrapped up in the story until it is done. Again, I can’t wait for the next in the series.

Okay, okayyy- this book. Wow. I swear it is my fave read of 2024! It had me HOOKED from the very start! The fmc, Delphine is a total badass right away, which I loved so much, I LOVE a strong heroine! 🙌
The banter between the characters was so funny, it had me giggling so often, especially with the side characters, definitely a nice change from all the dark reads 🤣
The twists & turns in this story kept me on edge the entire time (in a good way!)
The mmc- Riev, oh my gods, let me tell you he is a new fave! ❤️ He's ruthless, but also so so sweet and my gods he has a way with words 😍
Andd the spice- it is *chef's kiss* 🥵
The world building is amazing, so unique & the mythical creatures were so neat! Also they ride Elk, which is different 😍 This is the perfect romantasy!

She did it again!! @tessiaives is my new found favorite author. I only got a few pages in last week and then life happened. Got back to it yesterday and couldn’t put this beauty down. The character development was amazing. I loved the 2 main characters. The side characters were hilarious. Tessia’s books will have you engulfed from the beginning and not wanting to put them down. One of my favorite books of this year.

I wasn't even done with page 1 of the book and I was already hooked! This book is perfect for fantasy lovers who want a romance subplot and not heavy and dense world-building.
Tessia does a wonderful job at dribbling the worldbuilding into the story when its relevant, and doesn't overwhelm the readers. Not only is that fantastic but the characters? The plot? Amazing!

It has lovable side characters, bada** MCs, political intrigue, spice, different creatures, the list goes on!
I loved that the main characters break through each other’s hard exteriors. And I love that they ride elk instead of horses 😂
There were times that I was genuinely scared for what was going to happen to them 😭
This story gave me everything and left me ready for more! I can’t wait for the next one!

Artemysia by Tessia Ives is a work of absolute art. The plot to this is insane, and an absolute must read. The back and forth POVs were set up beautifully, the spice adds more depth to the story, and let's be honest Reiv and Delphine are amazing, whether separate or side by side! This book is genuinely so hard to put down, several days in a row I read late into the night to suddenly realize it was almost 3-4am. You will absolutely get hooked. An absolute delight of a fantasy romance book that won't be easily forgotten!

I was thrown right into the fray as soon as I feasted my eyes on the first page. Artemysia is a heartfelt fairy tale that is full of the feels. Tessia has created a unique and magical world full of magical mythical creatures and wonderful characters. But there is also deceit and lies, ancient secrets and armies, lost kingdoms and difficult missions, along with court and political intrigue and assassins making this an action-packed compelling tale.
Our heroine Delphine is strong and sassy and a badass out to save it all whereas our hero Riev is grumpy, fierce and all about himself. It was fun to watch their walls fall. So, when the two cross paths they both fall hard and fast, ok he falls first but whatever. There is secrets, lies, angst, fear and vulnerability. The intimacy makes for a hot spicey romance.
Tessia’s writing makes it easy traverse through and believe you are right there amongst the story and riding the magical creatures, Elk and setting out on a mission to save the world. The wit, bater and humour infused throughout make you feel even more of a connection in this beautifully crafted romantasy. This enchanting romantasy is full of wit and sees four misfits set out on a mission.
If you like banter that will make you laugh out loud, plenty of action, badass Heroines and ruthless moody assassins and spicey romances all wrapped up in a fairy tale then look no further.

I'm not one to get emotional when reading but this one made me feel everything. Loved the banter and love of the characters. The character growth, the world building, and especially the FMC and MMC. One of my favorite reads is the year!

This was my first book by Tessia Ives, and I literally could not get enough. She does a wonderful job of world building and showing the depth in the characters she creates, as well as creating amazing chemistry between them and I caught myself laughing quite often. I really enjoyed both the main and side characters, but Riev is by far my favorite. I love me a dark broody man that falls first and HARD. I will definitely be reading more from Tessia Ives.

Really enjoyed this book! Tessia has done it again. As an original fairy tale there are obviously big boots to fill and I feel she did.
The characters were loveable, the story was original, engaging and emotional and it had me hooked.
I smiled, I cried and I laughed.

Amazing! The cover is beautiful! I loved and devoured this! The characters were funny and had me laughing out loud multiple times. The banter was perfect! Rievs’ chapters were my favorite! I would love to read more of these characters and the world and more by this author.

Again, Tessia Ives delivers an amazing story with all the elements I love in a romantasy! What’s not to love about this fantastical romantic adventure through mysterious forests and lands! Wow what a ride from the very first page to the last! The last chapters had me on the edge of my seat in tears, crying, laughing, squealing, and whispering all my god! I fell in love with Riev and Delphine and their charming counterparts Throg and Ivy! The banter between them all will have you giggling and the intimacy and romance shared between the FMC and MMC will have your heart swelling with emotion. I wasn’t ready for the story to end!

I loved diving into this fantasy world created by Tessia Ives. The characters were so well developed and the storyline flowed seamlessly considering the histories, customs, and plot twists this new fantasy world throws at you. I’m obsessed with the banter woven into this book and my only complaint is that I wasn’t ready for it to end. I am hoping the lack of closure in the final chapters of the book means there is more to come … maybe a story for the prince of the Northern Kingdom!

4.5 "Artemysia" is bursting with action and passion right from the start. I love that I didn’t have to wait long for the main characters to fall for each other; it’s so refreshing! There are no dull moments in this novel—it’s packed with everything you could want from a fantasy romance.

Oh me, oh my. Thank you, Tessia Ives, for my newest book boyfriend, Hehe. Before Riev’s first chapter I was drawn in. True to word there is soft world building, but the characters become more and more with each passing chapter. Glimpses here and there into new aspects of what makes them unique, and intriguing keep you going faster to see how it all ends. Dual perspectives of Delphine and Riev’s. No slow take on this action chapter one bam.
Delphine succeeds in keeping her squad and the people safe another day. Promoted to Captain, officially in the morning. A night out celebrating turns out far more interesting than she ever thought possible. Enter mysterious stranger with a heart stopping handsome face. A little fight and a near kiss keep them both interested. Riev not much of a soft man is instantly caught off guard by the young captain and his mixed feelings to both fight and kiss her. In such a selfish and fearful world, she fights like a mountain lion and yet still maintains a soft heart. With starlight hair and amber eyes, everything about her draws him in and he is unsettled by that fact. Swoon. Too many questions about the Syf force the young captain to venture into the forest, though not alone. Delphine and company will face things they couldn’t prepare for and things they expected.
There is so much more I want to say but I am terrified to give away any details to rob you of that discovery and enjoyment. If you love banter, an amazing strong loyal smart FMC and an instantly swoon worthy MMC and so much more please get this book now and join the fandom. I have already added the physical book to my wish list so that I can have the book trophy on my shelf and reread it over, and over again. Artemysia is a romantasy novel which is right up my alley and lately all the rage across all the social media networks. It was definitely worth whatever hype it can generate. Once I started this I didn’t want to put it down, neglected a lot of housework for this one. This was in a vein all its own at the same time with its unique magical world and enjoyable characters. Delphine is just what a female is what everyone is looking for in our FMC and Riev is the typical grumpy, grey hero. I really enjoyed the banter between the characters and the spice was well done.

Delphine is a newly minted Captain of the guard. Level headed and fierce in the face of danger she has more than earned her spot. She and her second in command, Throg, are given a task by King Galke: make contact with the Northern Kingdom and ask for aid against the Syf. Two others have joined their little group as well. Riev, one of the best assassin's under King Galke, and Ivy, a former convict that was recently released. This group of vastly different personalities is all that stand between life as they know it and the Syf. As far as fantasy books go this may be one of the best I have read in a long time. The storyline is great, it's easy to follow, and the action keeps you hooked. The romantic aspect was a bonus.

Delpine & Riev start off with an uneasy alliance, along with Delphine's trusted 2nd in command, Throg and Riev's offsider Ivy.
They come to find that things are not as they seem and hard decisions must be made.
This book has a lot to love, especially the romance and spicy scenes. It is fast paced, with action, intrigue, world-building, humour, and character interaction. I like that there are chapters by Delphine and Riev so you get their points of view. It is a standalone book but I would love to read more!

This was a fun fantasy read! I loved the four main characters. Delphine has been promoted to captain in the King’s Guard and is in charge of leading a small group through the forest filled with Syf to the North Kingdom. Throg is her trusted sidekick and they have worked and fought together for a long time. He is big and loud and hates to wear clothes. He also has a very keen sense of smell which helps him track. Riev is a handsome man she met in the alley who she gave a place to stay for the night. What she didn’t know after a passionate make out session was that he was the king’s assassin. Ivy murdered her commander and has been in jail but Riev refuses to go without her. The setting of the book starts in the South Kingdom where they live. They move into the forest of Artemysia where the Syf live heading towards the North Kingdom looking for answers. The characters are fun and sassy with a lot of attitude. There is fighting amongst themselves and with the rabid Syf who they encounter on their way. I laughed and I cried and I loved every minute. There were some spicy parts that add to the romance and depth of the characters but the story would have been great even without it! I can’t wait to continue the story.

This book was fantastic! Delphine wants to save the world her way only. Riev sees Delphine and falls for her. He is also the boy that only wants to save himself. The two of them are on a mission to a place no one has been to in years. They have many ups and downs.

5 out of 5 stars. I loved the dynamic between Riev and Delphine. It’s definitely giving the brooding grump and little miss sunshine and optimism vibes, but I’m here for it. The strong female characters. This fantastical world, where humans are not the apex predator. The romance and spice between Riev and Delphine. I just couldn’t get enough of the characters. I laughed, I cried. I loved it. I need more! Highly recommend!

Artemysia been one of my absolute favorite reads of the year. The story is rich in detail, captivating, and highlights everything I love in a romantasy tale. The meticulous details and imagery paint a picture in your mind that you can’t help but get lost in.
The story highlights 4 vastly different people on an adventure through a wild forest. They are on a quest to save their kingdom from creatures (the Syf) who are mindlessly and savagely attacking their people. The found family aspect is top notch, the girl power had me cheering them on, the banter was perfection, and the passion between the MCs was exemplary.
The details etched into the pages and the cover of the book are stunning. This story was BEYOND quotable, I highlighted more quotes than I have in a long time. The foreshadowed character quotes that begin each chapter are captivating and it’s exciting to find them in the chapter.

I had to grab this book based on the cover alone, wow so stunning. This was an absolutely perfect fairytale romance with two cunning lead characters. Delphine and Riev have one of those amazing relationships where they play off each other perfectly! also I fell hard in love with Riev about as quickly as he fell for Delphine! I also absolutely love the swashbuckling vibe of our amazingly strong and smart Delphine! Strong women, adventure, hot men, wicked forests, Artemysia has everything you wanted in your fairytales back then and everything you want from them now! Thank you Tessia Ives this book was so much fun to read and really get into!

En toute honnêteté, ce roman est bourré de cliché (l'héroïne est une marysue ahem) et il contient probablement un peu trop de scène coquine pour que je le prenne vraiment au sérieux. Cela dit, il m'a divertit et j'ai été capable de mettre de côté sa bêtise pour en apprécier les rebondissements, les relations et me laisser porter par l'univers. (Les syf, les combats, les intrigues de cours, ainsi que la relation plutôt tendu entre les deux héros, ainsi que le développement de leur intérêt l'un pour l'autre.)
En somme, il m'a permis de m'évader et j'ai su apprécier le duo de héros proposés, quand bien même les derniers chapitres étaient de trop et entièrement inutiles. La fin est un peu baclée, malheureusement, mais le roman m'a fait rire, un peu pleurnicher (ou bien c'était mes règles, dur a dire ?) et j'ai passé un moment agréable.
En somme, il m'a permis de m'évader et j'ai su apprécier le duo de héros proposés, quand bien même les derniers chapitres étaient de trop et entièrement inutiles. La fin est un peu baclée, malheureusement, mais le roman m'a fait rire, un peu pleurnicher (ou bien c'était mes règles, dur a dire ?) et j'ai passé un moment agréable.
